Why the hell she kept waking up just before sunrise was beyond her. Jael often stayed up later than her fellow travelers, and yet she was always the first up. It wasn't like she was really complaining. It was quiet in the mornings, and she didn't have to watch the two guys grope each other or kiss each other good morning. She didn't have to listen to Fawn's rambling about having Stag and Bear sleep seperately. Tying the last layer around her waist, the Lycan Gypsy came out of her tent and messed with her hair, using her fingers as a brush of sorts. Her bandana was no where to be seen, which meant she would wear her hair loose.
When the sun was up, she went to market early, hiding her purse away under the many layers around her waist. She knew where the spots were they'd check for someone like her. She was a pick pocket herself.
As she walked, her tail and hips swayed from one way to the other, inspecting some fruits with a hip cocked to the side. Every once in a while, she'd flip her hair over her shoulder. What caught her eyes was a glimps of polished metal. Once more, she found her way back to a silversmith and his table of pretty things she could dress herself in. "Hm...."
Whether or not Edeyja Alezander Swiftsail wanted to wake up at the crack of dawn, he was required. Everyone knew that to a merchant, arriving at the market first was just as important as keeping your prices balanced - low enough to sell, high enough to make a profit. Luckily Edy was used to waking up this early. It'd been something he'd done since he was a wee cub. Growing up with a fisherman had it's perks. (Of course it had its downsides too, including the constant smell.)
Everything at his stall was set up, ready for the day to begin. His stall was full of objects from all over the world. Most of them were exotic fabrics and trinkets - things that weren't availble to anyone in this town unless they traveled, and who had time for that!? Thats what Edy's job was. He traveled for those who couldn't. Soon he would be on his way, bags full of things from this town, onto the next.
The lycan lounged back in the chair he always brought with him, enjoying a warm breakfast he'd bought at the nearby inn, and waited. Hopefully he would have time to eat his breakfast, though just like the merchants, the most eager shoppers came early too. After all, "the early bird catches the worm".
Some fabric, bright and beautiful, caught her attention and brought her to Edy's stall. Looking things over, fabric, the trinkets, she examined everything with scrutiny, like everyone was trying to cheat her. And being who she was, she had too. People thought she was dumb because she was a fortune teller, or a cheat herself so she wouldn't know when someone was trying to cheat her. More than once she'd gotten someone arrested for cheating her. They didn't know how cover up their tracks like she did. Hardly anyone ever did. That's why she hadn't bothered in finding a husband or even act like she was interested in it.
However, life with a couple that were so obviously in love made her feel a little.... lonely. Her eyes looked sad as she looked at the fabric. She'd look really good in it, she knew. It would be nice to have a new skirt or a new dress, something new she can wear on stage and attract more attention. The more attention she got, the more she got paid.
"Excuse me... How much is about four feet of this fabric?" She didn't even look up as she spoke, waiting on an answer while licking her full lips.
Edy had watched Jael from his stall, munching away on his porriage. He'd heard about a gypsy with golden skin and thick white hair, who had gotten merchants arrested for scheming her. Now there was no way for Edy to know that this was the woman, but she fit the general description, so he had to be careful.... If she came to his stall that is.
She looked at the other merchants tables with that same look that the hagglers had - the one that said that they weren't just a casual shopper. These people were the big spenders! They didn't get simple things, they got the high class items. The high class items that Edeyja sold.
He finished his food just in time, setting away the little bowl it came in, before he stood up, beaming to the girl. "Well, usually I sell them at a pretty high price..." He said, running his hand over his favorite roll of fabric. "It's very rare... It's worth quite a bit... However, for a beauty like you... I'll let you name your own price." He gave her a flirtatious smirk. "After all, it'll make your eyes really pop."
The voice caught her attention and Jael looked up at him. Then the lines happened she she almost scoffed at him. Almost. However, something about this one read that he had experiance and knew that was kind of lame. So, she let it slide and basically ignored it. "For four, I'll give you..." She reached into her coin purse and produced a few coins. It was enough, she thought, to cover what it normally cost. It was good quaility, and he was right; her eyes would stand right now.
"...I've seen you once or twice before... In different towns. You travel about as much as I do. You're not following me or anything?" It was a silly question, but at the same time, she was half serious. She said it kind seductively, but mainly she was trying to get him to not take this much. By letting her name her own price, she could have dropped the cost of it. But, she thought she knew how he would react. Or rather, she hoped she was right.
