It was a long night, a really -LONG- and tiresome night. She was more mentally than physically exhausted but there were hints here and there of something being 'wrong' if they knew the girl at all. She had orders to be done, orders that were followed but not completed... but apparently to her general queen that had no mattered. In the end, the orders were a lessen to her. A lessen that she needed to see with her own eyes. Up to that point, the senshi had not attacked her but instead chose to talk or run from her. She had not truly seen why they were such a threat, why she was needed in the dark kingdom to protect.

Now she knew why.

And the one woman everyone warned her about... someone she was ordered to kill, was someone whom had almost killed HER in turn. She was weak, not remembering things and not remembering how to fight. Her body was lean and fit, like she knew what to do instinctivly... but it was not enough. It was never enough.

Ares would have killed her.

Someone whom apparently used to be her old leader... an important senshi leader, she was strong. Was Lyra like that when she was on the white moon side? Was she such a person that she would have killed a old comrade just like that? Had she really told Ares to kill her if this happened? It was too much to think about. Tanzanite had talked with her, told her it was ok...been comforting, understanding. Something she did not feel she deserved. Lyra did not want Sympathy though, she wanted to rise to the challenge... Meet it dead on.

The purple haired youma queen had dropped the redhead off near Evers house at her request, powering down a few blocks away to not give any one close by with an aura sensor an idea where one of the dark kingdom might call home. She soon would have her own place in a dorm room to call home, but for the moment this place was home. Plus, she really needed to talk to someone. Reaching the door Sabine lifted a hand and knocked softly. She knew she was late(without telling him where she was) and she knew she forgot her key. "Ever? ...Its me."

Ever should have been sitting and stressing out about Sabine -- he should have been obsessing over her absence, worrying about the trouble she could be getting into and the dangers of adventuring alone into the city. Unfortunately, his sense of concern was tempered with a goodly dose of 'don't smother', and hes protective edge weaned by Zac's over protective attitude.

It wasn't that he hadn't noticed. Obviously he'd known she was missing. It was just -- well -- there were all kinds of things she could be doing, and certainly she wouldn't have been dumb enough to go out in uniform. Teenaged girls were a mystery to him, what they did with their spare time a complete unknown. When he'd come home to find her out, he'd assumed getting dinner or seeing a movie or even, perhaps, that she'd adventured out to do things with Zac.

The knock, though, and the edge behind her voice, set something stirring in the pit of his stomach, twisting uncomfortably. A moment before he opened the door, in pajama bottoms and his hair rumpled, book tossed carelessly across his bed. One good look at her face and that lead weight settled, making him swallow uncomfortably. Something wrong..

"Uh. It's kinda late..." He didn't sound certain, though. What was he supposed to do, here?

"I know.... im sorry i forgot my key." It was said in a small voice, her eyes avoiding direct contact with his own. Being small had its uses, she ducked under him and moved into the room with a slow grace. If he looked, he might see a smear of dirt on her face. It was the one place she didnt exactly think to look for it, not looking in a mirror.

Turning around, her eyes seemed distant. "Im sorry for being late, you didn't wait up for me did you?" She noticed the book on the bed. Ever was a night owl usually but out of habit she asked anyways.

"...uh." Ever looked toward the bed as well, following the line of her eyes, and considered how to answer that. No, he hadn't been waiting up, but it wouldn't be terribly for her to think he had. His final solution was a shrug that she could interpret either way, absent, dismissive. Maybe it was a 'no', or maybe it was a 'yeah, but don't worry about it'. If she wanted to think he'd been worried, holding up...

Actually, he was worried now, so that wasn't too off base.

"You okay?" He shifted just a little, closing the door and flicking the deadbolt home before fingers slid up into the back of his hair. "Where were you?"

She did take it as he waited for her, which made her in turn feel bad... but also made her smile slightly. Even if it was not true, she thought it was. So that made it all the better. She felt bad for making him worry, but that he did worry made her feel.... wanted?

"I....I had orders. I went out to follow them." She made a move to sit down, choosing the corner of the bed being as it was the only 'chair' they had in the apartment.

"Im sorry for not telling you, but i was ordered to go alone and....well. I had a feeling if i told anyone... you'd follow?" A nervous laugh, she fiddled with the hem of the skirt she was wearing awkwardly.

Okay, yes; escalated worry, his expression going quieter, serious. Shut down. Usually he was an open book, but worry made him go quiet and his mouth smaller. Not grinning at her, now.

"...follow you where, exactly? And orders from...?" It was leading, careful. Ever didn't follow her, didn't move to settle beside her and play reassuring friend. Instead he leaned back against the door, arms folded over his chest. Closed-off posture that also blocked the door, as if that would keep her from leaving.

Unless she powered up, it actually would.

"Tanzanite." It was a quick reply, her eyes now looking towards the floor. He was angry. She might be a bit slow on the pick up... but she was not stupid. Body language said it all, and his face expression she watched out of the corner of her eye had not said 'happy' at all.

