Okay, you can do this.

It wasn't an imposition right? After the recent ceremony that had welcomed the travelers looking for a new home, the clans must have been expecting unfamiliar faces.

With a calming breath the small, painted lioness stepped into the throng of her new home with the Ela. The Shadow Clan.

All around her her pride mates wandered about busy with their own duties. Caelyndei wasn't sure where she fit into the orderly chaos, awkwardly spinning in place as she tried and failed to grab the attention of anyone in passing. H-hello there I'm...

W-wait a minute, could you please...

I'm new here a-and I...

S-Skan told me to.. But her meek voice seemed not to reach them. Ears falling against the curve of her poll with an expression that was utterly confounded. Wouldn't anyone help her?

Berj watched the other lioness silently for a moment, she had joined before the excitement of the festival and she'd been wowed and lost then, to be a new face in a new place full of so many now, it was easy to get lost in the shuffle of things.

She stepped forward, out of the crowd and offered the new lioness a kind smile. "Hello there.." She said, she had once lost it all and now was slowly getting it back, and it was because of this family, this clan.

"I'm Berj, and welcome to the Shadow clan."

An obvious sense of relief washed over Caely's face upon finding herself being greeted by a buff colored lioness flecked with patches of bark brown along her backside, shoulders and flank. Unable to help but smile in return, grateful for the greeting and a bit sheepish for being so out of sorts. H...h-hello! Sorry if I'm.. making a scene. I... I don't know what to do with myself yet.

Admitting as much seemed to cause the color in cheeks to darken. Jade gaze falling to the ground beneath her feet briefly. A sudden, friendly introduction forcing her to lift her gaze again, though she seemed reluctant to. Shyly, but enthusiastically bobbing her head at the introduction. It's really really nice to finally meet someone from my own clan. I.. I was only just assigned to the shadow clan... my name.. I'm uhm.. I'm Caelyndei.

"Sssh now, your not making a scene at all." She said with a gentle smile, Berj was the oldest of twins, and had once a bushel of younger siblings, she could easily slip into the mothering role with ease.

"Well, there is always someone who could use an extra paw somewhere. I, myself was about to go fishing. An extra paw could be useful." She said with a light nod of her head, she had been ready to jump out of her skin when she first arrived, and it was because of the few friends she'd made that now she lived in almost no fear.

Almost.

Comforted by the warmth of Berj's reassurance, the earthy brown rogue child shuffled a little closer to her new companion. Careful to keep a respectable distance of the lioness despite her desire to nuzzle up close, glad simply to feel as though she was finally falling into step on a path through life that had been meant for her all along. Y-yea? I guess that's good to know...

Truthfully, if she could go an entire day without making an a** out of herself, it would have been considered a triumph. Wavering eyes suddenly lighting up at the offer. At first only in delight at the thought of being of use to her newly acquired clan--and then with more enthusiasm when Berj invited Cae to accompany her on her fishing trip. R... really?! I can come? I've never gone fishing before.. is.. is it hard? Are you sure I won't be in the way?

She chuckled softly now, "You wont be in the way, though it takes a little practice and patients.." She warned gently before she offered a kind smile, and a friendly nudge.

Picking up the basket, she nodded her head in the direction of the river. She was careful not to walk to quickly, so that she wouldn't lose the new friend she was making. She knew how it felt to be new to the clan, she was still a newish member herself, she would have to rememeber to let the new lass meet Howi and his grumpy uncle, she thought with a grin.

W-well if you think... if you don't think I'll be in the way! Slightly reassured by the warmth of the spotted female's smile an the warmth of her voice, Caelyndei tried to take Berj's words of wisdom to heart. Fishing probably wasn't easy. It was doubtful that Cae would successfully catch anything today, but she would certainly try her hardest not to let her new friend down!

Encouraged by the nudge, the painted lioness picked up a careful pace beside Berj, happily jogging along while admiring the basket that hung from the jaws of her companion. Clever! Bringing something along to carry the fish back home in! Probably not anything that she would have thought of herself. A curious gaze eventually drifting to the landscape that lay sprawling ahead of them, all too eager to reach the river and maybe, learn something new!

It was hard to talk, and carry the basket. But she glanced over at her compaion and smiled, with a gentle nod of her head. The landscape around them was beautiful, she enjoyed it quiet a bit..it was different from the land she was raised in but still she felt at home here.

Coming upon the river, she put the basket down and smiled. "Well, here we are. Watch carefully.." Silently, Berj stepped into the water, carefully walking out away from shore, she stood still.

She waited for the fish to grow used to her standing there, as she brought her face as close to the water as she could, and as she watched, she launched her face into the water and yanked out a squirming fish.

Delighted by the inviting smile Berj offered her, Caely seemed content to stroll at the lioness' side enjoying the scenery. They didn't need to talk for her to enjoy the company of one of her Shadow Clan kin and considering the giraffe colored female was the first she had met thus far, the little painted rogue was over the moon that they appeared to be getting on so well. Berj was a kind lioness and Cae was certain that as long as she had someone like her around it wouldn't be hard to feel like she belonged.

As they drew up upon the edge of the the river small paws danced the slender Shadow girl from side to side with excitement. Bobbing her head in an obedient nod and wide, alert eyes. She would watch, unblinkingly as the tan figure slid into the water. Waiting with baited breath for something to happen as Berj made her stand off with her prey and then suddenly--in a motion too quick for Caelyndei to be able to follow--snapped up one of the wriggling fish.

W-wow! That.. that's amazing!! You were so quick! I couldn't even see you grab it! A trill of wonderment falling from her muzzle, this was way more exciting than hunting!

Making sure to keep her grip on the wiggling fish, she bit down hard enough to pierce the fishes heart and end the life quickly, and tossing it into the basket on the shore beside her new friend.

Berj hadnt many friends, but the few she did have were her treasures and this lioness seemed like she would become one of those good friends.

"Aye you've got to be quick about it, or else they'll swim right out of your mouth." Berj nodded. "C'mon now, you try it." She coached the other into the cool waters with her.

As the fish was tossed on shore and into the basket Caelyndei had her first chance to get up close and personal with the water dwelling creatures. A paw poking at its' scaled body, surprised by the cold, smooth texture of it and how--unlike most creatures--the color changed when she looked at it from different angles.

When Berj invited her into the river the nervous little Shadow shifted her weight awkwardly, looking up from her companion's catch with some uncertainty. Taking a deep breath the earthy paint willed herself into the river. Wading into the water step by hesitant step. O-okay, here I go!

Clearly not hesitant enough though as the lioness planted herself muzzle first into the water after slipping on a slimy, algae covered rock. Suddenly soaked and sputtering as she reeled backwards out of the water as if it had tried to drown her. This was going to be a very long day... or a very short lesson.
