Name: Leslie Warwick Nickname: Warwick [his preference], Les, Gumby Age: 23 Birthday: June 19th Sign: Gemini/Cancer cusp Gemstone: Aquamarine Blood Type: O- Fav. Food: Beef stew Hated Food: Cole Slaw School: N/A; Warwick is a street performer and an acrobat. Hobbies: Get down, get down - Warwick is fascinated with break dancing, whether this be watching it or joining in. When he spots performers in the subway or at a park, he pretty much always stops and offers up whatever cash he can afford. At several points in his life, during low festival seasons, he's been known to hop in with local break dancing crews to pick up some cash, frequently as the only white guy among them. He's not as good as most of them, but he makes up for lack of talent with an easy sort of humor and a touch of acrobatics that mostly covers it up. Scalable heights - In his youth, he was interested in rock climbing and tree climbing, hiking through the woods and scaling the roof of his childhood home. In modern days, it's progressed into the realm of parkour. As an acrobat -- and one who's been training since he was rather young -- he is fascinated by the idea that he can take any route he can pull off to get from one point to the other. This results in a lot of scraped knees and shins, sprained fingers, black eyes, and rattled heads, but shockingly few broken bones. Warwick is careful. Mostly. Make 'em laugh - Warwick loves comedy; movies, standup, stories, and also the act of making other people laugh. A group of people clustered in a pub, telling each other hilarious stories, is just about the best time he can possibly imagine -- outside, of course, of performing in front of a large crowd. And making them laugh, of course. Virtues: I like to move it - An incredibly physical and kinetic person, Warwick takes easily to athletic endeavors, especially those that involve dexterity and control over his own body. Add to this around fifteen years of acrobatic training and he is a very graceful person, confident in his movements. He is agile and fit, quickly picks up new athletic skills, and makes use of these to earn his living. Never a bad word - Warwick has a good attitude that is frequently tempered ever further with liberal amounts of decriminalized drugs. The result is someone cheerfully [and somewhat obnoxiously, at times] optimistic. Bright and energetic, he is almost constantly working to bring the people around him to the same state, and is always willing to lend a hand to someone who's sad or down. Breaking his happy bubble takes a serious effort, and Warwick's own low points are usually brief and quickly forgotten before he moves on. The Golden rule - While he may not believe strongly in the importance of specific laws, or in the value of authority, Warwick's moral compass is extremely strong. There is good: helping other people, being friendly, sharing when you can. There is bad: hurting other people, taking advantage of the weak, stealing. His credo boils down to 'if you're doing damage, don't do it', and he sticks strongly to this. Yes, yes, yes, and yes - If you're looking for someone willing to go jogging with you, that's Warwick. If you're looking for someone to go see a movie, or go out to dinner, or try octopus for the first time, or juggle live kittens, he's probably down for that too. Warwick always wants to be doing something, and he frequently doesn't care what that thing is, so long as it's entertaining. He's not intimidated by the strange, and is in fact rather drawn in by new experiences. He's travelled extensively, and will likely travel again at some point, but for now, he'll take the small adventures he can get. Flaws: Just can't sit still - A passion for movement and adventure comes with a serious downside: Warwick finds it very difficult to sit still and focus for any reasonable length of time. His attention span is more or less non-existent; unless a movie is thoroughly engrossing, he has a hard time focusing on it for the full length, and is more likely to step in and out of it and do other things. Intense conversations make him fidget and bounce, easily drawn away by the smallest of distractions. This makes him terrible at information gathering, at book learning, reading or writing or teaching. First rate sucker - Warwick's struggle to make the people around him happy is a knee-jerk reaction, stretches him thin, and is easy to take advantage of. He is somewhat blinded to the fact that not everyone is a good person, and not everyone is being honest. He starts out with trust instead of distrust, making him gullible and easy to draw into traps, and it takes a considerable amount to slam it home that someone has gone bad. I'll handle it tomorrow - Disorganized as he is, small things tend to slip through the cracks in Warwick's life. He is irresponsible, and frequently things that should be important get filtered to the back of his mind and forgotten, or put off until some non-existent time in the future when he's planning on taking care of them. Naturally, then they come around to kick him in the balls. Oops, he was supposed to get a permit before performing in the park. Oops, he forgot to get his license renewed. Oops, he only has ten bucks in his wallet and can't afford that round of drinks he just ordered. Why so serious? - or not, in this case. Warwick has a very, very hard time having serious conversations or dealing with serious problems, and never seems to realize when it's a bad time for a joke. For him, laughter solves problems, and he's a firm believer in hoisting yourself up by your bootstraps and forcing good humor. He can't quite get a handle on real problems, and offers short-term consolation instead of long-term solutions. Frequently this means that he makes problems worse instead of better, and ends up sticking his foot in it. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Eyes: Faded ice-blue, usually smiling/friendly. Hair: Even Warwick probably doesn't know his natural color at this point. He dyes it too often. This year, it's a faded red with streaks of black, blue and green in it -- peacock colors. It's cropped short on the sides and longer in the middle, tousled up into a spiky faux-hawk. Face: Long and sharp, planar, with defined cheekbones and a somewhat thin, wide mouth. His ears are kind of big. His skin is well-tanned from the sun. Clothes: He leans toward comfortable shirts and pants that he can move in, and that fit relatively close to the body: shorts, khakis, jeans, t-shirts, thermal shirts, turtlenecks. He might also be seen in full-out strappy punk regalia, for special occasions -- torn and strappy, with clunky boots, fishnet. Other: Warwick has a lot of tattoos: The most important tattoo is across the back of his right shoulder, old and faded; at first it seems to be some kind of wildcat, arched back and hissing mouth. After a moment, like magic, the word pops out and into focus -- 'Reese', his brother's name. Beside this, stretching down his arm, a half-coiled snake turns to the flowing shape of a river, intertwined lines forming fish. There is a gem at the inside of his wrist, a diamond cut.
His left arm starts with tendrils of smoke at the shoulder, combining to a solid black band around his bicep, the ink broken by a smattering of skin-colored stars. The stars become stronger, turn to the shape of a necklace wound around his wrist. There is another gem here, on the inside, this one more circular.
The tattoos across his back begin as stalks of grain, slashing diagonally into a mess of knotwork. The bottoms of the stems are crossed swords. Settled among them, at the small of his back, is one spiral rose, with a scattering of highly-stylized flowers around it.
Wrapping around his left hip is a sleek, bright-eyed fox. It's still rough, outlined, unfinished. His other hip is bare, but above that, across his stomach, is a sharp-edged, stylized tree that follows the shape of ribs below the skin. On his chest are two very black hand prints that look much like someone slapped paint-covered palms against his skin.
The animal's tail circles down his left leg. Below that is blank canvas; his right hip equally bare. However, his right leg is spiralled with stylized shapes that might, in a different life, have been letters and words. They decay rapidly into tribal shapes.

