I live in this hotel for my study. Since I can't drive each day back and forth from home to work and back. So this means I sleep in this hotel, I live here, eat here, work here. It's terrible.
But I'm not here to rant.
My friend who's not with me here in the hotel anymore had already mentioned before that she didn't felt save here in the hotel in her own room. Because she had the feeling she was not alone. We both have been feeling the strange smell of aftershave, a spicy/herbal'ish smell. Which couldn't be from any of us.
And I sometimes have the feeling I'm not alone either. But there haven't been happening any strange things, Like stuff falling over or anything. Or I have noticed because I didn't found it important at that time.
We do have ventilation in the ceiling, so we thought it could be that. But since the one in her room wasn't even working we found it kind of.. weird.
Now she is gone and I am all alone I tried to figure out some history about this hotel. I haven't found anything interesting lately. I do know the hotel has a big history.
Used to be a church with nuns, then it was a seminar, after that a Rehabilitation center for old people. After that it was all business stuff.
Maybe I am just driving myself crazy, I don't know.
What do you guys think? I'd like to know your opinion.

Anything with a history like that has potential. I can't say for sure if it is actually haunted or not because I don't know anything about it. Smells though, are usually not paranormal because they can easily be soaked into the walls and depending on how warm it is in the room, they can produce a smell. The smells can also go through vents quite easily. As for the paranoid feeling, it could be paranormal, just paranoia from being some place by yourself or it could be caused by a high electromagnetic field. Meaning too many lights and such on in a room with possibly poor wiring.
Would you be willing to pm me the name or some more history of the hotel? I would be curious to see what I could find out about it.

I can't say one way or another what is causing this, but I can give mundane explinations for everything you described and you can investigate it further. Dianda Panda My friend who's not with me here in the hotel anymore had already mentioned before that she didn't felt save here in the hotel in her own room. Because she had the feeling she was not alone. The sense of not being alone can come from a couple different things- it might be that you're having that feeling because humans just feel that way sometime- in ancient Greece, this was attributed to Pan at night in the wild places and that's where the concept of "Panic" comes from. It may be that you're getting that impression because your senses are warning you about monitoring devices- something as simple as a smoke alarm is a monitoring device and can cause that feeling in some people. Being "away from home" can also cause those kinds of feelings- and you could have been feeding each other subconsciously. Quote: We both have been feeling the strange smell of aftershave, a spicy/herbal'ish smell. Which couldn't be from any of us. Since you're in a hotel, it could be a couple things- the ventilation system like you said, or even the products the hotel uses. Quote: What do you guys think? I'd like to know your opinion. I think it's always best to look for mundane reasons first- and since nothing scary has happened, or anything unexplainable- I wouldn't fret about it.

Well, I can't think of anything unexplainable. Underworld Priestess Hm, Yea. I do get paranoid easily. And sure. (:

What do you mean exactly with 'recreate the experiences'?

Dianda Panda What do you mean exactly with 'recreate the experiences'? Well- like for the smell, I'd wander around trying to find the source of the smell and maybe get some of the common things in the hotel that might be responsible for the smell, or record when things happen and see what else is going on to see if there's a correlation- then I'd try and duplicate it.

Oh, Like that! That's not such a bad idea. I asked around the hotel and they blamed it on the ventilation.

I'm afraid I can't really reach it(with a chair), but I will try. It's a good idea, tho. I bet it'll look funny. "What're you doing up there?" "Oh nothing, just sniffing the vent". Anyway, thanks for the advice. 4laugh

No, no. Tell them you saw something shiny and are looking for treasure. Or something haha.
Another thing you could try, is find out what the herbal'ish smell is. Can you describe it? Have you smelled something like it before? For example, if you've smelled day or so old mustard, it has a distinct smell. I have a bad memory, so when I smell it, I can't immediately recall what it is. Your smell might be a cooking herb like basil or rosemary, or something else. It could even be aloe.
^^ It sounds exciting, if a little creepy.

It's a typical men's sense, spicy but fresh like someone just got out of the shower. And wood'ish. I can't remember what herbs could be in it. But if I had to name a brand of perfume it is similar to I'd say Diesel, or something along those lines. We had a few months back that downstairs at the reception they got an alarm from upstairs that came from either her room or the room next to it. The fire alarm went off. She doesn't smoke, and the other room was empty. Could be just an error in the system. Last time I smelled it before was when I thought about my grandpa (who has passed away) and my mp3-player got stuck on an emotional song with the really fitting name "The sound of missing you".

I'm not sure what Diesel smells like, but my dad wears Old Spice and that's stuck in my head >.< lol. I'm not sure about a mundane explanation for the fire alarm, but maybe somebody has smoked in one or both of those rooms in the past. Your mp3 player? Again, I'm horrible at mundane explanations. I like hearing about experiences that suggest that someone who has passed away still thinks about people that are still here. ^^ <3
