The circus? Well, Soljyr supposed that it would definitely be interesting.

Sometimes when Soljyr waas reading Sita her bedtime stories, he, too, was educating himself on the commodities and attractions of this different world. He'd never heard of a circus before, but had heard recently that other people had really enjoyed their visit. He figured that Sita would have a good time, and after all, the circus was only in town for a few days.

"I can' wait to see the lions! And.. And the clowns! And the big bawoons!" Sita exclaimed as he carried her up to the entrance.

"All right, sir, that'll be eight dollars for one adult and one kid," the woman at the entrance chimed, and Soljyr reached into his pockets and pulled out a few scrappy bills. After that, Sita and him continued on their merry way. Money seemed to be really important in this world, and unfortunately, he was running out of it. He needed to find a way to get some more, and quick.

Sita's eyes seemed to light up. "Woooooooow..." she breathed, taking in everything. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a giant plush lion hanging with a collection of stuffed animals. "Daddy! Look!" She reached out one hand and gestured at it as though she felt she could pick it right off the netting.

A day at the circus, Vilyum thought it would be the perfect idea. Unfortunately, things aren’t always what they seem. Áróra was eager to go, to see all the animals with tails and such, but she was the only one. Luska had no desire to; she just wanted to stay with her dolls and plush toys. He hoped that, given some more time, she would be more comfortable, going out with them all. Melody, well, apparently she was afraid of clowns. The funny thing was, until today, he didn’t even think she had ever heard of a clown, but when he showed her a pamphlet, he had picked up, the image of the clown completely petrified her. It must be some sort of instinctual fear with some people. Olivia said that she didn’t want to go if Melody wasn’t going, but he couldn’t help but think she just wanted to sleep. Luckily, Vladimir was able to babysit, again.

Their first stop, after entering, had been the snack bar. Áróra seemed particularly hungry today. If Vilyum didn’t know otherwise, he would have suspected that she was part gluttony. Really, though, she just burned through a lot of energy and she really loved snack food. In one face tentacle she held a corn dog, another one, on the opposite side of her face held a soft pretzel. Just under the pretzel, her “dessert”, was a cinnamon twist. In her left hand, she held a Styrofoam cup full of Dr. Pepper. She was all set for the show.

As she happily followed Vilyum, she caught a brief glance of a naga. Her first thought was, ‘Seth?’ Looking again Áróra realized that the naga was much too small, much too wingy, much too green haired, and much, much too female. Still, she was a cute little snake girl and had a winged tail! Áróra had to talk to her. “Wait daddy,” she exclaimed as she bolted towards the girl. “Hi! I am Áróra! What’s your name? You have a winged tail! That is so cool! Are you here to see the circus? Do you want to sit with me?”

It hadn't been long after Soljyr had placed Sita on the ground that she gathered some attention. Sita was still obsessed with the plush lion behind him. The little girl that seemed to rush up to Sita out of nowhere looked very unique, but then again, many children did. Wasn't she quite a bolt of electricity... At least, hopefully, it would help Sita forget all about the plush lion that costed significantly more than he had carried with him. Hopefully.

Sita turned around and came face to face with a child with an advantage of a few years over her. She seemed very excited, and somehow, the energy seemed to transfer into Sita and she was suddenly bouncing a little bit. "Hi Arora! My name's Sita! Thanks! I reawwy like your haiw; it's so pwetty!" Sita giggled, swinging her tail around a little bit. Arora was taking advantage of her mandible extremeties, the tentacles fastened around some snacks and refreshments. Sita was intrigued by that benefit. "Ooh! You can use d'ose to hold stuffs when you don' have any mowe hands to hold the stuffs wif."

Where was this child's guardian? Soljyr glanced around. He figured there probably wasn't any noteable sign that would distinguish her guardian from any other. Maybe he should take advantage of this distraction and purchase a juice box for Sita and a candy bar for himself. The line see--

"Daddy!" Sita called out of for the second time. Soljyr finally looked down. "Can we sit wif Awowa? She's weally cool! She likes my tail!"

Soljyr blinked a second, but hesitantly nodded. "I guess we can, but we need to meet her parents first and make sure that's okay with them," he agreed, glancing back over to the line.

