Thursday afternoon. It was the last day of lull before the usual weekend rush. It was also the roughest and most dull of them all. After four days of slowed traffic with the excitement of friday so close he could taste it Corey was literally going crazy. His fingers fidgeted through change, counting out the cash in the concessions register for about the third time in the past two hours.
Blahhh... why wasn't it Friday yet!? He was soooo bored. Resting his head on his arms in a feat of very bad posture, he idlely started at the darkened screen that would soon enough be showing shots from inside the laser tag arena along with scores and game times.

xxxxxTalia strolled into her favorite little nook-and-cranny arcade store, Electric Dreamz. It was a quiet sort of place, and it was Thursday afternoon so not many people were around. Most just came to the arcade on the weekend, never weekdays.
xxxxxTalia, however, liked it without noise. Noise meant CHILDREN. No thanks. Little slimy hands all over the controls, parents whining at her that little Suzy wants a turn on Mortal Kombat, it was all too much for Talia. Especially their sticky hands. Ughhhh.
xxxxxAs she walked in, Talia noticed Corey lazing about on the counter, seemingly bored. The arcade was oddly quiet anyways. Sure, there was still the quiet hum of machines in the background, various machines making their various racing noises and beeping noises, but overall it was really quiet for an arcade. Maybe business was going bad?
xxxxxFeeling one of those random bouts of mischievousness, Talia snuck up to the counter, ducking as she did so, and waited for a perfect moment. When Corey's attention was captured by the laser tag board, Talia popped up and said, with her best monster voice, "BOO!"

Lost in his thoughts and boredom Talia had slipped into the shop (he really needed a ringly bell for the door!) and up to the counter without detection. And when she popped up so did Corey jolt straight up in his seat, hands slapping the counter.
"You!" He said when his eyes settled on who had startled him, giving her a pretend 'Grrrrrr' face. One that, try as he might, lacked any real intimidation at all like a fluffy puppy.
The grrr cracked into a grin after a few seconds, thrilled for company. "Taaaaalia" heart
"What's shaking?"

xxxxxTalia giggled hilariously at Corey's reaction. There was a moment of sincere startled confusion, which quickly transmuted into a sort of cute look of indignation. With a gasp, she said, "Oh my! The big bad Corey is SO scary!" She giggled and laid the minimum $2.50 on the counter for tokens.
xxxxx"Hi Corey!" she said with her big, bright signature smile. Glancing around the arcade she noticed there were only a few awkward couples and stragglers in the arcade. "Business is slow now huh?" Corey was in a suprisingly good mood for such an empty arcade.
xxxxxPulling a piece of gum out of her pocket, she threw it in her mouth and said, "Mmmm... not much I guess. I'm kind of avoiding a stupid etiquette class my dad wants me to take right now." Realizing a potential blunder, she said, "Oh, but don't tell okay!" God it would be terrible if her father found out. Awkward conversations ahoy.
xxxxxNot wanting to stay on the topic long, she quickly changed subject by saying, "So are you excited for your birthday? Its ... what a week or two from now?" She knew it was this month, but had no clue what day it was. Talia made a mark in her mental calendar to get him a present. Sometime.
((assuming this RP is before corey's birthday bash))

His face contorted momentarily at her giggle, giving her a good old fashion and very childish bit of tongue sticking out before he began to dig through tokens for her, exchanging the real money for the trinkets of the arcade.
"Thursdays are always the worst until summer rolls around. The weekend will be here soon enough and then summer after that." He chirped optimistically to her words, really it was just a chorus of what he'd been trying to remind himself all day.
Shifting back on his chair he regarded her little secret with a grin and tease of his own. "Are you sure you should be skipping those? I'm pretty sure your manners could use a little work.." But she knew him long enough to know better, and just in case she didn't his hand lifted in contridiction to his tease, zipping his lips and then turning the lock. It was their little secret, he'd never snitch someone out. Especially not a good friend and customer like her.
"Totally!" He chirped on the topic of his birthday, leaning forward once more like he was about to share a secret of his own. "I've got huge plans for it this year actually! A bit party of sorts here actually. You'll drop by right?"

