Far away and long ago, in the far reaches of space as we know it, beyond the Milky Way Galaxy and breaching into the Virgo Supercluster, there was a kingdom that served the Princess Chronos. They lived on the edges of society, a wild place where Chaos sprang up with alarming regularity and put the lives of every member of that Kingdom in almost daily danger. A deal, founded in romance, was struck between the Zodiac Kingdom and that of the White Moon; they would trade the service of their senshi for sanctuary and protection upon the planets of the Sol System, and use their Crystal for the benefit of all who swore to the Silver Millennium.

The Surrounding is a construct created through the trust and hope of the Zodiac Guard through its members, and reinforced by the unity of all within its confines. Its creation was powered by the force of thirteen Zodiacs, their Guardian Cat, their Princess, her Prince, and her Handmaidens; with this force of twenty people, they created a barrier strong enough to hold all Chaos at the very edges of Silver Millennium space. If you swore to the Silver Millennium and were at peace with their rule, the Surrounding enveloped your planet.

At each position on the clock, there rests a Zodiac outpost. Midnight is Aries, the traditional captain; it proceeds in order, with Cancer at three o'clock, Libra at six o'clock, and Capricorn at nine o'clock. Chronos Castle, the home of the Zodiacs, site of their peoples' pilgrimages, and their Temple Ananke, rests adjacent to Libra. They are connected by a gossamer-seeming road, as wide as a four-lane highway, of multiple colors, with a golden, whimsical barrier which appears only when someone is about to fall off the provided road. Near each Outpost, the Surrounding takes on an appearance to match the outpost it nears.

The appearance changes are as follows:
Aries -- ??? (Roman Gladiator theme)
Taurus -- ??? (Matador/Spain theme)
Gemini -- ??? (Scotland theme)
Cancer -- ??? (Ballerina theme?...)
Leo -- A roadway that blossoms under the feet of the traveler with beautiful, intricate artworks in rich colors. (Rococo theme)
Virgo -- A roadway made of gleaming white marble, matching the temple of her Outpost. (Ancient Rome/Greece theme)
Libra -- ??? (Regency theme)
Scorpio -- ??? (Modern theme)
Sagittarius -- ??? (Medieval theme)
Capricorn -- ??? (Frozen North theme)
Aquarius -- A roadway tiled with mosaics in simple geometric patterns, matching the floors in the Outpost. (Arabic/Middle Eastern theme)
Pisces -- ??? (French culture theme)
Chronos -- Remains in the standard theme.

THE SURROUNDING PASSPORT

Congratulations, you're now the holder of a brand-new SURROUNDING PASSPORT! Once upon a time, these were gifted to the diplomats who visited the Surrounding from worlds all around the universe. Now, since you're the only remaining representative of your world, it falls to you. You might have some questions, and here is the post where we will answer them!

How can I get a Surrounding Passport?
If you participated in the Breach battle at the end of the Restore the Surrounding metaplot, you are automatically assumed to have one. This is because all senshi and knights are assumed to have participated in the great Sailor Galaxy Attack that defeated the Negaverse and restored the Surrounding, thus tying their own energy and power into the road! Without these characters, there would be no Surrounding and no passports, so they are automatically assumed to have been given access. You cannot say you were there if you did not post more than 1,000 words across your collected posts; we won't count, but if you only posted once or twice, please use this route to getting your passport:

If you did not participate in the Breach battle, you must approach a Zodiac for one! Passports are gifts that acknowledge your ties to the Zodiac and feed into the power of the Opal Crystal; they don't make you subservient to the Zodiac, they simply mark that you have made an alliance with them and will come to assist if monsters attack the Surrounding. How you obtain a Passport is up to you and the individual Zodiac you plot with, but it's known that you must clasp hands after solemnly swearing to protect Sol System before a Passport will appear.

Here's the information you need to use your Surrounding Passport.
SURROUNDING PASSPORTS CAN:
  • Take you to the Surrounding, as often as you can access your Wonder (3rd- once a week 2nd- once every 2 weeks 1st- once every 3 weeks)
  • Alert you to Chaos assaults in space. It will get very, very hot, and the symbol of the Outpost being attacked will glow.
  • Allow you use of the Surrounding's speed properties--no more being shuttled around by the Zodiac!

SURROUNDING PASSPORTS CANNOT:
  • Be used by more than one person. You cannot bring a guest to the Surrounding with you, or lend it out to a friend to let them go to the Surrounding. Only Sailor Bicycle can use Sailor Bicycle's Passport.
  • Let you into any Wonder, landmark, or Outpost on the Surrounding. You'll need to get an escort of the Zodiac, Handmaiden or Knight who guards that place to go in.
  • Be stolen! They don't appear while you're in your civilian form unless you're a Knight; for senshi, they're attached to your cell phone like a charm would be. If a Chaos being tries to steal it, they will find that they simply cannot touch it!
  • Be used to communicate. They are a one-way device!

While you're on the Surrounding, though, there's some courtesy rules you must follow or your Passport will be revoked. A lot of them are common sense, but they're outlined here just to make sure there can be no accidental slip-ups. In character actions do have in character consequences, no matter what out of character circumstances prompted them.

DO:
  • Explore the Surrounding road.
  • Hold group meetings there--Chaos can't sense you on the Surrounding!
  • Have fun speed path races.
  • Consult with Zodiacs and Knights on past relationships you might have had.

DO NOT:
  • Hold a group meeting without informing the Zodiac at least a week beforehand.
  • Fight a youma or Chaos monster without informing the Zodiac (and GMs) at least a week beforehand.
  • Kill anyone (who is Order-aligned) on the Road. The Surrounding will eject you.
  • Fight other senshi on the Road. The Surrounding will eject you.
  • Establish a relationship with the Zodiac Court/Surrounding in the past without asking the Zodiac.
  • Bring a civilian, Dark Mirror senshi or Negaverser with you to the Surrounding. It's true that you actually cannot do this, but it bears restating.

The most important thing for a non-Zodiac to remember upon going to the Surrounding is that it is not your world. It has defined rules and appearances that you must acknowledge, and that you cannot change. It is vital to the shop canon, and playing around with its appearance, or powers, or history, is not for you to do. It is their world, and they know much about it that has gone unrevealed and will not be revealed until it is absolutely necessary. We are willing to work with you! But you must be willing to respect the Zodiac's right to their territory.

If you'd like to contact the Zodiac, please PM the Chronos mule! Someone will get back to you inside a week.
