The Libra waited patiently in quiet contentment in her burrow in the Flyterion Glades. It had been hot and sunny that morning, but now that it was night, the temperature had dropped. She thought it was cool enough now to warrant making hot tea. The green tea was steeping now and filling her home with its warm smell.
She had invited Orchid over earlier and was waiting for her to come. She had just met her, but she fancied herself the polite type and she thought, What's more polite than inviting someone over to tea?
The Libra eyed the tea pot on the table. She couldn't wait for it to finish. She knew it'd take a couple more minutes.
Next to the tea pot, there were four silver trays full of sweets. Two had tea cookies with different fillings - loukum and date. Another had bite-sized vanilla sponge cakes filled with lemon curd and frosted with cream cheese. Still another had chocolate truffles filled with caramel.
She figured it'd be okay to take some now, even though her guest wasn't over yet, so long as she didn't eat them. She just had to decide which one she wanted. She reached for the loukum tea cookie and suddenly stopped. "I should try this one. I've never had it before. Then again, I don't even know what loukum is. Maybe not?" Then, she went for the date tea cookie. "Ooh, I know this one is good! It's so rich and buttery and the filling's so sweet and delicious! ...but I just had one of these today." After that, it was the sponge cake. "Ooh! I love these! I remember sharing some with Zaff before..." Her voice trailed off and she locked eyes with the truffles. "But those look great too!"
"I-I-I just can't decide!" After that, she cast off what was left of her self-control, piled one of each on a plate next to her, and started waiting again.

Orchid had never really understood the "fashionably late" thing. If you were early, you looked overeager. If you were on time, you were responsible. If you happened to be late, well. That was disrespectful. She didn't want to keep her hostess waiting, but she couldn't arrive without a small thank you gift. She had very few friends, being the shy girl that she was, and she had been very surprised when the Spica had invited her over. What does she want with me? I hope this isn't a trap.
Orchid suspected that her hostess would have snacks and things, but perhaps she could use something pretty to decorate her place with? Not flowers, Orchid had decided. She didn't want it to seem like a date. At least, Orchid was pretty sure it wasn't a date... Perusing the isles of the little antique shop, Orchid finally selected something she was sure would make Libra smile.
After she tucked the little nicknack into a gift bag she'd brought along, Orchid continued up the lane to Libra's house. She hoped she had the address right. Knocking on a complete stranger's door would be completely embarrassing. Orchid felt her anxiety rising, and fought to keep her calm. The address is right, she assured herself. I went over it a dozen times. I don't have it wrong.
Orchid lifted her paw towards the knocker and paused once more, verifying in her mind that she was indeed at the right place, and hopefully on time. She knocked twice, politely, and waited.

The Libra's ears perked up when she heard the knocking. That must be her! It has to be her. Who else could it be at this hour? She thought her timing couldn't be much better, since the tea had finally finished steeping and was now cooling down enough to be comfortable to drink.
She ran and answered the door with a smile. "Good evening, Orchid! It's a pleasure seeing you again. Come on in!" After that, she headed inside and waiting for Orchid to follow her to their seats.
