Sneaking out of her new room had been a little harder then she expected. After her sister's in her clan had shipped her off to Amityville to learn to handle her mermaid heritage, Amphi had tried to keep it a secret that she was part of the deadly race. Regardless of the overwhelming amount of unusual and even deadlier races, being sheltered by her sisters had done nothing for her knowledge of other worlds. It was confusing and fascinating to see all of the different students, her favorite of course being any of the fellow water beings. She had seen sirens, Djinn and Nixes all over.
But back to the main point, sneaking out of her aquarium domed room had been harder and her body was having a little harder of a time adjusting. Even now as she walked the hallways, her legs itched for a source of water to let her relax in. As if the school read her mind, she could smell the sweet scent of water and followed it to a door with bold red lettering that said, "Swimming Pool - Open". Looking in the window she spotted the large pool filled with gallons of water and smiled, turning the knob of the door before pushing it open.
"Oh! Wow." She smiled as she hustled over to the pool and bending down her hand into the water, enjoying the cooling sensation of what she consider air to her. Looking around with no one in sight, she moved her hand and bent down, letting her legs dip into the pool. Shimmering they started to shift into her mermaid tail, the electric blue scales shined in the pool as she flailed her tail around, splashing some water. "I wonder if they do more in this room, or if its usually busy?" She said aloud looking around again for anyone.

Sirens and Djinns and Nixies, oh my! One such mythical creature was currently changing in the locker rooms off to the side of the pool, and she was unaware of anyone else having entered the large building. Not that she was really paying close attention. If there were more people lingering about with the desire to swim she wouldn't care, the pool was large, and she generally liked company anyways. She was friendly by normal standards. For a demon she was down right adoring.
Blue bikini tied securely, the marid tucked her belongings into her locker before closing the door and setting the lock. Wandering through the rows towards the showers and the pool beyond. Humming softly under her breath as she worked endless lengths of dark hair in thick braid over one shoulder. Not evening a skipping a beat with skilled fingers as she stepped below a faucet and toggled the knob with an elbow so warm water cascaded over her. Turning slowly beneath the flow until every dark inch of was soaked.
She finished off the braid as she turned the water off and made her way through the twisting walkway that separated pool from changing area, and tied the end off with an elastic band before slipping it back over her shoulder so the tip licked along her ankles and the floor as she walked. Looking up at last as she neared the pool's edge.
The humming ceased, and she paused in step as she noticed the other ghoul, head tilting gently to one side as bright eyes roamed from the back of the other's head to the glittering shine of scales that covered her legs... Not legs. "You're a mermaid."

Amphi had been so caught in the joy of feeling water on her after her first day of the school that she hadn't noticed the beautiful Marid Djinn wander her way. In fact, she was so caught up in the water, she hadn't heard the words the said Djinn had said to her until a awkward few seconds later. In slow motion her head raised to look up at the dark skinned demon. Her eyes registered the figure, her mind was a bit slower as shock set in. the first being to see her in mermaid form.
"Oh my Jack." was all she said as she flailed into the pool, her arms swinging around a bit before she half dove in, it would've been elegant almost if she hadn't crashed into the pool like a dead weighted body. her side smacking into the water with a loud slap that caused said water to fly up in a huge spray before swallowing her under. Once the pool calmed from the disturbance, ripples subsiding to leave a clear view of the bottom, Amphi peeked her head out and stared at the djinn.
"A mermaid yes." She bubbled out before warily staring at the Marid, "and what of it Land walker? Do you hunt the mermaids here?" Amphi splashed away, she had heard of land walkers customs against mermaids, and though again some where deep in her mind, it registered that why would a demon, especially a perfectly fine specimen such as Yaya want with a mermaid as a trophy. But better to be safe then sorry.

Liquid blues widened as the other ghoul disappeared beneath the water in a series of flails and splashes, the delicate point of her chin tilting gently to one side. Curiosity radiating from every fine feature. Had she really startled the poor ghoul that badly? "My apologies," she offered as that pretty head broke the rippling surface of the pool, the ghost of a smile easing slow along her lips. "I didn't mean to startle you." The least of her wishes in fact.
The questions the mermaid asked of her had bright eyes blinking in surprise, and she would have thought the ghoul was joking had her face not looked so very serious. "Hunt? Goodness no, why would we ever?" A smirk graced dark lips at the name, but it was gone in the blink of an eye. "This is a school, there is no hunting of the students within." Not by any enrolled or watching over. The same couldn't be said for the beings they met on those wretched field trips, but that wasn't a topic to share today.
A giggle came from the djinn, though it was barely audible, and she offered the mermaid a bright smile in greeting. Walking forward at last to kneel at the edge of the pool. "I'm Hadiyya, or Yaya if you like, and you're new." It wasn't a question. She'd never seen this ghoul before, of that she was certain. A face like that she'd have remembered.

Amphi waded the thin layer of air and water in the pool as she continued to watch the demon. Her eyes glued on the girl. "I'm sorry as well." She said quietly in response to the demon's apology. She shouldn't feel like she needed to be on the watch all the time. Her sister's had told her it may be to soon for her to go to school but...then again, if Amphi didn't learn all that she could...
"Oh..." Amphi felt really stupid now, the girl was being so nice after being accused of hunting mermaids. She felt really bad now. "I'm...I'm sorry again." she whispered before hanging her head, "It's just that, I am new to the land, and I have only heard stories from since I was young. The academy is a safe place then?" her head slowly peered more over the water as her tail fin kicked her up higher. "Ah, Being a land walker is harder then I thought." Amphi sighed before swimming closer. She was still hesitant but... something about the Marid's easy nature made it easier for Amphi to relax.
"What a pretty name." She smiled back before nodding, "New to the land and New to the School yes. It is my first time socializing with a landwalker!" She eye'd the girl's clothing before taking a breath, "I am Amphitrite, but Amphi for short. I belong to a mermaid clan that worships the Pisces Star goddess. It's very nice to meet you." She said awfully politely. "I shall be staying in the monster dorms for now." She cocked her head, "You are one of the demon races yes? I've always wanted to meet a demon. Do you guys really ave people that sacrifice goats to you for dinner?" The question was completely random, thrown out of hte ball park as Amphi looked up at Yaya hopefully.
