Hrnnng. Groanspring.
Most of the time, West didn't mind the stupid site. It had certainly made it easier to arrange meetings with other students and see what teachers were up to without seeming like he gave a crap, but lately... those questions. Some anonymous a*****e had made him throw his phone across the room over those questions.
West really didn't understand why they had pissed him off so much. Or maybe he did. No. Riding that train of thought only pissed him off more.
He shook his head, grumbling incomprehensible grumblings as he turned his attention to the building he found himself standing in front of.
The demon had only been inside the ghost dorms once and he wasn't particularly relishing the opportunity to return. When it came to living quarters, he vastly preferred his race's tendency toward opulence rather than this space, which he considered dark and cold. Oh well. He was only here to harass Holly into going somewhere else anyway. A long time ago she had asked him a question, and he kind of felt she deserved an answer. He figured if she told anybody about it, he would just kill them, but he really hoped she didn't tell. Whether he knew it or not, it was a test.
West made it to the ghost fox's door without a problem, the numbering scheme here fairly straightforward as far as he could tell. He hoped she was actually in her room. He hadn't thought to call to let her know he was coming, plus there was that whole... problem with his phone.

Classes sucked. Why'd she even have to go to this school anyway? Only a few good things came out of this place. Mostly the friends which she didn't have before. Or really didn't remember if she had any. More bad things came out of it, or so it seemed. Mostly those trips. But now she had homework which was clearly one of the worst inventions of all time.
Early she had gone to run errands, messed around on groanspring, but now it was work time. She'd get it done now and just not have to worry about it. Until it was due anyway.
Currently she was sitting at her desk. One of the few things in the room. A bed was there too mostly because she discovered how comfortable they were in human form. Even if she didn't have to sleep. Holly was also munching on one of the skinnamon rolls she got from Tset earlier.
There was a sound outside her door.
A visitor? The ghoul barely ever got visitors at her dorm. Mostly because nothing exciting goes on in the ghost dorms.
"Coming." The ghoul got up, went to the door, and opened it.
It was West.
What was he doing here? Did remind her of the yelling she had heard earlier. "What do you want?"

Oh, right. Knocking. That might have helped. Luckily, Holly had managed to hear him shuffling around out here on her own.
"Why?" He chuckled. "Do I need t'want somethin'?" West peered past her through the door into her room, not making any attempt to hide the fact that he was doing so. He was curious to see what sort of stuff the ghoul had lying around and what she might have been doing before he stopped by. Finally, he looked down at her and crossed his arms over his chest. "Fine. Y'asked me why I was smilin' tha'day yer smiley... cat thing stole yer pin. I was bored so I was gonna come tellya. Nott'ere though. An' y'can't tell anyone else. 'Less y'don't wanna know anymore."
That wasn't the only reason he had come, but it was a decent place to start. He was going to need to work up to... the other thing, but her reaction to this first thing would likely inform whether the other thing was even something he wanted to do at all anymore. He resisted the urge to roll his eyes while he waited for her answer. This whole thing was stupid. He wanted to just leave, but his feet wouldn't move.

She was a fox after all. If she couldn't hear someone outside her door then she'd be a sucky fox though she wasn't in said fox form it did carry over some. Anyways, shuffling sounds usually meant other students as minipets weren't large enough to sound like that.
Holly rolled her eyes and grinned a bit. "Well yeah, you don't seem to be the type to show up some where for no reason." Especially at her room, a ghoul's room, which he'd never been to. If he did take a look behind her at the room (easy since he was taller than she was) he would have seen it was quite barren but there was a bunch of paper spread out on the desk and her bed. As well as one or two minipets roaming around somewhere, if they were in the room at all.
Oh. That. She'd remembered but hadn't seen him since then to bug him about it. Holly was surprised that he practically volunteered to tell her since it seemed back then she'd have to force the information out of him. "If not here, then where? Think someone is gonna phase through the wall and hear or something?" In all honesty that would probably happen. "Guess I'll listen since you decided to grace me with your presence and I'll not tell if you don't want too. I might be sneaky but I'm not that mean."
She just had to know what it was now. He seemed the type to never just talk to anyone. The entire situation just seemed a bit awkward. "Where to then?"

The look he gave her was equal parts uneasiness and sarcasm. "Yeah. 't's'not like tha'couldn't 'appen'ere," he said, darting his eyes around the hall. "Ghosts," he muttered as he shook his head, any implied disdain over her species quickly canceled out by the grin that followed. It appeared he had chosen to remember what the floatier denizens of Amityville were capable of today and it was clear he didn't want any of them spying.
"Outside," he decreed. "Bring... alla that if y'want." He gestured at the papers strewn about her room. He wouldn't be much help with her homework, but maybe she would have some grand epiphany about her work while they walked. Maybe she would be so engrossed in it that she wouldn't actually hear what he had to say.

