Should I apply/do I have a shot, at getting the highly coveted "brass captain" position?
Basic Facts About Me: ~im 16, 17 on June 10th. ~senior next year. ~plays trumpet ~1 year in concert band(1st chair), 2 years in the honors band (played 2nd) ~lead trumpet in jazz ensemble this year, 3rd (out of 6) last year ~lead trumpet in Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI Open Class) ~loves marching band and drum corps ~taught a person to play trumpet very well, and she plays in college now ~I always work with the freshman to help them out
I don't really know what else there is to me, but someone on here knows they wanna help me write an essay biggrin . I really want this position because I have an undying love for this activity, and my knowledge gained from drum corps this uncoming summer will be invaluable on the field. I feel like I could really turn our hornline into something special, but yet again I don't know if I'm qualified razz

~im 16, 17 on June 10th.
~senior next year.
~plays trumpet Brass instrument=brass captain. So there ya go, pretty qualified right there i would sayXD
~1 year in concert band(1st chair), 2 years in the honors band (played 2nd) You have playing knowledge, crucial for a "top" rank
~lead trumpet in jazz ensemble this year, 3rd (out of 6) last year Again, a top player,w hich means you can help others with musical knowledge
~lead trumpet in Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI Open Class) I wish our top brass players were that awesomeXD Ours only have igh spots in regionals going for them
~loves marching band and drum corps Nothing is more important then this.
~taught a person to play trumpet very well, and she plays in college nowYou know how to teach and can teach well, important in student staff possitions.
~I always work with the freshman to help them out A student leader who doesn't reach out is not a student leader at all. Its important that you show the younger students they are welcome there, otherwise they will not enjoy it.

Dude, even if you think you're not qualified, I would try anyways. That's what I am going to do. I know my competition, I know how good they are, but I will still try. I will be a senior my 2nd marching year, but I have a lot of experience with playing. You are looking at typing from someone who made 1st chair trombone as a freshman against many good seniors.
