  you laugh quietly as the shadows dance across the walls of your bedroom. their laughter echoes yours, bright clear laughter that seems to fall on your ears like the wind. you share private giggles with them and their response is like the burbling of a stream and the flutter of a bird's wings.
'i want to see a tiger,' you say. and they happily oblige you. the shadows race together to form a large, striped cat on your wall, bending over corners and the sheets on your bed. 'birds!'
there are two eagles spiraling down your wall, talons clutched together.
you laugh again, delighted. you freeze when your door opens. your mother pops you head in. even though you are upset by her interuption, you can still see the shadows prancing in the corner of your room. it makes you smile.
'dear, why are you laughing?' she asks you.
'i'm playing with my friends,' you respond. she gives you an odd look, but she sighs and leaves you anyway.
you grin and the dance resumes.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
you walk quietly along the side of the road as cars drive past you. you don't really take notice because your eyes are on the tree tops. you don't notice the worried glances some people send your way. you could not care less that they thought it was weird for someone to be walking on the pavement in an area with no pedestrians and nothing in hand. no one stops to talk to you though. if you had been a child, they probably would have. but you're not, so they assume you're homeless or crazy, or both.
they just don't realise that there is nothing for you to worry about. you have your friends in the tree, in the wind, in the light. you hear them laugh and you smile up at the trees. you can barely make them out within those leaves. they are beautiful.
you don't talk to them though. you know what people will think. they will definitely think you're crazy, but not harmless crazy like a person walking down the pavement, but killer crazy and call the police. but you're okay with smiling at them. they follow you around wherever you go and they make your dreams come true.
We foot it all the night,
Weaving olden dances,
Mingling hands and mingling glances
Till the moon has taken flight

  “Freya, go put this dish of milk outside in front of the door.”
“Why, momma?”
“It’s for the faeries, dear. You don’t want to be snatched by the fae, do you?”
“No! I want to stay with you.”
“Good girl. Now put this outside.”
In the very beginning, existence was just a void with not beginning or end, just eternity. It was neither dark nor light and there was no time, just existence. There, The Void twisted itself and curled in, contorting into something more than nothing. And from The Void came the universe, infinitely connected to The Void, yet also separate. The Void’s energy supported the universe and created planets and stars and matter. In some places, the matter was just right, sometimes a coincidence, sometimes not, to create life. Life was new and bright; it was brilliant and every life held traces of The Void.
The flow of time moved and pressed forward while to void was forward and backward and constant; The Void is all time. And sometime after the first life came to being, a small planet covered mostly in water began to support life as well, but something different happened as well. There was a small tear in the fabric of the universe and The Void crashed into the universe and out of this collision came creatures that had the physicality of the universe and eternity of The Void; they were creatures of time. Their planet of origin became their home and they leapt forward and backward through time by slipping sideways into The Void. Occasionally, something would fall in with them and another creature would come forth. Their physical forms blended in with their planet and they came to embody different parts of their world.
Then came the humans.
For many, many years the creatures and humans lived in relative peace. The humans did not know for certain that these creatures existed, but they saw the signs and named them faeries. The humans made offerings to the fae and created myths and legends about them. Sometimes they were known to be benevolent creatures and other times they were portrayed as malevolent.
In truth, they are neither. They are neutral as The Void and the universe itself is.
Sometimes a human would stumble upon a faery gathering and be dragged into a game, their dance, and the human would be danced to death.
“Can’t you see them, mommy?”
“See what?”
“The faeries!”
“Faeries don’t exist, Mel.”
“They do, mommy, they do.”
Soon humans began to move away from their origins and as they did, the touch of The Void that is present in all living things. This is natural for all things in the universe for life to shed it the origins it had in The Void and move forward. As this happened, faeries, who are neither dead nor alive, and creatures that inhabit the universe but are created of The Void, began to be deprived of what they needed to continue their existence. Humans were moving in on the natural world that the faeries inhabited and The Void was no longer so present so that faeries could easily slide easily around Earth.
So they created The Wild.
They created a place on Earth, a place tied to their physical home that had the energy of The Void. In this way, they had a place both eternal and material, a place between the area of the universe Earth takes up and the void.
As the energy of The Void faded from Earth, fae stopped being created by chance and coincidence. Because of this, the faeries began to take humans to become their eternal companions and make faeries of them.
This is the human’s choice though. They must choose to go with the faeries. They must also have a shard of The Void, a part of that energy they were born with, to go to The Wild. Without, The Wild will burn them up and they will die.
And so, the dance continued.
“All stars die.”
“Will the sun die?”
“One day. One day it will.”
The Wild was created as a place between Earth and The Void. It is tied to the faeries physical home, but one day, this home will disappear, the humans will leave, and the faeries will be trapped.
That is, unless they can move The Wild and anchor it someplace else where they can slip through the fabric of the universe and touch The Void. Humans sustain the faeries’ existence so the fae will follow humans to the end of time.

