Luke experimentally circled his arm, one hand pressing into his shoulder bone tentatively. All good-- If he didn't strain himself too much, he healed up nicely. All thanks to Eve's lovely bandaging and Kaatje's boxes of cereal. But as entertaining as it was to have them visit, Luke had yet to get his rare glimpse of his icy cold beauty. It would have been a nice dream if she had visited him when he was out but he assumed that would have been too much to ask her. Although the urge to call her had been strong. Well, it was likely it would have ended up as a prank call.
Luke had been finishing up his shift at the bar, customers still walking in at all hours of the day and knight. His fur-coated white jacket hung sloppily over his shoulder as he struggled to tie his blue tie around his loose black collar while distractedly walking out of the back room. He felt a restless urge swell up in him as he walked out of the bar, upon meeting a pair of strikingly similar teal eyes belonging to a blond female. He shot an reflexive easy grin .. and then a frown. Wait, calculating it in his head .. Was he supposed to be faithful to a mere crush? (Well, nothing "mere" about it but you couldn't discount it was one-sided.) But if Eve heard about it -- Didn't girls have connections everywhere?
Luke not-so-silently debated the pros and cons of getting in trouble with having a little fun. He was leaning towards yes with only a slightly guilty conscience. Just a little bit here and there was good, right?
This had him frowning like this: neutral
Luke had never been one you could call faithful but it seemed he was having a change of heart. This sorta sucked.

The summer air was pleasantly mild that evening, the warmth from the sun lingering in the air long after it had gone down, leaving only the stars and the city lights to illuminate Destiny City. It was a peaceful night, quiet in all the right ways, at least to a Senshi -- while the clubs and bars still showed signs of life, students eager to escape and enjoy their vacation, it seemed that the Negaverse too was taking a break from their usual prowling. Or if they were up to anything, they were surprisingly quiet about it. The air had been completely still along the streets the Dream Team patrolled, passing only a few couples as they wandered through the streets back home, or with a few friends to a party, so much so that for once the senshi phone in a certain girl's pocket had only gone off once -- a text to let the rest of the team know everything was all clear. Not that they did much patrolling together anymore anyway... it was very rare that she got a call on her phone much anymore.
Even if she did, Rea might not have answered anyway. As of late, the Senshi of Dreams had been a mere ghost of her former self, neither senshi nor negaverse able to boast seeing more than a glimpse of her at a time. A flash of teal and white, perched silently on a high limb to watch you silently, vanishing a few seconds after you notice her there. The negaverse had little to fear from Elysion's protector.
Tonight, however, was a little different.
A gust of wind tugged at strawberry-blond hair where Reanna Marshall sat on a bench just outside the bar, one delicate hand reaching up to slide it back behind her hair. It was long, now, spilling over her shoulders to hang just beneath her shoulder blades -- hard to believe it has been only a year or so since it had been short, just barely brushing her shoulders. Her eyes, too had changed from the pure blue-green they had once been, flecks of amber announcing Helios' presence. On any other night, they would have been wandering idly, barely glancing at the others that passed by, possibly looking up at the stars in that cryptic way she did... that night, however, they were focused on a particular someone. Next to her, a stranger sat surprisingly close on the small, wooden bench, leaned in close to whisper what could only be assumed to be sweet nothings in her ear. And although her expression was still cool, there was a surprising receptiveness to the freshness of this faceless partner, possibly a little less chilly than before. No less distant.
It was mere chance that she glanced away at the very instant that Luke exited the bar, her eyes lifting just in time to watch his meet another woman's, watching them. For a second, it looked like perhaps she might excuse herself from her 'companion,' tilting away from him just slightly as if she were going to get up, but after a few more moments whatever light had flickered into her eyes from seeing the other senshi died, and she glanced away again.

Not tonight. The unfortunate decision was finalized when Luke lifted a hand, waving it in a apologetic dismissal .. The female turned her head so sharply, it was an immediate and sure sign that Luke wouldn't have the chance to score with her again. Not that there had been a "first" to create a chance for "again" anyways. He sighed but the disappointment was nonexistent, leaving only a tiredness a celibate man could understand.
