Jada had spent a lot of the time she had been back in Destiny City working on realigning herself with her Court. The Blood Moon was in the middle of changes, and she wanted to be there for it. She needed to be. She supported her senshi 'family' and didn't like seeing the infighting. A popular opinion seemed to be that if everyone would just shut up and obey Ares, they'd be fine. The problem with that was that shutting up and listening to Ares had caused half of their 'army' to leave- and given them a terrible reputation even among those who were supposed to be their allies. Scylla loved her friend- maybe not loved as some of her allies did, but loved- and was driven to try and support Ares. On the other hand, she couldn't support everything that... well, that had been decided for them. She had made her stance known, and she knew without a doubt that her friend would see it in her black-and-white view as Scylla standing against her.
The other thing she'd spent a lot of time on? Getting in shape. When she'd been stabbed, the implement used had damaged her a little more than she'd thought at first. Nothing absolutely vital, not really, but if she hadn't had that lovely little layer of chocolate-love, she might not have been so well off. She used chocolate-love instead of fat, because... fat was such a negative word, when she worked out so much. Her senshi healing abilities were fantastic, downright impressive, and had been working out even better since she had, apparently, become the wielder of a rainbow crystal. Trying to unlock its abilities was something she had been spending a lot of time doing. Between the Court and her attempts at getting herself back up to speed on a personal level, it was a full time job!
On the other hand, Jada decided, looking at her bank ledger- she needed to get a real job. There were any number of job opportunities available in Destiny City. With people dying and going missing almost every day, that meant that many companies were looking for new staff members almost every day. The trick was finding them. Jada had been trying to spend more time getting her civilian life back on track. It was hard. Jada's balancing act was getting better. Multitasking: if Jada could tell people about half the stuff she was juggling, she would have no problem finding a job.
A major issue that she discovered as she was going over the job application was this: Jada had no real work history that she could put down. "Job... history." she repeated to herself for the, oh, fifteenth time that day? "Worked with Daddy. Volunteered at the local library. Hosted parties. Spent Daddy's money. Rode my pony. Saved local civilians from soul-sucking monsters." What didn't fit? As for references?
Nope, she didn't have any of those either. The name Anthony Darrow was written down in bright ink, but other than that, she didn't have any non-family members she'd technically worked for. Now, working for her? That would be another story entirely. Pushing off of the king-sized hotel bed, Jada moved through the small suite and picked up her key card and cell phone. Her fingers were brushed quickly through her hair and she fixed her top before slipping her feet into a pair of shoes and scooting out the door, job application in hand. She didn't take the elevator down, instead taking the stairs- better exercise.
At the front desk of the hotel, they knew her by now. That girl, who was staying there because she was friends with the owner and the manager. Brandon, the one Jada knew who worked the night shift, knew her better than the staff of the day shift. Mostly because when she came traipsing in at 3am, he was the one there. Still, when Jada went heading for the offices, no one stopped her.
Interestingly, a light was on in Elzo's office. He was almost never there, the hotel management being left in Marlo's capable hands. She paused, and decided she might as well hit up Elzo first. She knocked politely, and then pushed the door open, speaking before whoever was in the leather chair could even turn around. "Hey, Elzo, I need you to tell everyone I'm the best employee ever."

Jada was about to be grossly disappointed. Sitting behind the desk with socked feet propping her slim legs against the desk sat a bluenette that was staring rather openly at the intruder into the office. Elzo hadn't quite bothered to mention to Daphne that not only was Jada Chamberlyn back in Destiny City but she was very much present in his life. In his hotel! It wasn't the way she had wanted to run into her old friend.
Thankfully, composure came on swift wings and the surprise in Daphne's face could easily just have been taken for a strange woman walking into her husband's office. "Sorry, Elzo's out at the moment. I'm playing seat warmer until he gets back." Feet dropped to the floor so that the chair could swivel and allow the young woman to place her chin in her hands, smiling charmingly.
It was surprisingly easy to be at ease in the presence of her old friend despite everything that had happened. Perhaps it had been because once upon a time, Jada had been the easiest friend Audrey had ever made. A quick shopping trip and they had been sealed for eternity as great friends, or so she had anticipated at the time.
"Do you work for him? I'm assuming, since you want a resume. But if you're the best employee ever why would you be looking for a new job?" Curiosity killed the cat. Good thing she was human.

