Marc sat staring at his most recent drawing. He was about to tear it to shreds and then decided to set it aside. It had been three days. He hadn't left the common room for anything. He didn't want to chance running into the two slytherins.
He ripped the picture out of his notebook. He set it on a stack of more Von pictures. He was purging. Everything that was Von must go. He needed to go out and eat something today. He had got by on the junk he had in his trunk for the last days.
He clipped all the drawings together and pushed himself off the bed. He kept the ones of Tabby as he had no qualms against the cat. Heading out he went straight to the Great hall. His hands holding the drawings.
Moving into the hall he sat at the Hufflepuff table. He glanced at the Slytherin table once and then thought better of the idea. after scarfing his food and handing in his homework into his professors, he headed for the door passing the trashcan he tossed the drawings in. Good riddance.

Von had searched for Marc for days before realizing that he'd been holing up in his common room. Knowing that he was avoiding her hurt more then she'd thought possible. So when she saw him that night at dinner she was thrilled but he went and sat at the hufflepuff table With a grunt she ate but when she saw him get up she lept out of her chair to follow. But as she passed the trash can she saw the drawings. She didn't know she could hurt more but now she was close to tears as she fished them out and ran out to find him. " Marc! Wait! Please." The please held the full force of her hurt. And by releasing that delicate spot within her she hoped he'd stop. If she'd been a praying girl she'd have prayed in that moment.

Marc flinched. He turned around and looked at her. His face was set in a frown and his eyes were cold as they masked all the hurt that he was feeling. He glanced down at the papers she had in her hands and shook his head before turning to start waking back toward his common room.He had nothing to say to her. And he didn't need to hear her pleas for forgiveness

Von sucked in her hurt, if he wanted to play that game fine with her. She knew she was better at it. " Gerf it wait!" Her voice was back to the normal annoyed Von as she dashed passed him and planted herself in front of him with a glare on her face. " What's the matter with you? I've been worried sick. But do you care no, guess you decided that you didn't need to tell your friend that you were alright." She shoved the pictures in his hands. " And this! No excuse. You have a problem you should have come to me not hole up in your room and ignore me." She ran her hand through her hair in a frustrated gesture.

Marc raised an eyebrow. "Oh...you want to play the friend card?" He crossed his arms. However he soon had his drawings shoved back at him. He glanced at the top picture. Just a picture of von smiling. It felt like a punch the gut. "How about you... You have to have your boyfriend break the news to me... You cant tell your own friend you have a boyfriend... So don't think your so high and mighty." He held up the pictures. "And these...I drew these of a girl i really liked.... Now i don't need them..." He tossed them to the floor. He didn't want to hurt her... but he hurt. He crossed his arms again. "So... i held up in my room... making sure i was ok to come out..."

Von's eyes turned to slits as the hurt dug in. She ran her tongue across her teeth trying to calm down just enough. " I didn't have to have Kenny do anything. And for your information I was just as surprised by his words as you'd been. It wasn't until the other day we decided to act on the rumor that had accidentally started that day. And Saturday I was in shock, I'd never thought I'd be thought of in such a way, ok. So don't through the friend thing back at my face." She allowed the pictures to float to the ground as their silence echoed down the hall. "Though if you don't want to be my friend now that you don't like me anymore" This hurt but she felt it must be done, her fingers wrapped around the shrunken guitar and she pulled it out and opened her hand to him. " I guess you'll want this back sicne you bought it for a girl you used to like." Tears had started to form in her eyes but she refused to be soft with him now. She never thought she'd feel this betrayed at least not by him.

Marc closed his eyes. "Vonali Xanthia Darix ..." His eyes opened and they had lost their cold edge. "Put that guitar back in your pocket... It was a gift from me to Vonali... Friend or not..."
He closed his eyes again and took a deep breath. "Im hurt... " He opened his eyes. "When he told me the other day... I didn't believe him... I saw you and only you telling me you didn't like me enough... I saw him kiss you... I saw you let him kiss you..." Frowning he continued. "Your hurt because i won't talk to you...I hurt because i trusted you... and i gave you... without your knowledge apparently.. a heart that you simply tossed to the ground.... Just like i tossed those pictures." He glanced at them and then back. "Im sorry....I cant watch you...be a girlfriend to a guy... who isn't me...It hurts too much."

Now Von allowed a tear or two to fall. So she was going to loose him, that figured. She silently placed the guitar in her pocket before bothering to look at him again. "When you told me you'd take being my friend over nothing I suppose that meant I wasn't to find anyone?" She paused once to clear the tears away. " I didn't toss anything on the ground, if I had, do you think I'd honestly be standing here? And no I didn't know and I told you that on Monday. Though through all this you're not the only on hurting, I guess remember that if you think of me." She started to walk past him but stopped when she was right next to him. " Guess this is good bye. I'll miss you." The tears were back and her voice was a bit shaky but she was determined not to cry here where anyone could see her. She'd made a mistake allowing him to get so close to her and she vowed never to do that again with anyone.

Marc caught her arm. "I lied..."
He turned and looked at her. "Im sorry... I don't want to lose you... I don't want you to say goodbye...."He frowned. "I don't like kennedy... but i don't like being alone with out you more... Just... let me be mad for a while." He let her go and stooped down to pick up the pictures. "Keep these safe for me?" He handed her the pictures and offered almost half a smile. A sad smile, but a smile, "Next time... Smack me... And tell me i'm an idiot..." He didn't wait for her reply. "You are still my best friend Von..." With that he made his way out of the hall and toward hufflepuff. He was going to burst into tears... and for the next duke... that was inappropriate behavior.

Von stared off after Marc her hands full of pictures and muttered. " I tried that." Her voice still not steady she quietly made her way back to the dining hall but paused at the doors. She took a few breaths and cleared the tears from her eyes and shuffled the pictures into a more manageable stack before raising her head high and opened the doors. With a smile in place she returned to her housemates placing the drawings in her bag acting as if nothing had happened, she could cry later when no one would notice her missing.
