The sun was barely rising the day didn't look promising, rather the dark clouds that lingered in the sky seemed poised to sweep in over two very different packlands. The ocean was wild the waved crashing violently against the cliffs where most of the wolves of Agua Azul had made their homes. The sands on the beaches were damp and cold and the forest trees were dark even as the moon fell away and dawn broke. Deeper to the east the wolves of Akikki Chibale were preparing, pups were tucked away in the den from the cold weather. One alpha stayed behind to protect, the other followed the warriors towards the boundary between the lands. The dawn of war had come and the sky rumbled ominously as if threatening the wolves on both sides to end the generation long feud.
Tempeste was prepared for this, she glanced behind her at her family members, her real family. She might have the blood of Twist and Wazaam in her veins but after meeting them, and being betrayed by them...she knew. In her heart her only true parents would be Crunch and Libenalas, her true pack was Akikki Chibale. She looked at her uncle Musketeer, at the sadness in his eyes for his lost daughter. Never again, they would loose no more of their beloved family to the sick depraved ways of Agua Azul. Today they would end this, chase away the dark plague of Twist and her brood. They might not be able to tackle their northern enemies, but Agua Azul had pushed them to action.
"Move Out!" She howled and lead the way through thick forests and finally past their territory. The attack would be a surprise, they needed the advantage it would give. The trees started to thin, a sure sign of approaching the oceanside.
Twix growled a warning her ruby eyes scanning the surrounding area, already they had come across an Agua Azul wolf. "Probably the patrol...Veero find and handle it...let's keep moving in." She glanced at Tempeste for affirmation and nodded firmly when it was given. Tempeste was in charge clearly, but she deferred to the wisdom of her aunt, Twix knew strategy.
As the rest of the pack headed in Veero found himself thinking of his mate, and his pups. He would have to be careful, he had a lot to lose, but he wouldn't dream of abandoning his family, their cause. Agua Azul had to be stopped so that his pups could grow up without the fear of the west that he had been raised with. He never wanted to know loss such as Musketeers, a daughter never again seen. His nose twitched once, twice, his lips raised and a growl slid from his muzzle at a vaguely familiar scent. He knew the male on patrol, this fight would be a pleasure.
Cadbury frowned and lifted his head, he had left his den to do a short patrol. He liked to help his father with such things, not that Agua Azul needed too much patrolling, most packs kept to themselves. Except this cool morning he picked up an oddly familiar scent, but one strange to this area. Then he spotted the dark shape and identified him.
"Well well well...I don't suppose you realize that you're intruding? I might forgive the transgression if that pretty female is still with you?" Cadbury grinned charmingly and then his eyes widened and a snarl escaped him as Veero crashed into him full force. The war had begun...
The sky was dark, and it almost would be considered Stormy if Shezaam knew any better. The female was tired of covering for her mother, and her life was becoming hell from trying. So now this was what path her mother had been on. It was all coming down around them. Something
didnt feel right in the air.. No, it felt thick and gloomy. She wasnt sure why, air was usually light to her lungs and a pleasant sensation. This was not. She looked with a furrowed brow to the sky, watching the clouds rolling in like thick grey horses. They were quick moving, and
she just knew that something wasnt okay. She had to figure out why she was feeling this way.. she didnt like it at all. The female was usually a happy, carefree shewolf, but this wasnt the case today. If Chocolate had been around her, he would have seen an anxious, worried mate, that
hat no idea why she was even so concerned. She looked to the wolves that were mingling in the center of the packlands. Some were talking revolt, others were talking of killing Twist.. And then there were others talking of killing Wazaam. Loyalties were all screwed up lately and it killed
her. She had seen her father deteriorate when Twist had betrayed him..Betrayed Tempeste. How he despised her mother lately. She supposed she couldnt blame him.. It was time for mother to leave.
"Paranoia." She called, looking to the pink wolf that was sprawled across the rocky terrain.
He was chewing on a long old bone, but when she called his name, he perked with a c**k of his head. He had never seen Shezaam, but he had imagined before that she was beautiful, and wise. From what
he had been told, she was very orange.
"Yes, miss?" He asked, walking to her with a concerned look on his maw. He too felt the thickness of the air around them, but he was used to things not going just right and so he really hadnt paid it much mind. However he could tell from Shez's voice that she was interested in why things seemed
so off today.
"Do you feel the weight of the wind today?" She asked, looking at him even if she couldnt look into his eyes. She trusted him, because he had been trained as a pup to be a warrior. She had used him for the job many times before, but this time.. she needed a spy.
