She bounced down the street, smiling and humming to herself. Another successful escape from her house under her belt. She hopped to and from the curb, kicking up her converse. Her mind was occupied, and she walked casually into an alley after making sure no one was about, pulling out her pen and muttering her power up phrase. She bounced out of the alley Sailor Grus, Senshi of Feathers. She smoothed her skirt, admiring the feather pattern. Maybe this senshi thing wasn't too bad. She frowned slightly "But I have to many questions!" Se sighed, arching her arms behind her back in a volleyball stretch. This senshi thing was proving to be more of a workout than she anticipated. Combined with volleyball, she was slowly gaining extra muscle, and her serves were a good indicator of that. They flew farther and truer. If only fighting were that easy...

Her frown deepened, and she hopped up a fire escape and onto a building top. Maybe all she needed to do was practice. Or maybe she needed to surround herself with people who could fight. She shook her head violently, jumping to another rooftop. There was no way she was going to hide behind people her whole life. What if they weren't there some day? But maybe one of them could answer her questions...

She chose to dangle her feet over the roof edge of the Destiny City Bank, watching the doors and ATM closely. There had been a couple robberies in the night in the last couple weeks. Grus was hoping this was one of those nights.

The Page of Camelot was at least getting more used to the power up process. Suddenly wearing an outfit he had never bought and certainly had never made, but fit him like a second skin. It was not something he needed to get used to in that regard: he was comfortable in the chainmail and leather immediately. Just the idea that these clothes appeared out of no where, and he got a little wooden shield with it, was a bit baffling to him still.

Where did it all go when he powered down?

Of course, before all this happened, Tony was beginning to adopt a 'don't ask questions, just accept things' attitude toward life and things in general. So many bad and strange things happened in his day to day, he was learning not to be baffled by them, but to just go with them and do what needed to be done. But this? This was nothing he had ever expected. Being attacked by a youma or a Nega was one thing.

Suddenly being able to fight them?

Now he really wished he had done as he said to himself so many times and actually started going to the gym.

Camelot was walking down a street when he felt a familiar tingle. Not as big or attention drawing as Themis' had been, but maybe that was because he was further away? Or the senshi was a lower level, as it were. He looked around, not able to pinpoint the location just yet, eyes wandering until he saw feet on a roof nearby.

"Hello up there!"

Her mind had been wandering for a bit before she was found. Wandered back to the other night, standing in a field with an almost stranger, talking about the negaverse and her powers. He had made her feel better about being a senshi with a defensive move and the unwanted avoidance of fighting.

She sighed and fell onto her back with her feet still dangling over the roof edge. Nifhel had been so nice to her...

Her closet romantic was very quickly interrupted though, by someone she hadn't heard coming. She pushed herself back up and peered over the edge at someone below. He seemed to be wearing a Medieval costume. The way he had spoken did not seem to be threatening. The familiar tingle of a Knight was a welcome thing. At least it wasn't an enemy. But he was ruining her plan to catch thieves.

"Hello down there!" She replied cheerily, waving. "Have we met before? And more importantly, are you able to get up here? I kinda have a plan going that requires the street to be empty."

Eyebrows lifting, Camelot looked around to make sure no one else was watching. Not because he thought it would cause trouble if they were, but because he didn't want to be seen scrambling up to the roof. He was not too used to doing these kinds of physical things, though now it seemed he was more capable of doing them.

That didn't make him good.

He did manage to climb up a pipe and haul himself up to the roof without falling or needing any help. He dusted off his medieval gear and looked up at the senshi with a smile.

"Nothing to it!" he said, breathlessly. He cleared his throat, then tilted his head in wonder. "You mentioned a plan that required the street to be empty? What are you up to?"

He moved a bit closer, offering her his hand. He was very comfortable with senshi now, it seemed. He knew he could trust them, and had no trouble offering them every kindness he had ever received from one of their kind. He smiled brightly at the younger woman.

