User ImageQuenthel enjoyed the fact that she was free again for another day. It wasn't likely that she really ever had anything to do but it was still a grand thing when she had free time. Quen wondered what she would do today. There wasn't much she didn't like to do, but there were so many things out there she was having a hard time picking between them all. Swishing her mane around Quenthel looked at the blue flower in her hair. It wasn't long ago that she was tempted to leave it behind to a wishing star. She wished for another soq to meet. That gave her an idea for the day. The dark uni would go out and meet new soqs. Hopefully there were some around this area for her to meet.

Prancing around the trees, Quenthel looked around in hopes of spying another in the distance. It didn't take long for her to get distracted though and find something to play with on the way. Quen kicked around an acorn trying to get it through a goal she created with sticks. The sticks leaned against rocks she piled up. After a few minutes she finally got the little acorn through the goal. It didn't take long for her to take pride in her shots and continued to try again until she could get it right the first time. Once that was through she went back onto her hunt to find a new friend. She had high hopes that there would be a few she would encounter this day.

User ImageSome ways away, a bright blue winged mare was staring at her reflection in a stream. Her wings were curled up against her sides, hiding most of the Kirin scales along her flank and mid-section. Her long forelock and mane covered most of the other scales, on her shoulders and between her eyes. In her mouth, she was holding the little jingly bell that was permanently attached to her twisted forelock by one of the ribbons, so it didn't drag her hair and ruin all her vision. It was bad enough some days she could only see well with one eye.

The little silver object fascinated her today. She had never expected to come across someone who was actually afraid of it. Such a sweet little jingle it had. She supposed she shouldn't be surprised. There were many Soq in the world. That meant a lot of different personalities.

Shaking her head, the mare turned around a little so she could dip one wing into the water, splashing the coolness over her back as she dropped the bell to take a drink. It jingled as it always did. Feeling satisfied, she continued on walking through the forest, one side of her vision completely hidden by the thick forelock covering one side of her head.

Quenthel heard a small ting in the distance. Her ears turned around and lay against her head. What was that sound? Where did it come from? Her eyes searching through the trees, she tried to find out the source of the sound. When she heard it again, the swift mare galloped towards the sound. Her mind raced thinking of what could produce such a sound. She hadn't heard of anything like it before. Was it another animal? What kind of animals made that sound though. It was unique and something she hadn't heard before. What about one of the shinies. Those beautiful stones she had found one day. Would another have found them? Was there a whole spring of them? Oh if there was she would be so excited. She hadn't come across the stones in a long while and she had hoped to find more some day. They were what made the bracelets around her hooves.

When she came upon the backside of another soquili she was rather surprised. Quen didn't think that a soq could make such a noise. Her eyes found the bell and all was answered. That shiney was the one that made the noise. The other female was traveling and looked tired. Or maybe sad. She wasn't sure but she didn't like when others were hurt and wanted to help in some way if she could. "Hello" Quenthel smiled. "I'm Quenthel. What's your name? What are you doing here in the forest?" She slowed her questions, not wanting to scare away what possibly could be a new friend.

The winged mare stopped in her tracks at the thundering sound behind her. For a moment, lost in her thoughts, she had thought it was actually thunder. That was something she didn't need. Rain. The forest would give decent shelter, she was sure. She had seen a rather large and thick tree just a few kilometers behind her. If it did rain, she could always just backtrack as fast as possible to it. Her hair was most uncomfortable when it was wet, being so thick itself.

But as she listened closely, she realized it wasn't the weather coming after her. It looked like another Soq, lost at times among the shadows of the trees. With something glittering on the creature's forehead.

Before Ni'awtu could question it too much, the other mare had stopped behind her and showered her with questions. At least, to the bright mare it was a lot at once. The bell on her forelock jingled as she turned around.

"Ni'awtu. My name is Ni'awtu." Said much slower than the Unicorn. She tilted her head at the second question. Was it strange for a Soq to be in the forest? Or just a Wind? She supposed it was. There was nowhere to stretch your wings. "Should I not be in the forest?"

"Oh no you can be in the forest." Quenthel realized that the other female didn't understand her question and felt bad for misleading her. Quickly, her mind and voice raced to try and explain herself. "I was meaning to ask what you were out and about for today. Such as were you on an adventure, just walking around, looking for something. Something along those lines. Anyone is allowed in the forest. Even if they can't make it to the forest because they live in the waters." She hoped that she clarified her question and that no damage was done to the hoped for future friendship.