In response to Corey's tongue, she threw her own tongue in the air right back at him. If her father saw her right now, Talia would be in a world of trouble. Castigated for such "childish, unladylike behavior." The arcade was a nice little safe haven from the world, since no one she knew was really all that into video games at the moment.
With a pitying look on her face, she brought her tongue back into her mouth and said, "Bawww, well I'm sorry. I'll be sure to visit you every Thursday Corey! Every. Single. One" She laughed in spite of her serious tone, wiggling her arms in a "scary" way.
Talia faked shock now, pretending to be absolutely appalled by his faux insult. "MY manners need work Corey?!" She stuck out her tongue again and slapped the tokens off his counter. "Maybe I should just go play some games all by myself Mr. Rudey McRudeRude." Talia, queen of insults. She laughed a nice, ringing laugh that was true, unlike the laugh she faked so many times with family. It was all just fun and games with Corey.
Talia smiled again, and tilted her head lightly at his invitation. Most parties were held in her own name, but to be invited to one was a nice change of pace. It was nice to not have to wear some stuffy dress too, like her mother and father always wanted her to. "Wouldn't miss it for the world my dear Corey!" she exclaimed as she turned around to go play a game. Once she reached the game she wanted to play, DDR, she hopped up on the dance pad and chided, "Hey old man, you gonna get up here and play with me, or what?"
Looking down at her shoes, she realized she was a tad unprepared, wearing heeled boots and all, but she didn't really mind. She could still kick his butt. No problem.

"My heroooo" He cupped his hands for a moment in true 'damsel rescued by prince' fashion as she made her promise. But it was pretty obvious he appreciated the sentiment by the look on his face when he was done with his little tease. His business had been thankfully fairly steady after the rough first year or two, and very rarely did he worry that much about the arcades future. But on the few times it did creep into his brain, it was definately on slow thursdays.
An innocent look met her response, one that was hard to keep straight as she went along with her SUPER creative 'Rudey McRudeRude'. But she didn't even have to finish her sentence before he was up and out of the stool, making his way over to the DDR machine.
He stretched his arms above him, playing into her teasing on his age. Because seriously 25.. almost 26!? He was a baby still. Nowhere near old. "Just don't cry when the old man wipes the floor with you Taliaaaaa"
She would probably win. Despite having the game for as long as he did it wasn't one he tended to play himself. So while he was decent at it, even a little above average, he was no DDR master. But smack talk was fun. And he could always goude her into a game of Mortal Kombat or something afterwards. Best two out of three.

"Damn straight I'm your hero!" she exclaimed, followed by a giggle. Jesus Christ, if her father ever heard her talking like that, there would be hell to pay! Somewhere in the back of her mind though, Talia wondered if he was having money problems. An arcade business wasn't that profitable, was it? Talia quickly pushed that thought out of her head though; it wasn't her place to be concerned with another's economical welfare.
"I swore you were at least 40 by now! That's ancient old man," she jeered. Why did they have so much fun beating each other up? "Wipe the floor? The only floor you'll wipe is this dirty arcade floor!" She stepped up onto the dance pad and inserted the required 4 tokens. Games were getting so expensive nowadays!
"Alright Oldy McRude" (GENIUS INSULTS TALIA), "Let's do this yeah?" She picked the song butterfly and then began tapping her feet rhythmically on the dance pad. Butterfly was a classic song; if you ever played the game DDR, you probably played Butterfly at least once.
"Smack talking was always the best part of a game. Feelin' the burn yet Corey?" She didn't even bother glancing over at his screen though. Maybe out of arrogance, but most likely out of insecurity. DDR wasn't exactly her forte.((higher score wins!))

Other men might have had their egos bruised by the banter. Especially from a teenage girl. But Corey was no regular man. He was more a man boy really.. and teasing and playing with girls was right up his alley.
He did however take a moment to lament at the age she'd dictated, even though he knew quite well she was kidding. "Twenty fiveeeeee. Not fourty you cruel harpy" He shook his fist in true old man fashion before pulling himself up onto the DDR machine, positioning his feet. He tapped the buttons to match the difficulty level she had chosen, not wanting to lose automatically by wussing out.
"Your Crystal Academy is showing Talia. Girls can't help but pick that song" He leered playfully at her song selection. It was surely a classic, and he didn't mind the sugary pop song, but it was nonetheless a fact. Girls were attracted to the song like flies on s**t.
"Burning the floor with perfects, sugar." He bluffed, his eyes were glued to his own screen as well trying to keep up with the flying arrows. It wasn't so bad yet, the song was a moderate one and he was pumped with energy and drive.
At this rate though.. who knew how he'd be feeling by the third and final song.
((Confirm winner in your next post and he'll chose the next song in mine ;D))

"You take that back! Crystal Academy has nothing to do with this!" she squealed playfully. It was no secret that Talia was fierce when it came to school spirit. Any opportunity she had to talk about how great CA was, she would use to the point of abuse. In fact, right now she was wearing her crystal academy sports ribbon, the one given out at pep assemblies to pump the girls up. Of course, Talia couldn't argue with how girls were attracted to the song. It really was a girl's song.
As Talia danced, her black curls bounced through the air excitedly. She debated putting her hair up after the game, but now wasn't the time for that. Returning his insult, Talia said, "Really? 'Cause all I see is goods, old man." Oh DDR. It brought out the worst in people. Still, regardless of her banter, Talia wanted to win. She was a Chu; it was what they did. Win.
She panted a little as the imaginary crowd finished their cheering and the arrows disappeared. The screen displayed satisfactory results, and Talia nodded. "Oh yes, SO perfect Corey! A perfect loss!" She gave a little miniature fist pump. True, she had only won by a few points, but she had won nonetheless.
"Since your defeat was dreadfully embarrassing, you can choose the next song!" She gestured toward the screen as if to say "here, have it."

