The rain wasn't letting out.

It made Alunite grumpy - his way too long hair was soaked, leaving trails of water wherever he went, to say nothing about the damn skirt.

And the fact that leggings did little to stop water.

But these were only annoyances, and he had to overlook them. He had things to do, really. Fluorite was out there, just as drenched as he was, and so he would do the same.

Even if she hadn't been a few blocks away, he would still be there.

Earth wouldn't save itself, after all.

Still, even with the rain, some people were still foolish enough to wander alone. Right now, they were easy pickings, and he was taking advantage of that. The woman had managed to scream before he'd dragged her into the alley, but had stopped when his hand went to her mouth - and then that wasn't needed as an orb of energy formed in his trembling hand.

Gathering energy didn't come easy for him. Was it the same for other senshi like him, he wondered ?

Though, right now, he hoped no one had heard her scream. He'd finish this, put the woman somewhere safe and dry where she would wake up safely, go back to Fluorite, and call it a night.

Camelot wasn't sure he liked being out in the rain in this get up. he didn't have a hat or a coat, and it felt like water was pooling in his boots and under his already heavy chain mail. The fabric on top would probably hold a lot of water weight.

At least his shield was good as an impromptu umbrella. If not a bit leaky.

Holding his arm over his head, he was just wondering if anyone else was having these kinds of troubles with the weather, or if he should just suck it up and deal with it. Then he heard a scream pierce the air and felt a strange tingle in his mind like nothing he had felt before. Granted, he didn't know what many of the auras he picked up on really were, or the true differences between them, but this one, at least, felt bad.

Coupled with the scream, his hero complex was flaring and he was running toward the source of both.

"Release her!" Camelot yelled once he reached the end of the alley. He had his shield in front of him and his eyes glued on the young man giving off the terrible vibe. He clearly had taken the energy from the woman on the floor, and Camelot assumed the worst of the corrupted senshi for that. His face was set in a scowl and he advanced slowly. "Back away from her."

He was a knight, damn it. He could do this without the usual doubt. If only his subconscious knew that.

He managed a decent-sized orb before he let go, knowing now that it was better not to risk it. At least for him.

He was just about to go to phase 2 of the plan when he was loudly interrupted. At first, there was confusion - why was an agent...

Wait.

This wasn't another of the negaverse. The feeling wasn't right. The man wielded an object, but... The feeling was wrong. It didn't match a senshi either.

So what was this ? Alunite had no damn idea, but he had... more pressing matters.

The orb was quickly wisked away in one of the pockets of his sleeves. "Okay, okay, jeez." He threw up his arms in the air, took one step back. "Stop freaking out, man. It's just a little energy, she'll wake up fine !"

This wasn't all bluff - Alunite certainly didn't see what the big deal was. He had been on the reverse before - sure, it wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't like he had jacked her starseed !

One step forward for Camelot meant one step back for Alunite... Until he had the man just where he wanted him. "Umbra Eclipse !"

Another step back, and another... and then Alunite's form rippled and he was gone, invisible - his definitively recognizable aura widening to cover a much larger area, with no true source.

There was no way to tell where he might be, exactly.

Camelot saw a flash of color and a glow before it vanished. The energy the guy had taken? It wouldn't be surprising. He wasn't too sure of the technical details, only that they stole energy. Not how they did it, or why, or if it could be given back once taken out.

He just knew he didn't want to let this guy get away with it more than he already had.

It seemed neither of them quite knew what to think of the other. It was tense, at least for Camelot, but he tried to look certain of himself. He hoped his size and age might leave the impression that he was more credible and dangerous than he looked.

Experienced?

When the other vanished, however, Camelot looked absolutely baffled. They could just disappear? He moved forward immediately, to where Alunite had been, but it seemed he wasn't there any more. He looked down at the girl next, still tense and shifting his gaze in case the... whatever he was... was still nearby.

He knelt down to check the woman's pulse, and see if she was harmed in any way.

