Rainbow Sky trotted along through the semi-high grasses of the plains. She had seen some butterflies flittering along the wildflowers and was now playing tag with them.. or at least giving it a good try, careful not to harm any of the living creatures or plants around her. It was a good day with a clear sky overhead dotted by only a few white puffy clouds and a cool breeze drifting down from the mountains in the distance. Yes, today was a good day for good things to happen, Sky could just feel it in the air.

Itzel sat silently under a rather broad tree. Her eyes were shut, but she was fully aware of all that was around her. At the moment, she seemed to be meditating. The sounds of birds chirping, leaves dancing in the wind, and someone drawing closer filled the air. Wait... someone was coming closer? The kirin mare quickly opened her eyes and pushed herself up onto her light pink hooves as she let her eyes trace the landscape until she saw a mare with similar scales as herself. Another kirin in these parts?

A flash of white and rainbow caught Sky's eye and she turned to see another kirin there like herself, only with white fur rather than blue. How strange to find a fellow kirin and one with similar colored scales. Trotting over, she grinned at the other mare. "Hello, there."

Itzels violet eyes followed the other kirin mare before she bowed her head slightly and smiled. "Hello!" She watched the mare, wondering if she was from the same herd as herself. Part of her hoped not. If she was from the same herd, Itzel had to be on her best behavior. "Where might you come from, friend?" Her hooves nervously pawed at the ground for a second before she stopped herself and stared at the mare with a smile. Where were the manners she learned while growing up?

"I'm from the mountains. I didn't think there were any other kirin with scales quite like mine," the mare said, smiling. "Oh.. where are my manners? I'm Rainbow Sky, but friends all just call me Sky. It's nice to meet you."

Itzel let a sigh of relief escape past her maw. She wasn't from her old herd. "Really? I used to know only a few that had scales like ourselves. Not many, though." The white and rainbow mare smiled as she listened closely to the other mare's introduction. "Ah, yes and I'm Itzel." Her thin tail twitched slowly behind her as she looked around for a moment. "Have you done very much exploring in this area?"

Sky shook her head. "Honestly, I have not. I have only been in this area a little while, but I like it already." She smiled at the other kirin. "Are you from around here?"

Itzel peeked around at their surroundings, noting an area she would like to explore, if this mare didn't mind joining her. "I'm from an area where a herd of kirin protect an area somewhat like this." She knew the area well and if she wished to return, she could. For now, however, she wished to remain away from her past. "Would you like to explore those trees over there?" She was curious and hoped this mare wouldn't mind a little bit of exploring.

"Sure!" Sky laughed, looking over at the trees her new friend was indicating. "Maybe they will have some of the yummy red fruits on them. I forget what they are called since we don't have them in the mountains." She started walking toward the trees.
