((this is part of the same plot as the message board, the two threads will merge later))

((Only Pidge Who Are Not In the Message Board Scene can See this Crime Scene))

the sun was crawling up over the foggy cold morning sky and a heavy dew clung to everything. Lotto had been on lookout duty this morning, she was a young witch and her heavy eyes drooped as she smiled at the sight of the sun, it wouldnt be long before someone came to relieve her of the post and she could go back inside the mill and roost. she yawned and streached her wings, rising onto her tippy-toes. With her yawning closed eyes she diddnt see the shadow draw over her.
she shuffled her wings at the cold and watched her breath fog up in the air. Her little beak chattered slightly, she heard the sound of wings behind her, and even before she had time to turn around she was torn through.

from her lookout atop a lamppost, her body lay limp as several slate feathers drifted down. The sun had started to burn through the clouds, soon someone would find this.

((Notes: This is an RP of the crime scene, before Claude arrives on scene with medics, any pidge from any flock can discover this.

The dead pidge is a young female slate witch named 'Lotto' make up more of her background if you like, mabye your pidge knew her better, she has died from a single stab through her side, there is no sign of how it happened))

Breakeven was looking for a bit of gossip and trying to find one of his informers to get it when he spotted something out of the corner of his eye. Flying closer, he almost didn't believe his eyes. "Oh no...not good, so not good." Landing next to the body, he didn't know what to do, there was too much blood and he could tell who ever this pidge was, she was no longer apart of this world.

Not knowing what to do, Breakeven started shouting, "HELP, SOMEONE HELP, A MURDER HAS HAPPENED!"

Elaine had been inspecting a really pretty bottlecap when she heard someone unfamiliar shouting at the top of his lungs. That didn't stop her from pushing the bottlecap down into her little bag of trinkets before half hopping / half flying passed the street, ignoring the honking of taxi cabs and looking down at the body of Lotto before her eyes before looking to Breakeven.

"Oh, golly! Oh, golly golly golly...!" Elaine pressed her wings to her face and stared. "What's happened here!?"

Her eyes scanned the scene, the first place she looked after that was up.

"Is it safe here!?"

User Image Red Light was not a morning pidge.

In fact, the young guard was running a wee bit late to take position as a look out and he hoped dearly that Lotto wasn't furious with him. He'd overslept again! He hurried as quickly as he could, his brightly tipped wings practically a blur as he headed towards the designated lamp post.

He heard the others, before he saw them. He didn't recognize either voice and assumed them members of another flock, a correct assumption. What baffled him was the panic to their voices. He'd not been able to make out Breakeven's cries of "murder" at the distance he had been in, but he didn't need to as he drifted towards his goal and caught sight of Lotto's limp body.

He nearly missed landing all together, no thanks to a mixture of his natural born clumsiness and the sudden shock that seized him.

"Lotto!? What happened here? Who are you two?" It was hard to keep the accusation from his voice as he hopped closer to the young witch. Though he'd not been particularly close to her, she was still part of the flock and he'd hammed it up with her on several occasions. He simply couldn't wrap his mind around the situation. What had happened, here? If she'd been hit by a hawk, she'd be long gone.

Bees Knees was out and about early looking for any good stories or for any lady-pidge to impress with his perfect-ness. He strutted here and there hoping to see something then suddenly from afar he heard cries of a murder coming from near the mill. 'Murder...?' he thought as he took to the air, 'Seems like the gossip musta had somethin' to it.'

He reached the scene of the crime and gasped when he saw the little female all limp and bloody. "Why, this is terrible! Whoda done gone and hurt such a fine little thing?" he asked as he landed, looking around at the other pidge. He'd seen Elaine around the church in passing so he knew she was from his flock and Happy Hour's flock could never do something so horrible, but these other two... He looked at Redlight and figured he was one of Big Ma's birds because of his color so he was probably innocent. Then, he looked at Breakeven and the blue heart in the pidge's chest, blue was baker's color from what he'd seen flying by their kind during his story/lady hunts. He didn't want to assume but he knew that Baker and Big Ma had, had disagreement, this pidge was a likely suspect.

User ImageThe nightmares were back again and needless to say Long Shadows had a very restless night. So restless in fact that his body had one of those rare moments where he became so exhausted, he was wide awake. Just before the crack of dawn, the energy slowly poured into him and he felt the need to take to the sky, to find something. To steal something. Or at the very least take a morning flight around the area; wandering flights had became a frequent activity of his lately, and of course he dragged his daughter along for the ride. There was never a moment he could let her out of his sight; even now that she was an adult. She could still disappear, or worse, chose to leave him forever. So he had no choice but to keep her close and well protected.

"Da...Why'd we have to get up so early again? You know I'm not a morning bird," Delacorte whined. It was a rare whine, Dela almost never complained about her father's occasional strange antics or his overbearing parenting, but today it interfered with her sleep. Her dreams were not something she enjoyed being interrupted; it was the only time she could freely create and sort out the stories in her head...

"Because-" Shadows started, and would have probably ended all the same, but cut off abruptly. There was something going on below. "Dela, something's going on down there. I don't like the looks of it. We should leave. Not our business."

"Oh come on, Da! Just a quick look," Dela's curiosity shined through her eyes like some forgotten light.

"Fine. But if there's any instance of trouble, we're leaving."

