 Some nights the pain felt like it would never end, that the hollow ache in her breast would finally tear her heart into pieces. A hoarse sob caught in her throat as eyes the colored of dried blood closed so she didn't have to see the sunset. How many sunrises had it been since she sent her beloved baby away with just a prayer? How many sunsets had she laid here aching, wondering if she would ever see the beloved face again?
Sense finally won out over grief, cause Kude to push herself unsteadily to her feet. Even from a distance it was easy to see something was wrong with the grieving lioness. Instead of a smooth rolling gait, she had a heavy limp that said running was not an option.
Her head hung dejectedly as she limped back towards the valley that her clan called home only to stop short as the wind blew towards her bringing the scent of a stranger to her nose. Red eyes pierced the failing light as she look about warily, " I know you are there...come out."
Claws flexed the dirt as she tensed her muscles. All of her life she had been an easy mark due to her handicap but she wasn't about to be made a victim. "You trespass on our lands. If you come with honor come out so I may see you. If not, flee into the dark coward."

Nazar was a little caught off by a voice. He didn't know where the voice came from that was for sure. He had been wandering in the jungle not that far away from his den. He hadn't been wandering that far but apparently it was far enough to be some where else. He wanted a break from his children and his daughter's children. He loved all of them, including his son. His son was going to make him happy. However he knew that it wasn't going to be long until he had to go back. But for now he was enjoying the jungle.
After hearing the voice he paused and looked around. Not too sure of where it was coming from. His ears twitched a few times before he looked in the direction of the voice and started to wander toward it watching the lioness.He knew he wasn't that far from home, he could still smell his scent markers from not that long ago. Weren't these his lands. He looked at the lioness. She was interesting, she looked strong, not only that but she was also really beautiful he knew that she was really beautiful that was for sure.
He smiled at her and then he walked out of the bushes. "I am no coward, and I'm pretty sure that these are my lines, take a nice sniff. It's mine." He nodded, it was pretty true. He had been in these lands for a pretty long time, keeping his hostage and not only that but also his daughter and other children. "I've been around this area for a really long time miss."

Kude's ears went back in surprise when the dark male appeared before her. His smug reply set her hackles on ends, making her want to wipe that smug look off his face. Little did she know that the anger made her dark red eyes sparkle like jewels. Limping towards a small gathering of rocks a few feet away she slapped a paw to the base of the largest stone.
"Our symbol, our lands." She all but spat the words at him before limping out of the way so he could see the mark for himself. Indeed there was a small symbol, very worn and eroded by time and lack of upkeep, marking the very base of the stones. It had been so long even the scent of the pride that once claimed these lands had faded away to nothing.
Kude sat back on her haunches, all of her weigh on one side so as to not aggravate her bad hip. That would show that smug a** who had the right to be here!

Nazar shook his head at the lioness, he had to disagree with her he looked at the symbol and sighed. "That symbols means nothing to a passing rogue." He commented simply before he started to speak once again. "Nothing at all, my family has been here for a long time to raise a family." He shook his head once again before looking behind him. "I've marked my territory and you are at the ends of it." He shook his head once again. "As I said your symbol means nothing to me."
He paused before he realized how insensitive that sounded but at the same time he was a little grumpy that she was trying to clam land with no scent markings. "My scent is fresh and has been here for a long time, you can tell." He shook his head. "I'm sorry but it's only fair." He looked at her not sure what was wrong with her she was limping. He flopped back on his haunches before he spoke to her again. "What is your name?" she asked him, he shook his head again. He was hoping the lioness understood what he was saying.

"b***h," She snapped in answer to her name glaring at him still. It was possible that the pride's lands her fallen back when...well...when the event happened but it still didn't mean she liked this smug stranger claiming to own these lands.
When he just continued to give her the same look, Kude sighed rolling her eyes, " Fine, whatever! Keep the damn lands, not like I could do anything about it anyways. You could kill me before I even got a good stance." She grumbled under her breath for a bit before speaking up once more. "Kudebona, but if you value your life it's Kude."

Nazar thought the lioness's anger was interesting and slightly uncalled for that was for sure." He knew for a fact that she was a little out of control, he didn't understand why she was so angry at him but he found it amusing that was for sure. She still seemed strong and that was important to him. Strong lionesses. "I have no reason to kill you." He commented to her not sure of what else to tell her. It was true though. He had his moments where he got angry at others however on the other hand he didn't have a reason to be mad at her.
"Kude..." His voice trailed before he started to speak to her again. "My name is Nazar." He paused and thought things through then looked at her once again. "How long have you been around here? I feel like I've never seen you around here before." He chuckled, he did look a little smug but that was because he thought she was very pretty, and she was strong and these things really intersted him.