Quenthel moved around to take a look at the other soquili, she loved the wings. It was often that Quenthel wondered what it would be like to fly. Knowing that would never happen, she would hope that something close would and she could know the feeling. Those that are meant for the ground don't deal with flying well, she has been told. That didn't matter, one moment of awkwardness is worth trying something knew. How would she know if it was true unless she tried it out as well. "Do you like to fly?"

The fast moving speech of the other mare made Ni'awtu step back a little and blink her pale purple eyes. Her slower mind tried to quickly process all the words and make sense of them. At least the Unicorn hadn't asked a question in there. The winged mare was glad of that. Still...It did make her head spin a little. If this kept up, she may have to ask the other to slow down a little. In as kind a tone as possible. For the first time since leaving her family group, Ni'awtu didn't feel as uncomfortable as she normally did around strangers. Then again, the only strangers she had met before now were stallions.

"So long as there is nothing...Dangerous in here," the bright mare responded quietly. She had worried there for a bit that there was some powerful source living in this forest that didn't take too kindly to visitors. Or one of those evil Soq breeds she hadn't yet had the pleasure of meeting. And she wished she never did. "Or I am not trespassing on the territory of another."

Ni'awtu wasn't sure how to answer the other questions besides the last one. She shifted uncomfortably on her feet, spreading out her wings and being careful to keep them away from hitting the black mare in the face.

As was normal with Ni'awtu, she graced over the question and settled on the other. If it was something the other really wanted to know, she could just repeat it. Ni'awtu would then attempt to answer it. As much as she didn't. Adventuring? What was adventuring?

"I do not fly much..." she admitted, stretching out her wings once more. Why was everyone she coming across sizing her up? Was her coloring so different? The scales? "I...Suppose I do. When I can."

Quenthel stopped, as she realized that her mouth was running again. The other female seemed a bit taken aback by her words as well. Maybe there were too many, maybe they didn't hit home right, maybe there just had to be time for Ni`awtu to think. A keen blush started to form, the dark unicorn slightly embarrassed at her neglectful behavior. Quen knew that and chastised herself to keep an eye on her mouth more often. When it came to dangerous things though, Quenthel didn't know how to answer that. Though it wasn't a question there were somethings that Ni`awtu would need to know. "Well, there are some dangers out here, but this area is good. I haven't met anything dangerous in these parts." She thought on the territory bits. There were a few that did take the land a little too seriously and claimed it as their own. Some were overly jealous and wouldn't let any others in on the land either. This area though had a few claims to it and all of them were lackadaisical about it. "There are a few herds that travel here as their own, but they don't claim it as others would. This is free grazing land. Open for all. The herds aren't of the cannibalistic kind either. I have never run into them or the ones with wings like bats. I hope I never do. No offense if you love or are related to one."

Quenthel watched Ni`awtu's wings spread with admiration. She thought they were beautifully dark. The thought of flying sounded great but Quen was starting to realize that ground under her hooves was better than air. It would be an adventure but she couldn't last long. The ground and earth was where she belonged and loved. "I think flying would be an adventure, though I'm not sure its one I could take." Which is a rarity. Quenthel often found herself going places she probably shouldn't. "So what do you do for fun? I hope I'm not prying too much."

Ni'awtu offered the other mare a kind smile at the blush. She looked bothered by something. The Wind could only assume it was the slew of words that had erupted from her mouth like lava from a volcano. She really didn't mind, it was just a lot all at once for her brain to register. But it did. After a few moments pause.

The smile, of course, dropped once she started talking, again. Not out of her mind trying to process this new bit of information. More for the fact Ni'awtu just didn't smile much anymore. There wasn't much to smile about when you were alone. All the time. With not even a traveling buddy.

"I am not," the bright mare responded quietly. Wind and Kirin only. So no need to worry from me." Knowing how strict both families were about new blood entering their lineage, she doubted if there was anything but pure blood on either side. No one ever showed signs of other breeds. The Wind were so secluded where they lived, no other breeds could get close enough. The Kirin were no better. Easier to get to, but so strict in their beliefs.

The wings tight against her sides fluttered a little at the mention of flying. True, Ni'awtu doubted the other would manage to get into the air easily. Maybe with some sort of contraption, like a sling to carry her between a few Wind.

"Do for fun?" She wasn't sure the answer to this one. She didn't really...Do anything for fun. Her whole being was focused on trying to find her place in the world. Now that she didn't have a family anymore. "Travel, I suppose."
