Sunshine spilled through bright, green leaves, dappling the freshly cut grass beneath them with light. It was beautiful outside, absolutely beautiful... And where was he?
Rikard was inside. More specifically, he was hidden away in one of the back corners of the Hillworth library; one of the last places anyone would come looking for him and, really, that was just fine by him. He'd gotten in his exercise earlier and now he had that one last paper to finish off before finals... Before prom.
God, his head still ached from all of the dressed he'd seen the other day... But it had been worth it. Somehow. Maybe.

Often times, Zac used the off campus library, most times he found books he wanted there more often, but sometimes... sometimes he needed to get them from the school library in the name of class.
He assumed, that the teachers in question just did it to make life all the more frustrating for their students, but even if he could prove it there was little he could do about it.
He fished a book down off one of the shelves and flipped it open to make sure it had what it was supposed to, lord knew that sometimes they mis-named books in the syllabus, probably reused from a previous year or alternative class. He nodded satisfied to have found it and headed for a chair pausing when he saw a familiar silvery head of hair.
He didn't know the young man personally, but his reputation somewhat proceeded him for being, well... an a**. Zac pursed his lips slightly before continuing forward, he -was- going to take his preferred seat, if he had to suffer the vague smell of mildew that hovered about certain book sections he was going to do so in one of the few vaguely comfortable chairs that existed.
"Excuse me..." He said in polite and quiet tones as he moved past the other towards the chair.

"You're excused." The smirk could be heard in his voice even if it couldn't be seen from behind the book he'd been peering into, eyes raising briefly to glance at the other before dropping down once more as he tried to place where he'd seen him, if he ever had, outside of school.
Nothing came to mind; not immediately, at least... And then, bit by bit, little things began to filter in. Not much from this year, no, but a few things from the year before. He shifted, closing his book as he leaned forward so that he could get a better look of the other boy once more. "Zac, right?"

He froze for a moment and glanced back, the 'yours excused' and the insufferable smirk associated with it he could have ignored but hearing his name gave him pause. He nodded almost guarded. "Rikard... right?" He said though the question at the end of it was more a formality than a legitimate question.
"Why" he added almost pointedly, staring hard at the other young man with a dagger like gaze he might have a reputation for.

"I wouldn't answer to anything else." That smirk was still in place as he stood so that he could make his way closer to where the other boy was heading, head cocking slightly to the side. "Well, no, that's not entirely correct. People usually call me Rik, as it's less of a mouthful to spit out. A little less stuffy too, don't you think?" His brow quirked as he shifted to sit on the table closest to the chair, leaning back against his palms.
"Don't worry. I'm not going to shove you in a locker, or ask whether or not there's a closet you should be hiding in somewhere... I'm past those particular bullying days, myself. Doesn't get you anywhere, does it? Certainly doesn't make any friends..." A pause. "Not that hiding back in this corner really does a damn either."

"No... that is true, though on occasion it affords you a comfortable time and a quiet space in which to work." he said with a suspicious stare lingering at the almost civil demeanor.
"Is there something I can help you with? Or... " he clearly didn't -quite- trust Rik, maybe it was the bully reputation or maybe it was just that Zac was...suspicious to the point of paranoid.

"I can't imagine that being shoved into a locker, or a closet for that matter, would be all that comfortable... Quiet, maybe, but I really can't imagine getting any work at all done in there." He shook his head slowly, still watching Zac.
"Hey, hey. You're the one who came into my territory today. I should be asking if there's something I can help you with... Or, rather, I would ask that if I hadn't already told you that you were excused. Really. You look like you're going to jump a mile the moment I say 'boo'. Are you that worried, Zac? All because of a name?" Brow still quirked he wondered if the other would still be this up in arms if he was called something more familiar.

"When I find your name etched on a copper plaque and bolted to the table by the librarian I'll concede this as 'your territory'. He replied perhaps a touch more sharply than was absolutely wise.
"And no... I am not 'jumpy' because of a name. I am simply wary of intent." He said and claimed his chair before sitting down with a very determined attempt to look defiant despite his height and build.

"Mm... In other words, you're a cranky little s**t who's incapable of actually being nice to anyone unless they've given you reason to be?" He smirked, eyes dancing with a bit of mischief coupled with a side of amusement as he watched the other boy. "C'mon, Z, loosen up a little..." He hadn't quite mastered the mimicry of a certain blonde's voice, but the attempt was at least there...
As was the attempt in avoiding any sort of swing or kick that might follow, leaving him to push off of the table and hop just beyond what he hoped would be Zac's reach. "I'll work on that whole etching thing."

"Said the arrogant bottom feeder who seems to be trying to hone 'rude' into a fine and provocative ART." He snapped back and then the frown deepened, a slight startled and suspicious look crossing his features.
That -tone-...
"....You know Dem don't you."
it was a ridiculous leap to be sure, but that -tone- it was just so... maybe he was a little over suspicious of the oddest things at times

"Trying?" His brow quirked as he remained standing, watching for any change there might have been in the other boy's expression. "I don't need to try. I've had it nailed down to an art for years. It's part of my charm."
He was smirking then, arms crossed over his chest as he found himself trying not to laugh. "That would be a correct assumption. Hyper little guy; a bit crazy at times, but always the life of a party... Kind of hard not to get to know a guy like that when he stands out so much in a place like this, don't you think?"

"Trying." He repeated emphatically. "As -well- honed as your innate talents are you could still improve your... inborn 'charms'."
He made an odd sort of face as though to say 'well of course you know him, who -dosen't- know him. There were times he was utterly sure that it was a stipulation that in order to move into Destiny City... one must know Demy.
"When he DID stand out, yes I suppose so..."He conceded, still irritated at the idea of dropping out. Not that he wasn't feeling the midnight oil burning rather catching up to him these days as well.

"I'll do my best to be on best behavior around you from here on out." He brought his hand up in a mock salute, not knowing there was even a trace of irony in the situation. He might have chosen another gesture had he known that Zac belonged to the same 'secret organization' that Demetri had introduced him to.
"He still stands out, in his own way... Even if he's not here anymore. Not like those who know him don't see him around somewhere. I mean... As long as there's a Guitar Hero game in every arcade." Another smirk teased across his lips. "Kind of sucks, though, losing a roommate. Mine's gone..." The way he said it left trace feelings behind that might leave one to wonder whether or not his former roommate might have somehow passed from this world, even if that was far from being the case. Either way, it made him seem briefly more human instead of just an arrogant a**.

Zac arched an eyebrow, he wondered briefly if 'Rik' knew anything about what went on in the late hours the way he said that, but there was no good way to approach that.
"I'm not inviting you to share MY room if that's the hint there..." he said inhospitably. Besides, if someone were to 'pop in' from the late hours the last thing he needed was a room mate who hadn't the first clue what was going on. Still, watching him speak about the former room made made him wonder whom it had been and why he sounded so... was it sad?
"What happen to YOUR room mate then?" He pressed, at least that he could ask about without putting things at risk.

"Mm... Moved on to bigger and better things." He smirked, arms crossing over his chest for the moment. "Lucien was one of those kids that didn't really belong here; really didn't belong here. Smart, nice. Can't really imagine him as being the sort of criminal mastermind or idiot brute that this place tends to breed." The smile that curved his lips still wasn't quite reaching his eyes and from the way he seemed to be brushing it all off it wasn't likely he wanted to discuss it either.
"Don't worry. Not really looking for a new roommate myself. Wasn't really aware they gave us any say in that sort of stuff anyways... Doubt Luc would've wound up with me in the first place if they did give us all a choice. Wouldn't be the prison it is if we had a say either, would it?" His brow quirked.