It wasn't a gross disappointment. If Jada had walked in on Elzo in his stocking feet, she might have died from the smell. O-ho-ho-ho-ho... Still, it was startling to see someone there. and for just a single moment, Jada felt the strangest sense of familiarity. Had she met this girl before? The other's blue hair brought about the feeling of missing- Audrey had been Jada's best friend, but apart from hair color, the two looked nothing alike. So why did meeting this woman make her nostalgic? As quickly as it came, the feeling was gone, wiped away to a negligible fact, whatever magic protected the senshi and the negaverse from discovery hard at work protecting Daphne Xanis. Jada recovered her surprise quickly, wishing she'd thought about this opportunity, and that she'd dressed up. As it was, the girl looked summer casual at best, in a pair of low-rise denim shorts and a white tee-shirt. (And some sandals by Prada. If Jada would ever give thought to selling the over-sized bag of shoes she'd brought home with her from Europe, she could probably rent a small apartment for a couple of months. Only a few pairs were under $500.00, retail.) "Who needs a seat warmer in this weather?" Jada's voice was teasing, and she moved into the office. "Hi, I'm Jada. You must be..." a strange looked crossed her face. She'd heard Elzo had gotten married, hadn't she? But that had been the rumor mill, nothing set in stone- and Elzo's relationship status wasn't something she would talk to Marlo about. "His girlfriend?" it came out a question. "Or has that changed recently?" She took a seat in the chair across the desk, crossing her ankles neatly. It wasn't the casual Jada in front of Audrey- it was the cautious Jada. She didn't know this girl, regardless of how at-home the bluenette's relaxed attitude made her feel. "No, I'm not in Elzo's employ, I'm afraid. I'm just a friend. Due to some personal circumstances, he and Marlo have allowed me a place to stay until I can get my-" (very well-shoed) "-feet back under me. I was looking to impose a little more and see if he would provide a reference for me." She owed them a lot for their kindness. "You look really familiar. Do you go to DCU?" Maybe that was where she'd seen her? Because the feeling that she'd seen her before was niggling again in the back of her mind. "I am the best employee ever, at least. I just don't have much work history to prove it."

A hand came down from the girl's chin to be held across the desk in the most official manner Daphne could muster. "Daphne Xanis, though not legally married. For several reasons I wanted the name and he had no objection. The paperwork needs to be filed but yeah. We're basically married and holding off the ceremony until some things in town get more settled." And that was the most polite way to mention the 'terrorists' and assorted other problems that Daphne was having in her personal life.
"I do go to DCU though only part time. I recently got a job in a little candy shop that's...well how long have you lived in town? Down by the Park (and there was only one real Park in Destiny City) there's this adorable row of shops. I work down in there part-time too." Mischief showed on her face and there was a pile of good-humor in her next statement. "Someone has to pay the bills, you know." Eyes skimmed around the incredibly posh office and they were crinkled at the edges.
Inwardly, she was very curious. What had happened to cut Jada Chamberlyn off from her fantastic pile of money so that she needed a job? Jesus, had she spent all of it in the two months that Audrey had been missing?! It seemed impossible. But it was Jada.
No, not entirely impossible.
"I'm sure if nothing else they can find something for you to do for a week or two before giving you a really good reference. If you don't mind me saying, you're pretty enough that without much of a work history you could probably get a decent job."

"Congratulations!" Jada was surprised by the fact Elzo... Elzo had been with someone serious. She'd met her before. Right? Maybe? Regardless, "I am so happy for both of you. I hear waiting on a ceremony. There is a ton of 'settling' that needs to be done." She shook her head. "This town is a mess right now." Not to mention everything else going wrong.
"I think I know the one you're talking about." she gave Daphne a smile. "I was born in Destiny City, and chances are good I'll die here too." More true than Daphne might suspect. "I know the town pretty well." Her eyes flickered around the room and then she laughed. "Doing triple duty, then? Not only keeping Elzo on track, but working and going to school? I couldn't imagine having a serious relationship and working towards building your future." Well, she could, but she wouldn't do it. Daphne was looking- Elzo was a good guy, overall. Even if he was a pervert.
"I really want to avoid imposing on them for another week or two, if at all possible." she admitted. "I've got a few feelers out, but half the people with legitimate companies don't want to hire me because of my family, and the other half don't want to hire me because of my lack of experience. All the jobs that do want to hire me are highly suspicious in nature, or peddle to sex appeal a little more than I'm comfortable with."
She'd texted an appeal to her father, not that he'd do any good. It would all come back to relying on her family if she accepted the help she had begged for.