 Faeries and The Fae
The fae span endless timeless that cross each other, but never quite clash together. The fae of the distant past were created from mostly objects, but sometimes humans that showed an incredible aptitude for their games and a malleable morality. In our present, both adults and children can be taken, but it is the children that usually choose to go. In the future, only children can be brought to the wild because the energy of The Void fades as the children grow older. Occasionally an object will be Void-touched and it is possible for them to slip sideways and become a faery.
The fae can be perfect friends, but also dangerous enemies. They possess the ability to manipulate the universe, especially the earth elements, with skill, though there abilities are not all encompassing nor are they infallible. Humans call this Void-touch 'magic', but it is anything but mystical. It is the faeries inherent connection to the universe and all things because they embody the origins of all things. They see everything, know everything, and can control everything, except perhaps their own future.
Stages
Into the Wild
An object slips into the Void, or a human is taken to The Wild. In both cases, the Void energy burns up their physical state to reveal the Void inside of them, referred to as a shard, even though the shape of this piece of Void can take any form.
Eternal Form
The shard spreads and grows into the humanoid form of the faeries. This new body is the one that the faeries will have for, as far as anyone can ascertain, forever.
The Knowing
Some fae learn to surpass the physical boundaries of The Wild and the universe, and are able to begin to know the void. As part of them slips and merges with the Void and some of the Void merges with them, a change occurs that very few get to experience.
The Unknown
It is said that not even the oldest faeries know what becomes of those who truly know the void. It is said that perhaps the first faeries created by chance know or even experienced this happening, but none of them can be found.

 do i have to rp to have a pet?
there is one rp or writing exercise that you need to do for your faerie to take shape, but otherwise, there are no other guaranteed growths. so as long as you're willing to do a simple, fairly generic rp, then there's really no problem. however, under certain circumstances, some pets, especially customs, will not require any rp to get to the second stage.
how long does it take for the faeries to grow?
there is a single, simple rp for the shard to grown into the faeries eternal form. for the object, it is a story that tells of the objects life before falling into the void. for a human, it is a rp with a staff member who plays a group of faeries about how they were courted by the faeries. from then on, growths are based on an rp/metaplot related points and token system.
what is the general personality of the faeries?
faeries are beings of neutral chaos, they are neither good nor bad, though they sometimes seem to take delight in harming humans. their morality is not set and, in a way, does not exist. they exist to see all things, to dance for eternity, to protect one another, but most of all, they exist through accident. they aren't creatures like we like to think, with morality or a set of behaviors humans can understand. they like to play games, and for them these games are harmless and fun, they do not necessarily reason that humans are harmed by their actions. they care about each other and humans they intend to make their own though, and cross any of them and you will regret it.
can i rp as a human?
your main character will be the faery you have gotten through this shop. you may introduce minor human characters, but in the end, they are pretty much irrelevant to the plot of this shop. in this shop, the pets are the characters, and it is not as if you enter a shop and buy a faery; you are the faery.