Walking after Áróra, he was only walking since she was still within view, and he was very familiar with this behavior of hers; seeing other kids that looked unique and rushing towards them. She loved to make new friends. When he caught up, he saw that she had already introduced herself to a young Naga girl. He turned to the man hovering over her, assuming it was the girl’s father and introduced himself. “Hello, I am Vilyum, this one’s father,” he said as he extended one hand to shake and motioned towards Áróra with the other. “I do believe she has probably made her introduction. You would be the little naga girls guardian yes? I don’t like to assume but you are right next to her, hovering about.”

Tugging on his sleeve, Áróra exclaimed, “This is Sita! I bet she is related to Seth! Just like Nina is related to me!” She giggled at the thought. She had found Seth’s little sister! She wondered if he knew her, if not she would have to tell him the next time she saw him! Maybe he would come over to her house! Maybe Sita could come over too!

Leaning down, Vilyum said to the little naga, “Hello Sita. How are you?”

Her attention back to Sita, Áróra exclaimed, “Thanks! I like your hair too! It’s such a pretty green! I am thinking of getting a different hairstyle though.” She leaned in close to Sita and whispered, “A ponytail and two pigtails all at once!” Straightening back up, she continued with a laugh, “Yep! I hold all sorts of things with them! Would you like a bite of my corn dog, or pretzel, or cinnamon twist? They are all real good!”

"Ah, it's nice to meet you, Vilyum," Soljyr greeted the man, glancing over his shoulder at the line again. Well, at least it was getting shorter. "Yes, this is my little girl, Sita." He smiled and looked over at Sita, who was still conversing with the girl, Arora. They really seemed to be getting along, and were really fascinated by the other."You have a cute little girl, yourself. She's very energetic." He didn't want to step on any toes, that was certain, especially if they were going to all be viewing from the same area. "Uhm, they'd like to know whether or not you would mind us sitting near you guys, I think. Er.. Would you?" God he was bad at talking with people. He felt so out of place..

"Hi! I'm Sita! I'm excited to see da lions!" she said in hew sweetest, cutest voice. There was no way Vilyum could resist an "Aww" escape his lips now, Soljyr thought. If it had been directed him, he figured he'd have.

Sita giggled. "Piggytails and ponytails! D'ose are farm animuls! Daddy once let me have piggytails, and they looked pwetty." She looked over Arora's assorted snacks and pouted slightly in thought. She hadn't tried one of those before.. Then, she grinned and formed an "o" with her lips. "Ooh.. Uhm.. Can I have a bite of the cinn'minn twist, pwease?"

“It’s a pleasure, I’m sure,” Vilyum responded. “She is a cutie. Áróra is actually friends with another naga, though he is a bit older and, well, by my use of pronouns, obviously male.” Stifling a chuckle, he confirmed, “Yes, Áróra is a little ball of energy. If she had a bit of diligence in her, she would probably end up becoming a perpetual motion machine. Though she does like machines, so I don't see her having a problem with that.” When he heard the man’s question, he wasn’t the least bit surprised. The man never said that Áróra was the one to ask, but it seemed like the sort of thing she would do, not that he minded. “Sure, that’s fine; I don’t see a problem with it.”

Bent down, to be closer to eye level, he replied, ”Oh? You’re excited to see the lions? I am too! And I know Áróra is. She loves pretty much anything that has a tail.”

Giggling, Áróra added. “Not only are they farm animals, they are all tails as well! I bet you looked very pretty with pigtails, Sita. You know, when you had pigtails, you actually had 3 tails! The two pigtails and your main naga tail!” At her request for some of the cinnamon twist, Áróra extended the tentacle holding it, to the naga. “Sure, you can have some! They are really good!” Áróra may have had a love of junk food, but she also loved sharing it.

"Another naga? Odd... You wouldn't happen to mean Seth, by any chance, would you?" he asked, glancing curiously at Vilyum. He seemed very formal and calm-mannered; it made Soljyr somewhat nervous. Seth was the only other naga that he had seen, and he certainly filled Vilyum's description. "And good, I'm sure Sita will be ecstatic." He smiled. He glanced over his shoulder at the line again. Now was as good a time as any. "I'm going to try and get Sita a juice box, if you'd excuse me for a moment. Line looks manageable now. The show must be starting real soon..." He slipped off to the front counter to do just that, while Sita continued her conversation. He'd better hurry.