"I do. I ignored it as much as I could though." He responded honestly. The black wing on his pelt rippled in the wind, making him look like a fallen angel. He was getting older, grey touching the muzzle around his nose. BP had told him such, and he was truly saddened by such knowledge.
"Go, Paranoia. Go find out what you can. I want to know whats going on. I dont like this feeling. I dont like it at all." She said. She knew she wasnt the alpha, but with her parents unable to deal with the stress of the tasks she was currently handling, she had taken it over.
"Yes. I shall." He said, and turned to dart off into the darkness of the forest. The trees were sparse, such was life when living on the ocean cliffs. He could scent others around, and he growled lowly. He knew instantly what that smell was. Akiiki wolves were on their lands. He heard Tempeste's howl,
and his heart began pumping wildly in his chest. His paws were still, and he waited to feel the vibration from their paws. That would tell him which direction the group was heading. But when he realized they were so close, he raised up his head and howled long and hard. Oh he hoped the
pack heard him. They needing a warning.. because he had a feeling this was the heavy feeling that Shez had felt.
Twix grumbled under her breath, they had been spotted, the sounds of snarls were faint behind them Veero was handling whatever wolf had been on patrol. She glanced up at Tempeste and scowled, they had to get further in to be able to press a proper attack, and to give Tempeste a chance at the alphas.
Tempeste growled low, she knew what Twix was thinking, they weren't deep enough in yet. She glanced at Musketeer, her uncle was fast, despite his age he was probably still the fastest wolf in the pack. "Musketeer...think you could rundown whatever wolf it is? Keep him from getting back to the rest of the pack? They probably heard him, but if he can't get back he won't be able to tell them much else."
Musketeer gave a firm nod and then launched himself forward darting and leaping with speed and sure-footedness. He was still the lead hunter, though he had been looking for a replacement, just as Twix had started to find a beta she could groom to her position. The older generation knew it was almost time to yield to the younger. He frowned thinking of his lost daughter, his precious Moranna. Today he would make Agua Azul pay for their wicked ways. The pain of Millanna leaving struck deep inside of him, like her mother she seemed destined to want to roam. He re-focused and spotted a colorful male ahead. With a snarl he flew in to harass the other males legs hoping to bring him down. Then he noticed the blindfold and realized he had a distinct advantage.
They left Musketeer to his fight trusting in his speed and desire for vengeance of his daughters behalf. Tempeste led the other wolves onward and towards the cliffs spotting the Agua Azul wolves assembled there. She paused for a moment trying to determined numbers, she spotted Shezaam in what appeared to be the lead. Her eyes found Wazaam and her lips lifted in a slow snarl. She glanced at Twix and huffed softly, she knew who could handle who.
"Take their leader...I'll handle the alpha male." She paused as she received the nod and then rushed forward. "Attack!"
Twix snarled and launched herself towards Shezaam eager to make the spawn of Twist pay for all their worries.
Chocolate growled as he realized the strategy and lunged infront of Twix taking the snarling bite she had intended for his mate to his own shoulder. He rolled and forced the Akikki Chibale beta female to roll with him by grabbing her ear.
Musketeer snapped at Paranonoia's legs and realized this wolf would manage just fine eyes or not. He couldn't underestimate him, but he would not back down. "Peace? You intend us to sit by while your vicious leader tried to pick us off one by one?"
Shezaam watched her sister approach, and she felt the anger in her. She couldnt blame her, mother had tried to kill her after all.. She had a better life where
she had been, only to meet her family of blood for the first time to have it thrown in her face. It made the bile rise up in Shezaams throat. She didnt like the idea
of fighting family. It panged her and she gulped. Her eyes focused as she stopped thinking, and noticed that a caramel colored wolf was heading straight forward. She
braced herself for the attack, only to see Chocolate lunge himself in front of her. She gasped, and growled.
"Chocolate!" The normally docile female lunged at Twix in an attempt to keep her off of Chocolate. Her family wasnt to be messed with, otherwise it really was war.. She
grabbed at Twix's leg, biting it and hopefully making it difficult for her to stand. She felt her heart pull at having to fight. She hated violence. Hated it.
Wazaam saw his daughter rushing towards him and he felt his heart in his throat. No, not her..anyone but her. He couldnt fight his own daughter, not after Hurricane.
He snarled and felt his hackles rise. He needed to hold her off.. he couldnt fight her to hurt her. Maybe to fend her off, but never to hurt her.
Paranoia felt the jaws at his ankles and he tried to dance around the maw to keep his legs from the others mouth. However a few good nips landed and he yelped in pain.