Edeyja looked over her coins, before he nodded. "The price is fair enough." He said. "Don't tell anyone, but you're getting a really stellar deal." He took her coins and pocketed them, before rolling out the fabric and measuring it. "Would you like it wrapped? It'll be no extra charge." He said, flashing her one of those flirtatious grins, his tail flicking behind him.
He couldn't help but flirt. It was almost automatic these days. Maybe thats why he made so much money. It was a real vicious cycle, but it was like a drug. He couldn't stop. By now he'd probably end up conquering the world with the front of his pants.
Ah, so he would charge her full price and flat out lie to her about it. she bit her tongue, because he was pretty damn cute, even if he did smell like a fish place. It took everything she had to not wrinkle her nose when the wind caught her just right and brought the smell of rotting fish to her nose. "Yes, please wrap it. I don't want it getting dirty when I take it back and work with it." Her own bushy tail flicked behind her carefully as she watched him, looking over some of his necklaces. She found one that caught her attention because it would go with the fabric.
"I'll take this one. The red and orange one? It'd work with the fabric. Do you have any loose bead so I can sew it?" It seemed she really wanted to make a really nice something for herself. He didn't react at all like she expected him too. "...What's your name, merchant?"
Edy flicked an ear as the fish from a nearby small graced his nose. He was used to it, though, and it didn't even make him flinch. He wrapped it, humming a small song. "I do. The price is on the bucket." He said, pointing to a bucket full of fancy beads in every color and style. "I've collected them from all over, so I beleive I have a good assortment."
His ears perked as he tied a ribbon around her purchase, looking up. "Oh, well I am Edeyja Alezander Swiftsail. And who might you be?"
[And then the Franken pet game and we decided to switch to script to save time while we played]
Jael: I'm Jael. I'm a traveling dancer and palm reader. -her own fancy way of saying she was a gypsy, looking him over and then to the bow and grinning, looking through them all and nodding- I'll take all of the reds. -purchases them and gives him more coins and picked up the bucket-
Edy: -took the coins, nodding- Alright. It's nice to meet you, Jael. -says this with another flirtatious grin - he is on a roll today- Its not often I get to meet a beauty like you.
Jael: ....-snorted, pushing her hair from her face as she took her things up and shook her head- I'm sure you use that on all the girls. LIsten.... ....Edy, I'm going to be in town for a while... -looked him over twice from head to toe and gave an appreciative noise- .....If you're around, seek me out.
Edy: -shakes his head- No, not all of them. -grins- ...How about you and I head over to the tavern for a drink? I had an excellent haul the other day, and its my last day in this town...
Jael: It's to early in the day for a drink, Edy. But you're cute for trying. -watched him and put the fabric under her arm-
Edy: Ah, well... Perhaps later tonight? -said this while he put away her payment in his coin box-
Jael: -nodded a little and chuckled- If you're still this cute by tonight, and you find me, I will. -playing hard to get-
Jael: Look for the Gypsy. -chuckled a little bit-
Edy: -smirked- Alright. I'll look for the gypsy. -chuckles- Have a nice day, Jael.
Jael: -sauntered away, waving her hand as she went back to her gypsy van she always traveled with-
Edy: -had packed up just a bit before sunset, at the same time the rest of the merchants did, leaving his goods safely back on his boat, before he went in search for Jael-
Jael: -was sitting in front of the inn, eating watermelon, legs crossed, but bare from about mid-thigh down, since her skirt was parting to hr sides, tail flicking, one hand fanning herself with a paper fan, the other putting watermelon to her lips- Mn...
Edy: -ears perked when he saw Jael, before sauntering right up to her- Well, there you are. I've been looking all over for you.
Jael: -looking up at him, licking juice from her lips and grinning- I said come find me. I never said I was going to make it easy.
Edy: -chuckles- Well, I'm here now, and I'm not lettin' you out of my sight until we've had a drink. -grins charmingly at her- It's a balmy night... How about we go to this little cafe down the road? It has a nice veiw, outdoor seating...
Jael: -still eating her watermelon, shrugging as she listened to him before offering him a slice- Or... -said, licking her lips- We can stay here.. let me eat this and then go to the cafe.