"Come out from where ever you're hiding!" He called, hoping that he was talking to thin air. Avoiding a fight because someone ran away was certainly more favorable than having to fight, wasn't it? Even in that moment, Camelot wasn't sure he believed the idea.

One... Two... Three...

Now unseen, Alunite moved to the side, and let the baffled Camelot pass him by. He moved as silently as he could, though his magic only masked him from sight and muddled his energy - it did little to make any sound he made vanish.

Four.... Five... Six...

He could run - it might even be a good idea. The dude wasn't a senshi, certainly wasn't on his side, and decked out in armor of all things.

But if there was one thing Alunite hated, in all spheres of his life, it was being interrupted when he was working.

He moved again, toward Camelot, who was checking out the woman. Her pulse was still intact.

And his back was to him. How convinent.

Seven... Eight... Nine...

Running might have been a better idea, but he didn't. Oh no, he was going to teach this dude a lesson alright.

"Hasn't anyone told you meddling was rude ?"

Ten.

Alunite's energy signature was back to being clear as crystal - and he was still right behind him.

With his elbow reaching to hit Camelot in the mid-section and hopefully send him crashing against the wall.

Camelot was busy tending to the fallen women, shielding her from the weather and trying to make her comfortable before he called for an ambulance, or something. He wasn't used to this part of the rescuing. Or any part of it, really.

When he heard the voice he tensed. Not gone! The Nega, or whatever he was, hadn't gone and Camelot didn't know where he was. He stood from where he was kneeling, tensing and looking around but the gap was so small between when the sentence began and when the energy signature came back into 'focus', as it were, that Camelot could only turn right into the blow that sent him thudding into a wall.

He grunted, realizing very quickly and with a rush of fear and adrenaline that he really had no idea how to fight.

As a kid he had been a brawler, much like his son was now. He used to pick fights with anyone who was conveniently close enough, whenever the mood struck him.

But those had been years long gone by.

Now, he often got himself into situations against youma or nega, but his fighting was mostly 'swing cane at' and nothing more tactical than that. Now he was in an actual, true blue fight. And he had no idea what to do. His eyes fell to the girl, making sure she was out of the line of danger. Once he was sure she was safe, a half a second of distraction, he charged for Alunite, swinging his arm. Pain pulsed through him when he moved but he couldn't focus on bumps and bruises now.

He wasn't aiming with his fist, though it might have looked for it. He was hoping to hit the guy in the face with his shield.

Matthew Desmond had never been much of a fighter, unless you wanted to count shoving kids that made fun of his sister in lockers. He was slowly learning, though - but slowly learning wasn't going to cut it for long.

Sure, he'd planned Camelot hitting the wall - but not much beyond that. Where was he supposed to hit now ?

He didn't get to ponder this for too long - next thing Alunite knew, he had a face-full of shield to deal with. Shield meet nose, actually, and when he rose to apply pressure on reflex, his fingers came away covered in blood.

Slightly more useful than a cane, one could say.

This only seemed to enrage Alunite further - he did his best to ignore the pain, and instead charged Camelot once more, fist aiming for the stomach this time around.
PostPosted: Mon May 23, 2011 4:02 pm

Camelot almost let out a cheer of surprise when his shield slammed into the other's face as planned. He pulled backwards and got his bearings, ready for a counter attack, and saw the blood running down Alunite's face. Blood he had brought forward, yet he still had the urge to apologize for it.

He really wasn't used to fighting anyone. Just monsters, who couldn't tell him they felt it. Was that any better? Were youma some kind of powered up animal equivalent? They turned into dust, not bodies, which told him they were creations, not life.

Still.

He shoved down his feelings of regret and anxiety, he focused on the fight at hand. Which was good, because he now had a stomach slamming into his gut. Chain mail was good for deflecting sharp things, maybe, but not so much for padding against punches. Still, he didn't imagine hitting it felt any better than him getting hit. Air whooshing from his lungs, he stumbled back, bringing his shield in front of him.

