Sailor Maenalus strolled through the streets on a dark night not unlike any other. She didn't have a go-to patrol buddy as of yet, but that didn't worry her, maybe she'd get one later. Maenalus walked down an alley before emerging on a street. It was the darker, seedier part of town where warehouses and abandoned buildings were on every block. When she had walked all the way out here, she had been sure she would get to see some action. Hopefully it wouldn't be too much action.
She cracked her knuckles and looked around. So far her patrol had been calm, which was unexpected. Not a single youma or even a stray dog. She glanced over her shoulder to size up the position of the moon to get a feel for the time. Maenalus supposed it would be getting close to quittin' time. She shrugged and turned to walk back to her dorm, and was getting ready to power down. But then again... Maybe she'd better wait until she got closer. Just to be safe.

Daintily, the foot was inserted between the man and the ground, turning him over slowly. Suglitie's nose wrinkled as the smell of alcohol and ... other things wafted up from the shabby jacket. Quickly withdrawing her shoe, she turned and hurried off down the street. That was one human who wasn't even worth collecting energy from.
She only had herself to blame for ending up in this situation, she knew it. Destiny City was large, and she had decided on a whim to break away from the areas she knew and do a little exploring. And now she was rolling hobos for their energy in a part of town that seemed to constantly smell like it was fermenting.
"I mean, starting low is certainly a valid strategy, but really."
Muttering to herself, she nearly missed the faint tingle of an energy signal off in the distance. Stopping, she turned towards it with disbelief. What would a senshi be doing in these parts? If she hadn't felt the same energy during that fight at the end of prom, she wouldn't have believed it. Almost automatically, she began to hurry towards it.

Sailor Maenalus brushed her bangs out of her face and sighed. It would be a long walk back to her dorm, but maybe she could dust a youma on the way back. It was only when her hopes began to wane that she sensed energy- chaos energy. She looked over her shoulder for any sign of an approaching youma, as that's what she assumed it was.
The inexperienced senshi braced herself and faced the approaching energy. Maybe she could give a few good punches and kicks and dispatch this thing before bed time. Sure, she was a little bit over confident. She was pretty okay at dealing with youma when she was powered up. She still had scrapes turned scars from her first youma encounter, healing cuts that were deeper when she ran into one outside the library, and fresher scratches still from her run in with the Negaverse at prom. Oh, and a nasty bruise from getting hit with a brick.
As the energy got closer, Maenalus began to doubt her first instinct. It wasn't a youma. In fact, it felt faintly familiar. It must be a Negaverse agent, she remembered feeling the same thing during the fight against the mega-youma. But it was coming in hot and she didn't think she'd be able to get away. Not that she really wanted to. She could handle it. Maybe.

Slowing down the closer she came, Sugilite began to question herself. Running right into battle against an unknown senshi? What was she trying to do, replicate the charge of the light brigade? Perhaps it would be best to move cautiously from this point on. Besides, she wasn't sure she could quite pin-point exactly where her target was. That was the problem with this 'feeling the energy' business, it got a little vague about details. Stepping into an alley, she carefully swung herself up onto the lower level of a fire escape ladder, she began to climb the stairs to get a better vantage point.
Arriving on the roof of the dingy building, Sugilite approached the other side and cautiously peered over the edge. Nothing. Well, time to test just how improved her strength and reflexes were. Hesitating for a moment she took a few steps back and cleared the edge to the next building. Touching down a little unsteadily, she stood in shock for a few moments before shaking her head and continuing onto the next edge. And there she was, a young woman standing staring in the direction she was coming for, fists up and looking expectant.
Well of course she can sense me, why would it only work one way?
Biting her lip in annoyance, she stood up and stepped onto the ledge of the building. Maybe she could scare this nuisance and shake her up with a bit of posturing. In the dark, it was hard to see well, but she looked vaguely familiar. Perhaps one of the senshi who had been fighting after the prom? They hadn't seemed too tough a bunch.
"Well, what do we have here? Don't little girls know that they should stay inside after it gets dark?"

Maenalus flinched when she heard the voice speak to her from up above. She then shifted her fighting stance to face the opponent. She narrowed her eyes at the figure and stared hard in her direction.
"...You!"
It was hard not to recognize those glasses, or to forget someone who tried to break your shin with a brick. Maenalus was almost positive that she'd met this Nega after prom while fighting the giant youma. If Maenalus had a projectile attack, she'd use it right now. She glanced around on the ground in the mean time for something she could throw to knock her off her perch.
"Speak for yourself!" She spat in Sugilite's direction. "Why don't you come down here and try to make me?" Maenalus was usually measured and wary of conflict with the Negaverse, but she felt like she had a score to settle with this particular individual. Albeit maybe she was overreacting to an attack on her drunken person a little while ago, but she wanted to get even.

