Camelot was trying to take things easy. He didn't want to go out and get himself even more hurt, because he was already injured for one, and because he would do no one any good if he leaped into an unnecessary fight and got killed because of it.

So he was doing his patrol on the down low. He had his dog with him, the corgi walking along on her leash and yipping at any person that passed in the settling evening gloom. She was an excitable, loving thing, and made it her goal to love absolutely every strange she saw.

Tony loved her for it, though he tried not to let her chase after too many kids. She was scared of other dogs, though, and kept herself very close to his legs whenever she was one.

He decided doing a patrol under the guise of walking his dog was the safest way for him to go out and still keep an eye on anyone that might be in trouble. He had done a short trip, Dogby getting tired now, and was taking her back towards the library. It was one of the few nights when he hadn't been on to close the library, his day off, so it was still open as he walked the familiar street toward it.

He figured he could drop Dogby off there, saying he was coming in after hours to do some work he had forgotten about if Carol caught him, then go back out for another look around. Staying powered down kept him from drawing unwanted attention and starting a fight that didn't need to be started. It also meant, however, that he couldn't feel any energies of Negas or trouble makers around, so it was a trade off. The first patrol had been powered down, but maybe after Dogby was settled he would power up.

He had his arm in a cast, though his bruises were healing well. He was tired, quicker than normal, his fractured ribs burning. But he knew he would just have to deal with it. He didn't realize there was a youma lurking near the library doors, which seemed to be a more and more common place for them, waiting for the next person to come out to pounce on.

That next person had no idea what was awaiting him. Monsters, after all, rarely had the presence of mind to wait out as someone came out.

That someone happened to be someone familiar - Daniel had helped close that night, and with a nod to the head, bid Carol a good night as he slid his bag on his shoulder and was out the door.

He had barely taken a step outside when the creature jumped him - he screamed until he hit the pavement with the youma on top of him, knocking the air out of him, light golden eyes wide in fear.

Oh s**t oh s**t oh s**t oh s**t... Try as he might, he couldn't struggle out of the youma's hold on him.

Tony saw the youma a little too late. Just after its target saw him, in fact. The woes of going on patrol with a tiny dog. Their bladders and other bodily functions were spaced rather close. He was just being led to a nearby tree when the youma struck.

The scream caught his attention. And at least stopped Dogby in her tracks.

"Oh!"

Tony looked down at Dogby, then tied her to the tree in a hurry. He ran away from the scene for a moment, so he could hide and power up, then find another route to slip into the street just in case anyone else saw him. It was fast enough as he darted back into the street, spotting the youma on top of the boy.

"Keep your head down!" Camelot yelled as he ran at the monster, slamming his shoulder into the youma in an effort to free Daniel from it. He looked down at the young man, now standing over him awkwardly, one leg over him. He was lucky had hadn't landed his foot on Daniel, really.

"Are you alright?" he asked, while the youma gathered itself for another attack.

It all happened so fast. The monster was about to bring it's other leg down on him, and Daniel was quite certain he was a goner. He'd never been so close to one of these things before ! He'd always worried from the distance, and now...

Well, whatever impending doom the purple-haired boy saw coming did not come to pass. A man came out of nowhere and knocked the monster away, and reflexes kicked in - he backed the HELL away.

"I-I-Im okay." He thought, He hoped. Damn.

Camelot looked at Daniel, recognizing him from the library. He was one of the regular patrons, and that made Camelot dislike the youma even more. He nodded his head, smiling when the young man said he was alright. There wasn't too much truth in it, Camelot could see Daniel was shaken and scared, but at least he didn't have any obvious bleeding wounds to worry about.

At the moment.

The youma turned on them and charged while the knight was checking in with the civilian. It tried to leap on the knight, angry to be tackled, and Camelot braced himself. He planted his feet and lifted his shield, the Youma sinking his fangs into the shield. Pain shot through Camelot's arm, and he let out a yelp of surprise, but it wasn't due to the youma managing to get his teeth through the wood.

