Yofiel was having one of those days where she just did not want to move. She had forced herself to get up before it was too hot and do some hunting, but otherwise she found no reason to move. The day was hot and she was darkly colored, so moving around just did not seem like a smart idea just now. She had been smart enough to at least pick a spot that was shaded and near water to lay in.
The tree she was under was a nice shade, and the little stream that was running near by was better yet. The only thing she would need to do was travel to hunt, and even that would not take her too far from here. She was starting to wonder if with her dark coloring she should not look into moving into the mountains. It was cooler there at least, but she just didn't like the idea of settling yet. She would have to think on it more when she finally had cubs on the way.
She was starting to think she might not ever have cubs. With as active as she was, one would think she would have had at least one if not more litters by now. but somehow the lioness had managed to not have even a miscarriage to show for herself. It was a good thing and a bad thing. On one paw she did not have to worry about cubs running around her paws all the time and getting in the way, on another it could mean she would never have them even if she found a mate. It was just worrying.

Tam hunched his shoulder, moving the small gazelle a little further up his neck, and biting back the curse that wanted to slip free from between his clenched teeth. Its not that he minded bringing Nuala a treat now and again, or that he even minded bringing back any of the little gaggle of dancers and singers he seemed to always have underpaw a little something, what he minded is when the damn thing ran half way across the savanna before it had the decency to just give it up and die, and to add insult to it all, it was bloody damn HOT!
The white lion whispered a thank you to whatever God was listening when he slipped into the shade of the forest, pleased to get out of the beating sun. He made his way directly to the small stream that cut under the trees. With a grunt, he threw his kill down off his shoulder and bent to duck his head into the cool water, washing out the blood and dirt from it, having missed the lioness laying in the shade a few feet from him.

Yofiel perked up at the sound of someone approaching. It could be a good thing or a bad thing, afterall. The lioness was always alert, being a born and raised rogue, most of the raising being self done was besides the point. She did not want to be sneaked up on and when she spotted the source of the noise she prepared herself to move, quickly, if need be. She could be in pridelands, and that could get her chased.
Otherwise, she doubted she had much to fear from the male that was carrying his kill. Yofiel was rather surprised when he did not seem to notice her. Either his nose was not the best, or the kill was that fresh it didn't let him smell past it. She cleared her throat politely. That way he would know she was present and not be alarmed. She hoped he was not going to turn and take a swipe at her or anything.
"I did not realize I would be encountering such a handsome male when I decided to enjoy the shade here." She gives a friendly smile to the male, making note of the markings on his back leg. "I am Yofiel, to whom do I have the pleasure of speaking, My flowery friend?" The lioness stood and stretched, trying to seem unconcerned, but also Yofiel's intention was to show that she could leave if things went sour.

He'd just gotten his head out of the water when he heard the very feminine voice address him from behind, flowery friend.. now that was a new one it brought an amused chuckle from him, one he gave voice to while he shook out his deep violet mane.
The large white male did not seem overly concerned that he had not noticed her, or that she had the advantage on him. He was either very foolish, or very confident in his ability to protect himself. Looking at how his muscle rippled under his fur as he moved, or the lithe way he did, she could guess it was the latter.
Turning to look at her, he paused for a moment, the gave her a rather charming smile, his voice as deep, and as dark as the woods surrounding them, "It is a pleasure to finally meet you Yofiel. I am Tam Lin, welcome to the Groundling Forest. I've been waiting for you for a very long time."
Well, well little Master Vormund. It would seem your vision are true.

Yofiel watched the male with great interest. He was very attractive in looks, but she knew by the body language that that much confidence and strength usually was not a friendly combination. He would be good for a bit of fun, but not a mate. She gave an inward sigh at that. She should not be disappointed, and she knew it. Males were not very likely to want her as a mate, and they certainly were not likely to do so if they were as this male, aware of how strong and attractive he was.
A bit of fun would have to be enough. Then again, a bit of fun would probably be more than worth it with this male. "Tam Lin, hmm? Flower seems more accurate, but then, one cannot choose the patterns on their fur, I guess." She grinned at the male and approached him further. "I appreciate the welcome, though I truthfully only came for the shade your trees offered. Meeting a handsome male is just an extra perk of this forest it would seem."
He must be a child of a god or a blessed of one. Yofiel had seen such before and they were creepy with how they knew things before they happened. Not that they were not usually nice lions regardless, but they still were creepy. She kept the smile on her muzzle and nuzzled the male's cheek. "A Seer, are we? Well, what is it that you were waiting on me for exactly? One would not expect you to wait for a lioness you did not know already unless you have a very good reason to do so. It makes me wonder what that reason is."

So she thought he was the Seer, how very fortuitous that was. He certainly would not confirm, nor deny her assumption. It would, after all, be highly rude of him, and it was very ungentlemanly to be rude to a lady you intended to...wrestle around with as the young Master so quaintly put it.
" No sweet Yofiel, it was you. Your dark marked eyes could not be mistaken for another's. As beautiful and exotic as they are." His voice had dropped to a low, rumbling purr as he returned her nuzzling with some of his own, his tail coming up to twine around hers " and there are many other... perks of this forest as you would say. As to the markings on my fur, come and I will show you why they are there."
Turning to shoulder what had now become their dinner and not the gaggle of dancers that were about to get evicted from the rose bower in a rather rude fashion, Tam began to lead his lady fair deeper into the shadowy depths of the Groundlings territory with confident and sure steps, the waning afternoon sun causing dappled light to play over his silken pelt.