Holly grinned. "We do have some boundaries but ya know, some tend to forget." Most of the other ghosts were fine when it came to privacy but there were a few that just forgot. Understandable, since their minds tended to wander. At least he didn't forget about ghosts and their abilities, unlike the first time they had met. Did he actually suggest that she take all of her homework with them? It couldn't hurt. She grabbed one of the books and a few papers. Worst that could happen was she got a little work done too. "Fine, couldn't hurt."
Stuffing her paper into the book she made her way out the door and shut it. No need to lock it. Ghosts didn't use the doors to much and those that did never really came to their dorms. "Have a place in mind or what?" He was the one that wanted to go outside after all. Holly didn't mind, an excuse to get out of her room.
Outside she look around and shrugged. "Those benches down the walkway?" She pointed towards them and started walking. "So, was that yelling I heard early you?" Most likely was but couldn't hurt to be sure.

West nodded at the ghoul's choice of seating area, keeping pace with her as they made their way over to the benches. Another boil might have offered to carry her book, but West didn't think it was necessary. She could take care of herself, in fact, he wouldn't have liked her half as much if she simpered and fished for chivalry like so many ghouls around here. He glanced at her and shook his head. This was the stupidest thing he had ever done. He should have stayed in his room or gone over to Yaya's to b***h... but he couldn't very well talk to Yaya about Yaya, could he? He was pretty sure the marid already knew how he felt about the topic anyway. And it wasn't like any of his other friends were around at the moment. Fine. He didn't really have any other friends.
He might have simply turned and stalked off in the face of the off-putting circling of his thoughts, but then Holly spoke and he was forced to pay attention again. "Yelling?" He shot her a perplexed look as he dropped onto the bench they had just reached. Had he been yelling around the ghost dorms? Had she been able to hear him yelling all the way from the demon dorms? Huh. "Yeah. Guesso. Some Candlejackin' nosy b*****d was askin' alla these Groanspring questions 'bout who I liked at Amityville. Nobody! An' even if I did, it's nonnuh'is business anyway." West's brow furrowed and his lips compressed in a thin line as he leaned back on the bench and crossed his arms, legs extending out in front of him. Why in the hell had he said all that? Idiot. "Y'gonna read? Go on then." Any intention he had of telling her anything personal had been temporarily derailed by thoughts of that interweb asshat.

Really she just picked one of the closest places to sit that she knew of. Never did Holly think she'd have this darn school's layout fully memorized. Any thoughts of the boil, or any in fact, being chivalrous never seemed to cross her mind. Who'd want to be such a burden anyway? Holly held the book at her side as they approached the benches. She glanced at West for just a moment. What was it that he wanted to talk about? It seemed out of place for him to seek her out. Had he tried to make off she would have grabbed him by the collar and made him tell her what ever it was. He was the one that wanted to come outside after all.
Holly came to the bench and sat crossed legged on it, book placed on her lap. She could have sworn that yelling earlier had been him. Ghosts didn't tend to yell and it sounded full of ... rage. Sounded like she'd been right though. "Must have been anonymus right? Else I guess you'd have gone and found them?" Who knows what West would do to someone who'd ask him embarrassing questions. What she found interesting was the fact he sounded upset about it. Again, strange.
Her eyes rolled. "Of course I'm gonna read, brought this book didn't I?" She waved said book in the air for a moment before opening it. "Er, I can listen while I read ya know. Unless you want to hear about my amazing reading assignment." Yeah, sarcasm.

"Hmm."
Whether that was an answer to her question about him pummeling the Groanspring punk or an indication that he wanted to hear about her assignment or just a random grunt was unclear, but West didn't make another sound for several minutes following his vague response. He instead stared straight ahead, eyes narrowed in apparent irritation, and every so often he bit his lip or sighed, depending on whichever action he hadn't taken last.
He mulled over just how to go about telling Holly what he wanted to tell her, finally deciding to just spit it out. Sort of. It had already been built up to astronomical heights at this point, but there was little he could do about that now. She was so going to laugh at him.
"Holly," he said, his tone somewhere between questioning and commanding, "You've hearda demon marks, right?"

Holly looked up from her book at him for just a moment. What kind of answer was that? She couldn't really tell what he was responding to either. From what she could gather she hadn't heard of any dead (well besides the obvious) or missing students so he must have never found the Groansping culprit. Now he just looked pissed, awesome.
The ghoul just went back to her book while West did whatever it was he was doing. If he was going to talk, well, he'd talk when he wanted too.
A few more minutes later he said her name. His tone of voice was ... strange. Demon marks? "Kind of, I kind of know what they are about. Why?" Was what he was upset about earlier have to do with demon marks? He didn't seem the type to actually agree to using those at all. Again, another strange thing.