The music senshi had been a rare sight too within the confines of Destiny City but not nearly for the same reasons that the priestess of Elysion had been. His reasons couldn't even scramble to form a plausible excuse because Luke told it as it was. If Rea wasn't around, he simply wasn't in the mood to patrol. What was the entire point if he didn't catch sight of her? If he wanted senshi company, he'd just call Eve or somebody. After all, the senshi job was only a full-time job if you made it so. He was stepping out of the small open alleyway with a loud and laughter-filled farewell towards his co-workers.
It wasn't by lucky chance that he caught sight of Rea. Besides the convenient fact that she was sitting in front of his bar (he worked there! It counted!) but he would recognize that lovely form of hers anywhere. Luke, a grown teenager, was skipping towards the bench that housed Rea only to realize the bench wasn't housing only Rea.
Was.. That wasn't fair. If Luke couldn't hit on her, he sure wasn't going to allow any male within eyesight to do so either.
He came up from behind the bench, his arms and elbows lying horizontally on the back of the bench. Intentionally and with specific purpose, he lowered his head to intervene between the two. "I'll fight you for her, dude. Wanna give me a try?" He offered towards the male, holding out a hand towards the companion, the hostile words offered in a friendly squabbling manner. "It'll be a lot more trouble for both of us-- there's a dozen of babes in the bar so do you want to scrap for this one? Think hard, my man."

Rea had already turned back to her 'date' before Luke looked over at her, her attention once again seemingly captured by the stranger. Had she waited a few moments, she might have noticed that the other senshi, too, had looked in her direction, recognizing her even in the limited light. Unlike herself, however, it seemed he was much less plagued by inhibitions, already starting towards her in what only could be described in a skip. Had she been looking, Luke might have also noticed that her expression might have changed slightly, and not only to give him a skeptical look at his choice of bipedal transportation. There might have just been a flicker of familiarity in her eyes, an interest that might have gone as far as to being pleased to see him, if you looked closely, past the coolness of her gaze. As it was, however, she didn't even notice him approach, the back of her head turned towards him as he rounded to slip up behind the bench to take them by surprise. It was only then, when he had forced his way between them that she realized he was there, blinking in surprise and leaning back a little to give him room.
His first goal had been achieved. The man, too, leaned back a bit as Luke leaned down behind them, taken aback by the sudden intrusion. There was a moment of visible consideration as the blonde boy made his proposition, as if thinking about whether or not it was worth it before getting up, walking back into the bar with a muttered scoff. For a second, Rea's expression darkened as she watched him leave, less because Luke had chased him off than because he had been chased off so easily, but it cleared fairly quickly. Instead, she tilted her head to the side to quirk an eyebrow at the other senshi, already moving to stand, looking away for a moment as she straightened and turned to face him, the bench in between them now.
"Do you make a habit of chasing off people's dates?"
There was no bite to her words despite their content, her voice low and even and perhaps just hinting at teasing, if you looked for it really closely. Sliding her hands behind her, she clasped them idly behind her back in a receptive pose, tilting her head slightly to the side a little questioningly.

Like Luke had always said, friendliness was the key to everything in life. In fact, one could call it the default keyblade that opened all keyholes. If that was the default keyblade then hostility was the heartless that stirred fights. Luke was no heartless. He definitely wasn't black, malformed or lacking in handsomeness.
Luke applauded the male for making a wise decision, lifting his hand to wave after the departing figure with such friendly ease, you would have never guessed both males were strangers. But his gaze didn't remain on the male for long, considering the fact, Luke wasn't interested in looking over a male's figure. No matter how tight his jeans were... That male's jeans were pretty tight. Instead, he focused on the figure he loved best. Of course, the female variety.. and next, within the female variety, the icy cold princess that he claimed to have caught his heart. He had just about declared that to everyone but the princess in question.