Yofiel knew that silken tone all too well. She used it on more than a few males herself. She had to grin at the male using it on HER. It was an interesting turn of events for sure. The lioness chuckled and her eyes twinkled with amusement. "Such flattery is quite a refreshing change, though I do have to wonder if you think I will protest with how charming you are trying to be. Let me set your mind at ease. I am quite willing for company so long as you are willing to make it fun."
Yofiel was happy with the return nuzzling. It showed the male was not afraid of a bit of contact at least, though she paused at the tail twining and looked back with a raised eyebrow. She had never had anyone do THAT before. It was rather strange to have her tail caught up by the male's. It put her a little off balance to have her tail occupied, but she managed to walk along side the other lion well enough. And when he shouldered the kill and let her tail go, she moved to help him with his burden.
The lioness looked quite smug as she insisted on helping with the weight of the kill. "I am thinking you might wish me to stick around for a bit. I can spend a little time, but not too long. My paws are meant for traveling no matter how tempting the offer of company." She licked his cheek and kept walking in stride with him, hoping he would not insist on taking the whole weight himself. He already had himself overworked once carrying the thing. If he was to have energy for their visit, he might need to relax.

Tam smiled languidly at her, his eyes glittering," I can assure you lady my company is always fun, and I am always this charming." Weaving them through the underbrush he didn't seem to mind that she was taking half the burden of the kill, and adjusted his pace to suit her smaller frame as he lead her toward his thicket.
" You may stay in my company for as long, or as short as you wish sweet Yofiel. I have no ties over you, or you over me," the white male turned to look at her and gave her a slow lick across her muzzle, " ties get so complicated, and ruin the fun, don't you think?" He purred at her softly.
Tam had stopped in front of a thicket made of woven branches, with thorns about as long as her paw guarding what seemed to be a entrance you would half to lay on your belly and crawl through to enter. Around it were blooms, large snow white roses, their sweet scent filling the air.
" Stay to the left Yofiel, and the roses will not hurt you. Do you wish for me to go first and you follow?"

The lioness had to chuckle at the male's charm. If it were not for the dangerous edge to him, he would be as charming as her dear friend Athena. But Athena was sweet and friendly. This male had a feeling of sharp dangerous strength and a pride that probably put Yofiel's own to shame. Pride was not a wise thing for a rogue, but for one with the safety of numbers it probably was not as dangerous. Tam certainly looked like his pride was not a problem.
Yofiel gave Tam Lin a return lick up on his forehead. "Ties I am sure can be fun in the right situation, but I am nowhere near curious enough about them to find out." She grinned and purred in return. This was definitely the kind of male she liked. Have cubs and she could just disappear with them, no following her to take half the litter. If he even wanted anything to do with them it would probably be later in life. He really did not seem the type to be able to put up with cubs under paw.
That suited her just fine. Of course she would have to GET cubs from this first. Her track record was not good so far. Hopefully it would change soon. She really wanted to get on with having a family of her own to raise. More just having a family period. "It is your path, let your paws walk it and I shall follow for now." She certainly did not want to try finding her way through that mess of thorns on her own the first time through. Best send the male to show the way first.

"As you wish Lady," Tam bowed to her, and taking the kill fully onto his shoulders, he slipped into the tunnel with an uncanny grace for a male of his size, and soon was gone from sight, leaving the lioness alone with the thicket of wicked thorns and the instructions to 'stay to the left'
However, once the deadly barrier was manged, the other side opened into a sheltered canopied paradise. The trees branches grew thick and close together, the ground was lush and soft with moss and grass, and a rock cliff dominated one side where a clear waterfall fell to feed a smooth pool that all around grew thick, beautiful, white roses.
Felines of all kinds sat together, some talking, others singing, a few playing, while some danced to the music they made, and there in the corner of the pool two had started the process of trimming the heavier blooms to float in the pool.
Tam was placing his kill upon a rock that looked like it was used for this purpose often, while a very pink leopardess was gathering the assembled gaggle of Groundlings and ushering them up into the branches and out another way of the Groundling bower.
A few called out welcomes and goodbyes, while some giggled with good humor, while Tam alternately growled or chuckled at them as he prepared the meat for him and his lady. Just before she left, the pink leopardess jumped up onto the branch above the pool and opened a cleverly woven net, letting go a bunch of fireflies to light up the whole thicket, then she too disappeared into the trees.

Yofiel slid through the thorns, staying to the left and trying to follow the male as quickly as possible. It was easier than she thought it would be, but at the same time, she wished it was not through thorns. She may have squeezed through tighter spots and more unpleasant ones, but she still hated the idea of getting a thorn stuck in one of her paws and not being able to travel for a while. Heat was bad enough, a wounded paw would be horrible for her.
Yofiel cleared the thorns and looked around at the roses behind and the clearing ahead. It was pretty. She got to see the last of the females disappear and wondered with a male with so many females around could possibly want her for. It was not as if he lacked company, she was sure. The kill on the rock looked tempting enough, so she shrugged away the question in her head and stepped forward to share the meal and company. It would be an interesting night.
