Why did life have to be exhausting?
Slumped shoulders, eyes sunken in, a slight limp; all of these things indicated that the lone girl dragging her tired body down the street did not actually feel up to whatever she was doing. It had been a long week between school finals and prepping for prom, then there was her day job that was very quickly picking up from part-time to full-time, and on top of that her real job... Her life was more than a full-time anything.
A part of Chromite envied some of her fellow soldiers-- Those in the group that had made the final decision to quit school and family and live solely for their Queen. A choice that Chromite wish she had the balls to do except that she really didn't. Oh, she always justified that it was in the cause's best interests that she finish school and form a loose career to better infiltrate the regular world. To better further their goals and protect the planet from those that would take it from it's rightful people... She couldn't even properly monologue in her head tonight.
Finding a clean spot on the sidewalk to sit herself down on she took stock of what she'd done tonight and any passing injuries. Chromite was exclusively taking on pimps and dealers but with that came the threats of concealed weapons and men that knew how to fight back. Not that it ever made a difference.
She was just tired enough that even though the innermost parts of her being argued against it-- She could honestly say that if a senshi or any other silly "do-gooder" came upon her she wouldn't have the energy to fight them.

Niflhel was walking the streets occasionally having to avoid the ladies of the night. As they seemed attracted to the clothing he was wearing. Niflhel frowned rubbing his face, either in embarrassment or from the sheer mental headache that last loose woman gave him. He paused when he started to pass a Negaverse officer. At first he was going to pretend he didn't see her, but on second glance he knew her and she also looked hurt.
"Looks like you got in some sort of a scrap." He mused wondering what her reaction would be. As he stopped and faced her back, leaning on the wall behind him.

"No. Just spreading myself thin--" the answer was out before she'd even thought about. The voice sounded familiar but upon looking up she found she didn't have a ******** clue what or who she was looking at. There was a definite power signature, an aura pulsing quietly outwards from him, but that was it. He didn't really look or feel like a senshi... And from all her experience senshi didn't stop and ask questions first. They issued demands and then proceeded to beat the hell out of you.
Ugh.
Setting herself more on edge then she already was she narrowed her eyes at the intruder. "I don't know what you are," she said quietly. "But if you think it's pick on the tired Negaverse soldier day you have another thing coming. You hear?"

"Sounds like fun." He said before tilting his head, he'd noticed she seemed to have realized something. He looked thoughtful as her eyes narrowed on him. "Oh?" He looked at his uniform and then back to her, "Well, you know I'm not a senshi." He said with a chuckle.
He frowned, "Why would I do that?" He asked when she accused him of picking on her. "You're not hurting anyone that I see." He looked around to make sure there wasn't a body laying somewhere. "So, I don't see a need in actually trying to fight you."
He shrugged, "Unless you want to fight. Then I suppose that might be different." He eventually sat down beside her.

She bit the inside of her cheek when he sat himself down next to her, but didn't move. He'd already said that he had no intention of harming her and thus far she didn't see any reason to completely distrust him. Looking down at her palms she shrugged. "Yeah, no. Not even remotely interested in fighting a damned thing right now." Smoothing her skirt with her palms in a fidgety sort of way she looked over at him and then back at her lap. "So thanks I guess."
Sighing in a half-hearted way she sucked up her Sorry-for-Chromite feelings and turned to actually address him. "So. Established that you're not a senshi... So what the hell are you exactly?"

Niflhel watched her curiously as she fidgeted. "Well then, you don't have anything to worry about." He smiled, "If you were actually hurting someone I'd be obliged to stop you, however, you're just sitting here so..." He trailed off and gave a shrug of his own.
He grinned, "No problem." He paused when she turned to address him. He smiled, "I guess you could call me a page." He gave another shrug, he saw no point in actually hiding it. They'd figure it out sooner or later, they weren't that dumb, they just weren't always nice.
He looked at her, "Why does the negaverse do what you all do?" He countered with a coy smile, "I mean I know you guys tend to rip out starseeds on occasion or drain energy? Which seems to be a new trend... What I don't get is why you do it." He felt it only fair if he answered a question he got to ask one in return. Scheelite at the point they had talked instilled the thought that the negaverse thought themselves as heroes and the senshi as heroes. This left Niflhel with a problem, while he'd help the senshi he wasn't going to outright fight the negaverse unless he had to. Generally speaking he would expect he'd have to a lot, but getting some information on their cause would be nice too.

... A page. Clearly taking the time to think about she sorted it out in her head and then looked over at this page again. Chromite had read more than enough fairytales in her lifetime to know that pages eventually became Knights and everyone in the Negaverse had heard about Lina in some form or another at this point. "You'll eventually become a Knight then," she answered with a slight smirk.
Well, wasn't that interesting.
Shrugging at his answer her eyes became hardened nonetheless. "Energy gives us the fuel needed to further our cause." It seemed obvious but at the same time she was equally as clueless as to what the Knights were doing. Apparently they thought the Negaverse was some kind of horrible evil and she shook her head with the thought. "Do you know who I used to take starseeds from? Who's energy I collect now?" She asked it matter of factly and answered before he could venture a guess. "Child molestors. Rapists. Pimps and drug dealers." She held her palms open and glared at the building across the way as though somehow it was all the fault of that particular shop or whatever. Taking in a deep breath and sighing it out she still felt as though a levy somewhere in her chest was about to burst. "As far as I'm aware my fellow soldiers take on the same types of people," she answered quietly. "We take on the crime and the corruption and the evil that walks these streets every night praying on the innocent and we get called the 'bad guys'. Where are the police, hmm? What about those damned Senshi, where are they when a child dies of overdose or gets stabbed for their lunch money?"
No, Chromite wasn't bitter about anything at all.

