Does it really matter to have accesories for your console or computer. Does it make that much of a difference to spend money on stuff you don't really need? Like a keyboard on your PS3 controller or a mic that goes around your neck (Just get the regular one!). Not to offend anyone, but I have to be honest, why?

Well I would say it depends on the quality of the hardware... for the most part i go for the 'defaults' because i too find all the "fancy" accessories too expensive.
Really the only thing I've gotten that was different from default was a limited edition Halo 3: ODST controller but, the grip on that thing is AWESOME.

ℜinny says: I hate stupid little accessories like that. I honestly hate the fact that systems are becoming computers. They're toys. If you want a computer buy one instead.

I certainly agree. I find some accessories for game console totally redundant. Such as keyboards.

Although some accessories are totally unnecessary. Some can be quite nice and provide comfort.

No. It doesn't really matter. But sometimes its just nice to have something that makes it a little easier or comfortable. No matter how redundant it may seem. People have their reasons for what they do. We may not understand their reasons, but that doesn't matter to them.

I agree for the most part. Except the controller keypad. It helps immensely when typing s**t out, no matter if it's messaging friends, adding info on your profile/credit card info or whatever. I hate going to each damn letter, takes too long for my impatient self..

I feel the same way about the Avatar Marketplace on Xbox Live. It's a complete waste of real money to buy Microsoft points to waste on dressing my avatar. It doesn't do anything. No one even pays that much attention to your avatar.

Depends on what you do.

When I played PSU on my PS2 it was essential I have a keyboard to communicate in a timely mater with others.

So I just bought some cheap USB keyboard.

I dont really see the point in the extra stuff. I take my Webcam & Keyboard off my computer and plug it in the USB ports and just go from there.

To make things easier. That's really the only reason I have for purchasing certain accessories. I have a chatpad for my Xbox 360 controller so responding to people takes far less time than it would having to go to each letter and click it.

I agree. I mean voice chat removes the need for text or a keypad. I guess it makes registering for accounts convenient but then when that's done, what use do they have? Then there's all these charge stations and rechargeable packs that are like $30 when you can just as easily buy rechargeable batteries with a charger for much less (and actually use the batteries for things other than the game controller). And Wii accessories were just plain useless. Attachments only got in the way. The only ones I find useful are things like screen protectors and protective shells for handhelds. Everything else are luxury items to waste money on.

To Others, Yes.
To Me, Sometimes.
