You were one of the lucky few who didn't want to purchase this medication.
It's 4 months later after the turning.
After the real effects of the drug kicked in.
How well is l̺̝̩̪̠i͖͚̱̥̟̖̯̟ͅf͚̞̬̱̬̲̬̫ͅe̱͖̯͓ going for you?

~RULES~

1. Follow Gaia TOS rules.
2. Please be literate of your posts, and have a minimum of 5 sentences per post. No one-liners allowed in this roleplay.
3. Romance and relationships are allowed, but please keep them PG-13.
4. Cussing is also allowed, considering many people are angered or in a panic during this apocalypse. Please pace yourself and don’t go overboard with it though.
5. Blood and gore written-detail can easily play a role in this story, since the environment involves the walking dead. Only write in grotesque detail if needed and plays a great effect.
6. God Modding is a huge no-no in this roleplay. Same goes with auto-hitting or auto-killing.
7. Please notify me through a PM or post in the OOC forum if you're leaving or will be away from posting for multiple days.
8. Warnings will be given out if any of the above rules are broken. If a roleplayer continues to break these rules, their character(s) will be thrown into the hordes of undead and removed from the roleplay.
9. Enjoy yourself and hopefully you’ll survive!

~CHARACTER SKELETON~

Send your profile skeleton(s) as a PM to Scars-of-an-Undead, and title it as "I'm still alive!"
CHARACTER PROFILES HERE

• Username:
• Name:
• Age/Gender: 00/ Male or Female
• Personality:
• Occupation before the infection: (Optional if the character had a job)
• Brief Background Summary and how you got here:
• Abilities:
• Weapons and Supplies: (2 Weapons max, 4 supplies max)
• Weaknesses:
• Appearance: (Visual picture or description. Stolen or recoloured art pieces will be declined)

Please Read before filling the skeleton!

WEAPONS AND SUPPLIES = WHAT TYPE OF GEAR THEY WILL BE CARRYING. CHARACTERS CAN ONLY START OFF WITH 2 WEAPONS MAX, AND 4 SUPPLIES MAX. Weapons include items such as knives, pistols, knuckle gloves, etc. Supplies include items such as first aid kits, packaged foods, ammo boxes, etc.
• Concerning ‘Weapons and Supplies’ for your character application, out-worldly weapons (such as katanas and bazookas for example) will not be accepted or allowed in this roleplay. Unless given a reasonable explanation, weaponry that would not be found typically in a suburban/city environment, or cannot be handled by normal humans will be declined.
• Concerning ‘Occupation before the infection’, if you’d like for your character to be of military background or police force background, only 2 roleplayers are allowed this role. We wouldn’t want everyone to have this background, since the chances of a survival group to be all (and conveniently) heavily trained are slim.
FINAL IMPORTANT NOTE: This zombie roleplay is based on fairly realistic survival tactics. Not everyone knows how to work a gun, perform martial arts, can withstand several cut or bite wounds, or carries heavily armed and loud chainsaws on them for survival. Everyone in this roleplay is required to be human – no demons, vampires etc. as species, and please use and pick your supplies wisely. Weapons that may SEEM good to use during a zombie attack may not always be the best item to carry. Like normal human beings, characters also require food, sleep and recovery so make sure to pace yourself to do these things!

~zσмвιєѕ~

The undead in this region follow these characteristics below:

• Decomposing flesh emitting disgusting fumes.
• Below-average human speed and strength.
• Can run, but many of the undead stumble or limp towards their victims.
• Can infect humans and turn them into zombies through deep bite wounds. Several scratch wounds or weak bite wounds towards a survivor may cause sickness rather than turning.
• More active during the night than during the day.
• They cannot infect humans who are already dead.

“GAH! It’s all over the DAMN place!”

