xxxxxxxxxxhero alias »
xxxxxGALILEO
xxxxx Accepted as the first physicist to work on gravitational theory, the name was
xxxxxthe obvious choice for the intelligent young girl who manipulates gravity itself.

xxxxxxxxxxreal name »
xxxxxANEMONE BIANCA PFEIFFER
xxxxx Named after her mother's favourite flower and for the startling colour of her hair
xxxxxand eyes. Ironically, Anemone also means 'daughter of the wind'.

xxxxxxxxxxage upon enrolment »
xxxxxEIGHTEEN
xxxxx Bit of a late bloomer, it took Anemone some time to come to terms that entering
xxxxx the Academy was the only way she would be able to master her power.

xxxxxxxxxxhome base »
xxxxxSEWIT
xxxxx Anemone was born in the bustling northern city of New Vesta, where her mother's
xxxxxcorporation was based and located. Despite living in such a large and technologically
xxxxxadvanced place, the girl rarely left the safety of the complex of buildings that made up
xxxxxQuancell Unlimited.

xxxxxxxxxxorigin »
xxxxxBORN GIFTED / MUTATION
xxxxx Anemone's mother is the founder, CEO, and lead scientist of Quancell Unlimited.
xxxxxThe company researches, develops and manufactures new, high tech and ground
xxxxxbreaking power sources that are used for everything from toys to weapons to computers.
xxxxxMs. Pfeiffer, alongside a small team of the company's best scientists, were working on
xxxxxanti gravity technology for reasons unknown to Anemone. Ms. Pfeiffer was completely
xxxxxoblivious to the fact she was pregnant with a daughter while she worked with unstable,
xxxxxgravity altering machines and chambers. The woman was 5 months with child before
xxxxxshe realized it at all; by then whatever had happened to the forming human in her womb
xxxxxwas already done. Despite all the medical attention she sought, it was apparent that
xxxxxsomething was wrong with her child's brain and everyone braced themselves for the
xxxxxworst. Anemone was born perfectly healthy, except her abnormal white hair and eyes.
xxxxxSoon after birth, the child's powers started to manifest and it was clear that something
xxxxxhad mutated her after all; she was gifted with the very force her mother had been
xxxxxtrying to harness.

xxxxxxxxxxbackstory »
xxxxx Born into an extraordinary life, Anemone never really had a shot at normality. She
xxxxxstarted school like every other normal child in her city at the age of five. Thanks to her
xxxxxmother's light home schooling, however, she was admitted two grades ahead of her age
xxxxxgroup. Instantly singled out for being two years younger and her appearance, Anemone
xxxxxhad major issues fitting in with the other children. Despite keeping her powers a total
xxxxxsecret, she was still ridiculed as a freak for her pale appearance. She attended school
xxxxxfor two and a half years before refusing to go any longer; the gentle girl had been pushed
xxxxxaround, excluded and bullied too much for her to handle anymore. She requested to be
xxxxxhome schooled, to her mother's pleasure. After that, Anemone rarely left the safety of
xxxxxher mother's property. The only companions she had were her mother, scientists that
xxxxxworked for Quancell Unlimited, and a handful of pets. Anemone spent years merely
xxxxxstudying, reading, and keeping to herself. Around the age of fifteen, she began to crave
xxxxxthe social interaction of her peers and wonder what she had missed out on. However,
xxxxxher broken spirit and childhood wounds had mutated into full blown phobias, anxiety,
xxxxxand an extreme lack of self esteem. Instead of not wanting to leave the safety of her
xxxxxhome, she now simply couldn't function outside of it. Her mother never took notice of
xxxxxsuch problems; she viewed her daughter as a brilliant, happy, highly independent youth
xxxxxwho was fully capable of looking after herself. Naturally, Anemone couldn't bear the thought
xxxxxof admitting to her mother the real reason she had left school in the first place, let alone
xxxxxthe internal struggles she faced now. It took Anemone a few more years to finally work up
xxxxxenough courage to take the first step back into civilization and controlling her power-
xxxxxenrolling into Sidekick Academy.