With a natural physical ease that came with training and dancing, both hands gripped the top half of the bench to leap over neatly into a seated position. He took the moment before she spoke to take in her appearance, as much as he could within the short span of time. Her hair was longer. Her voice lacked her usual freeze-- that low tone just got him. Damn if he thought she looked nice in her senshi clothes, she looked nicer in her civilian clothes.
"Only if I'm sure I'll make a much better back-up. I'd rate him about luke-warm, wouldn't you?" Luke asked, his voice lowering to a husky tone. Rea never had to say more than one line to capture Luke's complete and utter attention-- as long as his attention could last, really. The line was made in jest, with the knowledge that Rea probably wouldn't date him. How many times had he invited her out before, barely coaxing the girl into one or two outings. That was after Eve had gone through with the interrogating questions.
"What are you doing out here? I'll take you home if you need me to, bridal style and all. It'll be a blast-- you can carry me." Luke offered, tipping his head upwards to give her a wide grin.

Amber flecked blue followed the blonde boy as he leaped deftly over the bench, watching as he landed in a suave sitting position worthy of any debonair male lead in any chick flick, her expression remarkably cool despite the rather impressive show of athletics. Well, ok, it wasn't very impressive, not for them -- being a senshi had its advantages, its many advantages and being able to leap from the tops of buildings or to the highest branches of trees was one of them. Leaping over a three-foot-high bench? Not so much. Taking into account that it was also Rea, if Luke had expected some sort of applause, he certainly would have been in for a surprise. Still, there was a warmth that was... unusual for the girl, the barest of smiles curling the corners of her lips so that it was hard to tell if she was really smiling or just a trick of the light. In the surrounding darkness of evening, the light from the bar flickered in her eyes as she watched him for a second, even after he had settled, giving the illusion that there was a spark of something in her eyes that might have been amusement.
Another gentle gust of wind brought her back to the present, rustling the folds of her skirt to cling to her thighs, blowing a few strands of hair back out from behind one ear. Rea didn't reach up to brush it away this time, allowing her head, instead, to c**k to the side to lift an eyebrow at Luke as he spoke. "You're right, I would certainly rate him 'Luke'-warm," she replied in an even tone, that little flicker in her eyes slightly more prominent. But it was gone a second later, as if she had realized the mistake and had extinguished it promptly with a quick little glance over her shoulder back towards the entrance to the bar, as if she had heard something that might have been suspicious. Her hands, however, had not moved from where they were cupping her elbows lightly, making no motion for the henshin pen in her purse. And when she turned back, she was his ice princess again, every emotion carefully placed back in its box on her shelf, her entire form mysterious and unwilling to give even the slightest thing away.
Yet despite her best efforts, that little voice in her head reminded her she couldn't stay that way for long. Not with him. Ah, if only knew what he brought out. Perhaps he did. Perhaps that was why he smiled so brightly -- with Luke, it was hard not to smile.
"If you try to carry me bridal style, it will be a blast," she half-replied to his question with a threat that wasn't really a threat, purposely avoiding the part where she had to answer for her whereabouts. The question he should have been asking was 'where have you been,' but she was thankful he didn't -- in the end, it was probably best for all parties, as she might have shut him down completely for that. As it was, she turned a little in the direction of home, taking a few slow steps before glancing over her shoulder at him to give him a questioning look as if to ask 'well, are you coming?' She may or may not have held her arm out a bit as well -- despite being distinctly Rea, that little past life of hers could be remarkably formal at times.

As closely as the redhead seemed to watch Luke and as much as she looked away, Luke kept his eyes acutely on Rea the entire time. His shoulders lowered, legs spread a distance apart as he leaned against the backing of the bench. He was impressed with Rea, at how she could look so magnificently gorgeous with very little effort. He chuckled to himself, reflecting he knew very little about her make-up routines or if she even had any .. But end result, she could just sit there and males like Luke would flock to her. It was unfortunate, he wished that other guys had bad taste because if so, he could be the only competitor in the male section. Unfortunately, it seemed as if males and females both had excellent taste, concluding from the way that Luke had to cross barriers like Eve to even befriend Rea. Even worse were obstacles that were still in his way .. Like a certain moon princess. But she was charming in itself. If you discounted the fact that Chibimoon was another love rival. Even if Luke were to make it to the finish line, the idea of him crossing it was nearly unthinkable.
