User ImageFon Youn's gait was a jaunty trot as he made his way through the pride following a very interesting night spent with his mentor. The evening before, just as the shadows were falling, he had seen the shadowy figures of two loa. The shadows themselves had formed their shapes. It had been quite unlike anything he'd ever experienced or been instructed to expect to experience, despite all the training he had had after showing an aptitude for a poupe's life, and he had spoken for a long time to his mentor trying to make sense of it. They had not reached a firm conclusion yet what his vision had meant when the moon reached its zenith, but they had agreed to meet again the next evening, or sooner if it happened again.

In the meantime, the irrepressible adolescent had permission to do as he wished for the day, though whether this was intended to be a reward for developing an unanticipated ability or as something else it was unclear. Fon Youn didn't much care either way. He was simply pleased with the world and they way it was going. He thought he might pay a visit to his family's shrine, just in case the power was something he'd gotten from them, and then he wasn't sure what he'd do with his day. There were so many possibilities!

Fushide held the precious bones closely to her and pawed the loose claws and teeth closer to her pile. She was very pleased with her collection for she planned on catching a spirit with the trinket she was making. It was only time she would visit the loa and do the deadliest dead a caplata could. she wanted the power to be hers the spirits to have her most treasured soul.

She had been preparing herself for that day for a long time and she wasn't gonna give up now. She was a old member in this pride and was for the most part very solitary, she kept mainly to herself. Most encounters she had didn't go well with her quick tongue and bad temperament. Many called her a venomous old hag yet she was still young and had a great reason for being the way she was. Growing up this was the only way she knew how to treat or behave with others, ho could she know any other way.

Fon Youn's jaunty pace slowed to an almost sensible stroll when he caught sight of the vibrantly colored lioness ahead of him. He recognized the fuschia coat as belonging to the caplata Fushide and decided that nothing would spoil his day quite like an unpleasant run-in with her. She was a strange creature at the best of times, and if she was busy at the moment he might be able to just slip past her without having to deal with anything nasty. He was in a good mood, and he didn't want to deal with nastiness today.

His gait switched once more from a stroll nearly to a slink as he drew even nearer. It might have been simpler just to put off visiting his ancestors' altars, but Fon Youn's general attitude of irreverence did not extend so far that he neglected his family. He was grateful to them for making him so wonderfully talented and intelligent and handsome, and made sure they knew it. He wasn't hugely devout or inclined to leave enormous offerings, but they did know that they were appreciated, and that should be sufficient.

"Ah, good day ma'am," Fon Youn drawled as he realized there was no way he could pass her without attracting her notice. "Just passing through here. It looks like you're busy, so I won't keep you."

Fushide's head snapped at the young male who dare interrupt her thoughts at such a time like this. It was the young male poupe, what was his name again?...oh yes Fon Youn. How could she have forgotten the cocky little no good brat. She loathed his attitude, as though he was the most needed thing in the pride. she hated young kids, let along arrogant ones. "How dar--" Her words came to an abrupt halt as she soon thought of something. This young poupe was often used for attracting the loa or spirits. she got up with a wide grin spread across her face. Her black eyes looked him over as her sleek pelt circled him and her sly thoughts worked quickly. She could use him, yes indeed, she would have to use him to lure the spirits to her. She often was only nice to those she was using to get something out of them. "Actually you came at the right time young Fon Youn...yes..I need you to do something for me" She said with her voice dark and sly. They seemed to seep with poison waiting to infect anyone's ears who was listening.

She walked in front of him and stared into his eyes with her own pleading eyes. A grin still on her face. She would use him to test the loa and spirits and try to find one that particularly suits her. She almost had all the items she required to build the grand item. The grand item that would capture and harness this loa for her personal keeping. she would use her silver tongue on this male till she had the trinket ready to capture the spirit to do her bidding when she wanted. In fact she wanted to do something rather deadly dangerous. She wanted to capture a petro loa, a loa that most bokor or caplata's sold their soul to for power. However she didn't want to sell her soul she wanted to capture it. She would show mama it herself to, a great accomplishment indeed.

Fon Youn held still as Fushide grinned and circled him. He held very still, actually. At first he thought it would make him seem less uncomfortable, and then it occurred to him that she wasn't an idiot and was probably trying to make him uncomfortable, so there was little point in pretending to be anything else. At that point he began to turn in a tight circle to follow her movements. Fortunately he reached this conclusion before she was behind him, so there'd been no point at which he couldn't see her. He felt a little better for that.

"Is that so?" he asked.

He actually had to reach for his drawl, even though it usually came to him as naturally as breathing. He'd been cultivating it for most of his life, after all, and so it really was more or less his natural way of speaking. Many of the pride's adults shook their heads over the fact that the only thing he'd ever started and stuck with was a ridiculous fake accent that served no purpose. But Fon Youn thought it made him seem, well, cooler, and he wanted to seem cool as much as possible.

"What is it you need?"
