"Ahhh." He let out a long, tired sigh and flopped down by a tree. It was a relatively pleasant day; the midday sun was shining in a cloudless sky, but there was still a slight breeze to keep things cool. Normally, Caim would be napping on a fine day like this. He probably would have laid down under a tree hours ago and dozed off without a care in the world if he were still back at home with Eifa. He probably would have slept until she woke him up for lunch or maybe even dinner.

But not in a place like this. There was no way in hell that he'd let down his guard and just go to sleep out in the open when there was no one there to watch his back.

...Even though he really wanted to.

Of course, the last time that Caim had decided to just kick back and relax under a tree, he had gotten into a fight with some brat. Thinking back on the incident, he got up into a sitting position and leaned against the tree's trunk, curiously looking up into the leaves above him. After a few blinks and sniffs, he figured that there wasn't anyone up there and instead turned his attention to the other patients milling around the court yard. Although it seemed like most of the others in the Asylum were human (or at least they appeared human), he was actually quite surprised at the amount of people that were... more like him. It was certainly something a little foreign to the Arcanine, and he found himself wondering if his Ninetales partner had bumped into any of these other non-humans yet.

Stretching out one leg comfortably, Caim let out a quiet yawn and felt himself relax a bit as another cool breeze ruffled at his hair. Thinking back on the past week or two (he never was good at keeping track of time; that was Eifa's job), he couldn't help but realize that he was actually it an okay mood today. Maybe it was because his poor nose wasn't being assaulted by the wretched stench of old blood and mold or maybe it was because he had managed to steal a relatively fresh apple from someone earlier this morning? Either way, his decent mood was slowly dissipating the more his mind lingered on the thought of finding his partner.
Where the hell could she be?

User ImageFreya had been sitting in a patch of sun in the courtyard, enjoying its warmth and the fresh air as she used a rag to polish her armor. She took pleasure in the task, finding the repetitive motion relaxing rather than tedious. Even though, at this point, her armor looked almost exactly as it had when she first gotten it after all the polishing she had been doing as of late. There was a sore lack of use for it, and little else for her to be doing in this place; it was starting to get to the point where she worried she would wear it so thin with her incessant polishing that it would become ineffective.

But it was still something with which to occupy her hands while her mind wandered, and so she let herself enjoy it. She had been been enjoying the quiet, too, having been peacefully alone - at least, until someone else had walked outside.

Freya's ears perked and she looked over at Caim, watching him with interest as he sat down beneath a nearby tree. She could see orange ears poking out from his blonde hair - another non-human like her, it seemed. She was sitting behind and a little off to the side of the tree he was sitting under, out of his immediate line of vision, so he hadn't seen her yet, and she considered briefly just continuing to mind her own business. He looked like he was enjoying the quiet too. But that wasn't very exciting, now was it? Besides, she was getting tired of keeping to herself.

A mischievous smile touching her lips, Freya pulled her plated glove back on and rose to her feet, sauntering over to where Caim sat with surprising stealth, considering the sheer amount of metal she was covered in.

"Nice weather," she commented conversationally, leaning on the tree next to Caim and peering up through the branches with one hand on her hip.

Caim ran a hand through his messy blond hair and let out a low and annoyed growl. The more he thought about his partner, the worse he felt. There was the gnawing feeling of guilt in the pit of his stomach - he was supposed to take care of her, what hell happened? Then there was the twinge of anger - if it weren't for those traitorous humans, the two of them wouldn't have ended up in the Asylum. However, between those two emotions was worry. He couldn't help but fret over the idea of his beloved childhood friend getting in trouble with the infamous doctors or.... or getting felt up by one of the creepier patients! The very thought in itself made Caim's blood boil.

Despite his bubbling anger, Caim managed to resist the urge to kick down the tree that he was sitting under. Instead, he let a feeling of shame take over the anger. His Eifa could take care of herself. The simple thought allowed for Caim to forget about his negative feelings and he felt his body relax once again. Reaching up to scratch at one of his orange ears briefly, Caim tilted his head back against the tree and closed his eyes for a moment. Damn, he wanted to take a nap even more now.