Luke wasn't sure if there was something different tonight. Of course, with Rea's normally frigid exterior, there was undoubtably something different. But the cause .. Luke simply had to hope it was his own influence rather than the other male's. His smile only grew wider, chin tipping lower, to look at Rea from a lower viewpoint. You could see his mouth opening in a small "o," eyes widening as he watched the female almost smile. A suspicious sound escaped him, sounding similar to a male version of "ooooh!" Even though Rea clearly heard it with their close proximity, Luke made no effort to hide his sounds of fascination.
"Oh! A pun! That was really good-- Five points for you. That's already adding to your thousand points out of a hundred. There's never a maximum score for you, is there, Rea?" Luke made a gun motion with his thumb and pointer finger, pointing upwards in unison with a quick wink and the clicking of his tongue. Rea could try as hard as she liked. Luke preferred to think of himself as the insufferable sun that never ceased to melt the ice--After meeting, it was impossible for the girl to cut off ties with the musical male.
Was she leaving? Had their time together passed by so quickly? He couldn't squash his disappointment------- which quickly transformed to astonishment that couldn't hide itself. Both of them knew it was the first invitation (and hopefully not the last!) that she had extended .. and they both knew he'd jump on it. Because Luke was not subtle. He never tried to be and he never would be.
He skipped forward from the bench towards Rea, his fingers reaching for her arm .. and grabbed her hand instead. His fingers linked with her own, lifting up her hands to bring his lips close to the warmth of their hands. For a moment, it seemed like he might have brushed a kiss against it .. but instead, olive green eyes met amber golden ones, pausing before contact, only to release warm moist air onto their skin.
"It's cold."
The excuse was vague, whether it was Rea or Luke himself that was cold. Or perhaps the phrase referred to something else. His cheeks were just a little red too .. but was that from recently being in the bar? Had he been red when he came out?
... Rea might have noticed that his hand was shaking just a little bit. Just a bit.

She hadn't bothered to answer his little quip about having a maximum score, her eyebrows merely lifting slightly as if skeptical of his rhetorical question. In the end, however, it seemed her answer wasn't required -- without much effort, Luke had already gotten up to skip towards her, eager to take her invitation to walk, although to where, neither of them could know. Although it wasn't as though she couldn't be found at the apartment she shared with Eve, her disappearances were completely random, often spanning days at a time, as though if when she was home, she didn't want to go out and when she went out, she didn't want to go back home. In fact, as she turned back towards the sidewalk that trailed off into the limited light cast only by the streetlamps dotting the road, it was obvious that wasn't where she was headed at all.
Then again, she was sure Luke wouldn't mind.
The touch of his hand, warm against the skin of her arm, brought her back to the present, eyes flicking down to watch as his palm slid boldly against hers, fingers lacing together in a way that suggested a certain level of intimacy. For a second, her eyebrows lifted a little further, amber-flecked blue lifting to meet Luke's gaze in a questioning, albeit guarded look, watching him lift her hand to his lips. Still, beyond that she didn't respond -- surprisingly, she did not add any resistance, neither pulling away nor giving him any sort of scowl to indicate that he had gone too far, something she would have done in a heartbeat at any other time. Perhaps he was growing on her after all.
"If you're cold, we can henshin."
Her reply was as purposely vague as his own, not giving away whether she knew it was an excuse or not, turning her attention back on the path in front of them. Her eyes, however, stayed lingering on him, cryptic as always as she tried to read him.

"Henshining or not, cold is cold." Luke declared, his green eyes turning to a pale shade under the dim night lighting. "Besides, if you henshined, all of your fans might come running." Luke laughed, although the topic warranted little humor. Perhaps it was the disjointed image of various friends and enemies racing from all over the city in a rush towards the dream priestess. Rea did have quite a few fans throughout the city, both in high and low places.