Edy: -lets out a small sigh, before smiling and taking a seat next to her- Very well. We'll eat this. -takes the slice, before digging in-
Jael: -arched a brow at his sigh, licking her fingers- What, you would rather I toss something I paid hard earned money for? You should know the value of a coin.
Edy: -chuckled, watching her lick her lips, before taking annother bite- Right, right... Okay.
Jael: -chuckled and finished off the melon at a slow pace, taking her time and then looked to him, cleaning herself with a piece of cloth- Well.... we can get something to drink at the cafe.
Edy: -finishes up, whiping his mouth with a hankercheif before stuffing it back in his pocket- Alright. Are you a drinker?
Jael: Depends on what you're buying me. -chuckles a bit, getting up and stretching out-
Edy: Why, anything you want. I had another good haul today. Not to brag, but... Well I don't want you to feel worried that you're spending too much.
Jael: -chuckled and shrugged when he bragged, walking ahead of him, hands behind her back, laced- You and me both. I have to make my own living, you know.
Edy: -laughs- Of course... But you're not the one who offered the date. -smiles, offering his arm to her-
Jael: -took his arm casually, flicking her tail behind her as she nodded- So, Edy... why so persistant with me when I know there's others who want you. The merchant next to you wanted you. -chuckled-
Edy: -snorts- Why else would I? I don't want the merchant in the next stall... he's quite a pushy fellow.
Jael: -laughed out right at that and shook her head- Poor fellow! Kicked when he wasn't looking.
Edy: -laughs- Well, you saw how pushy he got with his customers. Goodness, that is no way to sell.
Jael: -kept laughing until they got to the cafe, sitting down at a booth in the back for two and got comfortable- I'll have whatever he's having. -arches a brow challengingly-
Edy: -sat down across from her, before giving her a smirk- Give us the finest wine you have, in the bottle.
Jael: -nodded, folding her hands in front of her on the table, watching him curiously- You seem like a pretty picky fellow. I just get a feeling from you..
Edy: I don't think so... I just... Know what I like and I except nothing less... -smirks- I'm sure you're the same. -pours her a glass of wine when it arrives-
Jael: -swirls the wine and takes a sip, inhaling as she did and then nodded- Well, you have that right...
Edy: -watches her carefully, swirling his own glass and sipping from it- Well, It was a lucky guess.
Jael: So. Tell me about yourself. Where you grew up.... and all that.
Edy: Well... I grew up on the coast. My father was an ex-navyman and my mum was a housewife. My dad worked as a fisherman and I helped him... And, well... When I was old enough, I went off on my own and started mercantry.
Jael: -nodded a little as she listened, taking a sip ever now and then and then smiled when he finished- That's quite a background. Do you miss your parents?
Edy: -shrugs- Yes and no. I still keep in touch with them. Pap is retired and ornary... Mum is a typical mum. I visit them on holidays... -shrugs- Well, what about you?
Jael: -nodded a little and leaned in, reaching to touch his hair- Who's hair did you get? Was your beautiful hair a gift from mom? -murmured softly-
Edy: -suddenly blushes, looking bashful- It was, actually... At least I think so. My father was bald for my entire life!
Jael: -chuckles softly and nodded, fingers caressing his cheeks- Ah, well. He must have been handsome to have helped make you. -leaned back in her eat quite calmly-
Edy: -flushes, sipping his wine, before touching her hand gently- He was very handsome indeed. He's a real man... I almost envy him.
Jael: -smiling a little at that- You seem to be a real man. You make an honest living, don't you?
Edy: -chuckles- I do... I try to abide by the law as best I can. I used to break all the rules as a teenager, but I've had enough of that.
Jael: Grown up already? Too old to go out and get plastered and have a night of your life? -grinned-
Edy: -chuckles- No, not too old for that. -smirks- Are you?
Jael: Do I look too old for that? -arched a brow, mock offense on her face- No, but I chose not too because I don't want to work with a hang over.
Edy: -shakes his head- No, you don't. But phyisical age isn't the same as mental age. -sighs- Ah... I feel the same way. Sitting at a stall all day with a hangover isn't something I reccommend.
Jael: Try palm reading or fortune telling or dancing with a hang over and we'll see. -chuckled, putting her empty glass down, tail flicking-
Edy: -chuckles, watching her through half lidded eyes- I'm afraid I'm a terrible dancer... My dancing is a horrendous sight to see... I'm sure if I did it with a hangover I would likely kill someone. -holds up the bottle- Would you like more?
