So I just got back from my boyfriend's house and we were making out and messing around a little, and we started talking about different positions and whatnot. We're both virgins and while I'm ready to have sex, he's not, so I'm fine with waiting until he's ready. Then he asked about a**l sex and what that involves, etc, and then that got me thinking.

If I were to have a**l sex, would I still be considered a virgin because the p***s would be going in the a**s rather than the v****a? Like it can be used as a loophole with the whole virgin thing? Also, I know about protection; Unfortunately I'm not on BC pills but we do keep a stash of condoms at his house just in case we decide to have sex.

Ah, this question. It's basically a matter of interpretation - "sex" means strictly p***s-v****a intercourse for many people, and for others it can mean intercourse, oral sex and a**l sex (which is my thinking as well - it's called sex for a reason).

So I personally would be inclined to say that if you've had a**l sex, then no you're not a virgin because you've done a sexual act. However, the word has different meanings to different people, so what really should matter is how you and your partner interpret the word.

Like Nikolita said, the definition of "sex" and "virginity" varies. Some people consider "p***s in v****a" to be the only way to lose your virginity. Other people consider p***s in v****a or p***s in a**s to be sex. Others consider sex to be any genital/genital or genital/a**l contact (whether male/female, female/female, male/male, or outside the gender binary) . Others consider any sexual act with another person to be sex. I personally consider sex to be genital/genital or genital/a**l contact.

But either way, they're just words and labels. No word or label perfectly sums everyone up anyway and there will probably always be some debate and some grey areas. So if you have a**l sex, most people will not consider you a virgin, and I will be one of them. But when it comes down to it, you're welcome to define sex and virginity however you want, and you're welcome to use whatever label (or no label) that you want.
