Cody groaned as he moved the crib to another corner using a carefully calculated wind burst while he himself busily painted a second coat onto a wall. Wings fluttering softly so he could reach the top part without getting a ladder, he shifted the paint bucket a bit while pondering setting it down somewhere. But where was the problem, unfortunately. The floor of the room was covered in plastic to protect the carpet and a chair, crib, and varying larger objects cluttered most of the available floor space. The best spot he could probably get away from was the window sill.

Unfortunately, Edes might whine about that too. "That better, dear?" he asked, meaning the crib he'd just moved half a foot to another area of the room. He had been at it all day, moving furniture around while painting the walls and occasionally getting his husband food or random acts of affection. In all, his almost limitless patience was wearing thin and his energy was dwindling. Any more of this and he would pass out from exertion alone.

"I'll move it closer when the paint dries. I just wanted to know if it was that area you wanted it in," Cody replied as calmly as possible, finishing up the section he was working on at last. Three of the four walls were painted at last with the green color they had picked out the other day. At first it had gone smoothly, and then quickly accelerated downhill. Landing heavily on the floor, stumbling a little as he readjusted to standing, he turned to look at Edes with a sigh.

"I'm not because you told me to paint this room. I can't do everything, Edes. I'm sorry," he explained, setting the paint brush down on top of the paint can. Groaning, he stretched and cracked his back before moving over to his husband. "If Azrael wasn't in school, Mom at work and Ary unreachable, I'd have more help but I don't. I can't do everything you need, love." Wrapping his arms lovingly around the boy, he gave him a gentle squeeze before looking at the final wall to be painted. It was going to be a long day...

Cody said nothing about the look, or made any outward reaction to it that he had even noticed it. "It's alright, I understa-Lunch? You-alright, I'll call out for it and you can get settled. The room should be mostly dry by then anyways," he commented, biting back several remarks as he helped Edes out to the living room. With his patience wearing thin and his meds still on the wonky side when put to the test, he was finding keeping himself in control to be difficult beyond belief. Sure whatever medicine he had been given helped a lot, but sometimes it wasn't quite enough and there were a couple of occasions he nearly lost control.

Which would have been bad given the circumstances. "You sit, I'll call out. Got an idea on what you want?" Cody asked, wondering if he might just pass out with Edes. Then he'd have to go through all that again and the room STILL wouldn't be painted, much less decorated. If only he had help getting things set up, then he could relax a little.

Cody managed to put in the order and mentally write down the amount before Edes spoke. He just barely heard him, but it was just enough to know the boy was upset. With a sigh, he set the phone down and sat down next to him. "Edes, you're fine. Really, you're not doing anything I shouldn't have expected before. I'm just... not used to taking care of someone who's so dependent on me. Remember, I mostly watched out for myself for the longest time," he murmured, leaning close to lovingly kiss him on the cheek.

At his suggestion, Cody bit his lip lightly in thought. "How about I finish painting the room later and stop until tomorrow? The paint should really be done soon so we can work on getting stuff in there tomorrow when it's dry," he replied, moving to a much more comfortable position than the awkward one he had been pulled into. "Come on, let's rest a bit until the food shows up. Wanna watch a movie?"

Cody nodded. "I know I do, which is something I'm trying my best to get used to. It's so weird having someone actually need me so much more than for a simple task here and there," he replied softly, kissing Edes on the cheek. "And once the baby arrives, I know you'll be the best wife in the world." He didn't bother saying he had no idea what he wanted Edes to be like as his wife. In fact, he wasn't sure if he really hoped for anything in their relationship other than having his husband all to himself and never sharing him with another person in any sort of love-related things.

"Any movie? Hm..." Cody barely had enough time to ponder what movie he'd want to watch when his hand was suddenly being crushed under the others' grip. He said nothing nor made any face to show the pain he felt, instead waiting for the grip to relax and free up his hand so the blood could rush back to his numbing fingers. "It's... No problem Edes. I've told you more than once that I'd do anything for you. I love you and nothing could change that," he muttered, keeping his voice free of pain and even managing a small smile towards the boy. Damn Edes had a strong grip...

"Yes, I do." There was little he could be more sure of than what he had just said. As Edes released his hand, he made sure to move it out of the boy's line of sight before flexing it in hopes of returning the feeling in it.

"I love you too Edes. And it did?" he gasped, instantly taking his good hand that Edes DIDN'T crush and lightly placing it on his larger stomach. It didn't take long for the baby within to kick again, his blue-green eyes widening in surprise and excitement and awe at the feeling. There really was a little child growing in there, a life they had created.
