 "Oh cher, que fais-je? Zere are zo many new phonies but I 'ave no new customerz," a blonde phony signed in the local cafe. Unlike other phonies this one had a half human top. Bon Appetit used this form when she was cooking. At the moment she had several sweet ingredients set out on a table infront of her. "Ah I need to come wiz ze new rezipe. But what? What do I make?" she sighed and poked a few cherries with a finger. Her bakery had done so well in the last couple of weeks but her cafe was suffering. She needed a new idea to bring in more customers!

 Babby Waddle was happy. Beyond happy, he had just broken out of his blister pack, and today was an ADVENTURE! He left the stables and trotted (read: wiggled) into Phony City to explore. He just couldn't control himselves like the other graceful phonies, bounding and trotting about, but he didn't mind. Today was for FUN. What new sights, smells and phonies awaited him??? He loved his warm comfy stall in the stable, but he was very excited at the potential of meeting a phony that would become his new friend.
My new friend! he thought, as he stopped on the sidewalk, taking a deep breath of air. And maybe, maybe my friend will play with me. He had seen other phonies doing what his owner called "playing" outside the stables, but he didn't know any of them, or what playing was. But it looked more FUN than rolling on the ground after his owner had just brushed his mane! He wiggled on down the sidewalk, excited to meet someone new.

"Ah pear'aps ze breath of fresh air weel 'elp," she sighed and walked outside her shop. She looked around at all the other phonies and felt a little out of place in this form. She stood on two hooves instead of four and hand lovely long arms and fingers. Her mane had turned into a full head of golden hair. She only knew of one other phony that could look like this, in fact she scared some phonies with this look. Suddenly she noticed a small baby trotting about, he didn't look like he had an adult with him. That wouldn't do!
"M'excuser petit l'un. What are you doeng out wiz out ze adult? Iz dangerous no? Come en side," she smiled her most friendly smile and motioned the colt into her cafe.

He heard the heavily accented voice, speaking in a way he had never heard. When he looked towards its source, he only saw two hooves. Confused, he looked up....and up....and more up....and even MORE up...to...a person's face? But a phony's legs?
Babby Waddle crouched, slightly scared of this...creature. He cocked his head at her invitation to go inside. Standing his location, he reached his head forward, stretching his neck and slowly sniffed her hooves. Definitely phony. He pulled his head back, glanced up at her again, then stretched his head forward again and sniffed her fingers. Odd...but this is phony too?
He crouched again, inspected her cutie mark and her face again, then skooched to the side to see what was in there.
"Um, hi," he said, hoofing the ground lightly. He resolved to make this phony his Very First Friend. "Hi! I'm Babby Waddle. Today is my first day in Phony City. Who're you? What's this place? What do you do?"

She blinked as the small one sniffed at her. That was a little unusual, but she'd let him. He seemed so young, hardly old enough to be out here by himself. She wanted to keep him safe until she knew where he belonged or at least until Scent Puff came back from her trip to the fields. She could take care of this better. Ah poor Bon Bon, she was always so shy and reserved. She sighed a bit, realizing as usual her appearance was disconcerting. She crouched down a little to be more on his level.
"Do non be ahfraid mon petit. I will non 'urt you. My name ez Bon Appetit. And I run zes bakery," she motioned her hand towards the cafe which was brightly lit and filled with the most delicious smells. "Ceurently I am tryeng to make ze new dish but, ah, non idea come to me. But you are too zmall to be out 'ere by yourzelf. Come in. My sester will be by zoon and she can taken you 'ome."
She did her best to get him into the cafe and into a seat which were all built for phonies. She brought out a lovely piece of cake and some hot chocolate for him to munch on. "Zis ez your first time in ze city? Mon dou! You could 'ave gotten lost ma petit! You should always 'ave ze grown up wiz you."

Babby Waddle allowed himself to be herded into the store. Wonderful scents floated through the air and his tummy grumbled a little.
"Hi Bon Appetite, this is a nice place. It smells good in here." He followed her in and hauched where she directed him. "What are you trying to make? Why are you trying to make something new? Who is your sister? What does she do?" The inquisitive small one swiveled his head around, trying to see everything at once. "I just got out of my blister pack the other day, this is my first time out in Pony City!"
"Oooh cake!" He took a chomp out of the cake. "Ourf, ah, I mearn, tank yoo," he said around a mouthful of cake and crumbs before swallowing. "This is good. What made you want to run a bakery? Do you make up new recipes and stuff all the time? Do you like food? Food is good."
Babby Waddle stopped talking for a moment and looked around. "Actually...I don't know where I am. But, that's okay. You'll be my friend, right? So...where am I?"