He had to think, but it was hard when he couldn't catch his breath.

As long as that woman was unconscious on the floor, this area was Camelot's to protect. He had to drive the bad guy out, and he couldn't give in. He charged, shield first again, hoping this time to drive Alunite back into the nearest wall and pin him there. Maybe get another good punch to the guy's face in. as he charged, though, he tilted the angle of his shield. This was on accident, so it wasn't flat. There was the edge was leading the attack, which might have been a good tactic if he had actually meant to do it.

This was something that Alunite was slowly becoming aware of. Punching chain mail did, indeed, hurt. This was a little unfair. He was wearing a skirt and this random a** dude got chain mail ??

Something was wrong with this picture.

The pain was wearing him down quickly, even as he was doing his best to ignore it. His nose was throbbing, as did his fist.

But not yet. ******** that s**t he wasn't done yet. And he definitively wasn't failing for the shield again, ******** that s**t.

Alunite threw himself back when the shield came toward him, letting the punch fly above his head - then tried to kick at Camelot's feet to have him fall on the ground.

The end result was still mostly what Camelot had planned, through - he was back against the wall with no-where to go. If Alunite missed now, he was definitively in trouble.

Camelot, less than gracefully, saw the kick coming and tried to jump over it. It still managed to knock him off balance, though. He had momentum on his side and he slammed into Alunite, pushing him back against the wall.

"I don't want to hurt you!" He yelled, panting for breath as he moved to pin the enemy a bit better. He felt strength in his muscles, more than he had known before, but he wasn't sure how strong his opponent was. His leg was buckling as well, at an odd angle. He wasn't in the best position, and if he got hit again he would fall over.

He growled stubbornly, though, trying his best to hold his ground when all he really wanted was for the fight to end. Maybe sit down for a while, get an ice pack.

"Get out of here and stop hurting people!" A gallant effort to correct a bad behavior, but not effective. He already knew that those who fought on the Nega side of things couldn't just be told to stop. He would have to make them.

But there had to be a better way than this.

"Im not hurting them !" Christ, was mister tin can dense, or something ? "She's gonna wake up and won't remember a damn thing of what happened and go on with her life, the ******** so hard to grasp about that ?!"

What was he ? Could he be made to understand that he was aiding outsiders who would take over Earth if given the chance ?

Too bad Alunite was too upset and in too much pain to make the attempt.

Another kick sent Camelot tumbling, and Alunite rolled out of the hold, making his way back on his feet. He was leaving a trail of blood in his wake. That realization only made the pain more vivid.

"Watch her, if you don't trust me. She'll wake up." He spat, and then he leaped on the dumpster, then the roof, and ran as fast as he could.

Fight scenes looked much easier in anime, really.

Camelot frowned. Draining someone of their energy until the point of unconsciousness and then leaving them in confusion the next morning might not count as hurting them to these guys, but for the Knight it was more than enough. Hell, waking up from a hang over and not knowing what he did or what might have happened was bad enough.

He could only imagine what this woman might wonder about, waking up exhausted in an alleyway, soaked to the bone and not remembering how she had gotten there, or how long she had been lying there.

There was more than one way to hurt a person, and Camelot didn't like any of them, particularly considering people weren't just batteries to be harvested for their energy.

"That does not justify taking her energy in the first place! It's not yours to take and you have no right jumping people and dragging them into dark corners, terrifying them and forcing them into these kinds of situations. She'll have no idea what happened to her! You think because she's not bleeding or dead that makes it okay? It doesn't. You're still hurting people. You just don't want to see it."

He was speaking with some difficulty, struggling slowly to his feet. He was tired and sore, but at least he wasn't bleeding like his opponent. Who was getting away, but Camelot didn't give chase. One, because he was very battered and doubted he could make it up to the roof without some difficulty, and because he didn't want to leave the woman alone.

He kneeled down next to her, breathing a sigh of relief and checking on her again. He called an ambulance for her, then left when he heard sirens, scurrying off and powering down when he was safely away.