His laughter faded to white puffs of air, his green eyes pulled upwards by the image of the moon. He spoke without looking at Rea but his fingers lacing with Rea's delicate ones a little more firmly, unconvinced by her unusual demeanor. His steps were slow yet fluid, his arm swinging Rea's arm in gentle and wide sweeping motions, demonstrating his perpetual cheer and optimism, although it was only multiplied exponentially or so at the moment. Just a little bit, obviously.
"It's great, isn't it? While we look up at the moon right now, there's things happening all over Destiny City. The sky connects us to the whole city and world-- People are still finding the time to take it easy, go to bars, fight or find romance! Even now, people do things I could never imagine doing. The music never really ends, it just keeps going to a bunch of different tunes. Everyone's got a tune inside of them. You have a really great tune, did you know that, Rea? It might start off a little slow--"
Luke squeezed her hand a little tighter, tugging her a little closer, the pale silver moonlight embracing them both as clouds briefly passed by the bright white orb in the sky.
"--but it's definitely a sultry jazzy sort of melody. There's a bit of piano and violin in there. Definitely flutes. But there's this sort of struggle in there .. That 'reflection' disney feel .. What do you think of my tune?" Luke's free hand pulled the white collar of his fur-lined jacket upwards, covering the naked expanse of his neck, just above his chin, his gaze tipped slightly to the opposite side.
Did everything come out to musical equivalents in Luke's head? Some part of his mind processed music at his very core--One could say that there was very little to read within Luke .. or there was a tremendous amount.

The priestess of dreams took the moment to give the boy beside her a dark, slightly flat look at his exaggeration of her 'fans,' strawberry lashes half lidding her eyes. She didn't have very many friends anymore, let alone fans. The dream team had been her world as a senshi, her world even outside of being a senshi, their miss-matched personalities lacing together into something Rea had felt not only content with, but happy with. Even Delphine, who had never agreed with her nor had ever really gotten along with her had been someone she would have stood up for til the very end, someone she would have called a friend (even if she likely would never do so to her face.) But that had all changed. Nothing was the same. First in the wake up Tartaros, then in Elysion's invasion, everything had changed. She had changed. She'd vanished. And now, even Eve was becoming a stranger.
No, she certainly boasted no fans.
Lifting her head a little, Rea looked up at the sky as Luke spoke again without needing a response -- an appreciated gesture, given where her thoughts had turned. Above them, the stars sparkled as they always had, still so enigmatic, even to the senshi whom had once inhabited them. Her own steps, although shorter, kept up with the slower pace of the cheerful boy, her arm loose to let him swing them gently as she thought about what he said. It wasn't a surprise when he related it to music, all things considered, but surprisingly she didn't look down to give him another look. Instead, chin tilted towards the sky, she just looked at the moon, at the stars as they walked, growing farther and farther away from the bustle of the bar and down town, until they had reached a far more secluded area, quiet in all the right ways. In this instance, she thought about the musical analogy, thought about what he had to say, until finally she stopped completely, looking back down to stare at him, just standing on the sidewalk in the semi-darkness. He'd pulled his hood up to his neck, his head tilted away a little to pose in that way he did things, but she didn't laugh, her eyebrows furrowing together a little, as if distressed. For a good few moments, there was nothing but silence, their misted breath and the occasional 'whoosh' of a car somewhere nearby the only sound.
"Why are you doing this?"
Her voice was soft and breathy, like she had been running and was out of breath, laced with question and perhaps a little hostility. Another little cold gust of wind pulled at her hair, but she didn't bother to brush it out of her face, locks of strawberry blond falling into her eyes. "Why did you break up my date? Why do you laugh and smile and make jokes when I've never been remotely warm to you? And stand behind me when I need you?" she continued, not much louder but certainly firmer than before.
"Why do I get the feeling if I told you to stand here until I got back, you'd do it even if I didn't come back?"