Her little horse ears wiggled in her hair a bit as Babby began his barrage. She giggled a bit at the young one for all his questions. He really was so young, they were always the most curious. She tried to answer all of them so he wouldn't feel as if she wasn't listening to him.
"Well, first zank you for your complemint. And oui, I am tryeng to make ze new food to zerve wiz ze coffe and 'ot chocolate. My sestear is Scent Puff, she runs ze perfume shop next to mine. She makes ze good zmelleng liquid," she smiled softly as he took a breath then ate. She was concerned about the young one wandering about freshly out of his pack. She rememebered coming out of hers, but sticking close to Scent Puff most of the time. She laughed a bit at his talking around his food, taking a napkin and wiping his mouth for him.
"Zere we go. All clean now. Hmm? What made me want to run ze bakairy? Well," she put a finger to her chin, "I 'ave always liked ze food. And I knew 'ow to make ze tastey snack. So I decided to make ze food 'ere. Then I discovered...well....," she looked down at her arms and torso, "zat I could change and bake even bettear!"
She had been scared the first time she had transformed, thinking something was wrong. But it was explained it was a side effect of something she had gotten into when searching for new ingridents. She had done nothing wrong and several had complimented her appearance. She smiled down at the little one, "Oui, I will be your friend. You are 'here in my shop, Café Délicieux."

Babby listened closely to Bon Appetite as he let her wipe his muzzle. This time he returned to the cake slowly, and lapped at the hot chocolate between bites. She was a nice lady. He hoped all his new phony friends would feed him delicious cake like Bonbon.
"You talk kind of funny. But that's okay, it's pretty. I like the way you talk. And I like you too! Thanks for being my new friend." Only been out of the stables for not even an hour and already he had his Very First Friend! Babby Waddle was so pleased with himself. He wiggled in his chair.
"So, you're trying to come up with something new to make for your Cafey day...dey...dia....erm....shop?" The inquisitive phony finished his cake and licked the plate, trying to get every last crumb he could. "The cake was quite delicious. What else could you want to do?"

Bon giggled a bit. Most babbies thought she talked funny. Yay for encoding a french accent into her genes! Or whatever it was that made her speak like this.
"Well I like you too leetell one," she gave him a kiss on the forhead before going back behind the counter to continue trying new ideas, at least on paper for now.
"Oui, I like to 'ave many rezipees to 'ave at ze deefairant times of ze year. Like ze next 'oleday, ze day of the ze lovear," she blushed a bit. Valentine's Day would be fast approaching and she had no special phony to spend it with. She wondered what she would do. She smiled as he finished his cake and collected his dishes to wash later.
"Well I could show you around ze area zo you do non geet lost," she looked to the small one.

Waddle's pink cheeks turned even pinker with Bon's smooch. "A-aw, yay...I am so happy you're my New Friend, Bonbon! Can-can I call you Bonbon?"
He swung his hind legs back and forth as he listened to her. His eyes brightened at the mention of the chocolatey holiday he had heard so much about. "Oooh, ooh, Valentine's day!!! I heard about that, someone read a story to me about it once. It sounds fun, and yummy!" He wanted to do something for Bonbon, because she'd been nothing but kind to her since he bumped into her. He chewed on his lip for a moment, pondering it. Chocolate....bakery......chocolate..........bakery.....
"Oh, hey! Hey hey! Did you think maybe of doing like, like a, a, one of those cupcake things! Yeah, cupcakes, in the shape of hearts, with chocolate melty centers!" He bounced in excitement at the idea. "Do you do cupcakes much at all? I imagine cupcakes are delicious!!! They look so cute and small, but I hear people do craaaazy things with them on the inside!" Waddle nodded vigorously.

"Oui, of coarse you may. Mozt of my famelee callz me zat," she chuckled. She always earned that nickname no matter who she ran into.
She listend to the small one as his mind began to whirl. She loved Valentine's Day too because she sold the most chocolate then. But her eyes brightened at the idea of the cupcakes the young colt was speaking of. She could see it now!
"Fantasique! Waddell you are ze geniyus! I make ze bezt cupcakes evear! And ze chocolate center cupcake I weel make! And you weel be ze first won to try eet!" she chuckled.

"HURRAY!" Waddle exploded with excitement. He jumped and bounced around the little cafe table and his new friend, thrilled to have found a way to help the kind Phony. At mention of his chance to try them first he stopped, reared onto his back legs and placed his front hoofs on her leg. His mouth and eyes gaped wide in pure ecstasy as he gasped.
"Really?! Bonbon you're the best!!!!" He clung to her leg for a moment, then ran to the front door of the shop. "So, so, so you're going to show me around, right?! Let's go!"

Bon Bon laughed as the phony danced around her. She was glad the small one was made so happy by being given first tastes. She might have herself a professional taste tester with this one. She hugged him back tightly before he ran to the door. She smiled and stood, changing into her phony form rather than the human bits.
"Oui, let me zhow you my familee's zhopz an ze boutique!" she laughed as she lead the colt out to show off the local stores.