Knight Title: Uluru Page of Earth Challenge: Time for you to take a tumble! Uniform:He should definitely be wearing a kilt; not plaid but a solid color, pleated. Something as simple as a wife beater, or a fancier version of the same, would work up top. A lot of belts would be rather excellent. Leather. Hunting gear. Soft-soled boots. Fingerless gloves. All should be in ruddy reds, green and pale blue, like the countryside surrounding Uluru: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c1/UluruBaseTrees.JPG/450px-UluruBaseTrees.JPG Here's an excellent example of the kind of kilt I had in mind, though I'd like some more pleats: http://www.yourdressmaker.com/shop/bmz_cache/4/49de5d77ed67a461fad0e6c1aac8c259.image.225x450.jpg Generally, way back when, kilts were just a huge long swath of fabric that men carefully folded themselves pretty much every day. Hardcore. Weapon -- Page - A small ring, carved with runes. It could be used to block attacks, maybe, if wielded effectively, but not much else. Squire - Now, it's roughly hula hoop sized -- just large enough to encircle a single person. In battle, he can toss this around someone and put them in a ring of protection that prevents anything from entering or leaving the circle. This includes the person he's protecting and everything they carry with them, meaning that they can't attack from within the circle any more than someone outside can attack them. So long as he stays near the ring, around arm's reach, he can hold this protection for a good minute. If he moves away from it, the time is decreased significantly. Knight - His ring is large enough for two, now, meaning that a second person could be protected within its confines. This would give an opportunity for them to administer quick first aid or catch their breaths in the midst of a battle. He could also join an ally within its bounds, but doing so leaves him tired and drained when the protection goes down again.

Some random facts:Warwick is from Australia and is almost certainly in the country illegally at this point. OOPS.
He has an older brother named Reese who he used to tour with. They had a terrible fight [over a girl] about six months ago and split ways.
When he meets people and makes connections, Warwick likes to add them to his book and keep in touch. Sometimes this means calling frequently, and sometimes once a year.