If she had hands, she would be throwing them up in the air. Like she cared what his name was, she just wanted to know why he was spying on her! A bored/annoyed expression settled on her face as she gave him a flat look. When he asked how long she been around she gave him a faint smirk, " Awhile."
Well it was true in a sense, she had been around for quiet awhile. First as a cub, then returning nearly a year ago to rejoin others of her birth pride as they tried to put themselves back together.

Nazar shook his head he didn't like her answer she was being smug too that was for sure. He couldn't help but to be a little amused at the fact that she was also getting a little smug while she was getting frustrated, but he kept his cool, or at least kept his cool the best he could. He didn't want to get angry at her he didn't want anything to go badly. "You don't have much back up to be here for a while." He paused and then chuckled. "Or at least it isn't exactly that smart to be out here by yourself."
He knew it was true, in most cases he didn't let his daughter go out by herself, well he knew that she went out some times but he was keeping an ear out for her. He knew that it was easily because he was an over protective father, he knew that he was an overprotective father he wouldn't deny it that was for sure. "You're really pretty." He said simply to her. Nazar wasn't one to hide how he was feeling at the moment.

Kude blinked before slowly arching a brow "Uh huh...have you been eating rotten meat?" She wasn't aware he couldn't see her bad hip and leg, something that she had found turned most males away. Few ever stuck around long enough to learn it wasn't a birth defect but an accident when she was born.
"As for being by myself..." She trailed for a moment looking up at the sky before continuing softly. " I am always alone. Safer that way." True she had the friendship of her queen, but ever since her cubs grew and left her, Kude had retreated more and more into herself. If you were alone others couldn't hurt you.

Nazar snorted and then shook his head. "No." He stated smimply. Nazar really din't care about disabilities. To a point they showed a sign of strength. If a lion could make it this long with out something happening to them then he knew that they were good to go. He knew that they could make it through a lot. He didn't know many that could make it through something when their foot simply hurt for smoe one to make it through something like that was amazing to him.
He paused as he looked at her before shaking his head. "I don't understand how a beautiful lioness like you could be so okay with being by herself." He paused again before smirking. "I don't know how a male coud have already shown up and swept you off of your feet." Hepaused and then sat back on his haunches making himself very comfortable for a moment before speaking once again. "But you know if you ever need company I'm not that too far way."

Kude had to laugh at the cocky attitude as she arched a brow, " Whose to say I want some handsome male to sweep my off my feet? Haven't needed one before, don't need one now." She smirked but it was tinged with genuine amusement as she watched the dark male. It had been a long time since she had this much fun talking to a male, well other than when she tormented her sons.
"What makes you think I need the company?" She tilted her head, realizing with something akin to shock she was actually flirting back. Spirits, wait till Kurage heard about this! She would think he friend was possessed.

Nazar glanced at the female and then snorted. "Well what every floats your boat then I guess." He mentioned simply, she was a rock. It was very difficult and at times very annoying to flirt with them. No matter how hard he tried they would get annoyed or sassy and it would really piss him off. He stretched his paws out for a moment then flicked his hair out of his eyes before shrugging at the lioness's question.
"Maybe you want company, Maybe you don't. I don't know. If you don't just speak up. I don't know many who don't like company, as I said I just thought I'd offer!" He chuckled some before nodding to her. "It really is all up to you, I guess you could say. I could leave if you wanted me to."

Kude chuckled softly, "Alright, alright. " She didn't say out loud she wanted the company but she inclined her head slightly to indicate he could come sit beside her. "I must admit it has been awhile since I had any intelligent conversation."
A very long while, since the night she had been with...She quickly stopped that train of thought least it lead back to the sorrow that had filled her when Nazar appeared. She tilted her head slightly studying him, the hostility in her eyes dying down.

Nazar smiled softly at her and then nodded, he was happy to finally get the lioness to agree, he wanted company a lot. "Ah, then you should join me, we should go for a walk and settle where we can enjoy some nice water maybe?" He offered to her with a smile on his lips before speaking to her again. "I know of a nice waterfall not that far off that is normally really nice around this time of the day." He stated simply, the smile was on his face he was glad to have the lioness's company. Especially from a lioness that looked so strong and beautiful at the same time. In a way she could produce some strong cubs. He couldn't help but to let the thought go through his mind. It was one that crossed his mind with almost every female that he came across.

Kude's ears flicked back a moment when he mentioned going for a walk, not because she didn't want to but.. "That sounds nice..but it is hard for me to walk." Oh how she hated having to admit that, but if she was to be able to walk home tonight she would have to save her strength as it was.
Her smile returned as she patted the soft grass beside her, "Why don't you come sit by me and tell me about yourself. I have lived here for some time now, but I must admit I have not come out this way in quiet awhile." She wanted the company, almost longed for some intelligent conversation from someone other than her two grown sons or her best friend. The boys love their mother true, but they didn't have much time for their mother. Kurage loved her dearly, but was busy with her own life.
