It was always unfortunate when things happened this way. Really it wasn't particularly difficult to simply honor your word and give what was owed. Lorenna sighed looking down at the small pile of knickknacks at her feet. This was most assuredly not what had been promised.

"It's really your own fault, you know." She called over her shoulder as she nudged the assortment with a hoof. "Three necklaces with colored stones or a barrel of fruit, that was all we asked. Really I think Carmine fancied you, giving out discounts like that and to think you would let her down. How pathetic." Lorenna eyed everything carefully before deciding there was nothing of value in the pile and turning around to face the two soquili standing by a tree. One was a mare cowering at the kalona female who was snarling at him.

"You have an additional month to obtain the payment requested with the addition of one beaded necklace. Should you fail to produce results I believe you know what will happen...Othelia? A demonstration if you will."

Othelia's ears twitched at the request before her head suddenly shot forward like a snake striking. And then just as quickly she resumed her previous position, the only difference being that her lips were now tinted red and the mare was now missing the tip of her ear.

This sort of action was far from unusual to the mare. It was simply how she lived her life. She had always had a taste for meat and it mattered not to her what form the meat took. Though, she did find it irritating having to restrain herself in times like these. She would much rather kill them and be done with it. This whole marking the target and waiting business was hard for her to follow.

"That is all. You are dismissed." Lorenna concluded before turning her back on the stallion and marching off with Othelia at her heals.

How long had he been running like this? Heck, he couldn't even tell by now. A heavy pant came from his flared nostrils, strong legs unwavering from their persistent gallop, heavy hooves thundering along the grasslands as he traveled at top speed. All muscles were flexed and in tact, working themselves, waiting for that rare burn that accompanied from a long days worth of constant full throttle speed. It was important to keep getting stronger, to push oneself was a key element in strength. Always st riving to rise higher in your prowess.

But as that burn did finally come after the many hours of storming down the vast lands, he took pause to replenish his used up moisture, his pelt glistening from the exertion. The clad metal made a clinking sound as he slowed his gait, easing to a canter, then a trot, as a pool of clean fresh water came into view. Unceremoniously, he let his neck drop to allow his head access to the liquid, opening his lips to suck up the cool water, still panting fiercely, causing some of it surrounding his nose to part and splash about, black tail fanning restlessly to assist in the cooling process. He'd also just left from a spar he'd had, with a foolish Kalona who was far too young and cocky to really take much seriousness in the battle at all. There was blood dried at the end of Zisor's horn, and plenty of it splattered against his dulled armor, even that gray pelt. But he didn't care. He bore a few battle scars as well, badges of pride.

It was going to be a long trip home no matter how Othelia looked at it. It had taken half a day to find the mare. then it had taken nearly five full minutes of chase before she was able to knock her to the ground and stop her from fleeing. It was never easy finding someone who didn't want to be found. "Is that it today?" She asked the small mare leading the way. Lorenna was only a flutter, Othelia could kill her easily, really she only listened because Carmine told her she should and the kalona quite liked Carmine.

"For field work, yes. We have other business to take care of back at head quarters." Or they most likely would. She had left Raven and Slipsand a few easy tasks to take care of, mostly reorganizing, since the others were busy. There was no way of telling if they actually would. The crow had a habit of dragging others into his wayward ways. "Before we head back I would like something to drink. I can see water over this way."

Othelia nodded her had as she listened. Base work was far from her favorite thing but at least it was never hard. "Water sounds good..." Her voice trailed off as she came to a complete stop sniffing at the air. Her eyes narrowed and focused on a shape by the pool Othelia was heading towards. She snarled and pawed at the ground with a cloven hoof. "Lorenna, stop." She growled staring at the shape past her. It was her job to protect the others when she was out with them. Her job and Wolf's. She could smell blood on the air. Whatever was at the pool was dangerous or wounded and she was taking no chances. "Blood."

She did not enjoy taking orders but she did as she was told hearing the edge in the mutant kalona's voice. She followed the other mare's gaze to the pool at she was headed to and finally noticed what Lorenna had. There was something else there. She frowned. "It's an inconvenience but let's find water elsewhere." She called back to Othelia as she turned around to retrace her steps back to the mare. "The water's no good if there's blood in it."

Though he'd been contently drinking... well, sloppily drinking more like it, body starting to cool down, he had picked up on the female's presence. His pale eyes only spared them a few minutes of a glance, gauging them from the distance he was out. It caused him to give a low snort in dismissal, not at all interested in them, but not really showing any hostility either. Females. So weak. And useless; aside from giving foals. He'd yet to meet one even worthy of his time. Most were all the same to him; pathetic damsels who couldn't live on their own. Frail princesses who expected to be catered to. The irritatingly bubbly ones, who's mind was filled with nothing but air and probably honeysuckle. Useless, useless things... Snorting once more, his gaze flickered away, and focused on the pool of water again. They were not worth his time. Neither threat or challenge. Just nuisances who were thankfully on their way, so it seemed.

After a few more minutes of lapping up the refreshing water, Zisor lifted his head and shook out his mane, water flying everywhere from his mouth, the stallion stepped further into the small oasis, allowing it to rise up to his knee's even filling into the guards he had just above his hooves. It wasn't often he'd come across water, so he was going to utilize it as best he could, eyes closing to enjoy it soaking into his coarse fur.

At the sloshing sound of water being displaced reached her ears the winged mare peer back over her shoulder. That was far much noise to be someone only drinking. He'd walked right into the water. Her face scrunched up in disgust. It was only normal to desire cleanliness and she imagined that others had done the same thing many times before. The actually sight of it, and knowledge that his hide had blood on it, made her a bit ill. "What riffraff." She muttered finally before refocusing on the kalona mare who stood in wait.

Othelia kept a sharp eye on the stallion and her female employer both. The male didn't seem to be paying any attention to them and that was too bad for her. He looked like he had a lot of meat on his bones but Lorenna would not likely let her attack for no reason. What a pity. Her golden eyes narrowed as her spaded tail flicked behind her in agitation. A low, rumbling, hissing noise emerged from her. She knew she could take him, knock that silly helmet off and disarm him. Keeping her head motionless her eyes drifted to the flutter mare who had finally returned.

Lorenna had heard the predatory noise coming from her unusual, and potentially life threatening, ally. That didn't seem like a particularly good thing and it put the short female on edge. Had the kalona finally snapped? She had always suspected that this day would eventually come. There was only so long one could keep company with one of their kind before lives were at risk. "Othelia." She said sharply hoping to regain control of the situation. "It is time to move on, Othelia. Let's be off. Now." Even straining her neck she couldn't make eye contact with the mare but she tried giving her a stern look all the same. "He's not worth the effort."

The kalona mare snarled first then looked back and forth between the flutter and the stallion. Finally lashing her tail at the ground she snorted irritatedly and turned away. "Fine." She growled her tail coiling and uncoiling, an obvious display of her disapproval. "But you'll wait while I find food at the new water." Lorenna may have been in charge but that was not a request. Her terms laid out she began to walk away from the silly stallion followed closely after by the mare.