"My name is Camelot, but the way. I don't think we've met before, but who knows? It's a very small world. And an even smaller City, it seems sometimes."

She watched him climb up to her location with a little difficulty, and she considered rolling over and getting up to help him. Climbing rooftops was easy for her, but she figured Knights didn't get a little boost like senshi did. But he managed to get up onto the rooftop, so she remained where she was until he got close enough to offer his hand.

She stood and shook out her skirt before taking his hand with a sweet smile. "I'm Sailor Grus. I guess you are a Knight huh? Since I've never heard of a star or planet called Camelot!" She looked down at the empty street, saying "I'm waiting to see if any robbers come around. There have been a couple break in attempts at this bank. I'm waiting to see if the people show up so I can stop them."

She casually eyed the newcomer up and down He looked quite a bit older than herself, and quietly she wondered if there was an age limit for Knighthood. His outfit definitely fit the wonder of Camelot though, complete with wooden shield and everything! Her eyes wandered up to his and she said "You look like you stepped right out of the Medieval times!"

"A Knight? Well, I suppose so, if that's what you've heard. I ah... haven't been able to figure out what my... title... is, besides Camelot. And that came to me from no where. So I was hoping the rest might," He laughed bashfully, shaking his head.

At least now he could say he was a Knight, and not be unsure about it. He certainly looked like one, so that worked out in his favor.

"Break ins?" He hadn't thought about regular crime. Was he meant to protect the innocent from themselves? Civilians had the same capacity for cruelty that anyone else might have, after all. And they killed one another just as readily, for much sillier reasons than what compelled senshi and nega to fight one another.

Sometimes for no reason at all, in fact.

"I'll help you with your stake out, then," he said, smiling, "if you don't mind. Ah. Oh? You're right, I do. It is kind of strange, and I'm still getting used to it." he tapped the wooden shield. "I'm not... I mean, I just sort of got thrown into... all this."

He was sure she understood. From what he knew, Senshi just woke up and bam. They were in it.

Grus nodded, "Wakkata." She said the phrase without thinking, then realizing he might not know what it meant, she said "That means -I understand- in Japanese. I totally know how you feel. I only recently... awakened...woke up? ...found out who I am?" She struggled to find the right phrase. It wasn't as if someone had given her another piece to the puzzle.

More like she had found a piece to the puzzle that she hadn't realized was hiding under the table the whole time.

She shook her head and smiled "Well anyway, I just found out about my senshi side when a youma kidnapped me. So I was thrown into it too!"

"I think you are a Knight." She went on to say, glad to find someone who knew less than her. "You don't feel like a senshi, or Negaverse. Or even that one that felt inbetween..." That one..Alunite was it?..still confused her. He was both, but neither.

"I don't mind if you help!" She continued brightly, "I like to help people, so people helping me is just as good! And maybe with you around it will be easier if they show up." One small girl wouldn't be very scary to some thugs, but maybe a small senshi and a bigger tougher looking Knight would.

It was no life threatening youma, but helping the police every once in a while was Grus' preferred patrolling. Since her father was a police officer, she figured she was helping him out personally by catching bad guys. Or thats what she liked to believe. She found out from him about the robberies in the first place.

It was a good thing she had clarified, as he was ready to give her his best blank stare until she had. He nodded his head, though, once she told him what the word meant and laughed. He hadn't understood how to say I understand. He felt a bit silly.

"Ah, good. I mean, it's rough, I know that now. I knew that before, but I had never imagined... you just get thrown into the deep end. It's unfathomable that every senshi and knight had to do this. How did they ever know what they were doing?"

At least he hadn't been kidnapped by a youma. He had just been defending against one attacking his friend.

He nodded his head and looked down at the street. He wasn't sure anyone would come by, but it might actually be fun to stop trouble like this, and not have to worry about anything mystical. He was still new to it, on this side of the fence, but he had all his experience as a civilian as well.