Sita giggled softly and nodded. "You'w wight! Fwee tails!" she laughed, looking up at Vilyum now. "Awowa loves tails? You wanna see the lions, too? What else if thewe at the s'ewcus?" she gasped, asking them both. She had seen the pictures in the bedtime books, but there had to be something she missed. But come on, what was more exciting than the lions!?
PostPosted: Sat Jun 04, 2011 4:23 am

“Oh, so you know Seth as well then? Áróra is quite fond of him; she has been trying to get him to come over to play for some time, actually.” Glancing at the line as the other man commented on it, he replied, “Sure, I can watch them both for a few. By the way, though, I don’t think I caught your name?”

Continuing to giggle, Áróra exclaimed, “Yep! Three tails!” Answering before Vilyum had a chance to; she said with a grin, “I love tails! I wish I could grow one! The lions will be great, everything will be!” Before she could answer the other girl, she had to give it some thought, she wanted to mention as many things as possible. Her right pointer resting on her lower lip, she began. “Um, let’s see, there are the lions of course, there are tigers, there are bears, they have elephants, horses, seals, llamas, and monkeys. Those are the only animals I can think of. They also have trapeze artists that fly through the air, and they have sword swallowers, and fire breathers, and clowns, and people that drive around in metal balls on motorcycles! They have ringmasters, and lion tamers, and jugglers , and the guys that clean up the elephant poo! All sorts of stuff!”

Soljyr walked back with a grape juice box for Sita and a medium Dr. Pepper for himself; he'd had it one time before and he was hesitant to try something new after it had been so refreshing. "I'm Soljyr," he answered, crouching down a second as he ripped off the plastic straw from the box. He applied pressure to the top of the plastic casing and the straw poked right through with its slanted edge. He popped the straw through and offered it to Sita. "Here, Sita, I got you a grape one this time."

Sita had been so excited she'd forgotten about the cinnamon twist for a moment. It was still extended out to her. Sh leaned forward and took a chomp at it, pulling back to savor the unique, sweet flavor. "Mm, da's weally tasty! And da's a lot of stuff! Tigews and lions and clowns!" She noticed Soljyr offering her the juice box and she reached out and grabbed it with a grin. "Thanks, Daddy!"

Soljyr was a bit nervous. Sword swallowers? Fire breathers? People that drive around in metal balls on motorcycles? This didn't sound like a very safe event... There had to be some catch. Nobody else seemed to be bothered by it, though... He started to notice the crowd dwindling as they filed into the air filled dome. "We should probably get moving, it looks like the show is about to start," he suggested, gesturing toward the low-arched tunnel where sound was beginning to emanate.

“Well, greetings Soljyr,” Vilyum replied. It was unusual name, but Vilyum had no room to talk in that regard.

“See! It was delicious!” Áróra exclaimed with a giggle. “Yep a whole bunch of stuff! At least that’s what’s in some circuses. I don’t really know what all they will have at this one, but they could have all of it!” She really hoped that they would have most of those things or, even better, all of them.

Checking his watch, he stated, “Well, there is still plenty of time, but I don’t see any problem with going now. We shouldn’t have to worry about the seating though. I know a guy in the circus. He owes me a favor or two. Got 5 seats right up front reserved. Was going to take my other daughters as well, but they didn’t feel like going.” With a shrug, he added, “Well, let’s go.” Then he started making his way towards the front entrance.

“Yay!” Áróra squealed out, “It’s time to go in! Let’s go Sita! You can sit next to me! Want to try anything else?”

Sita nodded enthusiastically with a toothy grin. "Mhm, it is! Let's go!" She slithered along side Arora, sipping at the straw of her juice box. She'd never tried grape juice before, but she thought it may have been the sweetest drink she'd ever had.

"Ah, that's unfortunate for your daughters. I heard that the circus is quite a spectacle. But I suppose that's rather fortunate for us. Thank you, Vilyum," he stated, walking alongside the man as the little girls were the frontrunners; nothing was going to slow them down. "Say... This place isn't dangerous at all, is it? I feel like it's reasonable for me to ask with there being lions, tigers, sword swallowers and the like..." Perhaps it was silly of him to ask, but with Sita around, he felt like it was almost necessary. They were passing through the tunnel now, and the sound seemed to ricochet from all around them. Now they were passing through to the dome; he could see the arena floor already.