His arm had been broken in a recent fight. Camelot had to deal with that injury while trying not to get any more. Of course it had been his shield arm, which meant it was constantly getting knocked and he was in a lot of pain quite often because of it. He half worried it would never heal right this way.

"You should probably get to some cover," Camelot called, struggling with the youma, which was now stuck by its face to the Page's arm.

At least Daniel wouldn't need much more convincing in the matter. No, he was quite happy to leave this situation up to his would-be savior - he scrambled away as soon as he got back on his feet, eventually ending back against the tree and distracted by a bark.

...Wait, that was Tony's dog, wasn't it ? What was she doing here ? More importantly, where was Tony ?

Oh, crap.

Dogby wanted to go over to Daniel, tugging at her leash for all she was worth. She liked hiding when there were scary things going on, but more than that she liked hiding with someone to comfort her over being all alone. She couldn't get to him, though, yipping helplessly.

Camelot heard her, but he couldn't do much about it at the moment.

The youma lunged at him and a long appendage, almost a tentacle but not quite, lashed out. It slammed into Camelot's chest and sent him sprawling backwards, skidding along the floor and left dazed for a moment. His instincts told him to get to his feet though, and he managed it.

In time to see the youma darting toward Daniel and Dogby. It was lightning fast, and Camelot struggled to chase after it.

"Get out of the way!" He called, hoping Daniel wouldn't try to run away from the thing. That would only make it chase him, and Camelot behind it. While Camelot was fast, the youma was much faster. Of the three of them, Daniel would be the slowest.

It wouldn't go well.

And so, Camelot was about to learn a very important lesson - people who had never gone face to face with youma before rarely ever did what you hoped they would do.

That is, Daniel did exactly what he shouldn't have done - run like hell. Grap the poor dog and run like hell.

Oh s**t oh s**t oh s**t oh s**t....

"No! Daniel!"

He yelled it without thinking. He had done this once before, with a young girl who often visited his library. One of his patrons, and it seemed he always had to go to extreme lengths to make sure they stayed safe. He knew Daniel hadn't introduced himself to the knight.

Maybe he could pretend it was just magical knight thing.

The youma tore after Daniel, revealing that the limb it had hit Camelot with was more like a tail. It had three of them. And three legs. It wouldn't be surprising if it had three eyes, as well. The Page ran after them both, realizing that Dogby was in the line of fire as well.

Now he had to save them twice as much.

The youma leaped in the air, onto the side of a building and Camelot kept running straight. It bounced off the building, the slow down of it landing just enough for Camelot to get close enough to Daniel to tackle him down. He tried to be careful of both the human and the dog and then, just as suddenly as it happened, Camelot was dragged off of Daniel and into the street with the youma, wrestling with it after it pounced on him.

"HIDE SOMEWHERE!" he yelled at Daniel, sounding frustrated but only because he was currently trying not to get his throat ripped out by, surprise, three rows of teeth.

Daniel didn't quite have the time to ponder why this strange man knew his name. Really, he had more pressing worries.

Like not being eaten, for once. Or being tackled down by strange beings with shields, rather. The impact wasn't kind, but at least he'd stopped running like an idiot.

Hide... Hide... Hide... Oh ! Daniel was back on his feet then he made his way to the alley. His lankiness made it easy to hide in between the dumpster and the wall. It didn't smell very good, through. "Sorry, little buddy." Daniel whispered at his unfortunate canine companion.

...This situation looked utterly familiar. In fact, he was pretty certain he had seen this before. Only with roles just slightly reversed.

Turnabout was fair play ? Themis wasn't that much of an a*****e, through. He jumped off the roof, landing behind the creature. "Good lord, this s**t is nasty." The senshi took a good grap of the tentacle tail. "Why do you always get the nastiest of these ********, Camelot ?"

No matter. A good yank and the youma dropped the page.

