Sailor Maenalus didn't know how long she had been running away from the grounds of the big battle on prom night, but she was now winded and sweating. That was probably most likely because of the sailor scout she was still carrying on her back. The girl had clambered up her back during the fight and tried to slap some people while using her headband as a tool to steer Maenalus, but all in all she seemed like a nice, fun girl.

But her leg was killing her where she'd been hit with a brick and she was still bleeding from cuts caused by Twitter birds, so she stopped under a street light. Panting, she looked over her shoulder and smiled, "Hey, uh, would you mind getting off of my back now?"
Maenalus knew that as soon as she did, it'd be likely that she'd keel over into the grass and just take a break. But deep down she knew that if she did, then she'd probably end up there for the night. She was hard to rouse from sleep if she'd drank the night before, and she didn't want to think of business people on their way to work finding her all henshined up in skimpy clothes in the morning. That would be quite the sticky situation.

Compared to Maenalus, Circe was in great condition. She had sustained minimal damage; mostly only a small cut and bruised from various Negaverse agents. The twitter birds hadn’t even touched her. She wasn’t sweating or over worked, caring a large burden. Instead she clung to Maeanalus’s shoulders, holding on tightly but enjoying the ride. The redhead smiled as she felt the cool breeze against her face. Maenalus wasn’t that comfortable, but Circe was intoxicated and even if she wasn’t she still would have enjoyed the ride. Her eyes were shut; she could almost fall asleep.

Maenalus’s words roused her. “Oh, home already?” Silly Circe, Maenalus was not a taxi or a rickshaw! One amber eye opened, surveying the landscape. It wasn’t home. She wasn’t even very sure of where they were. Slowly, she slid off of the other senshi’s back. When her feet touched the ground, the teal senshi fell into the grass and spread out in it, making grass angels. It wasn’t home, but the grass was cool and felt nice.

Turning her head, Circe glanced at Maenalus. “Ah, not home. But I suppose this is better than back there.” There being the now destroyed block where the Biebs rampaged. Back there, where her father’s car was laying upside down and ruined.

Maenalus watched her passenger flop to the ground, and with the weight lifted from her shoulders, she wobbled, then gave into the urge to join her. With one mighty sigh, she flopped into the grass face-first and heaved another mighty breath, pushing the grass away and giving it force enough to smack her in the face when it sprung back. But that was okay. It felt so good to be lying down. Her eyelids drooped until she jerked herself awake and sat up. No sleeping! Under any circumstances! Her shoulders sagged, however.

She nodded to what Circe said about the current location being superior to the battle scene, but home would still have been nicer. Her head felt so... heavy. She just wanted to go home now, but she couldn't leave her new comrade behind in the grass now, could she?

"Hi! I'm Sailor Maenalus, Senshi of Mountains. Where's your home, anyway? Mine's over there." She pointed in the vague direction of the Shlip dorms. Alcohol tended to give her the enthusiasm level of a seven year-old. Bed sounded good, but then again, it was prom night. Shouldn't there be awesome parties going on? She could power down and be ready to go in an instant! Save for the cuts and scrapes. Come morning time, that's how she would dismiss them to her friends. 'Just your stereotypical, crazy prom night, you guys.'

“Sailor Circe, of metamorphosis.” Circe grinned. Mountains, that was appropriate for her sturdy stead. Though horses might have been better. Where was a senshi of horses or taxi cabs when you wanted one?

The redhead glanced over to where Maenalus had pointed. “Oh. There.” There was a mild tone of boredom in her voice. “I used to live over there. Dorms, tragic really.” Morgan had lived in the Shlip dormitory during her first year at school. Starting in her 2nd year, she opted to move out into the University district. The apartments were quaint and cute in that area, but the larger attraction was the vibrant youth scene. Her own apartment was what Circe referred to as ‘architecturally charming’: an old and relatively small two bedroom, but it had exposed brick walls and old beat up wood floors.

“I live…” She had to pause to think about it. Looking around for a familiar sight, she finally pointed in a direction that she figured was right. “That way? Near the university. “ There was a mild tone of uncertainty in Circe’s voice. Alcohol didn’t always give her the best sense of direction. And either way, her home seemed like it was so far.

Circe used to live in the Shlip dorms? Maybe they knew each other in their civilian lives! Or it was also possible that Circe was a few years ahead of her and they didn't know each other. This year her parents had paid extra for a solo room, not a big surprise having come from Crystal for high school, but she'd thought about having a roommate. Or an apartment. Her line of sight followed Circe's finger.

"Oohhh, in an apartment?"

The apartments were over there, right? Maenalus let out a big breath that passed through her lips with a 'pbbbbtt' that also moved her bangs. She curled up into a ball, giving into her sleepiness, but with eyes still bright, she sighed and asked,

"Circe, how long have you been doing this senshi thing? I'm new at it. I don't think I'm very good. Actually. I don't know if I am or aren't. I'd never fought a negaverse agent before tonight. And this one time. I forgot my henshin pen. Guhhh, Cirrrceee, I'm the worst senshi ever!"

Maenalus turned her face into the grass and tried to make herself as small as possible. Seven year-old Maenalus had now become self-conscious, insecure Maenalus.

