WE ARE HIRING FOR TiH MINIS! Come help, kupo!
Requirements:
- A WORKING knowledge on TiH Minipets, or at least how the site operates. We're not asking for much here, just knowledge on how to navigate the minipets site
- You do not need to be an active rper in TiH to apply, but you WILL be able to win student AND minipet rewards for your work, please see payment below
- YOU MUST HAVE AN AIM ACCOUNT. The minipets moderators need to be able to contact you!
- For the purpose of handing out prizes, please have a minipets account as well
- You must be able to commit yourself to this project for more than a month. For the shop's safety, we will not distribute prizes for new minipets staff until we have deemed you worthy of fulfilling your role. That means you will be put on temporary probation for the first month. If you continue your efforts after the first month, we will unlock prizes accessible to you.
- It is an additional bonus if you are active in the thread or minipets site already, but not necessary.
- If you have working PHP or SQL knowledge, we are also looking to hire a more technical coding moderator that deals with minipets glitches, please let us know below! THIS IS A BONUS NOT A REQUIREMENT
Additional roles:
- Help with the minipet encyclopedia, work on helping keeping it updated. Communication is key!
- General bug hunting
- Think up Underground/Black market codes and puzzles
- Beta test occasional new site features
- Write prompts and be willing to RP manage
- Working with artists and admin and plan games and events along side them
- Run and host games (daily if possible, once a week at best)
- GM as needed for TiH events and school related activities, you can create a "Trick or Treater" NPC mule for this!
- Work with a LOT of people, (10+), keep people informed
- Answer questions about the minisite, help those who might not be aware of how the system works
- Help where needed
But we don't just ask you to do this for nothing!
- Minipet moderators are also, if you CAN DRAW, allowed to occasionally contribute minipets for the site! Please contact Zoo if you are hired and want to do this with samples of your work, this is just for quality check's sake.
- For helping out in large scale upcoming events, minipet moderators will be generously rewarded afterward for their efforts. We take them as seriously as TiH regular moderators! That means both free student prizes
- On top of free student prizes, we also offer active moderators free custom minipet rewards, as well as a points system rewards to earn any pet created on the site, and a silver bonus. If you would not like to be paid in minipets/students, we can offer instead, 500K per month in Gaia gold for your work.

GM QUICK EXERCISE: First if it consisted of a week it would need to be its own thread in the guild, that way things wont get lost. I would make a pirate based CYOA event where they will have to travel from room to room looking for gold or other such treasures. Just like those old text based games on the apple computers way back in the olden days (Zorg would be a good example of what I would set up) And then depending on what they found or how fast they got out would grant a special prize!
I can also draw minis! uh working on that, need my tablet before I can even go there.
I can also do PHP/SQL Very very little, truly not enough to actually be of help in my current knowledge

I would like to apply for a minipets moderator! My Gaia experience: I have been in breedables since '03 (formerly TarnishedHalo) involved in many shops, though most are no longer in existence. I currently have no staff responsibilities for any shop at all.

GM QUICK EXERCISE: I would make a week-long pirate themed scavenger hunt in the guild. You have a week to find the things I hid... all in the form of a pirate map image! Findings would be PMed to me (or a mule) and results would be posted in the minipet guild events subforum.

GM QUICK EXERCISE: I would set up a thread in the guild/Thread for sign ups. Then post in the guild who would be playing. There will be pictionary, riddles, dice game, and battle ship. Participants would be raffled off for the five pirate pets while the pumpkin seeds would be awarded to the winners of each game that is played. Would try to put a rule that only one person per game could win a seed so everyone else could have a chance.

I would like to apply for a minipets moderator!My Gaia experience: Been on Gaia on and off since 2003 and been apart of the B/C world since about 2004ish or so. I have run a shop or two and helped with more. I still help out in other shops for friends. If I must I can hand out info on those shops. I am generally a friendly person and flexible to work with.