"Aghhhhhhhh!" A wail of despair escaped him as the scoreboard spit out the scores, only proving her slew of smack talking as truth. It was however followed with a half laugh. It was dissapointing yes! But he wasn't so incredibly competitive that he couldn't take a loss. Nah.. for him it often was truly about having fun.. and even if winning was MORE fun a loss wasn't the end of the world.
Nonetheless.. there was a devious look on his face she his fingers quickly searched for his intended song. Decent complexity, heavy streaming movements that didn't stop throughout the entire song. It was the sort of song you usually choose for your third song, one you didn't try to tire yourself out with early on. It was a gamble, but maybe he could hold out a little longer than her. She might be younger, but if he had more stamina...
"Let's see how well that works for you. This one is one of my favorites" It was also incredibly catchy. The song didn't give you a moment to catch up, arrows beginning to fly as soon as the first notes of Captian Jack started.

Talia beamed as Corey accepted his defeat. There was no doubt about it- she loved winning! She took a moment to catch her breath, while Corey picked the song. Captain Jack? Auuugh. She loved this song, but so many little kids played it in the arcade thinking they were cool because they were playing a hard song. The fact that the DDR machine was so close to the fighter games didn't exactly help.
"Really? That song? Whatever, I'll still kick your butt!" Truthfully, she wasn't super confident. Talia wasn't good at this song, and she knew it.
As the arrows flew across the screen, she became even less confident. She even missed a few! Hopefully Corey was going worse than her?
Talia took a quick moment to flash her head over at Corey's screen. He actually wasn't doing too bad. What was he, a DDR master? Talia grumpily settled her head back on her own screen. Hopefully Corey hadn't noticed her looking- he would never let her live it down.

He was trying his best, and in the beginning it was going good, REAL good. His feet were smashing the foot plates in almost perfect timing, his bonus bar growing amid a slew of electronic compliments.
He had the rhythm pretty well, huffing and puffing against the fast pattern and then it all went to hell.
His foot landed only partly on the step, not registering the motion.. and as he looked down in frusteration to fix his feet he missed a few more. Much of the rest of the game was spent trying to recover and find his place again.
Needless to say he wasn't particularly surprised when the scores added up and hers was higher then his. It didn't mean he was any less dissapointed about it though.
"Agggghhhhhhh" He lamented, throwing his hands up in the arm. She'd already won by the game's standard having already won 2 out of the 3, but he wasn't a poor sport. He wasn't just going to storm away. Maybe atleast he could regain a little respect by winning the final game and not totally being blown out of the water.
"Choose the song Talia" He grimaced, just waiting for the slew of taunts sure to come flying.

Talia gave a laugh and said, "You know there's only one more game in this set right?" There was absolutely no way he could catch up. Then again, this was no surprise. Of course she was winning. What else would she be doing- losing? Oh no no no, that was not the Chu way. Losing would never do. You couldn't be the best if you were losing!
The song came to an end with her victory, once again. That mean she had officially won the match. At least Corey wasn't running away like a little sissy. If there was one thing Talia hated more than losing, it was quitting.
Still, he asked for it, right? Talia scrolled through the songs. Nothing sounded really fun- after all, when you've played songs millions of times, they get old after awhile.
Talia did notice that Corey was a bit out of breath though. Was he okay? Well he probably was, considering Talia was panting slightly too. Still, it was always polite to ask. "Well, if you wanna stop we ca-"
She was cut off by him demanding that she pick the next song. Good ol' Corey. With a laugh she said, "Just remember you asked for it hotshot!" Scrolling through the songs she looked for one that actually seemed ... well remotely interesting. Her ears settled on Sundrop Kiss. Funny, that song wasn't on most American versions. Corey must've lucked out.
She hit the start button and the notes began flying. "Just remember that I offered," she took a breath then continued, "You a chance to stop old man!" She laughed evilly and then continued stomping out the arrows that came by- which was actually starting to hurt her feet considering the heels were a tad tall. Whatever, she would perservere for a flawless victory.