Sugilite's eyebrows rose a few inches higher on her forehead, causing her glasses to slip a fraction of an inch down her face. Me? Pushing her glasses up on her nose, she drew herself up and crossed her arms, tilting her head in thought. The voice sounded vaguely familiar. Oh well, one senshi was just like another. Confidence began to creep back into its accustomed seat as she considered her opponent further. Clearly this girl wasn't powerful enough to start slinging sparkles the moment she saw her opponent, and if she had met Sugilite before, the senshi hadn't been strong enough to leave a mark on her memory. I wonder what kind of reward I would get for taking out a senshi. A new weapon, possibly? At the very least, a bit of renown. The more she thought about this, the better it sounded. She took a step forward, and crouched down, as if to leap.
"If I were you, I wouldn't be so overly eager to invite me down. However, if you're going to be difficult about it, I'll gladly teach you a lesson on the virtues of listening to your betters!"

The senshi tensed and before blowing out a puff of air towards her bangs hadn't realized that she'd also been holding her breath. The nerve of this girl. Absolutely outlandish! She advanced towards the edge of the roof, as if to jump, but she was still perched above Maenalus. If she were to jump Maenalus would have the chance to deliver one mean upper-cut. For whatever reason her ideas on fighting evil were all about punching and kicking. And throwing things.
"You, my better? Just who are you, anyway?"
Maenalus glared at the nega agent. How could evil ever be better than good? Impossible! Her eyes darted around the scene, looking for some projectile she could throw at her. Trash and trash cans were around the senshi. Maybe she could grab something and knock her off the roof. At the thought, Maenalus chuclked.

With a toss of her head, Sugilite suddenly felt that tingly pleasing sensation of knowing more than her opponent. Did the girl really not know anything at all? Surely she wasn't just fighting for the pleasure of it. Bebe had been about to jump down and give the impudent girl a once over, but now she stopped to consider. The girl did seem a little barbaric. The way her fists curled and she scowled, why it was practically neolithic. She was really just an animal. Surely an animal can't be faulted for reveling in savage excess, it was in it's nature.
Nevertheless, Sugilite was curious. What right did this girl assume, what stories did she tell herself to justify her actions in this war? The girl clearly wasn't going to flee without provocation, and she couldn't attempt to climb up to Sugilite, so it was a stalemate until she chose to move. If there was ever a time to study the enemy, now seemed good.
"Someone who has a right to this planet that you're crawling around, infesting like some kind of filthy vermin! Where do you senshi get the nerve, running around like you hold any claim to this world?"
Something in the other girl seemed to be giving, as her eyes seemed to be nervously darting around the place. Perhaps she was looking for the quickest escape? At least she seemed to have a modicum of the instinct of self-preservation.

So she wouldn't tell Maenalus her name, huh? Fine! She didn't need it! And she certainly didn't need that fancy metaphorical bull crap either! Geeze, she sounded like the bad guys from a cartoon she watched when she was a kid. Maenalus just hoped she could make her enemy 'blast off' in the same manner.
She thought about informing her that Senshi didn't have a choice in the war, they were just awakened when the time was right. She didn't yet know about the past lives they had, herself included, yet, though. Negaverse had a choice to be corrupted and live in the darkness. But because she didn't know how much was common knowledge among the Negaverse, she kept her mouth shut and her lips pursed.
"And what turned your heart so dark that you chose to kill people, cloaked in anonymity? Do you think running around in disguise 'following orders' absolves you of any responsibility to your actions?" For as senselessly violent she acted in the heat of battle, Maenalus wasn't as dumb as she might look.
She was that violent when provoked, though. She bent over and grabbed a brick that had fallen off of the very building Sugilite was perched atop, and threw it at the Nega in the blink of an eye. How fitting that she made her assault with the very 'weapon' she'd been attacked with. Well, Maenalus' thoughts were more along the line of 'an eye for an eye!' as well as a string of profanities that she kept to herself.

Sugilige shrugged offhandedly at the remarks thrown back up at her. She hadn't killed anyone, draining energy wasn't fatal. It was clear this girl thought of her as some kind of horrific criminal, which was amusing more than anything. She opened her mouth to throw a few more verbal punches, when she saw the girl stoop to pick something off the ground. Surely she wasn't going to -
While her head refused to accept that the girl would dare to throw bricks at her, her body accepted the idea and forced her to jump to the side as the piece of masonry nearly clipped her on the ear. Smarting with anger, she landed rather unsteadily a step or two away from her original position, and jumped down at the other girl, one high heeled foot aimed directly at the senshis face, intending on teaching her a few manners that she was clearly lacking.
