Rishima looked around with a hint of uncertainty. Normally she was a female that prefered to stick to tried and true, because it was known and therefore safe. This extended to the lands that she wandered or called home. Every once in awhile though she was stricken with what oldsters called "wanderlust", and felt the urge to move on to new places.

'I wish that stupid lust had kept it's opinions to itself,' she thought crossly as she tried to get her bearings. Not only was she lost, she was spectaularly lost. There had been one heck of a summer storm last night, and in dashing about in the dark looking for some shelter she'd managed to get off track and the rain washed away her trail.

Rishima sighed. She didn't know why she was panicking. She was perfectly capable of looking out for herself and surviving. Really, she had to get over this silly compulsion that only the known was desirable and safe. So she was in the unknown, big deal. All she had to do was get to know the place, and problem solved!

Right?

User ImageThales just finished with a visit at the forest with one of his mothers, when the storm hit. It caught him at the edge of the boundaries, but couldn't diminish the joy of seeing Mira again. She had a temper on her, but she was still his mom and he loved her.

The new morning dawned pretty good for him. His fur wasn't to ruffled from the rain and the birds were singing, that is all it took sometimes for him to be happy. A squirrel dashed in front of him, mouth stuffed with a pine cone, and the male decided breakfast was calling. He let the smaller animal get a few more feet ahead of him, before dashing after.

Rishima squeaked as this squirrel came flying out of nowhere! Cheeky little creature, it actually leapt at Rishima and used her as a springboard to get into a tree!

"Hey, show a little respect," she called up angrily at the tree branches. Why, she had half a mind to just sit here all night and wait for that squirrel. It would serve him right if she used him as a springboard, see how he liked that!

In the back of her mind Rishi knew she wouldn't be quite overreacting so much if the suddenly suprised hadn't been....well, a suprised. Scared the life out of her, more like!

He barely skidded to a stop when the voiced yelled out about respect. His nose was just barely above the dirt from his front legs being the ones to stop him from hitting the fox that was yelling. "Umm.. Sorry about that."

Thales stomach rumbled and he looked up at the branch where the squirrel was sitting eating the pinecone. Sighing he looked at the vixen in front of him

Rishima transfered her disgrunted glare from the squirrel to the new male in front of her without missing a beat. "And you, chasing squirrels around and having them use others as launching pads! You caused that thing to scare the living daylights out of me! Now I'm probably never going to calm down and my heart is going to just beat clean through my chest and it'll all be your fault, so there!"

Distantly she knew that she was probably babbling and being rude all at the same time, but that little spike of adrenaline was still going through her blood. Rishima + adrenaline =/= manners, simple as that. She'd probably feel horrible later and apologize, but for now she kept up her glare.

Thales took it in stride, waiting for the vixen to stop and was thankful that she ended faster than all the other females he knew. "Well, if I had known you were there I wouldn't have chased. But alas, I didn't know that squirrel was going to run this way. My food normally doesn't get away so fast." He continued to watch her before finishing. "And besides I said sorry."

He dug at the dirt, getting his white fur muddy as he attempted to make a ball with it.

Rishima sniffed. "Who chases a squirrel pell-mell through the forest? They're annoying, fast, climb even faster, and they barely count as a snack," she said, still a bit miffed.

She eyed the mud at the male's feet as he played with it, a bit distrustful. This guy was willing to chase squirrels around like a madman, maybe he threw mudballs as well.

Achieving the mudball, Thales looked closer at the vixen. "Well I chase them. Besides all the reasons you said, they are fun to chase." Balancing the ball on the top of his paw, he started to tap it in the air, not very high so he wouldn't hit either one of them in face.

Rishima couldn't rightly come up with a reply to that. She herself was know to chase birds on occasion, for no more reason than they looked so silly bobbing around on the ground like that it filled her with the playful urge to torment them a bit. Well, not torment. She'd never hurt them. Annoy, perhaps?

She continued to eye the mudball as it went on its journey, pouncing from paw to air and back again. "How is that thing not disintegrating after the first three bounces," she asked, interested in spite of herself.

Thales watched the mudball and thought about what to say. "It might be because of magic or the little bits of grass in there holding it close." When it landed in his paw, the fox decided not to toss it again and looked at it a bit closer.

"So what are you doing out here?" He smiled, still holding the mudball, but not looking at her.

Rishima shrugged, swishing her tail behind her. "Do I have to have a reason for being here in particular? This is just where I'm at right now."

She blushed a tad, glancing away. Deities, that must sound like a dumb answer. Like she either still being a grumpy b***h or like she didn't have a clue. Or both, cause it could always be both.

"Guess I'm just passing through. I just travel a lot at the moment."

He was taken back at first by her response, but what more could he expect. "Well it looks like bits of grass are holding it together." His tone slightly amused. Thales rolled the ball onto his nose and tossed it over his shoulder, kicking when it got to his back paw.

"Are you traveling to any place in particular?"

Rishima shrugged again. Her shoulders were getting one heck of a workout today.

"I suppose I am, since I keep on traveling. I don't know where I'm heading though. Guess I'll know the place when I see it, cause my subconscious refuses to share the knowledge of just what I'm looking for with me.

You're gonna get pretty dirty bouncing that thing off that white coat of yours," she randomly observed, watching the mudball bounce around.

Laughing, "Well that is a good a plan as I ever heard. And I heard a lot while in the city with my mother." Thales looked at what used to be his mostly white coat and smirked. "Ah, nothing a little water wont fix. Though, must be hard to tell on your coat, at times." He peered a little closer at her coat. She looked like a rainbow at night, just without the bend he normally saw.

"Yea. When I get in the sun the light reflects off all the different colors, so people like to make all kinds of rainbow or glowing cracks. My sister's got the exact same pattern. You could almost say we're twins, but since she's a Phim it's pretty easy to tell us apart."

Rishima looked at the male's coat and narrowed her eyes as she stared closely at it. "Bet when you're all clean and white that if the sun ever hit ya you'd have blind someone. That's a lot of white."

For some reason Rishima's paws itched to dump the male in a river and give him a good scrubbing. Something about pure white fur when it was clean was just so....beautiful. Though the male probably wouldn't take too well to an impromptu bath from a stranger...
