The Civilian
Name: Jessica Haze
Nicknames: Jessie, Jess, Nerd, Bookworm
Age: 25
Fav. Food: Ramin noddles, chicken or beef flavored and Klondike bars, mint chocolate chip flavor.
Hated Food: Fish.... any fish
Hobbies:
Reading - Jessie likes to read, no she loves to read. She reads like she is inhaling the books. She reads so much that as a young girl she could be counted on to have several books on her persons at any one time. Jessie reads just about anything spanning fiction and non fiction; from history to mystery, cooking to fantasy, or even fishing to science fiction.
Writing - I know it seems a bit redundant to say that Jessie likes to write as well as read but she does. She writes the most amazing fantasy stories in marble notebooks. Some have pirates and storms while others have witches and dragons. Good always triumphs over evil and true love always finds a way in her tales. Jessie knows this is not always the case in real life but at least in her worlds this will always be the case.
Virtues:
Kindness and light - Jessie is quite sweet. She always leaves a bowl of cream out for the local strays, tips 20% when ever she eats out, keeps the odd lollipop in her big bag she calls a purse for kids, as well as other odd little things she enjoys doing. Need money? Jessie will loan you a few bucks, just dont forget to pay her back eventually. Need a favor? Talk to Jessie, one of her books will know what to do. She does have a spine so while she is kind and sweet she is no doormat.
Imaginative and crafty - Make believe is one of her specialties. She can turn a drab room into a fairy wonderland with a bit of colored paper, scissors, and tape. Jessie uses her mind and her skills to turn nearly any normal place into a fantasy world worthy of Shakespear and Disney combined. This is not to say that if one does not wish to see what Jessie made with their imagination that it would be nothing more then just paper and tape.
Book Savvy. Arr matey? - Jessie knows her books and has picked up some interesting skills. She can make yummy pancakes, knows how to build a bird house, and can balance her check book without a problem. If she doesn't know it she knows where to look it up and if you need something she can direct you to the right book, or books as the case may be.
Flaws:
Shy to a fault - Jessie is quite shy. She is what one would call a wall flower. She doesn't like dances, parties or even really large picnics with lots of people. She is fine around her friends but when she is meeting someone the first time she is normally quite and as invisible as possible. Kids are the only thing that really makes her 'active' in the social scene. Jessie enjoys telling stories and playing games with young children but when talking to their parents... forget about it. That and books. You get her talking about books and its difficult to get her to shut up.
Overprotective of her books of course - If you buy a book from Jessie that's fine and good it is now your book but if you try to take one of her books she can get scary. Books are her life and love and she takes it personally if someone damages one of her books. Getting thrown out of her store is the least of what she will do, Jessie has been known to whack the older offenders with the books they misused. Again children are the only exception to this flaw, if they damage on of her books Jessie just scolds them then does her best to explain why what ever the child did was not nice.
Oblivious to everything but her books - Because of Jessie's love of books she can be oblivious to the world around her when she is absorbed in a particularly good book, which is sadly quite often. The building is on fire and she would only notice if the book caught fire. It is known that she can and does walk and read at the same time, only a few times has she ever ran into something doing this. This attribute of her causes issues when someone is trying to get her attention since she becomes irritable when pulled from a book without a damn good reason.

The Job
Current Occupation: Bookstore owner
Business Description: Jessie owns a small bookstore called "The Yellow Book Road". Its an eclectic little shop that has a large range of books. If YBR doesn't have it give Jessie a few days to get it for you, she hasn't yet been unable to find what a customer was looking for. A interesting feature about the bookstore is the courtyard out the side of the building that Jessie has turned into a reading nook where weekly story times are held for the young of Destiny City. To add whimsy to the courtyard there are small stone faeries, dragons, and gnomes peeking out of plants and flowers. There is even the odd squirrel hiding in the one of two maple trees at the edge of the courtyard. The squirrels will move occasionally when Jessie feels bored and wants to see if anyone notices the moved statues, it has become something of a game with the regulars.
The building is two floors and Jessie has converted the second floor into her apartment. This two is full of books, although unlike the books on the first floor none of these books are for sale.

The Look
Eyes: Jessie has hazel eyes, they look primarily brown but they do have hints of green. They are average size but are hidden behind a pair of silver rimed glasses.
Hair: Deep rich brown hair that is either up in a ponytail or is tucked in a messy bun. When its let down, which is sadly not that often, it flows down Jessie's back until it brushes right above the small of her back. She uses no accessories unless it is for her story times, although a pencil might be shoved behind the ear or into her pony tail occasionally.
Face: Jessy has a oval face that tappers a bit to a point at her chin. Her complexion is clear with just a bit of color from the sun. Her ears are small and dainty with one piercing in each ear. It has no real markings such as freckles but one might find a smudge mark on her forehead from newsprint or pencil dust.
Clothes: Jessie dresses simply and quietly. Jeans and a nice blouse is common, if it is hot out shorts and a nice t-shirt. If she feels a bit more feminine on any day a summer dress of a pale color is possible although this is not likely. Think along these lines but not necessarily these clothes.