Luke gestured a lot-- It was simply the way he was. When he talked, his hands moved or his feet did a little twirl and his expressions never quite seemed the same. Sure, there were smiles and there were frowns .. But Luke seemed to have an endless amount hidden inside his roughly-sculpted features to match his infinite and vast amount of topics. But even as he conversed endlessly on about one topic, his green eyes traveled everywhere-- to the dim cast of the street lamps, the empty street, the little flickers of expressions that crossed Rea's face or the tiny signs in her posture. Not that he could read all of them, or even a fraction of her thoughts or actions-- It was obvious that they weren't headed back to the apartment she resided in. Or why she had let him take her hand with uncharacteristic ease. He had never asked. Nor did he have any intention of doing so-- It was just like Luke to leave himself perpetually in wonder. To never press or push. He asked for many things .. Her time, company or simply to hear her voice over her phone.. Even if it was simply a curt warning of hanging up. But never this.
However, the priestess wasn't about to inflict him with with the cruel fate of a curiosity to wonder and wander forever.
His deep voice and gesturing came to a slow halting stop, as Rea slowed, one heel set on the grey pavement while the other boot lowered. His pull of momentum was stopped by her linked hand, tugging the male backwards slightly, leaning back, his mouth forming a questioning circle.
Too much of the time, Luke was the complete opposite of Rea-- a carefree idiot that seemed to have too many activities yet far too much time on his hands. His body turned back slightly, his shoulders lowered and his smile never wavered. Nothing changed about him yet, conversely, everything was hanging on the cliff of change. His persistent idiocy had arrived to be put to the test, whether that test be the final one or otherwise, the wheels of time had not advanced yet far enough to tell.
As Rea's bangs flew forward, Luke's short blond locks simply lifted, like blades of grass, the white collar of his jacket dropping once more to the base of his neck. The silence that came before his answer, mirroring the inquiring silence Rea had given him only sentences before, returned as Luke's fingers loosened to lace with Rea's .. Their palms no longer provided the awkward warmth between them, only the brief and insistent presence of his longer and music-calloused digits between her own delicate ones. His shoulders lowered, his height decreasing to barely hover her own, bent slightly to address her, sea-green eyes examining Rea's mixed ones-- There was no way to describe the sheer and refined color, often mixed with images from the far past and present that Luke knew nothing about. But at the moment, only the blond musician was reflected in them. Him and him alone.
"That's because I would."
No embellishments, the statement was as simple as Luke himself.
"I would die for you if you asked. But that would mean I wouldn't be able to see you or your smile or even hear your sultry voice. That would mean leaving you, which I simply can't do."
Not 'won't.' It was 'can't.' Not within his ability to.
"Don't you know, Rea? Every time you just pick up the phone, look at me or just think of me as a passing thought, I'm the luckiest guy on the moon and earth." His arms opened wide, gesturing to the world and galaxy in it's entirety. "I'll be damned if I let another guy take that spot. I'm not saintly enough to say that I wouldn't be a little disappointed .. Even if you left, it means you'll be thinking of me." He paused, to brush the tips of his fingers reaching out for the strawberry blond strands, ".. but how happy you would make me if you did come back. "
Although there was no trace of hope in his expression, his grin had softened to a simple curve of his lips, impossibly more expressive than his usual grin.

She wasn't at all surprised when the blonde kept going a few steps even after she had stopped, letting her hand go slack so that it could continue to be the link between them. In fact, if he had noticed before that slight little tug from their joint hands, she would have been quite surprised -- Luke, while his eyes were everywhere, as if constantly on the lookout for whatever it was he was searching for, could be quite oblivious. Adorably so, some might say. Whether or not she would, that was debatable -- there was definitely a certain... charm to his antics, despite how she had tried her best to ignore them. Most people got the hint, but not him. Surprisingly, it was for this reason that Rea was so patient with him and for this reason that she waited until he came to the realization that she had stopped, her eyes settling on his as he turned a little to glance at her, meeting his surprised expression with a patient, albeit mildly skeptical c**k of her head. He responded not only immediately, but perfectly as well. As if reading her thoughts, his shoulders loosened, the collar refolding against his neck, responding to her seriousness with a calm patience of his own, like he was ready.
That, too, was why she was far more patient with him than most others -- he listened.