Seth cussed in a disgusted tone, grinding his foot across the sidewalk pavement. His hiking boots were smothered in grime and blood, and he was wiping away the mess by dragging his foot harshly against the path. The smell around these parts made him feel queasy, as it reeked of rot and burnt wood and trash. Seeing all of the abandoned, shattered or burned homes in the suburbs made him feel even more on edge, since he and his friend Edward looked like the only two around.

Well… the only two living that is.

The two of them occasionally walked past a undead dead body or two along the way, which explains the disgusting marks of blood on Seth’s boots. A couple of the deceased that Seth and Ed walked by remained lifeless luckily – but that wasn’t always the case. Stupid Perk. That drug brought everything to hell. There are barely any people living around these parts anymore cause of the zombies. I don’t care what others say or think. These things ARE zombies, and are turning normal people into walking, infected creatures.

“We’ve got a bit to travel before getting to this safe haven place right?” Seth questioned Ed while waving his shovel back and forth. The spaded tip was bloodied a little from previous encounters, and it was something Seth really didn’t want to think about, since it made him tremble or cringe. Not too far off from where the two of them were walking, there was a light rustling noise heard from one of the abandoned homes on the street.

Zombies. Fricking zombies. It was really sort of amazing if you thought about it, humanity creating ******** undead, shambling around on the streets. Alex would have loved a chance to study them up close, see whatever virus or sudden mutation or whatever it was that suddenly made humans want to eat other humans, without the influence of cults or natural needs or, say, rock music.

But did the bastards have to pick now to want her to study them?

Their hiding place, a kitchen set cupboard in a furniture store, was not the most comfortable. It was warm and the air was heavy to breathe and filled with dust. Jess was resting against her stomach, either asleep or half-way there. Poor kid, she was exhausted. They'd been running all day and there wasn't exactly much food lying around, unless you counted other humans. But honestly, cannibalism had never been her thing and these suckers were half-way rotten as it was. Eugh.

And the smell these things gave off. It made her want to throw up. She checked her wrist watch - it was afternoon already. She'd let Jess have a nap, but then they had to get going. A kitchen closet was probably not the best hiding place come night time. She managed to pull the revolver out from her belt - only four rounds, and she couldn't get to the ammo in this position. Waiting it was. She could hear the lot of them, shambling around outside wondering where the tasty meat had gone. Alex closed her eyes and tried shutting her mind off for a bit. Maybe she could get some rest as well.

Edward could barely pick up half of the things Seth said, he was so tired he was barely conscious anymore. Sure, they'd manage to hide out and rest up, maybe even sleep a little, though the sleep they'd gotten was horrible. It'd started getting to him. He looked up at Seth at he was talking and stared blankly at him for a while before processing what he'd just asked.

He nodded. "Yeah. There's some kind of pick-up point in town," he answered lowly, trying to avoid any of those creatures noticing them. Seth seemed convinced that they were zombies, but Edward remained skeptic, even though he was running out of ways on how to explain what was happening with other theories. The smell in the neighborhood was terrible, the smell of rotting flesh was so overpowering that it almost made him throw up the little food he had in his stomach.

He pulled up the scarf he had around his neck, so that it covered his mouth and nose, to filter out the smell. He cringed as he accidentally brushed up against his swollen and broken nose. He'd stumbled right in to a street lamp days before when he tripped over some debris. It was really kind of embarrassing, what with everything going on.

He shouldered his bat that was now his weapon and looked around. There were a lot of abandoned houses around here. He carefully prodded Seth to get his attention. "Hey, I think we should have a look in some of these houses and see if we could find more food and supplies," he muttered quietly. A knot formed in his stomach, he wasn't too hyped on the idea of stealing, but it had started to look like their only choice. Not like the owners would miss their things, they were probably dead.

“Good idea.” He nodded, shouldering the shovel of his and scratching the thick bandage over his left eye with his free hand. Seth severely injured his eye and lost his glasses about a week ago from some riot. Because of it, he’s constantly squinting his working eye when trying to see things from a distance, and the bandage of his is always itching. Hopefully the injury would recover soon, but he wasn’t counting on it. “We’re not running low on food already are we?” Seth mumbled, and walked ahead of Ed on the path, trying to read the signs ahead of them. There was a large street sign just at the corner of the road that caught Seth’s attention, and he marched right up to it rather than entering one of the suburban, emptied homes.