He nodded, then continued speaking without hesitation, almost as if he was afraid he wouldn't keep talking if he didn't do so quickly.
"When I first got ta this school, I made a deal with another demon 'cause I was curious'bout what th'marks felt like." West paused, sitting up straighter and resting his hands on his thighs. When he spoke again, it was slower and more fervent somehow, but still just as quiet. "They suck. Don't get marked. Don't make any deals with demons. Ever."
He sat back hesitantly, looking about as uncomfortable as he felt. Had that really been all he had come to bother her about? Now that he had said it all out loud, the whole thing seemed terribly anticlimactic. Why would she care that getting marked had been one of the most stifling experiences of his life? Would she even think it was shameful for a demon to be marked by another demon? Maybe no one cared.
"So, yeah. I was'appy that day y'lost yer pin 'cause my contract'ad just ended. That's it." He pushed a furrow into the dirt with his heel and didn't look at her.

Well it looked like he was finally going to say whatever it was he had come to say. Holly folded down the corner of her page and closed her book. This was quite possibly one of the strangest and most drawn out ordeals conversations she'd had to the day.
She listened. It was surely interesting. Holly herself was curious as the how exactly those demon marks worked. How could they even make those marks and how'd it keep you to your end of the deal? West's voice sounded different, she'd never heard it like that. Holly scoffed, sounded like something a parent would say (or how she imagined). "Yes Dad." Really she wasn't sure how to respond to any sort of concern towards her.
Still she wasn't sure how else to respond. She would have flat out made fun of him but it didn't seem entertaining to at this point. Nor did she have great words of wisdom for him. He did help that one day, she wouldn't have been able to get the pin back so quickly had he not helped. That was an awkward day but luckily he hadn't mentioned it any further.
That'd make sense. Him being so uptight about that deal, he would be happy it was over. The ghoul was thinking about asking who the other demon was but that probably wasn't the best idea. "Well ... didn't have to do anything to bad for ya deal right and it's over now I take it?" Hopefully the boil would just try and forget about the entire thing and just never get marked again. He still seemed really uptight about the entire thing. "I won't tell anyone either about you getting marked, and uh, thanks for the other day when you helped with my pin."

West was silent again for a long while as he continued to push his heel into the dirt at their feet. On the one hand, she didn't seem to be taking the threat of demon marking very seriously. But on the other, she hadn't made fun of him and it appeared she was even thanking him for helping her get her pin back.
"It was nothin'," he muttered. And, really, it hadn't been. To be honest, all he had done was fall out of a tree. "An' no, I didn't hafta do anythin'too bad." All in all, the types of deals he'd heard the demons around Amityville were making weren't really that awful, but then again, they all had clearly outlined terms, unlike his. Still, it would be better if she stayed away from that sort of thing altogether.
He shot Holly a glance out of the corner of his eye. It appeared she had taken to wearing that hoodie she'd seemed so ashamed of, only with much less... shame. He was tempted to poke fun just because he could, but he supposed since she seemed to be refraining from mockery, he could do the same. "That day with yer pin? With yer clothes? The ones like these clothes?" He frowned. Well now he just sounded like an idiot. "They're nice. I like 'em. I meant t'say so then, but I was jus'surprised."

Holly picked her book again and opened it. It seems her conversation partner went silent again. He was doing that a lot this day. What was going through that one's head? The ghoul wasn't too worried about demon marks since she thought you had to choose to be in an agreement, so she'd just never make one.
Nothing? True. She knew he didn't really do much then but he helped and that is what counted right? It was also entertaining. "Not to bad? Good then right." Holly wasn't going to press him into telling more. Really did she want to know what it really was.
Of course he mentioned the hoodie. That day he'd first seen it was the first day she had worn it. It was strange to go from being completely covered to a lot less clothing, well less for her. She grinned but then rolled her eyes. "Happen to be the same clothes as that day, so yah." Did they look different or something? Talk about being surprised. Did he just compliment her? Weirdest day ever. "Er, thanks? Wanted to try something different ya know? Can't wear pajamas all the time." Truth be told it wasn't the first time she'd worn something different, scarentines she wore that infernal dress.

"Guess not," he muttered, his voice barely audible. He certainly recalled her Scarentine's dress all too well, how much he had despised it because it made her look like every other ghoul he had ever met when he had been so sure she was like none of them. If she had seen fit to continue wearing her pajamas, maybe he would still be able to see her as a partner in crime rather than... a... partner.
Oh no.
West sat up straight and took a shaky breath, his hands balling into fists at his sides. He liked Holly. He liked Holly. Everything seemed to click into place with painful clarity. The disturbing discomfort he had felt while dancing with her that had completely disappeared when he took the floor with Yaya, his desire to murder that Groanspring loser who had seemed so intent on teasing him about a subject he despised, even now, sitting on this bench, spilling secrets about demon marks and giving compliments and... Jackdammit. This was not how things were supposed to go. He shook his head. No no no no no. This was not happening again. He turned to face the ghost ghoul, intending to ask her the other thing he had planned on asking so he could just leave, but... s**t. He had thought his question would be a joke, the whole event an opportunity for the pair of them to make fun of their classmates, drink fancy drinks, and not dance under any circumstances, but it didn't seem so funny anymore. West swallowed, his throat suddenly dry.
"Um. Didja hear'bout prom? Y'goin'?" Totally. Smooth.
