As I am who it is that I am, I feel the need to create something 'pretty' around valentine's day every year and dedicate it to someone who deserves something nice.

This year, I'm in no mood for that kind of s**t really. Personal reasons, don't even get me started.

I did, however, do this:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

I tried some newish things with it... experimenting with texture and tone to try and somehow create something that fulfils my valentine's-day-prettiness requirement while being subtly colored by my dark mood.

I have no idea if I achieved any of that or really anything at all. You tell me.

Yeah... I think I went a little crazy on the blur/obscure on the first one.

The second one is designed to be somewhat sharper.

I figured with the amount of photographers etc there'd be lots to say about my composition, lighting, all of that.

the first one: generally photography students are told to avoid putting subject right in the cneter of the frame.
i dont mind the sort of gaussian blue thing going on there, but there's not alot of contrast.

with that in mind i, like the second better, but i dont know about the zoom in on the water drop detail beng stuck on the side. I sort of like the image as a whole on it's own.

You know, I'm familliar with the rule of thirds. I just... forgot, I guess.

As for the second one, you don't think it'd be a little plain without the zoom-detail panel?