xxxxxxxxxxpersonality »
xxxxx At the core of her being, Anemone is a caring, graceful, understanding, and nurturing
xxxxxperson. However, many of her positive traits are shadowed by her overwhelming shyness,
xxxxxlow self esteem and phobia of people. Despite a genuine concern for others and a desire
xxxxxto help those in need, her fear of rejection keeps her from getting too close to anyone.
xxxxxAnemone tries hard not to show others how sensitive she really is, mostly because she
xxxxxviews it as a sign of weakness. With a tendency to assume the worst about everything,
xxxxxshe continuously contributes to her already anxiety prone personality. Most of the time
xxxxxAnemone remains quiet and seems as if she has little to contribute, but in reality the
xxxxxgirl is rather opinionated- she's just shy. Thanks to her self isolation and despite her
xxxxxintelligence, Anemone can be quite naive and alien in social situations. She merely
xxxxxdoesn't always comprehend how people interact with each other, having always been
xxxxxaround straight forward adults. Anemone desires to make friends more than anything,
xxxxxbut the thought of burdening the people she cares about terrifies the girl more than
xxxxxany of her personal insecurities.

xxxxxxxxxxreason for enrolment »
xxxxx Anemone was invited to attend the Academy at age thirteen. However, between
xxxxxher crippling shyness and fear of people, she declined. Anemone wanted to be normal
xxxxxand to live an equally normal life. She buried her powers, refusing to use them.
xxxxxEventually, her powers started to manifest by themselves; things would float around
xxxxxAnemone on their own, or small light objects she tried to pick up would suddenly feel as
xxxxxif they weighed twenty pounds. Eventually she broke down and drove herself into her
xxxxxstudies, convinced that she could master and control her gift without the aid of any
xxxxxother supers. Anemone realized that despite her intelligence and the aid of the
xxxxxscientists of her mother's company, she was barely making any progress. Between
xxxxxthat and the lonely girl's desire to be around people that weren't just Mother and
xxxxxher employees, Anemone decided it was about time to step out into the real world.
xxxxxBesides, if she was to be accepted anywhere, it would be Sidekick Academy.

xxxxxxxxxxpowers & abilities »
xxxxxGRAVITY MANIPULATION · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·
xxxxx Galileo can control gravity. She can increase or decrease it's affect on objects
xxxxxand people, which essentially means she can make things 'lighter' or 'heavier'.
xxxxxThere's many different ways this power could be utilized; but for the time being she
xxxxxonly has a few tricks to rely on. She can manipulate gravity from a distance of up to
xxxxxthirty feet as of right now, and her range can grow with practise.

xxxxxSUPER STRENGTH · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·
xxxxx Galileo doesn't actually have super strength- in reality, she's actually quite frail
xxxxxand weak. However, by reversing the effects of gravity around an object or person,
xxxxxshe can easily lift heavy objects with little to no effort. As she hones her abilities,
xxxxxshe'll be able to lift heavier and heavier objects.

xxxxxSUPER JUMP & FLIGHT · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·
xxxxx Once again, Anemone can't actually fly. However, she is able to make herself
xxxxxextremely 'lightweight'. This gives her the power to be able to jump long distances
xxxxxat a great altitude. Obviously this isn't flight; her ability to fly is thanks to her one
xxxxxof a kind boots. Designed especially for her by her mother's company, the boots
xxxxxcontain pressurized air jets in the heels that allow Galileo to direct her jumps with
xxxxxmore precision and stay in the air for long periods of time. The boots themselves
xxxxxdon't need any fuel or batteries; they're completely self servicing as long as they
xxxxxhave access to any sort of gas.