GM QUICK EXERCISE: I would set up a small jeopardy-type mini game hiding 'prizes' behind pirate (and sometimes non pirate) based trivia questions (or rather answer as it is jeopardy) for people to look up. People will be allowed to use google and the first person to guess the answer correctly will be given the prize behind the 'answer'. Seeds will be evenly disburst through out the boardgame with the mini pet hidden behind the trivia that is hardest to answer. Alternately the mini pet will be given to the one person that has answered the most question during the game.
Contestants will be either everyone that is online on the thread at the time or be asked to sign up to become part of the game. The second option might be most fair for some. I'd probably take the week to figure out questions to ask and set up sign ups before the game starts.
I can also draw minis! Newp. Not unless you want disfigured stick figures drawn on MS paint.
I can also do PHP/SQL I have had only minor experience with these. I am willing to learn if someone is willing to teach and/or give me a refresher.
I can also juggle upside down while jumping! I totally can, especially if you give me something sexy to wear.

I would like to apply for a minipets moderator! My Gaia experience: I own Legend of Lunaria, and I am a moderator/manager in Lilium Hallow, Star*Chasers, and Full Moon (all three of which are smaller scale shops that don't necessarily require a lot of time).

GM QUICK EXERCISE: TIME FOR YE OLDE TREASURE HUNT. During the course of a week, participants have a chance to find the buried treasure! They'll put together a treasure map of their own. Then they'll post pictures or a description of themselves as they get to every stage of the map. I.e. the first stop on the map is a waterfall - participants will either doodle / write / draw / photomanip / whatever / a picture or description of them or their character getting past the waterfall. They'll do this with each stage of the map until they or their characters find the buried treasure~ Results will be based on creativity, originality, general derpiness, and amusement. The 5 pirate pets will go to the 5 most creative, original entries, whereas the 10 silver seeds will be raffled off among all entrants~

I am most available during: CST - available most evenings/nights and virtually all day most weekends. Day hours vary on my current schedule for the quarter but I'm generally available during those times as well.
GM QUICK EXERCISE:
I would host some sort of piratey CYOA where twice a day I'd present a scenario with some possible choices. Players would have until the next posted scenario to put in their choice. Each option would have a sort of point value, but roleplay responses would also have a bonus. For example, at the end of each day one player would be awarded a silver seed for most amusing rp response. There could also be bonus points for good responses as well. By the end of the week, scores would be tallied up and from there, the top 5 players via point total would get the pirate minis. The remaining seeds would be raffled off amongst all the participants. People would be allowed to jump in at any time so there would be no signup, but people who start at the beginning and stick through it would have a better chance at getting one of the pirate mini's.

GM QUICK EXERCISE:
I'm thinking a pirate themed scavanger hunt fashioned after a treasure hunt. Throughout the guild I would hide images of skull/crossbones or gold doubloons, either all at once or one per day, and then post clues within the main thread that the people owuld have to work out to go and find it. They would then PM the answers back to me as to where they found the treasure. I would keep a running tally of how many people get, and the top 5 would get minipet prizes, and the top 5 under them would win 2 pumpkin seeds each.

GM QUICK EXERCISE:
Caption Contest:
Since there are a total of 15 prizes to be won, I would prepare seven pictures (using pirate minis as the cast) and each day one picture would be presented and the people would have one full day to post a caption for that picture. At the end of the day a new picture goes up and I would go ahead and judge the previous day's entries (but keep the results until the end of the week). At the end of the week I would close the contest, judge the final day's entries. Once judged, there would be two winners for each day and one winner overall for the week. With the list of winners I would raffle off who gets the choice pirate minis, and the rest would get the silver pumpkin seed.

GM QUICK EXERCISE: (LOOK, I'm so going to overthink this so have fun reading it)
Being a weeklong game, there'd have to be a thread in the guild for this.
I'd call it "Dead Men Tell No Tales..." it'd be a fun hangman-like game.
The seeds are rolled and given out between those who participated and the minipets are given to the top five point holders.
Secretly it's a two part hangman game with the second part being a surprise at the end of day 1.
Part 1 (of the day) - Since I have to work some days (yeah I have a life but I have to use that degree), at the beginning of the first day I'd post a hangman game (what needs to be guessed would be a quote most likely), to guess letters you'd rando 1-26. One roll per person (maybe a roll per hour depending on how it works the first day after that or a roll every few hours). When I got on later I'd start seeing who got what and putting it in the quote and adding to the hanged-man. This round ends in two ways, either the entire quote was guessed before the hanged-man was completed (doubles don't count and neither do rolls past the completion of the quote) or the hanged-man is completed. In the first case, that person with the final letter gets a point. In the second case, I post what is known of the quote and the first to guess it right gets a point.
Part 2 (of the day) - What's this? This dead man is still alive! A second point will be awarded to the person who defeats the undead man. Time for difficult hangman round. Similar to before, new quote, but now when you roll a letter that letter does not give you all of it in the entire quote (ex. _ e _ _ _ e _ _ e _ _ _ _ _ _ _ e _) . It counts as the first instance and you'll have to roll that letter again to find out if it appears again in the word (ex. _ e _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) ! Super difficult hangman! Since I'd be around during this round I'll be able to update it to allow people to guess at it. First correct guess defeats the undead and get's a point!

