The weather was perfect today as Amelia strolled through the grassy knolls, a small tune replaying itself pleasantly in her head. The sun shone brightly, radiating warmth down onto her back, sending delicious comfort down her freshly groomed shoulders and haunches and down into her newly polished hooves. If she got too warm, a breeze blew by and gently brushed away a few of the sun’s rays, keeping her from the sweat that would stain her coat with salty streaks what would take forever to have washed away. Amelia picked up her hooves carefully, avoiding ugly green stains on her fetlocks and hooves, giving her gait a sort of prancing appearance, which suited her just fine. At that moment Amelia was on her way to her small grove filled with the blooming lilac that she liked to nibble on. Besides the fragrant salad the flora provided her with, the blossoms infused her coat with the scent of their petals.
Amelia was distracted momentarily by a small human child to her left. She watched him carefully while he reached out for her. She made a disgusted noise and drew away; forgetting to lift her legs properly and certain she now had grass stains on her ankles. The child drew back as well, hurt painted on his face, though Amelia could not trouble herself with that. Nasty little thing almost ruffled her mane, and she just had it redone. She even and her roses replaced, the old wilted ones replaced with fresh. And this little devil was going to muss them up. She could not have that. As his eyes filled with tears, rejected by the beauty that she was, Amelia walked away, unaffected by the pitiful sight of the child. She had placed to be, more important places than this.

Eden had been working all morning, she had better things to do than preen, much to her mothers despair, her only daughter always came home scruffy. Though Eden couldn't understand why her mother looked so forlorn, she chose to groom her daughter, to Eden's thinking the more she came home scruffy the more time they spent together, good thing to her thinking. But then she probably wasn't aware her mother had already started thinking about grandfoals, and so she despaired that her daughter was never clean long enough to attract a stallion. But there were better things to do.
The herdlands of her family herd were open to anyone, well more or less, their motto was come in piece or leave in pieces, so as long as you just wanted to visit or pass through you were fine. However they liked to know when others came into their land, especially as some didn't come in piece. And that is what Eden worked on, and so today found her in the lilac clearing, setting up the chimes she made so that there was some warning when strangers came calling. They sounded nice too, so it shouldn't scare the strangers, she didn't want that, but hopefully if they meant harm to the herd they would think twice after setting off the chimes.

Amelia had inspected her fetlocks and thanked the heavens they were not stained. She grinned happily to herself, thankful for small miracles and continued on her journey. It was uninterrupted for the rest of the way. She arrived in the clearing in good time, the smell of the flowers luring her with their seductive scent. The leaves tickled her shoulders as the breezed moved them around her. Amelia was happy to be back. This was truly her favorite place to be in all the lands. The scent of the lilacs mingled with the scent of her roses, creating the most sensual aroma it had ever been her pleasure to create. Passing by a sprig of flowers she nipped the top off. So lovely.
Amelia’s ears perked at the sound of something new. She raised her head from smelling a bunch of flowers and looked around. Someone had put up wind chimes for her enjoyment. She grinned at the gesture. Someone was clever enough to realize that the only way to make a good meal great is with beautiful music. And so they put up chimes for her. Amelia wondered if the soquili was still around so that she might commend them for their actions.

Eden was indeed still about, and had been watching the mare for a little while now, though being green she did blend in somewhat... Well mostly green... So watch the mare she did, quietly observant, no awe or appreciation in her eyes, just mild interest in one of the many strangers that came to her family herd lands, and this one so prancing looking around as if she had claimed the place.
This didn't bother Eden though, things like this never bothered her, if the mare thought of this place a hers she would be told otherwise and if needs be shown, though none of the herd would harm her without good cause. When she was done looking she turned and checked the other chime she had placed again and started to walk away, after all she wasn't waiting on a meeting with the mare, she had more important things to do.

Movement out of the corner of Amelia’s eye caught her attention. That combined with the soft song of the wind chimes confined her suspicions that someone was, indeed, with her in that field. Looking around she almost missed the plane of green and blue moving in the brush. A grin spread across her face as Amelia carefully picked her way across the field of clover. “Excuse me! Excuse me, miss!” Oh drat, a clump of dirt got stuck to Amelia’s fetlock. She stopped for a moment to shake it off, grooming away the debris gently before she continued on. “Miss, miss! I’m terribly sorry to interrupt you, but might I ask if you were the one who put up these lovely wind chimes?” She grinned brightly once in ear shot of the mare. Once within sighting range Amelia grinned wider. “My, aren’t you a wonder to behold? I simply love your hair; you must tell me how you got it like that. I can’t do a thing with mine in this humidity.” She nosed the lock over her shoulder with a grin and adjusted her rose. “Goodness I wish I could wear short hair, but mine always comes out looking so poofy. The curse of a full mane, I suppose. Short really is the only thing you can do with a thin one.” If Amelia noticed she was being insensitive she didn’t give any sign. As it stood she did not realize. “Oh, look at me, rambling on and on! Back to the chimes. You did them, right?”

