Do you have a favorite author? Or a particular book series that you would love to see more people reading, perhaps some folks to discuss them with? List them here.
I'll start off by mentioning the work of David and Leigh Eddings. The Belgariad is a wonderful starting point. They wrote several epic series, all of them worth multiple read throughs, except perhaps for the final series. By that point, some of his characters had become somewhat cliched and watered down.
Must reads from them include: The Belgariad series The sequel to the Belgariad, The Malloreon series Single novels related to those two series worth reading, Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress
I might add more later, but the tornado siren just went off. I need to go keep an eye out on things.

Orson Scott Card.
If you haven't read any of the Ender's Game series and you consider yourself a sci- fi person, first of all, slap yourself. Then, go buy Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, and whichever other ones you want from there. These are the the best sci- fi books I've ever read EVER.