OK here we go! Don't know how helpful I'll actually manage to be but I'll try!!
first thing I noticed is an observation and not a crit: I've noticed the staff tends to have pause over people with the parkour skill. Parkour/Free running is REALLY FREAKING COOL, no questions, but it does raise flags when critted because it gives the character an advantage over some of the other senshi and negas, ((and a hella lota flash.)) I do like though that you've mentioned that while he's got practice, he's not a shining star, free of mistakes, and gets his share of bruises, bumps and the odd contusion. I'm curious to know how he'll apply this under pressure, and if being in an actual combat situation where he doesn't necessarily have the time to plan things out may give him a little more 'school of hard knocks' training than he ever anticipated. Could make for some fun roleplay, and some dings to the ego.
I also really like "Make em Laugh" and wonder if he combines this at all with some of his dancing performances. He sounds like quite the showman and thats kind of fun.
I think your virtues and flaws are nicely related, and I personally always like to see a merit with a flip side ((yes yes and yes/can't sit still)), because that (to me!) feels very realistic, proving that few things are cut and dried, and I like that his tendency toward irresponsibility can occasionally get him in trouble.
I was a little confused by the title on "Like a Violin", though I get where you're driving. Is it his general upbeat attitude that makes it harder for him to see that other people don't follow his moral code of not hurting people? And if he does realize that someone's taken a much darker bent, does he beleive they can be redeemed, or that they just need to be stopped? If he believes in redemption, will he always take that road, or will there potentially be times when even he has to admit defeat?
Does he have an accent? XD
Also I love the juggling rings, those sound like a blast!

When I put parkour in, I was a little worried it was 'too cool' for someone to have -- but since he is an acrobat, and one with a little bit [read: a lot] of ADHD, I just can't see Warwick not getting into it some. However, he lacks the attention span to be really good. I think it'd help him get from place-to-place as a knight, but I seriously doubt he could use it to any kind of advantage in combat right off the bat. Maybe after a while, he can learn how to use it. Someday. IN THE FAR FUTURE. like when he's a squire/knight.
He definitely uses "Make 'em laugh" in his performances. Most of his tumbling acts combine aspects of humor into the acrobatics; you know cirque-style clowns that have a tendency to fall all over their own feet but do it gracefully and intentionally? That's more Warwick's style that perfectly executed beautiful stunts. He is silly. Clown-like.
"Like a violin" is because he's so easy to play: he trusts people, and it's easy to take advantage of that. I renamed it "First rate sucker" -- maybe a bit more clear. He forgets that not everyone plays by his code, and when they do, he's more likely to stop interacting than hunt them down -- unless what they're doing is terribly wrong. He is definitely more redemption based than anything else. He's an optimist. Everyone can be saved eventually.
...and yes, he has an accent. XD Though it's probably very faded by this point. He left home fairly young and has spent enough time traveling that he can probably amp it up to be very heavy, but usually it's more muted. Still there, but subtler.

ON THE CIVILIAN:
Works for me. Consider framing that last flaw a little more negatively, but it is still stampable.
ON THE KNIGHT:
Why the kilt? The natural wonder is from Australia. I'm just trying to see the reasoning behind him having a medieval-Scott-Irish look.
The weapon right now is too much like a Negaverse weapon. Knights are supposed to hold timeless things that go from being simple to detailed to ornate. (We clarified this in the updated Knight thread, if you need more information on it!) So while I think it would definitely make sense for him to have one simple silver ring that grows into a less simple hoop that grows into a much larger hoop makes sense, I think you'd have to nix the three juggling rings. The move from three to one is just throwing me off, even if it is a minor note.
If your heart is set on him going from three small to one big, it would be okay, so long as the notation is made that these are not the rings you'd find at a modern circus but are more like the kind an old street performer might have held in the past.
The magic works, I think! At squire, I think that it would be a balanced move if being totally protected by his ring also prevented someone from moving at all -- a positive and a negative. Otherwise, I think it is too OP that he can 100% shield someone. So I'd switch the "or" to an "and" here: shielding them from outside danger or locking them within its bounds.
For his Knight stage, how could someone prevent him from casting this? At squire, they could just toss him away, but I wonder how it would be managed if he hopped inside with an ally for protection.

Wooo, yay!
For the kilt -- well, he's a knight of Earth, and the vibe for that is supposed to be celtic/medieval/scott/irish, I thought? XD perhaps I'm a bit confused, but I thought their costumes were based on the planet more than their own personal background. I could play around more, in that regard, but at the same time I don't actually want him to be AUSTRALIAN DUDE IN AN AUSTRALIAN OUTFIT/one-note thing...so I'd much rather this than the other!
For the weapon -- I'm fine with it being a ring to a ring to a ring, so I can edit that no issue. I can balance it out, too. I tend to go under with power, so I thought I'd push my luck this time and see what I could get away with, lmao.
I'll play around with adjusting his knight side some. <3

Quote: Earth -- Celtic, medieval; the Shittenou and Endymion can also serve as references. Yeah, a kilt would fit under the Celtic banner. It just had not occurred to me after looking at the general style all of our existing Earth knights have. Kilts came around in the 16th century, but the original kilt was more of a full body thing, apparently. Not sure how that would affect the styling. Anyway! Kilt is fine. Good luck on revision.

Added a sample image for that, and also reworked his powers some/reduced to one ring! Hopefully it's good to go now.