The father and daughter pair landed in the back of the gathering group of birds, not spying the body right away. But when they did, Shadows nearly had a fit and Delacorte nearly fainted. "We're leaving. Now,"

Good Evening Elaine recognized Bees Knees and, since he was the only one there from her flock, seemed to gravitate towards him though her eyes never left the body of poor Lotto.

"Lotto? Was that her name?" she looked to Red Light. "This guy here was screaming for help," she shot a wing towards Breakeven. "I don't think he's done it, though. It'd be silly to call for help if you've done it, right?"

She looked up again, leaning in next to Bees Knees out of fear and in want of protection.

"I seen some drop from the sky all of a sudden-like, but they were old! Never just cut down like this! Someone meant to do this, I reckon, but why?"

Bees noticed Elaine inching towards him and felt compelled to put a wing on her should to comfort her, a lady in emotional distress demanded comfort in his eyes. "I make sure you ain't harmed," he assured her "My name's Bees Knees and you're safe with me, Hun... But... why would anyone kill a little lady like that? She wa'int hurtin nobody!" he turned his attention to Breakeven, "Maybe you did do it and called out so it'll just look like you found her... I ain't sayin' you did but it's a mighty suspicious situation, and you 'are' from Baker's flock..."

"Baker's..." Red Light, in his worry, hadn't even noticed the blue mark on Breakeven's chest. He felt, well, torn. Part of him welled with fear and hate. His feathers puffed up as he stood protectively over Lotto's crumpled, blood stained body. He didn't know what kind of injuries she had, that'd be something Claude and the doctors would have to determine, when they arrived. He needed to report to someone, yet couldn't bring himself to leave the broken body of his flockmate.

What gnawed at him, however, was an underlying fear. Baker and Ma had their conflicting histories, that was no secret to anyone. He knew he was supposed to dislike Baker's flock. It was law, after all, that they shouldn't. Why did he want to believe so hard that they couldn't be capable?

Still, his brow furrowed and a scowl scrawled across his beak as he glared at Breakeven accusingly. What was he doing so near to Ma's borders, anyways? Convenient that he'd just happen to be there, right?

"You could be right, uh... What's your name?" He turned his gaze to Bees, appearing distraught at the loss of the young witch. It was rare for him to feel angry, but he felt just that. This was no accident and it was no predator. And a Baker's member just happened to be near their territory.

"You best be staying right here, cos I'm guessing the Heads would want a talk with you."

Breakeven didn't believe it...he was a suspect. Shaking his head no, "I didn't do this...couldn't do this. I don't care what flock someone is from, I'm not about to kill them for it!" Looks lost and not sure what to do." Just gathering gossip from some of the birds around and...I found her, just like that. I haven't touched her...I promise I didn't do this. I won't go anywhere...I've got nothing to hide."

"I'm Good Evening Elaine," Elaine replied to everyone who was interested, staying close to Bees Knees until more recognizable faces arrived. "I really don't think he did it. Just because he's Baker don't mean anything. Maybe it was a set up or somethin'!"

Truth be told, she didn't want to believe any pidge from any flock was capable of killing any other. It was bad enough they were often thought of as pests by other species. The idea that they were killing each other off sounded barbaric and she'd like to think they were all past that. But looking down at poor Lotto, shades of doubt were falling over them all.

"We should cover her up with something, shouldn't we?"

"Names Bees Knees," said Bees to Red Light before looking over at Elaine. "Yeah... maybe we should. Poor little darlin', I hope she didn't suffer." he then looked back to Red Light, "Eh... I said i ain't sayin he did it.. Might very well just be plain unlucky to be the first here." he looked at Breakeven, "You don't look like a killer, Son, and i hope you ain't." he looked again at the body of Lotto with a look of uneasy sadness, he wanted to do something, to find who hurt this little lady and make them pay. "But either way, think we should move her? The lead guards might not be likin' that too much if'n we do..."

Claude was doing his rounds and checking in with the different lookout posts dotted around the Mill-roost of Ma's. The bright coffee Red Light was on duty at the post he was due to visit next, the witch from the night shift would have passed on any info to him and Claude was due to collect any observations.
As he whistled through the cold air closer, he noticed quite a collection of pidge at the post. He readied himself to scold Light for bringing what looked like all his friends to the job. Although most of them diddnt seem to be having fun, and also, Red Light diddnt seem like the type to have such a vast network of varied friends, Claude thought to himself, harshly judging what he saw of the young male pidge.
But harshly judging and calculating were what Claude specialised in and manners wernt essential to keeping his flock safe.

These wernt Red Lights friends, a stone set in his stomach as he landed on the post with a heavy heart. He had seen the limp body between them all.
"Ok lets stand back a bit" The small statured but sturdy coffee pidge bustled through. He looked around him.
"Dont move the body" Claude glanced at it, but he could hardly look at it, for all his bravado and gruff manners, this dead young female made him a mixture of anger and sickness and he needed to hold a shaky grasp some kind of calm composure.
"Red Light, What happened here?"
He looked to the gaurd.

"I'm Breakeven...and I found her like that," Breakeven says to the new pidge that seemed to be taking control. Breakeven really wanted to fly away and get away from this gruesome mess but he knew it would look way to suspicious if he were to do that. Him being from Baker's flock was going to get enough pidge's feathers in a bunch.
