Laying down in a meadow near a lake Youko takes a sweet nap. Though she should be up and doing something seeing it is a beautiful day and napping it away would be a waste. She slowly opens her eyes as she then gets up and looks about. Seeing some others in the distance but unsure about going that far she bows her head down and starts to eat some of the sweet spring grass. "Hmm this is nice"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Valdien stomped his front hoof, irritated at the flies trying to slip their way under his bracers.
The day was nice; one of those rare days of spring where it was warm, but the breeze was just strong enough to cool one down when it was almost unbearable.
The stallion lowered his head to the sweet grass beneath him, chewing absently as he mused. He was here to watch over the herd, as always.
Each day, the strength of the Six grew stronger, and no one knew when they would launch their next attack. In fact, Valdien was sure that it would come any day. They hadn't had any activity in a little over a week, which was rare for the Six's Agents.
The stallion was sure that they were planning something. And Valdien would not leave his herd unattended in times like these.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Moving about as she notices Valdien standing watch. She trots up to him. "Thinking about the Six again?" She wonders as she had made a promise long ago to fight and protect her chosen for the evil ways of the Six. She trots in a circle around Valdien.
"Don't let it eat at your heart or mind. If they do something. You are not alone remember that." She then lays down at Valdien's side. She feels like she is a friend of his as she watches the others in the area. "I believe we can keep them safe."

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Valdien arched a perfectly trimmed eyebrow at the mare as she settled in at his side. He took a step to his left, standing over her protectively.
The stallion lowered his nose, touching the mare's own for a brief moment before once more raising his head to look out at the different herds spread below them in the field.
"If I do not worry about the Six, then who shall?" The stallion shook his head, his lavender mane stirred by the slight breeze. "And they have already taken my mind and my heart, dear one. For what concerns my Chosen concerns me threefold."
Valdien sighed, watching two young foals at play.
"I know I am not alone, yet I fear we do not have enough numbers to oppose the Six. Their forces are great, and they bring more to their cause every day." He stomped his hoof. "Besides, in the last two months, they have killed off sixteen of us, Youko. Sixteen who could have bonded with Chosen."━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"You know I feel sorry for the Six. Never knowing the feeling of love and to have a bond that not even death can break. It is a shame they will never know such wonderful feelings. As for the sixteen who have lost. My Heart rests with them. I hope one day they return to this world to start a new." She sighs a bit looking out as the foals catch her eyes.
Then she looks back up at Valdien only to wonder if maybe one day the Six or at least one of they would fall in love and pick a chosen. What would they do then. Protect that member of the Six or let the others of the Six kill it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Valdien nods in agreement to Youko's words, his thoughts dark.
"You're right. I pity them as well, though my anger overpowers any empathy I might have towards them. The Six will never know what it means to be loved so wholly, so completely..." Valdien's words trailed off, carried away by the breeze.
Icy blue eyes studied the mare for a moment, wondering at her thoughts. The stallion sighed, his sides expanding and then contracting as he exhaled.
"As for those who have passed...I am sure that they will be reborn, and I can only hope is it through some of our mares. If that is the case, then the Six could not hope to touch any of them with the precautions and protections we practice with the foals." Valdien raised his head, ears straining to catch a mare's whinny on the wind.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"Maybe but then that means the number of foals would raise." She hears the whinnying as well as she raises to her feet in one quite movement. Her ears perked as her eyes scan the area. She looks at Valdien. "I think I should look into that. Good day Valdien." She then trots off to where the sound came from.
Her heart racing as she looks for the source of the whinnying

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Thundering hooves signal Valdien's fast approach, and in a flash, the powerful stallion's pace overtakes Youko's, blazing by her at a head-long gallop.
Valdien extends his gait even further, stretching out his legs and ducking his head into the wind. His mane and tail stream out behind him, and the half-cloak he wore around his shoulders is lifted by the wind of his exertions.
The panicked whinny grows louder as Valdien nears the source, and the stallion neighs in response; the low, deep sound of a stallion protecting his herd.
He shoots to the left, lunging into a copse of dense trees, the branches and underbrush giving way before his muscled chest. He clears the barrier of bushes, and stunned by what he sees, drops his hindquarters nearly to the ground in a sliding stop, his hooves digging dark furrows in the ground behind him.
A mare was tied by a make-shift halter to a cracked, lightning-split tree. There, at her head, stood a man, a slender knife pressed to the female's neck.
"Move and she does, horse." The voice was filled with venom, and Valdien's sides heaved, his eyes taking in his surroundings, looking for any distraction that could take the man's attention off of the mare for just a moment.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Getting there Youko rears a bit but stays behind Valdien. She is a very pretty Mare and her markings add to her beautiful coloring. She looks at Valdien "What should be do?" She wonders as she looks at the man. Her feet unease as she moves a bit backwards.
Looking at the mare as she wants to ensure her that things will be ok but isn't sure how to do that right now.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Valdien lowered his head, speaking under his breath to Youko.
"I need you to free the mare once I distract the human. As soon as her ties are severed, fly like the wind. Understand?"
Valdien's tone brooked no argument nor compromise. He hated doing it, but he was the Guardian of the Herds, and this was one of those times where he was forced to pull rank to keep others out of harm's way.
Of course, that meant putting himself into the line of fire. Valdien felt the adrenaline kick-start his heart-rate as he thought of what he was going to do.
Fight or flight...this time, the former was the only course of action.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

She nods as she whispers back "Will do Valdien" She waits for the right moment and watches Valdien hoping that he doesn't get himself hurt. Maybe this man wanted something.
But what could it be. Why was he doing this. She didn't know. All she knew was that the mare needed to be saved and that is what they were going to do.