He lunged, jaws open to reach for the throat of the other. He had no more room for words. No, this was going to have to be the way this ended. It had to be
Twix snarled in fury as her attack was cut off by the large brown male, she rolled and then moved to grab his neck. A sudden sharp pain in her leg made her twist her head to try and grab Shezaam's muzzle instead. She twisted wildly trying to dislodge herself from Chocolate and re-focus her attack.
Tempeste was determined as she followed Wazaam with a low growl, the coward was trying to get away! Probably towards Twist so they could both attack her, she snarled and picked up her pace. Her ears fell back as she darted towards him trying to turn so that she wouldn't be chasing him up the cliff and put herself at a disadvantage.
Cadbury and Veero snarled and clamped down with fierce jaws, both males were in their prime, young, strong, determined. Veero grabbed Cadbury by his throat and tried to force him down. Cadbury rolled and pinned Veero his paws scrabbling at the other males face. Veero lost his grip and snapped his jaws down on the other male's muzzle. A yelp escaped Cadbury, but in seconds he hurled himself on top of Veero to grab the back of his neck. In the distance they both heard the yelps, snarls, and growls that indicated theirs was not the only such battle.
Musketeer stepped back quickly and snarled at the other male narrowly avoiding having his neck grabbed. He danced around the other male and then tried to leap against his side hoping to force him down.
All around the other wolves joined in the fight LSD tackled Frey as the blue male tried to go to Twix's rescue. The two males started to grapple LSD's yelp of agony loud as Frey clamped vicious jaws on what was left of his leg.
The chorus of growls and snarls, cries of pain, it all was like a serenade to the night. A dark serenade that was sung to death and not celebration. The rain began to fall and cold drops began slowly, until it was pouring down in sheets.
Her fur clung to her as she howled. She was alerting everyone of the attack, anyone who was not fighting, needed to be. She had no idea how to stop this.. She knew the pack deserved it, and if she could, she would have offered her mother as sacrifice. A sign of peace. But it wasn't going to stop this now. She watched with sad eyes as her family and friends around her lashed out into the fray. Lightning crackled through the sky, and followed soon by thunder as another shot of electricity sparked. She had to watch the snapping jaws, as Twix turned quickly and centered her attack at the lead she-wolf. She yelped as teeth grabbed at her muzzle. She used her paw to bat the other off, trying to throw her weight into her in hopes of dislodging the teeth from her muzzle. She didnt have too tight a grip, as the bite was awkward. One good shove from Shez released the others hold on her. Her muzzle stung, and blood trickled down it in a thin line. She growled, and lowered to a fighting stance, ready to lunge.
Wazaam hadnt been trying to escape, he had no interest in running. Tempeste would follow, as she had Twists blood in her whether she liked it or not. She had his conviction however, and even if she was bearing down on him, he felt pride. He was proud she had learned
to stick up for herself. To be brave and do what she thought was right. She reached him rather quickly, and his voice was a warning growl. He wanted to stop this from happening.. if he could. He would try.
"Tempeste, dont do this. I know what it looks like. But please.. dont do this." He pleaded. His eyes begged her to reconsider. Begged her not to force him to hurt her to keep her off him. But the male knew the likelihood of that was very slim.
Paranoia didnt back down, but his attack had missed, and now it was as if they danced. They were both trying to figure out how to attack the other, but both were evenly matched. It was obvious Para had been without his eyes long enough that it was no longer a handicap.
He raised his own lip, growling at the older male as he panted a bit.
Exstacy and Torrent both lunged at Fizzle, who had tried to take down Exstacy. The male had overwhelmed him though, as he was a bigger, stronger opponent. But two males on him were just too much. He yelped, but continued fighting, keeping the thought in his head of his family.
He was protecting his family.
"You and your mate are monsters! We will not be victims to her wicked ways. I came to see if my mothers words were true, if she had tried to save me from savagery. At first I thought she had been mistaken, but then you and your mate tried to kill me! You're own flesh and blood! You're the monsters we were warned about and now we have come to end you and your evil pack! You will destroy no more families!" She leapt and went right for Wazaam's throat refusing to back down now that she was so close. The rain poured down darkening her fur and making her determined to end this.
Twix snarled and went after Shezaam again her paws dancing a deadly circle around the other female. Chocolate however saw the blood on his mates muzzle and with a ferocious growl tackled the beta female to the ground and snapped his jaws towards her throat. Twix twisted and managed to jerk back just in time but Chocolate's fangs fell on her chest and dug in. She yelped and snarled trying to get her paws back under herself to escape the vicious assault.