Rea's eyes never shifted from his as she spoke, and even in the silence that followed, trying to read his reaction. In the limited light of the streetlamp and fading glow of twilight, it was harder -- she couldn't tell whether the shadows cast over his face and the growing silence were signs of distress or merely him planning his words carefully in a poorly-lit environment. And for a moment, her eyebrows furrowed a bit, for the first time in a long time genuinely worried she had upset someone. She was about to break the silence herself when he finally spoke, and she froze mid-motion, blinking slowly, as if to process his words. When his fingers lifted to brush a strand of strawberry-blond hair she hadn't noticed out of her eyes, she merely glanced at them, a moment of broken gaze between them before they returned. But it was only for a second, a little flick of her amber-flecked blue to his sea-green, before she had looked away again, reaching up with her free hand to brush back the strand of hair he had just touched.
She didn't want him to see the heartbreak in them.
If she had been one to cry, Rea might have at the shear dedication that he had for her, something she didn't -- couldn't -- understand. Instead, she pushed it aside, and her hands lifted as she looked up again, completely calm, both palms lifting to cradle his cheeks. It was a soft touch, barely a soft whisper, fingers ghosting over his skin, pinkies just barely brushing under his jawline. It wasn't meant to hold him -- if he wanted to, he could easily pull away -- but it was enough to keep him still for that second, that brief moment in time. Tilting her head up just slightly, she leaned in to just barely touch her lips to his in a kiss.

In the events that had built up to this event, Luke wasn't quite sure what to make of them. But if had to put it into words, it was if winter had ended for him. The last traces of snow was melting, the ice painfully cracking. Luke's eyes, never not on Rea .. Watching her freeze in the face of what was practically a confession, minus the critical words.. was like the shattering of the frozen pond, bits of solid ice dipping slowly into the icy cold waters.
When she looked away, he was almost afraid of that the icicles he once saw in her eyes might reform, sharper, to keep him at his distance. Ice always froze over, didn't it? But it seemed that the first day of spring had come. Green eyes finally broke away from the mounting complexities of Rea's expression, darting towards the source of gradual warmth on his cheeks. For a moment, countless trains of thoughts, emotions, the impossible speed of his beating heart and the instinct to simply still himself took over. He couldn't even begin to decipher the sudden rush, like dropping a handful of music notes, splattered on paper in different colors.
She was kissing him.
Her fingers were so small .. Her touch was like feathers, the softest pressure of her lips against his own was like an angel's breath. Anything that remotely resembled a little black book within the recesses of his mind immediately vanished, Rea simply erasing the rest instantaneously. His shaking hands.. His fingers struggled, twitching, the hands of a man who couldn't restrain himself or when faced with a difficult choice. He didn't deepen her chaste kiss, the fight not to was almost impossible for a male who never held back, his struggle clear. But finally, one hand lifted to curve trembling fingers over Rea's calm ones, the other hand brushing against the back of her head with a similar whispering touch but firm. He decided that if there was any chance of a Cinderella disappearing act, this wasn't going to be it. No way was she going to leave her slipper behind for him to find.
When the touch of her lips against his disappeared, the briefest pause of silence for both of them to absorb .. and then he took the chance to speak before Rea did.
"Please don't tell me that was a good-bye kiss. If you are, don't say it for now."
Was she about to leave him, as she implied?
"Is this how love feels? Because I don't think you've got a cure to counter this addiction, Rea. I might drive myself insane over you .. Or I could already be. " Luke whispered with a husky laugh, his voice and breathing brushing past the curve for Rea's earlobe. It had been words meant only for her, with her teal eyes and strawberry blond hair. Solely, her. Not the reincarnation residing with her or for the eternal moon or it's kingdom that was the source of their affiliation. But it seemed that someone had heard anyways. Or something.
Something resonated.
Something changed.
It appeared that kingdom of music had heard Luke's declaration, the feeling resonating across an infinite amount of light years and stars.. Quite effectively ruining the mood. For better or for worse?
Rea wasn't the only one who heard it.