xxxxxSUPER SCARF · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·
xxxxx Galileo's scarf is different than your average neckwear. It's made of chain mail, covered
xxxxxin a loose sleeve of silk. Galileo simply uses her gravity manipulation to make it wearable
xxxxxand to give it the illusion of floating or moving in the air like normal fabric. It's a valuable
xxxxxtool, as the deceptive scarf is used as a shield or even a weapon if needed.
xxxxx*THIS IS SOMETHING SHE HAS AS A SIDEKICK THAT WILL BE EDITED AND
xxxxxWORKED OUT WHEN THE TIME COMES SO PLZ IGNORE FOR THE TIME BEING LOL

xxxxxINTELLIGENT · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·
xxxxx Anemone has spent almost her whole life amongst some of the world's greatest
xxxxxminds and scientists. Practically her entire childhood was spent studying and assisting
xxxxxher mother with her work. She's able to memorize entire documents in short periods
xxxxxof time, and recall information from her almost nearly perfect memory. However, she's
xxxxxonly good with things she has actually read; remembering things in detail that she
xxxxxlearnt verbally can prove quite a challenge. She's also pretty skilled with computers.

xxxxxxxxxxstrengths »
xxxxx highly versatile power, practically endless possibilities: throw things long distances,
xxxxxlevitate objects, anchor light items, etc
xxxxx logical, good at analysing situations and staying level headed in a crisis
xxxxx works well in a team, always obeys superiors and good at taking orders from others
xxxxx hard worker, always puts 100% in. never half asses anything or leaves a job unfinished
xxxxx compassionate, despite her bad experiences with peers she still cares about others

xxxxxxxxxxweaknesses »
xxxxx due to bullying and seclusion, bad with people. extremely shy, has trust issues,
xxxxxsocially awkward, and has a minor fear of people and their opinions of her
xxxxx extreme emotion, positive or negative, can distract and therefore weaken her power
xxxxx is relatively weak and frail, half from mutation and half from being a shut in
xxxxx emotionally weak, can't handle any sort of negativity very well
xxxxx has low self esteem and lacks confidence in both herself and her powers
xxxxx under extreme emotions, either positive or negative, her powers tend to do their
xxxxxown thing. Small objects will float, things will get slightly heavier, etc.

✘ thought i should mention a few things about Anemone/Galileo that aren't totally clear/mentioned in the profile :3
✘ lol sorry if nothing about her power makes sense, i tried to flesh it out as much as possible but i mean. we don't
even know what exactly gravity is so. ;-; yeah. i use the terms lighter and heavier because it's easy, but she doesn't
really control weight or mass of anything.
✘ future ideas for her powers! perhaps gravity barriers, or as a super strong omgwtf hero, black holes
✘ was also thinking maybe she actually doesn't control gravity, but controls the n-force? idk if that would even be
relevant to anything except giving us headaches, though.
✘ i didn't mention her father on purpose. i wanted to leave it open for expansion or plotting :3
✘ i also left what exactly her mother was researching anti-gravity technology open ended on purpose, too. originally
i was thinking it could be an energy saving device sorta idea, (so not so much power needed to be used to say,
move giant/heavy things), but i feel like it could be so much more than that with some plotting and stuff :3c
✘ i'm still working on art for civilian!Anemone but this is the basic kinda concept for anyone who cares :3c

sob all my high school physics days suddenly come flooding back... ; u;

okay if I'm not mistaken, gravity affects the weight of an object, so in short she can make things lighter or heavier, like you said, so that's okay I believe * v*b

does she have to touch the object to affect it though? Or can she manipulate it from a distance?

also I love that scarf asjdklf. She can have it as a sidekick if you like, since she already has the boots at rookie (?) o uo
oh does she need to consciously keep the scarf afloat? Like, does it fall and become heavy if she doesn't concentrate on it? o 3o
PostPosted: Wed Jun 15, 2011 11:52 am

IDKLOL GRAVITY CONFUSES ME 8D
but if you say that's fine then yay ~

She can manipulate from a distance! Didn't think about writing that down. I really haven't thought about how far of a range she has for that then, I guess about 60ft seems fair. Obv her range could increase with levelling. :3

YAYSCARF /brofistsboyfriend
And yes! That seems fair to me :3 Didn't wanna crazy overpower her so scarf can wait ~

Yeah, I guess she'd have to consciously keep the scarf afloat. o 3o I was thinking more of like, she doesn't really have a problem with doing it because it's second nature to her? Maybe even have it like, be something she used to wear all the time at home just to hone her skills a bit while she was doing other stuff. If that makes sense. xD Doesn't mean she couldn't have her concentration broken and be like OH GOD 50LBS ON MY SHOULDERS AHHH for a split second.
WHICH COULD END UP BEING HILARIOUS MIGHT I ADD

thanks mori <3

It's common knowledge that having a cape of some kind is a pretty stupid costume
xxxxxchoice for a hero. Despite how cool it may look, they can end up doing more harm than
xxxxxgood.