Dogby was squished against Daniel by her own choice, as if trying to bury herself in his clothes or the protective shield that was his arms. She did not like all the chaos and she wanted to get away from it as best she could. Wiggling helplessly, she whined at him with such pitiful sadness that it sounded like she was crying.

She was definitely not a guard dog.

Camelot was worried he might have hurt Daniel with his tackle, but he didn't have too much time to think about it. He was trying to turn the youma so he could pin it to the floor, kicking his feet and thrashing as the thing whipped its tail at him from over its shoulders.

When one of its tails was grabbed, though, it looked back at the intruder angrily.

"I don't know!" Camelot yelled helplessly, under the vicious growling of the youma. "I'm lucky I guess."

His voice, though strained, sounded relieved. He was glad to see Themis, or at least hear him, though he was still a bit busy with getting himself to his feet now that he could scramble away from the three legged monster and get up. Once he was righted he looked at Themis, taking a breath.

"Thanks for the help," he said, rubbing his arm for a moment before moving to smack the youma in the head with his shield.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 05, 2011 6:16 pm

"No problem." Wait, that arm... ? Well, he had fought with a broken arm, so it wasn't like he could scold Camelot for it. Still... not the best idea.

Oh well. First things first - dust the youma.

"Use your surroundings." ..Had Themis just slid into teacher mode to a man who could easily have been his father ? ...Yes, yes, he had. "For example, you have..." Two hands caught two of the tails, while he did his best to avoid the third. He caught momemtum, then smashed the youma against the wall. "A lovely wall here, for example... If you can make them dizzy or distract them, dusting them comes easier."

"It's okay, it's okay..." He whispered soothingly to the pup burring herself against his chest, head turned toward the chaos and wide golden eyes looked as the monster was smashed against a wall by... well, he'd only seen a flash of white.

"Mein Gott..."

Too bad he lacked the presence of mind of filming the scene with his phone. His father would have definitively believed him now !

Camelot, despite their usual relationship of he being the mentor and Themis seeking his advice or company, was more than happy to listen to the 'older' senshi's directions now. After all, Themis had been in the fighting and powered game much longer than Camelot had, so he had every right to give him directions.

And Camelot did his best to follow them.

"Excellent point," he called, looking around for anything else that might be of use. His can had vanished when he powered up, of course, so he couldn't resort to his usual helpful tool. He moved to take advantage of the youma being stunned by its abrupt introduction to the wall, though, removing his shield from his broken arm so he could slam it into the youma's neck.

Always painful, and difficult to recover from right away, especially with the Page's added strength helping him along. At least, that was Camelot's goal. Then they could destroy it.

Dogby continued to whine, her eyes on the fight. Or rather, on Camelot. She nuzzled against Daniel, though, wiggling and whining, worried, it seemed, though it could easily be read as worry for herself and just general dislike for the chaos.

Daniel didn't spot anything unusual in the dog's behavior - he was scared shitless, so it wasn't such a stretch to think that so was she. "It's okay, it's okay, puppy." What was her name again ? Drat. "It's okat, shhh..."

He certainly didn't want the monster to hear them and find them.

Hell yeah ! Now that was what he was talking about !

"Yeah, like that ! A good hit should dust it, now. Shall we ?"

Hey, he had nothing against double-tapping youma.

Camelot looked at Themis and, despite how harried he felt by the youma jumping on him in the first place, grinned. He nodded his head.

Team work, a thing of wonder. Plus, it made killing youma more... fun?

Camelot wasn't sure it was supposed to be fun: it was supposed to be a job, or a requirement, to keep people safe. Still, they had the youma down now, so they needed to finish it off. However they accomplished that was up to them.

He moved to get his hit in, setting it up for Themis to finish the thing off fluidly. A two person one two shot. Very slick.

Dogby didn't mind not being called by her name, though she seemed soothed regardless. Her wiggling ebbed to a slow and soft kicking every now and then, not as scared now because the big scary thing seemed to be down and not moving. Still, if it got up again she was going to flip her s**t.