LSD yowled and jerked himself away his purple cloth falling away to reveal his scarred stump. He snarled and saw his green butterfly hovering near Frey's cheek, this was the spot to attack! He loped in unsteadily and fell, but his jaws managed to snap onto the scruff on the side of Frey's neck. Frey straddled the other male and snarled as he felt his fur tugged. He kicked out his hind legs claws digging into LSD's belly.
Cadbury and Veero rolled on the ground one gripping the other by the back of the neck, the other's fangs embedded into the other's leg. They both snarled their pains as they struggled to escape the other's grasp.
The rain made the battle tougher, fur back thick, matted, harder to penetrate, but not for lack of trying. Alas ran through the fighting wolves, somewhere along the way she had realized the mistake. Twist wasn't here...and these wolves weren't the crazy violent ones that had harmed them in the past. Even Twist's crazed offspring weren't the ones fighting hardest, these wolves were the innocent victims left from her reign. "STOP!" Alas tried to run up to where Tempeste was so viciously attacking Wazaam, her voice was lost to the rain and winds though. Wars were not stopped with a single desperate cry.
"I did nothing of the sort. Never once did I lay a paw to harm you. Your mother is no longer welcome here, the pack has suffered enough." He growled, but soon she was after his throat. Growling in defense, he turned to bite anywhere he could, just to get her to let go. He didnt want to really hurt her, and so it looked as if the female was winning this fight. He didnt want to hurt her, he'd die before he killed another child. How ironic it was that Twist had caused so much destruction, and in her wake had left such chaos. Even still, with herĀ gone from sight she was managing to ahve everyone after her. Of course, them being after her meant they were after the entire pack by default, or so thats what they thought.
No one heard the desperate plea from Alas. Too many snarls and yelps rained in the night like the water that fell from the sky. He felt her teeth sink into him and he barked out in pain. He used his paw to push her off, panting hard from just trying to evade serious damage.
Shezaam watched Chocolate beat into Twix, and her ear swiveled to the cry of her father. She whipped her head around, and without second thought she rushed to his side. She snarled, lunging at Tempeste merely to push her off. She pushed her way between the two and snarled at Tempeste, the blood on her muzzle not trickling down as much anymore.
"Dont you dare attack him. He may not have been special to you, but hes everything to many here." She snarled, her eyes serious. Shed die to protect her father. She had always been that way.
Paranoia was unlike the rest.. he could hear the female yelling for everyone to stop. His lack of eyes had made his other senses stronger. He stopped, and perked his ears, listening closer.
Tempeste could hear only blood rushing, she was focused, she thought of her father, Crunch, his strength. She thought of Twix and how proud she would be of Tempeste's assault. Then a flash of pink was at the corner of her gaze, and then her sister came and was between her and her goal. She growled low her eyes narrowing.
"Of course he is, Twist's puppet a figurehead for you all." Tempeste snarled at Shezaam. "Move...or I'll be forced to handle you first...you are my sister, do not make me spill you're blood too."
Alas scrambled up the familiar cliffs and darted between Shezaam and Tempeste. "STOP!" She cried again. "Tempeste...Twist is gone...look around...this isn't the Agua Azul we believed we had to fight. Your father...has seen the truth." She turned and looked at Wazaam her eyes filled with sorrow. How she pitied him, more now then when he had been but a gullible little pup. He had suffered so much, and what happiness he had tried to hold had been snatched away. Alas felt a deep pang in her chest, she had only wanted to save Agua Azul, save Twist. The later had been impossible though she had tried, but it seemed the former...was on the verge of happening.
Tempeste stopped and frowned looking around then eying Shezaam distrustfully. "How do we know it's not just a trick to allow Twist to escape?"
Below the cliffs fights raged on Twix managing to get out from under Chocolate and poking his eye with her nose as she bit his cheek. LSD held Frey's leg in a bone crunching grip. Veero held Cadbury's ear so firmly the flesh had begun to rend apart. Musketeer however growled as Paranoia stopped and thinking it a diversion he launched himself at the other male trying to tackle him to the ground.
Shezaam heard the threat, and it didn't phase her. She would spill the blood of her sister to protect her father. She had loyalties, and they were to the two men in her life. Her father, and her mate. She growled, and went to say something in return, but Alas was there rather quickly. She perked a bit, cocking her head and wondering if it was a trick. She didn't see Alas as the type to want to hurt them by tricking them. She backed off Tempeste, though she still stood in front of her father.
