For those of you who don't known Dr. Kevorkian is an (in)famous doctor who helped terminally ill patients commit suicide in a 'humane' way. He's widely controversial and was only released from prison due to his poor health.

It's controversial for a reason, personally I can see assisted suicide for terminally ill, but the problem with Dr. Kevorkian is that he would help people kill themselves if they just told him they were ill. There's a few cases of people not actually being terminally ill-or ill at all for that matter-tricking him into setting them to his death machine. He also had a macabre habit of photographing people's eyes as they died. Oh yeah, he also sent a video of him helping someone die to the news...so...he was just a little messed up. So yeah, he's not the best example for someone who's preaching the 'greater good' in which he was also (in)famous for. There's a reason why he was largely rejected from the medical community.

As for assisted suicide otherwise, we do it for our pets. Why not for people? I think if it's done by medical professionals it should be fine, it's harsh, but imagine someone who has a stage 4 tumor and it just sitting there wasting away in a hospital bed. There's no hope for recovery, why make them suffer if they choose not to?

I'm, personally, pro-choice. the reason why I'm not pro-life is because, ya know, if my father rapes me and I get pregnant with my own sibling at age 10 I think I should be entitled to an abortion. I do not however support abortion as a form of birth control, I think there should be a damn good reason for it (like above). Which means that I actually only believe in abortion for a minority reasons, but pro-life is something of an all or nothing deal (at least from my experience with it).