Having stopped Eden found herself observing the mare again, quietly just looking at her, not totally sure what to make of this prancy primping mare. Eden didn't do the self concious fidgit when the mare spoke about her hair, though she did have to have a glance wondering how on earth she had passed it off as short. Her eyes settling on the mare again, not tossing her long locks around at all or adjusting any of her frills or ribbons. "Yes I set the chimes in place, my family's herd welcome visitors and passers through but we like to know when others come, especially if they are away from the paths as often that is where danger comes." Not totally sure what the mare had been talking about with poofy and such, but clearly this was something dire in her book, Eden inclined her head, her long length of nearly straight hair pooling as she did by her hoof. "I hope you enjoy your visit to the Miakoda herdlands." She had no idea what else to say, but she certainly was not the fawning adoring type that the mare was used to, neither did she seem envious in any way, in fact if anything Eden was totally indifferent, Amelia might as well have been any mare under the sun as far as Eden was concerned.

If Amelia noticed Eden's indifference, she betrayed nothing on her face. As it stood, of course, she did not notice. The reason behind her mistake with Eden's hair was a simple one. She did not care. Small talk was a nicety she'd learned, though did not enjoy. Still, she thought, how quaint. If only the help back at my home was so formal. Lafayette was a nightmare to deal with. Honestly, why couldn't he just do what she told him. His father had given him to her to make her comfortable. She huffed at the thought inwardly, face pinching into a tight winkle. No, no lovely. Don't frown like that. You'll wrinkle prematurely. She shook the frown from her face and took a deep breath. Lafayette will learn his place soon enough. Another smile took it's place on her face. "It's so lovely that you do that for the family you work for. You must tell me who you work for. I can't get my help to do a thing for me. Impetuous boy that he is. He won't even do my hair in the mornings. I have to do it myself which is utterly ridiculous." She huffed again, tail flicking irately from side to side.

She had to quirk a brow, she couldn't help it, this mare was like no one she had ever met before. Work for? She could almost laugh, she was thought to be some kind of servant? Not sure how to react but her eyebrow lowered again back to her neutral expression. "I don't work for anyone, they are my family, I do this because I choose to be useful." Feeling oddly sorry for the boy help that she spoke of, she couldn't blame him really, she had no desire to fiddle with hair either, there were much more interesting and useful things to be doing. Her eyes wandering around the clearing before going back to the mare, Eden wasn't rude, though she did find herself disinclined to pay attention to this increasingly obviously vain mare. She almost wished she was a little more mischevious, wondering what the mare would do if she told her there was a spot on her face or a twig in her mane. But that wasn't Eden's way, besides the that she suspected would come from that was likely to be more headache than humour.

And how charming for the girl to think of the family as her own. Yes, she must meet these soquili and ask what they did to make her behave so well. "Of course, dear, of course." She moved on past Eden, her attention diverted to another of the musical chime. "But yes, I simply must have these where I reside. It's so dismal there, I haven't been able to really make my new home sparkle like it should. Yes. A wind chime or six would do just the thing." Amelia nosed that instrument lightly, delighting in it delicate sound. She almost forgot herself, as a matter of fact, and nearly pranced in place like a filly. Nearly. She coughed lightly, gently preening her mane once more.
"What do you charge this family for your services? Whatever it is, I will pay you double. I have the resources." It was true. In return for letting certain two leggers dote upon her, she was gifted bushels and bushels of goodies like sugared fruits, candies, and the freshest apples, which were her favorite. "Name your price, girl."