GLENWOOD MALL

“…Glenwood Mall?” Seth read out loud, standing about a couple meters away to read the silly thing. He looked across the street, only to spot the large community mall just across a vast, abandoned parking lot. Many of the cars that were parked in the lot appeared broken or unattended, as though the place remained untouched for a long time. “Hey Ed! How’d you feel about checking out the mall here?” He poked the sign with his shovel to show him what he meant. The spade scratched some of the paint off the sign by accident. “There’s probably more supplies in here than in the homes on this street.”

Edward's grip around the bat tightened and he placed a hand on the shoulder-strap bag he had their food and water in. He jogged over the street and peered over the parking lot at the mall. His eyesight was better than Seth's, but not by much. He'd been putting off getting glasses for some time before the outbreak and he regretted it now. The mall was a good idea, however. To him, it'd feel less like stealing if they stole from a store and didn't scavenge someone's home. When had they become scavengers anyway? It seemed only yesterday that life had been going pretty good; he had a nice apartment, a job that he liked and had gotten several dates. Now it was all in shambles and he was rummaging through debris for food.

He waved at Seth to follow him. "Looks like it has a grocery store," he said and started walking across the parking lot. "We should probably just check that out and do it as quickly as possible. Not stay too long. It looks like it'd attract too many of those things." He looked back at Seth and tried to give his friend a confident grin, but the scarf obscured most of that expression. "Come on, let's stick together," he muttered as he pushed the doors to the mall open.
PostPosted: Tue May 31, 2011 2:56 pm

Seth followed close behind Ed, lowering the shovel from his shoulder and holding onto it tightly with a firm grip. Ed had shoved the doors to the mall wide open, only to show that the place was a complete and total mess. Many of the mall benches were tipped over, garbage cans thrown into display cases, expensive electronics stolen and cash registers emptied of their contents. Hundreds of people must’ve gotten here before them, and stupidly enough; they only stole the supplies that wouldn’t do them any good. Expensive computers and televisions wouldn’t help, considering they didn’t keep you healthy and alive out here. These products were probably taken early on though, when many of them didn’t realize that it was a zombie infection. “Geez… the hell happened around here?” Seth stepped up front, and looked at each of the stores. He couldn’t make out some of the places’ names, but he definitely didn’t spot a grocery store on the floor they were on. They had to walk in further. “Looks like a bunch of people got in here before us. Any idea which way we should be heading? I don’t go to this mall often so I don’t know where the grocery…

would…

be…”

"..."

His voice drifted off once Seth spotted an orange creepy figure, sitting hunched over, and leaning against the wall to the right of them. It was sitting across the room with its head tilted downward, as though dead or sleeping. As Seth squinted his eye, he realized that the person looked like that annoying medication mascot, Perky. This didn’t seem right though. My vision isn’t THAT bad is it? he shook his head and pointed at the figure. “...Isn't that the fluffy rat for those pills? Or is my vision crapping out on me again?”

Edward was more than used to this mall, since he often came to a small store here that sold finer cheeses, and he'd picked up where the grocery store was. He was just about to grab a hold of Seth's hand to pull him along and guide the way. He stopped dead in his tracks and stood and stared for a few moments before snapping out of it.

"Y-yeah, that's that ******** squirrel, alright," he said, feeling a little dumbfounded with what he was seeing. He turned back to look at Seth. "Think it's dead? Should we check?" Did they even care if this person was dead or hurt or not? He held on to his bat with both hands, staring at the person in the suit. He was quiet for a while, debating with himself what to do.

"HEY! You in the suit! Raise your hand if you're alive and human!" he called out a little louder than he intended.
