Something using a dichotymy of thorny vines, chains and feathers would have a pleasantly painful eloquence. The juxtaposition of symbolism could represent the dual relationship of heaven and hell, with the mortal world caught betwixt them.

Maybe if you draw something using thorny vines to represent the pain oflife, and use feathers as a metaphor for heaven, then include chains to symbolize hell, the combination would look nice. Having elements of both heaven and hell would create a nice contrast, and could be related to by any number of people.