I can also do PHP/SQL Actually, I'm teaching myself this when I have time and this would help! Also, I just got my Master's in computer science so I know my way around coding and I'm a super quick learner to languages I don't know.

GM QUICK EXERCISE: Know Your Pirate History -
This game would be a jeopardy type game where there would be different categories related to Pirates - Terminology, history, etc. Each would have X amount of questions ranging in difficulty, and the prizes would be randomly assigned to them.
The "Board" would be posted with bolded category numbers being questions already answered. A request for a certain kind of photo would be made and the first person to post it would be able to choose the category and difficulty (Pirate History - 5!). The "answer" would then be asked and the first person to answer correctly (in the format of a question of course) would win the prize associated with that question.
Limit one prize per person.

I am most available during: I'm EST, before 1:35pm and after 7pm to the middle of the night. I get varied two days (sometimes three) off a week, though, so I am on then all day.
GM QUICK EXERCISE: TREASURE HUNT-- Bring the booty to your captain! A clue would be posted every day for 7 days, leading to an image or a small contest (write me a limerick or a haiku, doodle me your pirate garb, etc etc) which would be collected and tallied each day (24 hr. increments). The 5 minipets would go to the top contenders; the most active and most creative of the entrants, and pumpkin seeds raffled between every entry (each image, each contest entry, would count as 1 ticket).

I would like to apply for a minipets moderator! My Gaia experience: ICRS (owner), Mystic Mixers (guest artist for seven characters), Hiccups (guest artist for one character), Dragonflight (colorist), and many others that have either closed or that I've stepped down from. None of the remaining four eat up an abundance of my attention. In fact, most of my time nowadays is spent doing TiH fanart/commissions in exchange for delicious minipets. Yay!

I am most available during: I am in EST (GMT-5) and I am usually active or lurking from 9:30am to midnight. I take various breaks to eat and engage in other fun computerless activities, and am slightly more scarce on weekends, but the only time I don't sign on at least once a day is when I'm on vacation.
GM QUICK EXERCISE: This dice game is the test tube baby of Uno, War, and Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Each day, players visit a thread in the minipets guild to pit one of their seven cannon cards against that day's pirate in an effort to defeat that pirate's cannon. Players' cards are determined by rolling seven 20-sided dice and matching the numbers rolled with a predetermined list of cards. The pirates' cards are determined in the same way (minus any wild cards), but are rolled at the end of each round so players do not actually know which card they are trying to beat. A fairly simple hierarchy determines who wins each round. (Blue > red / red > green / green > blue / wild > all / higher numbers > lower numbers of the same color)
When a player's card beats a pirate's card, they earn one, two, three or four points, depending on the pirate. The five players with the highest number of points at the end of the week would win the minis, with 5 silver seeds given to runners up and the remaining 5 handed out at the judges' discretion for exceptional or humorous RP. If there aren't very many participants, some of the RP seeds may be given to the pirate minipet winners as well.
I set up a messy test run of this game here where each round was roughly 20 minutes as opposed to a full day. (THANKS TO NEKO FOR PLAYING BECAUSE SHE IS AWESOME)

I can also do PHP/SQL! I've been trying to teach myself PHP/SQL for what seems like forever, but without real world applications and deadlines, I never have the push I need to get very far. I would love a project to contribute little things to, but I am not very proficient at the moment and might do more harm than good. Still, my desire to help is strong and I don't mind troubleshooting others' code and other rote, assembly line-ish tasks. (And yes, I am experienced with other languages, so I can troubleshoot without knowing precise syntax blah blah blah nerdcakes)
