Kaleidoscope was beginning to think that some jobs just weren't meant for knights. Here he was on his day off from training trying to do a good dead and he was getting absolutely no appreciation for it. Granted he could understand where this bird was coming from, but even so couldn't it understand that he was just trying to help? He had been walking along in the forest when a small baby bird came tumbling out of the tree in front of him. Whether it had been trying to test it's wings or been shoved out by one of it's siblings Kale couldn't be too sure, but he couldn't let it just stay on the ground where a predator could easily snatch it up. So he had gallantly moved to the tiny avian, gently picking it up in his large lips and attempted to place it back in the nest.
That is when everything had gone wrong. The mother bird chirped and came down upon him in a flutter of feathers and beak. Luckily for Kale it was a song bird and therefore didn't have any large talons, but even so the small bird had a mother protective nature, determination and a relatively sharp beak to content with. Though the bird continued her assault Kale was even more determined to get the bird to safety than ever. Stretching his neck as the mother came in for another attack Kale lifted his front hooves off of the ground giving him that extra bit of height that he needed to reach the branch. Setting the baby bird down upon the branch beside the next Kale was then quick to move away from the tree, the mother bird ensuring he did so with a few more attacks thrown his way before returning to her nest. Casting a glance back Kale watched the mother bird usher her chick back into it's nest before returning her eyes to him making sure he wasn't going to return.
He gave his head a shake and began to walk into the meadow that lay ahead. A few fresh scratches ran along his muzzle but otherwise he left the encounter unscathed. He wondered what his mentor Ironforge would have said if he had have watched the scene just then. Kale let out a small chuckle thinking it would probably be some random comment about his technique but otherwise say nothing either positive nor negative about it.