He let out a sharp breath of air and tensed up as his ears picked up the sound of someone approaching him rather quickly. He clenched his hand into a fist and prepared himself to roll away in case the person decided to attack him. Normally, he would have jumped to his feet by now, but somewhere in the back of his mind, Caim was hoping it was just some patient exercising or... playing tag or something. Of course, he wasn't about to let his guard down either. Then again, Caim wasn't exactly in the mood to fight (he just wanted to relax dammit!), but hell, if someone had a bone to pick with him... well, he wasn't planning on running away with his tail between his legs. Like hell that would ever happen.

His eyes snapped open at the sound of a female's voice.
Well, that wasn't expected... Turning his head to look over at the person that had just addressed him, Caim found himself staring at leg. Lots and lots of leg. Or at least lots of leg covered in lots of metal. Without even thinking, he quickly answered the girl,"Hot."

Turning up to look at her face, Caim was amazed to see that she had on even more metal. In fact, it seemed like everything about the girl was out of the ordinary. From her smooth armor to the lovely view of her midriff to her fiery hair and her not-so-human features... well, his interest had certainly been piqued. Feeling the corner of his lips pull up into a small smirk, Caim let out a small chuckle.

"But it just got a whole lot hotter."

Hearing the other patient speak, Freya looked back down at him, an amused smile on her lips. Ah. So he was one of those types. Well, that was fine; comments like that didn't fluster her. Considering the fact that her armor left a lot of skin exposed, this wasn't the first time anyone had started hitting on her right off the bat. In fact, it seemed to be a bit of a creeper magnet at times.

But she wasn't going to shut him down either. Not yet, at least - not until she had a reason to.

"Well, aren't you charming," she commented, laughing a little herself. "I bet you're quite a hit with the ladies." Pushing off from the tree, Freya shifted her weight to her other foot, the arm that she had been using to lean against the tree coming to rest on her other hip as she took a closer look at the man in front of her. Now that he was facing her, she could tell that he was definitely not human; not completely. It wasn't just the ears that gave him away - there were his eyes too, a sort of gold that wasn't in the normal spectrum for humans, and she could see an elongated canine poking out of the corner of his mouth as he smirked. There was something overal feral about him. She arched one eyebrow. Interesting.

"So what brings you out here, handsome? I hope I'm not interrupting anything."

His grin only widened as he perked his ears up, taking in her words. Judging from her reaction, the girl seemed like she would be a... fun one. Caim stole another glance at at her legs before standing up and taking a moment to quickly dust himself off of any stray blades of grass. His sharp eyes flickered over the girl as he took in her appearance. To see someone decked out in armor was certainly a little new to Caim.

He quickly recalled the time that him and Eifa had a job in the city and their client happened to be the owner of some massive arcade store or something of the sort. The two of them were allowed to play games (because somehow that was their "generous reward" - needless to say, the two of them had fun destroying every single machine later that night as payback) and he had seen a few female characters that were in metal armor that just barely managed to cover them. That's right. The girl standing before him looked a bit like she had hopped straight out of one of those arcade machines. Except maybe a little more realistic...

"Oooh. Somebody's pretty sharp," he jokingly tapped a finger against the corner of his eye and then pointed to her magenta ones. His eyes wandered from her sharp arm guard up to the little horn poking out through her brightly colored bangs. Caim found himself particularly attracted to her wild hair. He had always had a thing for long hair on women, but this girl's hair was just downright fascinating. It almost looked as if it were... on fire which made him want to touch it even more.

Caim hooked his thumb into his belt loop and motioned vaguely with the other hand as he spoke,
"Ahhh, you know... just enjoying what little scenery this place has got to offer and don't worry; you're not interruptin' anything, babe. If anything, I'd say that you just brightened up this place... literally."