Jael: -nodded, offering him her glass and then tapped her lips with her finger- You look as though you could be graceful on your toes.. Given you had someone patient enough to teach you.
Edy: -blushes at the tapping of her lips, before pouring her another glass- Well... I've tried, and failed... My mum tried teaching me when I was a young boy. I think it's because I took after my father's sailing blood.
Jael: -chuckled- I've... entertained some sailors who were very light on their feet. I could, possibly, teach you...
Edy: -shakes his head- Ah, it wouldn't be of any use... I'm leaving this town tomorrow morning.
Jael: Oh? Pity. I'm staying for a bit longer.
Edy: -nods- It really is a shame. -sighs, looking saddened all of a sudden- Well, maybe I'll run into you again, and you can teach me then. -grins-
Jael: .... I can't coax you into staying a bit longer? -arched a brow, reaching out to clasp his hand, looking at him coyly-
Edy: -blushes, his eyes widening a bit, before smirking- Well... Maybe you can. What sort of coaxing do you do?
Jael: .. I could.. show you a special sort of dance tonight.. -grinned a bit, stroking his fingers-
Edy: A special sort of dance, mn...? -pets her fingers gently, before lacing their fingers together- It's a poor descision on my part... But, okay. -grins-
Jael: -chuckled and nodded, finding this night suddenly more entertaining than it was- It's too early to turn in... Unless you know of some way to keep me entertained for a while...?
Edy: -chuckes- Entertain you...? Hm... How about we go on a walk? The weather is nice.
Jael: Alright. Sounds fun... -chuckled and arched a brow- Should we go now? -let a bare foot slide up aling his leg, teasing him-
Edy: -flushes deeply when he feels the foot, looking at their bottle- Well, our wine is gone. We might as well.
Jael: -nodded and got up slowly, adjusting her layers of skirts- Alright then.
Edy: -left the money on the table, before getting up and offering his hand- Well, lets be off.
Jael: -took his hand in hers, nodding and tugging his arm against her- Alright. Let's... -walks with him-
Edy: -blushes, a shy smile on his face as he laces their fingers together, leading her towards the lake-
Jael: -let her tail flick against his as they walked, trying to think of something witty to say- What's wrong? Cat got your tongue? -teasing tone-
Edy: -shrugs- I don't know, don't you think the sounds of nature are more enjoyable than listening to me blabber on about things? -smirks- Though, they certainly aren't more enjoyable than your voice.
Jael: -shrugged and kept the grin on her face- I don't know. Your voice is nice to listen too, that's for one thing. That's how you get so much business besides your looks.
Edy: -flushes, looking to the side, his tail barely brushing against her- Well... I try my hardest. -takes her to the lake, sitting on a log-
Jael: -sat next to him, staring out at the moon on the lake and grinned softly- It works for you. -chuckles softly again and sighed- To tell the truth, It's good to be away from who I'm traveling with. ....A good bunch, I THINK, but man, they're noisy.
Edy: -sighs, looking to the moon and smiling at her- Oh? What sort of bunch are they?
Jael: We have a couple of the same sex and ....like one of their dad's and the other's closeminded sister who thats her brother is with another man
Edy: -raises a brow- Oh? I'm surprised you haven't persuaded them the other way...
Jael: I've tried. -sighed softly- I really did. One of them is dumber than a bag of rocks, but he's quiet the looker.
Edy: Well... I suppose some are set in their ways. Gods know I've tried to persuade that other merchant otherwise. He's practically my stalker.
Jael: Maybe if you had a pretty girl hanging on you in the morning.. -flicked her tail with a chuckle-
Edy: -smirks- Oh, are you suggesting something...?
Jael: -shrugged- I could come down early tomorrow and just.... hang about.
Edy: -smirks- Well, lets see how tonight goes, hmm?
Jael: I could completely hate you by the morning. You're right. -nodded sagely-
Edy: -grins- You're right... So, what about that special dance?
Jael: Not in public. If we were to go wherever it was you were staying..?
Edy: -eyebrows go up, blushing slightly-Not in public? Well, I have a room at the inn...
THEN THEY GO TO THE INN AND DO THE BEDROOM TANGO. THE END.