Dealing with normal bad guys might be nice.

"Do you do this often?" he asked, keeping his voice down just in case anyone came by, "go after regular criminals, I mean?"

"Well regular criminals are a lot easier to deal with I think." She said, staring out at the street while absentmindedly playing with a strand of hair "Because all you have to do is show them that you have magical powers, and they usually give up. Or run away. Plus," she added, looking back at him with a smile "I think the police and other people would be happier if we good guys just kinda did little things. You know, stuff that doesn't damage their town."

The news reports of fights bringing entire streets to a halt had shocked Grus, especially when she was just a civilian herself. How could the good guys let so much damage happen? Weren't they trying to protect the city?

"It's nice to take a break from magical things that grow massive arms or spit fire and just catch a thug that is taking what's not his. It feels more like your a superhero from the comics!"

She paused as someone came whistling down the street. Her muscles tensed until they walked right past the bank, not even glancing at the ATM. She sighed in mild disappointment.

Camelot nodded his head as she spoke. He could easily see that they would be easier, regular criminals. Though, if they had guns it might even the playing field a bit more. Even with super powers and magic and strange little items, he doubted getting shot would hurt any less.

But he was always a bit of a worrier.

He chuckled, shaking his head.

"I don't know. The police aren't too fond of... us... in general, I think. No matter what brand we are, we're all criminals or vigilantes, which they're not exactly keen on. They either think we're causing all the trouble, or we're ruining their reputations and ability to do their jobs by helping them. Or at least, that's how it felt before, whenever I read the news or watched the TV reports." He had been more immersed in the life of a senshi than he wanted to admit, but at least it helped him wade into the deep end a bit more.

He already knew some of the basic rules, after all, even if being a Knight was different, and he was still getting used to all the very strange changes that came with this new Camelot alter ego. At least he knew that these things existed, that there was a war going on, and that he was now a part of it. It was more than some newbies had going in, he imagined.

"I think I agree with you. You might find me out on your turf sometime in the future, catching some bad guys," he smiled brightly, "providing there are bad guys to be caught. At the moment..." he watched as the person on the street walked by without looking at the bank even sideways, "it doesn't look like there are."

But at least the company was nice.

Sailor Grus nodded in agreement. "When I watch the news, they're always saying how much they don't like us, and how much damage we cause, and how we're a -menace to the town. I don't think that's a very good image for a group trying to stop Chaos."

She got a curious look, then said "As a matter of fact, it seems to cause more Chaos. And the world could use a lot less of that."

She leaned back again, the street empty once more. She was half hoping the person wouldn't show up, just in case he was the ornery kind that she would actually have to fight. But she also didn't want to sit on top a building all night, or waste Camelot's time thinking there was something to be had here. Luckily, it was a weekend, and she didn't have volleyball the next morning, and her homework could wait until she actually slept.

A small yawn escaped her, and she covered it quickly, hoping Camelot wouldn't find her rude. "So what's it like being a Knight? Do you guys feel super powerful? I know us senshi and I think the Negaverse get like, a speed boost when we are powered up. It's nice when I patrol after practice." She paused, laying flat on the rooftop, staring up at the sky.

The older knight nodded his head thoughtfully. The senshi did have a bad reputation, and he imagined Knights would have the same. There was no real distinction in the media between any of the sides, after all. They were all the bad guys.

"You're right. I try not to take the tone of a story into account whenever I'm looking up stories that might be senshi related. I would rather just have the facts, not the impressive amount of bias they managed to fit in to the stories. They can get away with it, because most of the city thinks that way too."

He sighed, shaking his head. It was a wonder, though, that normal people still lived in this place. How was it not simply comprised of senshi, negas and now knights? What kind of crazy person lived in a place where they were attacked by monsters all the time?

Crazy people like him, he supposed.