Circe’s head started to feel like it was floating. She clapped a hand to her head, fingers wrapped into her hair, to prevent it from flopping to the side. An apartment? What a silly question! “Of course an apartment. I’d never live in those dorms again! Over priced and not nearly enough space. No, I have a two bedroom all to myself now.”

It did not occur to Circe to ask the same question of Maenalus. Her amber eyes floated towards the sky, getting lost in the few stars she could see. Until a sharp whine broke her dazed focus, or unfocus really. Shifting her gaze to brunette, Circe extended a hand and patted her back. Poor thing, she couldn’t really relate to the feeling of being the worst ever though (she was Circe! she was the best!). Maenalus was her steed though, and even good stallions needed to be reassured once in while.

“A little while. I suppose not much long than you though. Being good is all about confidence. Say you are the best, and you will be. I am great, I know so. No argument about it. “

At the pat, Maenalus looked up at Circe through her fingers and much hair that had fallen into her face. She tried unsuccessfully to blow it out of her face, but had to resort to pushing it messily around with her hands. Good enough. Her eyes were shiny with tears. "Bu-but Ci-Cuh-Ciirrceee. I already have to be the best at so much stuff alreadyyyy." As Griffin, she had a lot of pressure put on her in and outside of school, though most of that was put on her by herself. The senshi thing was just another duty on top of a mountain of responsibility.

Wiping and then rubbing her eyes furiously, Maenalus tried to rid herself of any and all tears. Taking in a deep breath, she was now filled with resolve.

"I'm gonna be the very best!"

She sat up straight now and with her shoulders back and head held high.... didn't know what to do. She slumped again and in her little-kid voice, "But hoooww do I do that?" She pouted and pulled out the grass that she'd been hanging on to for dear life. She wanted answers and she wanted them now. So what if it was unreasonable for her to expect them of a senshi who was just a little more experienced than she was?! Now the angry god of a small village, Maenalus continued to pull the grass out around her until she was satisfied with the difference in height and its similarity to a crop circle. How fulfilling.

Balancing her school work and senshi life was not exactly much of an issue for Circe. She was not the kind of senshi who powered up and patrolled all the time. She did not care much about finding a princess or balancing good and evil. Power is what appealed to her, and for the teal-suited senshi, knowing she had power was often good enough. Protecting innocent civilians from harm instead of doing her own homework, or better yet something fun? Eeeeeeh. She could take it or leave it. Still, Circe was convinced it didn’t matter, and that when she chose to fight, she was the best (even when she wasn’t).

The redhead scooted her butt over closer to Maenalus. Draping one black gloved hand over the other girl’s eyes, she whispered in her ear. “ Close your eyes. Relax. Breathe in. Breathe out. ”

Maenalus froze when her eyes were covered. It was just about the same effect as covering an animal's eyes. She took in a couple of deep breaths and then just flopped onto her back in a manner similar to a fish. "Inner peace... Inner peace... Inner peace and kicking youma butt..." She sighed and with her eyes still closed, realized that she was calmer than before.

Through a combined effort tonight, senshi had come together and beaten up one hell of a huge youma and its nega body guards. Good would triumph! The world's order would be restored! And she would help! Not that big of a deal, right? Well, as long as she didn't think back to her individual battles and one-on-ones with youma. Eh, that's just the learning curve. Nowhere to go but up.

She opened an eye and pointed a finger awfully close to Circe's face. "No, you breathe in and out." She sat up again (why couldn't she stay still!?) and now excited, said, "Circe! I just had a great idea! We should go patrolling together! I can learn from you and it's much easier to beat up youma when you're not alone! I mean, we don't have to patrol every time together or every night, but we should!"

Briefly, Circe was taken aback by the abrupt shout and finger in her face. Though her nerves were quickly calmed when Maenalus suggested they buddy-up rather than something spiteful. Learn from her? In reality, that would be almost like the blind leading the blind. Neither had been doing this senshi business for very long. But being barely more experienced was something that Circe would never admit to. There was someone right in front of her, willing to be molded and shaped in her image! Be her … side kick! Yes, in her mind, definitely a side kick. She was Loner Ranger and Maenalus was her trusty steed. That was too tempting to resist.

Circe smiled wide. “That, is a fantastic idea. There’s safety in numbers after all.” The more power around, the better. Though Circe yawned, the alcohol was getting to her. Her amber eyes were starting to tear up. “I’m tired, Maenie. Take me home! It’s soooo faaaaar.”

Of course it was a fantastic idea, Maenalus was the smartest ever, wasn't she? Home was a great idea on Circe's part, however. She sleepily tilted her head. "Home? My home? Yours? OH. CIRCE." She waved her hands excitedly. "LET'S HAVE A SLEEP OVER IN MY DORM ROOM." She didn't think ahead to the morning to if she or Circe powered down and found out each other's civilian identities. She didn't really care. She and Circe were BSFLs, right? Best Senshi Friends Forever, that is, and when they powered down, they could be Best Civilian Friends Forever too, right? She just wouldn't tell Talia.

She stood and offered her hand to Circe and put the senshi on her back and set off in the direction of the Shlip dorms, hoping that they wouldn't run into anyone, and oblivious to her new roll as a trusty steed. Slowly on their way, the two senshi rode off into the night to go sleep off their drunkenness.