Look....we've all seen Incredibles, we get it...but I really wish you'd take this line out, because we're in a fantastic setting and having a cape is a pretty acceptable fantasy element.

If you put this, you're under-minding an entire type of hero costuming. It's like making fun of wearing their underwear over their pants--immature. It's just part of hero tradition and everyone gets to ignore the fact that it's like covering your face with an eye mask and pretending no one will recognize you. If you want to change it to "She feels having a cape of some kind is a pretty stupid..." that's fine. It's her choice. But to state it like you speak the common opinion? It suddenly paints a very different picture. Anyone who puts a cape on their character is suddenly having to answer to this.

Not to sound harsh, but your statement bothers me. As does any insult that calls hero tradition "stupid". The whole idea of costumed superheroing is stupid, but why pick on one part? If it's a personal opinion, however, she can take responsibility for the claim. My character thinks all heroes suck (but I don't). He'll make fun of all of it. (I will also laugh about it, but I won't call it stupid, or else why would I love heroes like Superman?)

It leads me to my crit for your character, though, so hopefully I won't come off as such a jerk for picking on that line. >_>;;

My question is, how much of her gravitational powers are natural and how much does she have to "call upon"? If she becomes weak in battle, or even if it's just an intense, distracting battle, that scarf is suddenly going to weigh a ton. You have to decide if, even if she's knocked out, do things still get effected? Would pebbles still float around her? Or I'm assuming they'd actually rotate around her...not sure about gravity. But she's taking valuable concentration or skill to look cool and have a back up weapon.

Quote:
Naturally, Anemone couldn't bear the thought of admitting to her mother the real reason she had left school in the first place, let alone the internal struggles she faced now.

Is this just that she was bullied, or is there something else, deeper, there?

Otherwise, she's a well-rounded character, if not a little too smart, and I imagine she'll be fun to RP with. So other than my personal issues about cape-bashing, she has my thumbs up.

It's funny to me, Zax has similar but quite different issues with his father. His father is vice-president of a as-of-yet-undeveloped-in-my-head company who's too busy to think much of his child or his powers. Basically, he works all the time, so he pawns his son off on others. Point is, neither parent pays attention to anything not related to their children's performance. (It's just that Zax doesn't do well, but Ane does.)

I-I'm sorry if I offended you. ;_; I really had no malicious intent with that comment, I was just trying to bring a little humour to my profile... Obviously I have no problem with costumes involving scarves/capes or else I wouldn't have given my char one. hell, the only reason the chain mail scarf idea even exists is because i wanted a cape of some sort but was unsure if having one might end up screwing Anemone over in a fight until my boyfriend suggested the chain mail. So basically I was just trying to be smart with every aspect of her outfit for the sake of the rp because i wanted a scarf/cape badly... ;_; I'm a costumer and cosplayer and I love all sorts of designs, like, it's what I do and love lol. like I said, I'm sorry I offended you but... wat. my intention was almost opposite of what you think, in a sense. o__o; I'll change that if it means that much to you.

I kinda answered your first concern with my post replying to mori. The scarf wouldn't weigh more than 50lbs, I mean chain mail is heavy but not enough so that it would be impossible to move around in the scarf without the gravitational manipulation. I feel like the good majority of her power needs to be called upon, but in extreme circumstances (like when she was trying to repress her powers or w/e) it would kind of just do it's own thing, (pebbles floating, little things getting heavier, etc). never really thought about what might happen if she passed out- maybe a gentle fade of said powers? it wouldn't just be a clean on/off, so yeah. I guess that fits the best, if that makes sense.