"Tanzanite ordered me to go and well... do my job." Clearly she had a hunch what this job was, she was to fight senshi power WITH senshi power. She and Ares were the same power rank, so it made sense to send Lyra out.

"She ordered me to go kill a senshi." She muttered in a soft tone, whispering almost. Not sure if he would even hear her.

That made him hesitate, the start of a reply on the tip of his tongue, shoulders shifting uncertainly against the solid bulk of the door behind him. Tanzanite had made an impression on him, certainly. If nothing else, she'd made enough of one to melt away anger and turn it toward something frustrated and confused, his arms unfolding and fingers scraped nervously through his hair. She certainly wouldn't have done it without a purpose, she probably wouldn't have done it without though, but she may have done it entirely without empathy.

When he finally did speak, it came out more gentle, careful, trying not to sound accusing. He didn't want his a** handed to him for stirring up the ranks, but surely he could make them question.

"It's your job to kill senshi, now?" Doubt. There was definitely doubt there. It sounded wrong to him.

"Fight senshi power with senshi power..." She whispered, noticing the change in the way he held himself but she was still afraid of tacking a nerve. So she chose to stay submissive, quiet. Even though she might hold more power than Ever within her for now... he was still higher in the ranks than she, so she had every duty to report to him what had happened.

Squaring her shoulders, she flicked her eyes up.

"Tanzanite ordered me to go after Eternal Sailor Ares."

His hand was still buried up in the mess of his hair -- too long, now, he was going to have to take a pair of scissors to it soon. Or maybe get Sabine to do it. Maybe she'd like that. Ever drew in a deep breath and shook his head, biting down on more dissenting comments, thinking about the shudder of strange door under his palms...

"...why?" That wasn't too bad, right? Straight-forward, still tinged with something like distrust, somewhat uncomfortable, but not outright accusatory. He met her eyes.

When there eyes met, she held them for a moment in silence. Not saying a word... no real expression on her face. After that brief pause, her eyes flicked down. It was a clear show of who was the dominant person in this room, even if she was not aware what her body language said.

"Tanzanite ordered me to fight ares.... and go alone." Biting her lip she tucked her legs against her body and wrapped her pale arms around them. "Apparently it was a lesson, a lesson that i took two ways. A: i am weak. Ares almost killed -ME-. She stood over me with a metal pipe. Apparently she was my old leader... my old mentor. My leader tried to kill me, was i like that too? Ever?" The ending was pleading a bit....

"Tanzanite stepped in at the last moment...watching the whole time. She did it to show me the true side of the white moon count..."
PostPosted: Mon May 30, 2011 10:24 am

******** up thing to do to someone, and it made his stomach churn. He'd definitely respected Tanzanite to a degree when he met her, but that just seemed -- well, it lacked an edge of humanity. Not that that should be a surprise, really...

"Is she going to...pull that s**t again?" He skipped over the question of if Lyra'd been that way or not. He remembered her in the BMC, trying to take them all out, but -- he also remembered her before that, at their first meeting, trussed up like a Christmas ham. Not so much of a danger, then.

"I mean, was this a one-time thing, or is she likely to yank...damnit, just tell me next time, okay?" Ever shook his head, sharply.

"I dont know. I honestly dont know." She shook her head, rocking back and forth a little. "The lesson was well delivered... but i think she was also testing -me- too.. i dunno something about the way it was delivered to me. I think she was also proving i COULD do it.. you know?"

She winced at the cursing, still waning on the edge of anger maybe? She didnt blame him. "I just... i knew you'd follow if i told you. I was told i had to do it alone... im sorry."
PostPosted: Mon May 30, 2011 10:34 am

"I would have followed you, and Zac too." And, as far as Ever was concerned, that wasn't a problem. He shook his head a little, closing his eyes and thinking about it.

"So tell us next time anyway, and we can just...hang back. In case next time Tanzanite decides she's not going to step in and rescue you at the last minute." An idea which made his stomach churn, which probably shouldn't actually have been voiced but -- but. He had to. Even if it was arguably rebellion, mutiny.

"I can be discreet." Not that he sounded certain about that. He shook his head. "Follow out of uniform, break it up that way maybe."

"I just didn't want to see you both hurt. I wasn't really thinking about you following out of uniform... i was only thinking how the aura's would have been sensed." Ever brought up a good point, she had not thought of that. "But if you somehow were included while out of uniform you could have been majorly damaged. I don't know if Ares would include innocent bystanders into her game."

"Ares did not hurt me... a little choked up from her smoke attack, which by the way sucks, and i think a bruise on my back from where she tossed me....but im ok. I got a scratch in on her too so.." Ares still would have won if Tanzanite had not been there, though. That part she wouldn't deny. That pipe would have been the checkmate.

"....i was scared."