He looked at her when she questioned him about being a knight. He looked pensive, then shook his head. He opened his mouth to answer, closed it to consider things again, then tried again.

"It's certainly different. I feel stronger than I was... er... am. Definitely. I've got this shield that seems to be a part of this whole thing. When I first... powered up... this shield came out of no where and when I touched it I found myself like this. Camelot."

He found himself laying on his back as well, looking up at the sky. "Another knight I met said that some of us represent different planets. I don't feel any differently to space, but I think that's because I'm from Earth."

He was just babbling now. He hadn't really gotten a calm moment to talk about things. Usually there were youma or negas involved, at least so far. He watched the stars, knowing from a past lesson that Senshi were connected to space, and their names were significant to that.

He almost forgot they were supposed to be watching the street for trouble.

"What about being a senshi? I know you have those skills you can use. I don't think we do. I mean, I don't."

It was nice to have someone to talk to. Someone who understood this side of her world.

"When I first powered up, a cat came out of nowhere and gave me a pen." She leaned up on her elbow and pulled the pen out of the pocket that was hidden by the folds of her skirt. She shook it a little and offered it to Camelot. "Don't know where it came from, other than the cat spit it up."

Ever since she had awoken, Grus had spent all of her time fighting, either with them, or against them...

Except for Knights. Both of the Knights she met were inclined to talk. "Your from Earth? Well, I guess that makes sense, considering Camelot was on Earth. The other Knight I met said that he was supposed to protect Saturn." She said, a lazy smile spreading across her face. "His name was Nifhel." She closed her eyes, and thought back to her previous encounter with the dark haired Knight and his bright orange eyes...

She was shaken from her shoujo daydream by Camelot's question.

"Being a senshi is all right I guess. I wouldn't know if it was better than a knight, though being part of the negaverse doesn't sound to great." She grimaced, feeling remnant pain from her encounter with Lt. Mica.

She frowned a little at the latter part of Camelot's question. "Skills? You mean like our powers?" Her daydream inspired smile faded. "I don't know who decides what powers we get, but I have a bone to pick with them."
PostPosted: Sat May 28, 2011 10:09 am

"A cat... gave you a pen...?"

That was certainly odd. He had no experience with how senshi came into being, though. He had heard they awakened, but beyond that the process was fuzzy at best. He had never seen a cat do anything but scratch or sit around. Mostly sleep.

Taking the pen, he looked at it in wonder. It must have worked much like his shield did, though it didn't look like it could actually be used in battle. When she said the cat spat it up he looked at her with a doubtful expression, nose wrinkling a bit as he shifted his grip on it and offered it back, holding it now by two fingers.

"No, I don't suppose either side has it particularly easy. It's strange to think, but we're devoted to our ideas of right and wrong, and they are, too. You and I are their bad guys, when we are so sure we're the good guys."

He frowned thoughtfully.

He shook his head. He was already doubting what he was fighting for and he had only just begun fighting for it. Or rather, how inclusive that fight might be was where the doubt sprang up. He opted not to expound on the subject, though, looking at her with a curious expression.

"You don't like your powers, then?" He ventured. Not too hard to jump to that conclusion, considering the face she was now making and the way she had spoken.

"Yep. A purple cat gave me that pen, and it turned me into Sailor Grus. Seems pretty ridiculous, doesn't it?"

She took the pen back, and put it safely back into her pocket. The whole thing was a couple months ago, but it seemed like yesterday that ********* was in front of her on that rooftop, telling her that she was a Sailor Scout.

"Maybe one side's been brainwashed." She said quietly. "Or heck, maybe both sides have been brainwashed."

She didn't know what they were fighting for. The only thing she had been told was that the Negaverse was responsible for all of the youma that were wandering about the city. A city that was still heavily populated.

Castille doubted that if people knew how many magical kids were really in the city, it would quickly become a ghost town.

"My power sphere is feathers." She said morosely. "What in the world am I supposed to do with feathers?"
