We've had a large influx of new guildies lately and we have had many different opinions on downloading or pirating as a result.
I want to know, as each individual of the guild, your opinions on this matter.
We have been sharing links for quite some time now, and I'd like to see if you believe that we are cheating Gaga, or if it's not a bad thing at all. Explain your reasoning, and let's keep the flaming level at a nonexistent level.
Of course, I respect both sides, but I believe that pirating isn't such a bad thing when it's shared amongst a community like ours. I don't upload songs to third party sites for fun and spread them all over twitter. The law gives those that do it the label of being a "criminal," which sounds a tad bit overwhelming to me concerning the circumstances. On top of that, I do pay for most songs that Gaga puts out. Call me lame, but I also have the propensity to sometimes just download songs for free, and most of them are not Gaga's.
I'm seriously not made of money, and I love tons of artists. You can also call me cheap, but I don't want to spend over $1,000 for the archive of songs that I have.

I think a solution would be to PM it to people you genuinely know to be active within the guild. A lot of people use their guilds just for benefits.

I think it is ok to do I have bought cd/remix she came out with if I wanna upload it and share a link with the guild its ok its not like thousands are getting that cd.Some people have different reasons why they Dl some wanna hear what that are buying before they buy it.Some simply can't afford it some might not have a credit card to buy off of Itunes Some people have parents that think Gaga is satanic and cant get her music any other way etc.
In regards to the new album being spread lots of us in this guild have already pre ordered it so why can't we listen to it early if we want to? Some people are annoying you aren't a true monster blah blah blah.

She's fine with it, it's only five days before.
She said it's fine to listen to it but you've not to download it illegally...
You're gonna have to buy it any way.

I don't think in the case of GaGa, it's cheating. At least, once the songs have already been released in some form officially. She said herself, she is not in it for the money, but for the art of music itself, and for her fans. Therefore, I think that it is not cheating, as it allows fans who cannot afford to pay for the music, to obtain it. I myself download the entire The Fame Monster originally when I firt got into GaGa, because we are on a tight budget each month and rarely have the extra money after bills. But, two months ago, I deleted it, because I had enough extra money to be able to buy the 2-Disc album with both The Fame and The Fame Monster.
As for BTW, I currently cannot afford it, so I have downloadedthe songs that have been officially released so far. But as soon as I am, able to buy the album, I plan to do so, and delete the downloaded versions off my computer.
And here is more food for thought: I discovered GaGa while browsing about "music videos that were banned" and discovered Telephone. After the video, I was kinda meh on her, as that song isn't exactly one of my favorites. I watched Bad Romance after and loved it, but I still wasn't hooked So I downloaded The Fame Monster and listened to all of it, and I was immediately hooked after hearing Speechless(I listened to it 6 times in a row!).
Well, to be honest I do still own the downloaded version of Monster, but it's the uncensored version where she actually says the word "********"

I spent money on the preorder. I am waiting for the orignal release! Not leak is gonna ruin my anticipation. I haven't even finished my Gaga themed countdown.

I download her first two albums a while ago without paying. I download the singles on mediafire. But I don't feel bad when I download BTW singles because I preordered the album. Except BTW the song. I bought that seperately. This whole leak is upsetting me. I lost all anticipation. But right now, I'm watching Gaga-thon on fuse and they have a countdown. They makes me feel a little better.

Honestly, the links to download songs illegally are the only thing I really don't like about the guild. I love GaGa and all she does for us, and the least we could do is pay for the song fair and square.

Thanks everybody for being honest with your opinions, especially about admitting the fact that some of us have downloaded illegally before. It seems that it's obnoxiously hard to admit for some reason, and I don't know why. I wish people would be more open about it.
It's just been getting to the point where it's like I gotta pay $1.29 for a song that my friend is listening to on his computer, and I just happen to be in his room.
I'll wait for the polls to get higher votes to make a definitive decision. I'll ask Sam and the crew, too.

Well, here's the thing, I'll download unreleased tracks (such as Wonderful, Fever, and others) of Lady Gaga, I would consider that supporting. I won't however, download tracks to be on the album, unless to just tide me over. Like Hair and Edge.
Plus you know me Jeff, I support it really, but the only songs I may be putting up will be the remixes and the expanded edition, and I'm not sure if I'll put those up.
I think Gaga would actually support this since it is art for art's sake. If I was an artist, I hope my stuff would leak a little, if I didn't leak it myself, lols.

Born This Way is probably not what fans expected. After all the hype and Gaga’s odd fashion (face-horns, anyone?) and somewhat blasé attitude, listening to these tracks becomes a great reminder that she’s really just out to have fun. Her strange antics seem as though they were just an act to build hype—maybe she’s not crazy after all!
Now that she achieved “the fame,” Gaga can play around and take her fans on whatever journey she chooses—maybe that’s where the Gagacycle fits in the picture. Born This Way isn’t as deep or personal as it could be, but it showcases Gaga’s fun side and her “be yourself” attitude, which is enough even for a non-fan to appreciate.