“Yeah, it is unfortunate, but if they don’t want to go, I’m not going to force them,” he stated with a shrug. “I am sure there will be other things that they can go to, things that they will be interested in. But, yes, it is fortunate for you two, and for Áróra; it looks like she had made a new friend.” He then slid his right hand into the inner left pocket of his coat and pulled out, well something that was completely wrapped in paper. Slowly unwrapping it, he revealed it to be a hot dog with what looked like onions, mustard, neon green relish, tomato wedges, and peppers. He took a large bite out of it, and then rewrapped it and slid it back into his pocket as he chewed. After swallowing, he continued, “Well, everything is dangerous. It just really depends on your definition of danger. To a certain degree, even a padded room is dangerous, just not as dangerous as climbing up the exterior of a skyscraper. For the most part, being a spectator at a circus is on the not so dangerous side of the spectrum of danger. A little more so for some of the performers, but still, it’s no trip to space.”

“Daddy, are those our seats?”
Áróra exclaimed, as she pointed to five seats, in the front row, just in the center, that had been blocked off with caution tape.

“Yep, those would be them.”

Turning to Sita, Áróra exclaimed “There are the seats! Let’s go sit down! I bet it is going to be great! So you know Seth?” The last part was added, because she couldn’t help but overhear Vilyum and Soljyr earlier.

Soljyr nodded in agreement, slowly at first. "That's true, I guess," he answered. Escaping an ambush? Very dangerous. Circus? Not so much for him. "I'm sure they're professional enough to handle the danger, though. Sita and Arora will enjoy themselves tremendously, I'd imagine. Plenty of tails, planty of lions," he chuckled. It was a good thing Sita couldn't jump as much, or she'd be hopping over the chairs with Arora. It was odd; the sloth genetics didn't seem to have effected her energy levels. It was probably her age level; she did take frequent naps, though. Maybe that her trick.

Sita laughed as she slithered after her new friend, and once they'd reached their seats, she used the muscles in her lower body to haul herself up and onto the chair. "Seth? I know Seth! Seth is.. na-ga.. like me! I saw him at the beach!" she explained, nodding.

“Well, they have been touring for a while; I’m sure any that are still with them and more then skilled. It’s the more amateur shows that you have to worry about seeing something go wrong.” It was probably a morbid topic, but it ultimately was a deciding factor in his choice. There was always a slim chance of something going wrong, but he was going to be sure that chance was as slim as possible, when picking a show to take his girls to. Laughing, he replied, “Yep, she certainly likes tails; her genetics don’t have any signs of them, but honestly, if she suddenly sprouted one, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised, even if it would purely be the result of wishful thinking.”

“Yep! You are both nagas!”
she exclaimed with a giggle, “I went to his house, not that long ago, His older sister taught me a word. I shouldn’t tell you it; it was a bad word. I also met his pet snakes! Hopefully, he will come over to my house sometime! Would you like to come over sometime? I could show you my mechano cat! I helped make her! Someone else though, his name is Vladimir, he brought her to life with magic! He said he would teach me that magic! It’s…um…. Technomancy! . I’m hungry… Corn dog time!” At that she took a bit bite of her corn dog and began chewing.

Soljyr was making his way to his own seat, but he kept his conversation with Vilyum relatively active. He laughed at the mention of Arora growing a tail. "She'd be quite pleased with that notion," he agreed, glancing over at Sita. "I wonder what unexpected surprises await down the road for Sita. She has to take her first lessons soon. And I also have to wonder if I'm going to have to worry about her zipping about in the air with those wings. Right now they're small enough that she won't try anything, but in time.. " He shrugged slightly. The wings were in a difficult position for her to fly at the moment, and he need not worry about the future right now. It was just time for them to enjoy some performers that hopefully didn't injure themselves.

Sita giggled. "I wanna come over sometime!" she yelled, wriggling in her seat. "You has a mekan-icle cat? Cool! I has a fishie! I cawt him at the beach. His name is Fishie! He watches me colow! And.. and.. there's a wobot in my book, too! Does yo'w cat make beeping noises? Ow has wed eyes?" She was suddenly very intrigued by the idea of a mechanical cat. She was pumping with excitement; that usually meant a nap was right around the corner.