Niflhel watched her as she spoke, he nodded. "I figured as much." He said softly, "At least from books it seemed like a logical progression." In of itself, it was. He'd read too many fairy tales to not know. However, "How did you know?" He asked curiously his head tilting.
He let her talk and nodded, "I know a few of your kind that haven't. They've targeted innocents with no proof of them being drug dealers or child molesters, or even rapists. Even those kind enough to offer to walk them home at night, unaware that they could be falling into a trap." He paused, looking at her, "It's different to actually act on those who are harden criminals than those that prey on the others."
He paused, shrugging softly, "I don't know, I do know the senshi seek to save lives. Perhaps, somewhere a long the lines you two have gotten you're signals crossed and there's become a misunderstanding." It seemed logical, Niflhel. "Or perhaps, the senshi would rather those harden criminals be turned into the police, even if their energy had been drained. Really, it's better to get them off the streets, but is it better to kill them in the process? If they were in custody of the police perhaps more could be taken down."
Niflhel was looking at the information in an objective sort of way. "Every drug dealer has to get his drugs from somewhere right? While it's nice to remove a problem from an area, a new one will replace it if you don't cut the head off the snake. Right?"

Chromite shrugged, "I figured it was just a natural procession. Like the Knights of the Round Table or something." She wasn't ashamed at all to acknowledge she read fairy tales. No matter what her uniform said she hoped it was still obvious that she was still just a teenaged girl. Though with everything happening in the city lately she could see where it would be harder and harder to tell anything. The average teenager in the world didn't have powerful alternate identities.
Biting back her reaction to just reach out and slap the page for suggesting any such thing about the members of her family, she held her hand at her side and shook her head sadly. "I have a hard time believing that," she said firmly, "but it's not worth arguing. It's true that I don't know every single member of the Negaverse, so it's a possibility." Still though, still... "It's not fair though to just assume an entire group is that way based on the actions of a few members. Every family has black sheep, yes?"
Shaking her head even more firmly she clenched her hands into rigid fists. "So you know where the senshi get their names and powers from? Other planets. They prance about talking about how everything is for the sake of the Earth when they're true allegiance will always be to other worlds. Aliens. It's an invasion with a pretty face and everyone just goes with it." She sighed and tried her best to make it as gentle and non-dramatic as she could. "If there's a misunderstanding, that'd be great, but I don't think that's the case."

Niflhel watched her curiously before nodding softly. "Yes, like the knights of the round table." He smiled with a grin, it was nice to run into others that knew such thing.
He leaned back watching her curiously, he nodded, "Yeah I'm not judging, if I had wouldn't I have attacked you first without sitting down to talk?" He tilted his head honey brown eyes watching her curiously. He nodded in agreement, "I know how that is."
He paused watching her curiously as she talked, giving a slight frown, "And what of knights?" He tilted his head, "If we protect the planets around us as well as Earth, what does that make us?" He seemed curious to hear her thoughts on that.
"Mm.. well always hope for the best," He said with a nod, "Even when you don't think it looks that good."

The answer was the simplest yet, and as Chromite opened her mouth to respond she placed a hand on his shoulder gently. "I'm sorry," she said honestly. "It makes you misguided fools." She didn't mean anything remotely malicious by it and her eyes demonstrated that as she looked at him sadly. It was just a fact as far as the Lieutenant was concerned. Patting his shoulder and then removing her hand she placed it back in her lap with a sad smile. Again, she was fidgeting.
"I don't know what else to tell you," and she turned her plum eyes to look up at him. "But I can swear that I will do my best not to come across you on the battle field?" She posed it as a question and hoped, sincerely, that he would agree and promise the same. As far as Chromite could tell it wasn't the Knights they needed to be fighting, they were just under the wrong impressions and impressions were always able to be changed.

Niflhel lofted his brow and started laughing, "Perhaps it does. Though, I'd rather be the court's fool than a king any day." He was playing on Aurthur's court. "It makes me less of a target and better able to help those whom I deem to need it."
He watched her curiously as she said she would do her best not to come across him on a battle field, "Indeed, and I shall try my best to avoid you as well. However..." He paused and looked at her, "I do have to say, I am obligated to stop you if I happen to see you hurting a civilian. Unfortunately my duties won't allow me to turn a blind eye to that. Though other fights I may sit out and watch."
He flashed a smile and a simple shrug. "Perhaps we'll meet again? I think though, for now there's a coffee shop somewhere; with my name on a cup of white-chocolate cappuccino." He stood up, offering her a hand to aid her in standing up before he would depart leaving the Lt to her vices.

"Thank you," she said it quietly. As though she was going to get caught at any moment talking to this knight, and be punished for not attacking or killing him. Her eyes darted up and down the street as she thought about it, but she took his hand and let him help her up anyway. Laughing, she held her hands behind her back and closed her eyes at the mention of coffee. "That cappuccino sounds good.." Opening her hands and feeling the weight in her pocket, afraid that it would jingle just barely and alert him to what she'd been doing to make her so tired... Well, she smiled and nodded. "I have parents and sleep to get to. It was a pleasure meeting you." She didn't want his name. She wouldn't be giving him her's.

Niflhel nodded, "You're welcome." he gave a smile, well at least she wasn't killing anyone tonight. He gave a nod, as she said that a cappuccino sounded good, "It's very good, they'll add whipped cream and shavings of chocolate if you want."
"Sleep well." The page gave a nod and smiled, "It was a pleasure meeting you as well." With a quick bow he was headed off down the street for that cappuccino he'd mentioned.