Eden would have gaped at that had she been normal, as it was she barely flickered an eyebrow, shaking her head not sure if the mare was trying to buy her or her work. "I have all I need, but please be careful, some of the chimes are trapped to stop those that would harm us from removing and silencing them." Making them chime wouldn't set off a trap, but taking some down might reveal some nasty surprises for the vain mare. Having with the know how of her great grandfather come up with some harmless but messy, smelly and gross traps, after all hurting someone for messing with some chimes was against the herd rules, but covering them in something nasty was not, and it might just deter them from getting up to worse. Pausing as she remembers something, giving a little whistle, a little green mouse that matched the mare scurrying down the tree she was by, only to settle at the base of her neck between the mares shoulders, gathering some of her long hair up to hide and nest in.
Looking back at the mare, wondering how she could be so self possessed as to have not really heard a single thing Eden had said, but then the world was filled with all kinds of people.

Amelia wasn't listening to Eden, instead marveling in the little noise the chimes made. "But I simply must have these little darlings around my home! Ah, the beautiful music they will make!" Amelia almost blushed with excitement at the idea. "If you won't be paid, I expect then you will work for free?" That suited Amelia just fine, really. She would part with some of her treasures for something bigger, but she'd love to get out of that if at all possible. "Then I will leave you with directions to my home and you will arrive with the chimes and set them up, yes?" Another bright grin towards Eden. "It's easy, really, just past Kawani Village, near Equa Unadelii. You'll know it when you see it, my Boy tends a rather fabulous garden around the perimeter." Amelia nodded rather finally, as though she'd made her final decision. "Yes. I'll expect you tomorrow morning."

Eden looked round at the mare who clearly was not listening, but she generally didn't get aggressive and she had never raised her voice unless it had been to call for help for another. Sighing and turning her head, her golden eyes on the mare, assessing her quietly before turning round and moving closer... Much closer. She didn't raise her voice, she didn't stomp or do anything but just stood and kept eye contact with the annoying mare till Eden was sure she would at least hear her one word answer. Then and only then did Eden gently, but clearly and firmly say the one worth the mare probably had never heard in her life. "No..." She knew it wasn't something the mare would expect, but she was not being listened to and that was somewhat annoying. Aside from that Eden hadn't missed the several subtle insults and digs, she just hadn't risen to them, but her patience was fading and soon she would just leave and let the mare cover herself in something nasty.... and hopefully smelly.... that was hard to wash off....

Crown's ears kept picking up the sound of chimes... towards the lavender field if he was correct. Considering Kyran was giving him some space while he worked Crown couldn't help but wonder if it was him setting them off again.... or maybe Eden, after all she had told Orion that she would be checking on them today, and when he had wandered to see her this morning the black and blue stallion was the only one to be found. A little disappointing... especially considering the news Crown had. Although he had agreed that Kryan should and could be there when he told the rest of his family, part of him wanted to tell Eden himself, one on one. He wasn't completely sure why it was so important, but it was.
His thoughts a little distracted he wandered towards the jingling noise, prepared to do his 'job' if needed... though he was still secretly hoping that it was Kyran. No such luck, though he recognised the mop of hair and feathers instantly, had grown up with them after all.... Eden. Which surprised him when he heard voices... Eden, talking to someone? It seemed that moles really could fly.
"Eden?" He said softly, approaching with his wings at his side so as not appear intimidating, still he was a little cautious, wondering if Eden was in trouble; even as a part of his mind whispered that she would not linger if that was the case. As he approached and saw the one she was talking to he relaxed a little. Just a mare, and while being a mare didn't mean you were instantly not a threat, to Crown's eyes this one seemed far fom what he would consider a threat. For that reason he tore his attention from her and to his sister, smiling with one of his dashing grins. "Your mate misses you Eden." He chuckled softly, "Don't make him worry so much... or I fear his blue hair will soon be grey." He winked, knowing that Eden would understand that he personally had nothing against her giving Orion a few grey hairs. Only then did he return his attention to the strange, nodding his head softly, "Miss. Welcome to the Miakoda Herd lands."

Amelia did not like her personal space invaded. And especially not by the help. Her face screwed up as she stepped back for every step Eden took forward. It wasn't enough. Amelia's rump hit a something and when she looked back to see that it was a tree, Eden closed in. Amelia looked back and there she was, right in her face.
And then her jaw dropped.
Amelia's mouth opened and closed several times before she finally spoke again. "How dare you speak to me that way. Do you have any idea who I am?" Her eyes narrowed and she pushed back, pressing her face against Eden's even though it made her sick to touch anyone else. "I will make sure you never work again. Your family will be hearing about this."
And then the stallion came out of the brush. It made Amelia relax.
"Oh, thank goodness. You... removed this horrendous creature. She's been nothing but disrespectful, and I've been so nice. Especially considering her station." Amelia cast an angry glare at Eden as she spoke.