It was just that she was bullied, yeah. Sensitive kids, etc. I tried not to make her too smart which is why I gave her difficulty with verbal learning and didn't give her superhax computer skills, but yeah. ;w; I could always dumb her down a bit I guess, but I mostly chalk up her intelligence to her mother/lifestyle/etcetc. ;w;'

Yay slightly terrible parents? 8D; I wouldn't say Anemone does well with her mother's neglect, but I wouldn't say she's miserable because of it either. Somewhere in the middle, I guess. Ronery, but doesn't want to be a burden either? So deals with it better than Zax, I imagine. :3 UNLESS YOU MEAN DO WELL LIKE, PERFORMANCE/SCHOOL/ETC WISE THEN LOL @ ME I CAN'T READ it's almost 4am and i'm at work orz sorry

I really, seriously love a lot about this character, she has a lot of interesting quirks and things working for her, and personality wise I cannot wait to see her in action! She seems pretty developed and thought out, I think, and really, really interesting.

On her scarf: I think this is a really unique and interesting item, b-u-t it sounds like something that she should only have when running around in costume/hero form for the sole reason that if she loses concentration (say, whilst studying during a test) the results could be she literally chokes herself- since chainmail is incredibly heavy! I am not as physically weak as her without her powers, and a shirt of chainmail is /really/ heavy. A scarf could actually do a fair bit of damage to her- if she's wearing it during normal days. Just a note, I felt might need a thought or two. Feel free to ignore it.

In terms of her strengths and weaknesses, there really are only two weaknesses; she's weak emotionally and her body (health?) is not incredible. The extra points are basically expanding on the areas that she's weak in emotionally (emotional/mental) which I feel is more of an extension of the same weakness. This is the only point that I think lacks definition. Surely her power has some other weakness? Is she innert inside of anti-gravity chambers? Does she have trouble walking in certain places because she's attracted to the ground? Would she be stuck in those magnetic funky points where chairs appear on the ceiling and water streams up? You mention that her power is a little out of control- perhaps that could be a weakness, if she gets taunted too much, or is emotionally unstable its hard for her to fight? I don't know, just some idle ideas.

Overall though, wow you can really see the work you've put into this character!

Thank you so much. n__n

Oh, she'd only be wearing her scarf running around in costume. xD I wouldn't have her wearing it just around to chill, unless she was intentionally training with it. The idea I thought of when mori questioned it was that when she was still trying to self-train herself, she wore it all the time to try and make it a second nature sorta thing I guess. If that makes sense. xD I'm starting to wonder if I should just give her a cape and muffler instead, so the chain mail could be attached more to her shoulders so she wouldn't die if anything happened lmfao. xD;;

You're kinda right about the weaknesses, although I consider her powers weakening if she's distracted/upset a third. -w-; But, hmm. I don't see why she'd be powerless in anti-gravity chambers, since that's just another force of gravity manipulation working. I'm sure she could overpower it if she wanted? o 3o; I don't think she'd have trouble walking anywhere either, and although there's theories gravity is actually magnetism I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole because gravity is confusing enough as it is. xD But yeah, I could add that her power can get a little wonky sometimes under emotional stress or w/e. Thanks! :3

Well, it wasn't my intention to offend you with me annoyance, either, so we'll be okay. XD;;

She wouldn't be able to deflect light-based powers, either. Only black holes are strong enough to control light (if I have my physics right). So that's kinda her kryptonite, right?

My favorite spell in Kingdom Hearts was gravity...it flattened the monsters to the ground 2D-style and drained them of power. XD
PostPosted: Fri Jun 17, 2011 11:24 am

Uhhh I guess she wouldn't be able to? /doesn't know much about black holes
But I mean I don't think she'd be able to deflect lots of attacks. xD I guess she could try to deflect things like fire/water based attacks/etc, but my guess is anything that wasn't something you could hold would be her weakness. Light, sonic waves, electricity, etc.

Lmao Kingdom Hearts is where I got the initial idea for her power. :3c