Wazaam looked up at Alas, and the blood dripped from his wounds. He didn't mind too much. He felt he had deserved all this. He had fallen for Twists tricks, and he was no better than any of the twisted individuals that had found refuge here from Twist. He said nothing, his head held high though it was obvious he was broken. The males strong spirit was what had allowed him to survive the ordeal. But he was a broken, sad soul. Alas hadn't failed him, but he had certainly been so brainwashed by Twist that he didnt think that she could have done anything regardless. He had been a pup... and now here he was, and old wolf, who had seen far too much for one lifetime.
Some wolves in the surrounding area stopped fighting, to watch what was going on with the Akiiki alphess. They looked confused, and looked from each other to the scene. The rain was easing, the
storm blowing off almost as quickly as it had appeared.
Paranoia yelped in pain as the teeth found their mark and he turned to lunge at the other. His teeth found his ear, and he pulled, shaking his head like an alligator who had caught his prey. He had stopped, and this male wanted to continue. If that was the case, he could continue.
"Enough! Twist is obviously gone...there's no reason for us to continue this way." Alas looked at Wazaam and moved closer glancing at Shezaam to see if the younger female would let her pass.
Tempeste stood uncertainly but as her mother moved closer to Wazaam she tensed her eyes on Shezaam. She didn't want to see her mother get hurt, Alas had insisted on coming, but she was peaceful.
"Hello Wazaam..." Alas moved closer to the male her eyes reflecting his pain, she reached out to touch her nose against his muzzle. Warmth flowed up, her love for the pack she had once been a part of burst bright in her chest. Slowly Wazaam's wounds healed up leaving only bloody traces of what might have become deep scars. If only she could heal his spirit as easily as she was able to mend flesh. She turned and looked at Tempeste and then Shezaam, it was striking now to see the strange resemblance. Two young females, strong, loving, but determined. How odd that they should turn out so alike despite their very unique upbringings.
"This must end...Twist is gone...now we have a chance to bring peace to these lands. We've both suffered for all the strife she's caused." Alas looked at Tempeste, she needed her daughter to cooperate, for though she was alpha female now, someday Tempeste would take her place.
Tempeste eyed Shezaam uncertainly and then turned to watch as her adoptive mother healed her blood father. She felt a twinge of guilt, her mother was right...Twist was gone and now both packs could achieve peace. If she kept the fight going...she would be no better then Twist. She glanced at Shezaam trying to see her sister differently, trying to feel for her the way she felt for her adoptive sister Venera.
He looked at Alas and his eyes showed the years of abuse and hardships he had been through. His mind was feeble lately but he remained strong for his pups.. He had to. They needed him. He only wondered if he would ever find a female who wouldnt mind his inabilty to have more pups..and just live out his life with him. But he pushed those thoughts aside. He wasnt ready for that yet.. He offered a warm smile to Alas, and lay on his belly to allow her access to him. He trusted her.. She'd never given him reason not to.. He closed his eyes allowing his body to feel the warming pull of her healing energy. 'Good to see you again, Alas.' he whispered in his thick voice.
Shezaam looked at her sister and her expression softened. Tempeste only believed what she had been forced to experience. She had always felt love for her sister.. She didnt care who she was raised by.
Wazaam looked at both of his daughters and he felt pride swell in his chest. He smiled and motioned to Shezaam with his muzzle. 'She is to be the leader of this pack. She will reform it and make it stronger." he announced.
Shezaam jaw dropped a bit but at her fathers pressing look she gulped and nodded. Turning to look at Tempeste she smiled. "I accept sister.. I want nothing more." She said honestly and with a genuine gaze in her eyes.
Tempeste looked at Shezaam how odd that two blood sisters should know so little about one another. She would come to know her sister though, she had to if they were to become allies. She gave a slight smile and nodded softly.
"Then it shall be so...we will handle the formalities...but for the moment...our packs are still fighting...we'd best go announce it's over." Tempeste frowned as the distant sounds of yelps and snarls floated up towards them as the pounding rain slowly ceased. The sky it seemed was pleased by the peace that was sweeping across the land.
Shezaam looked over her silver colored sister and nodded as well. She stood from her sitting position, and motioned for Tempeste to follow.
She knew that they would need everyones help to stop these battles. Some were truly heated, as was obvious by the amount of bloodshed all
over the grass. She knew that some of the more evil members had taken great joy in killing, and yet they were no where to be found when it came to
the fighting. They werent loyal, and it made her sick to her stomach. Her first course of action would be removing all the bad blood within the pack.
They would be peaceful, and with allies of AC, she knew they were bound to get far.
"Lets go." She said, and sprinted off.
