Amaryllis walked out into the tall grass, barely noticing the chest-high tops tickling her fur. She had always lived among forests where her father said life was easier, and maybe it was. But still, nothing in the forest could command her attention nearly as entirely as the wide and open night sky on the plains.
The vast expanse of black velvet was enough to make anyone feel quite small, but it brought a sense of peaceful calm to her. And the stars, oh the stars! She could spend the rest of her life trying to count all of them.
Her own pelt seemed to twinkle under the light of the moon, as if trying to mirror the view pressing down on it. Tonight was a new moon however, and it left the entire plains in darkness. That was alright though, the stars shed their own gentle glow.
Ryl sighed in contentment and sat, head thrown back and silvery eyes fixed firmly above.

Rai was on the move crossing one of the many forest that he had lived and or traveled threw countless times in his life. His parents kept the family in the forest and taught em how to hunt and survive in the forest. Now he was on his way back from an adventure up in some mountains where he had made friends with an interesting vixen named Aoi. But now he was to go find his older sister. She had been gone to long for their parents liking and now it was up to him to save the day, he thought irritably.
In his grumbling thoughts he wasn't paying attention to where he was going. He was ignoring the long grass and everything else till wham he ran into something.

"I know I am colored much like the sky," Ryl grumbled from her place on the ground, "but could you at least try to watch where you're walking?"
She pulled her feet under her body and pushed herself up into a standing position, resisting the urge to add a mutter about how troublesome all the bits of grass clinging to her fur would be to clean out. She had yet to turn into her father, and was determined to stay like that.
Since the male had knocked Ryl over, decorum wasn't the top thought in her brain. She gave herself a short, vigerous shake that sent little bits of grass flying from her coat. If some hit the male, so be it.
Satisfied that she'd removed the worst of it, Ryl turned her attention to the newcomer. He was as easy to see as she was difficult. That white coat stood out like a beacon! Hazarding a guess, she's say the colored bits on him were purple. Night had a tendency to bleach colors though, so they could be blues or grays, even. She wanted to give her eyes time to adjust to the earth-level lighting before she tried to figure out his pattern.

"Maybe if you hadn't been standing there staring at the sky I wouldn't have run into you,"Rai grumbled still in a bad mood that he had to go fetch his sister and his other sisters and brothers couldn't do it. He didn't see why but they wanted him to do it.
He felt the vixen rise up from under him and pull her self out. He smirked inwardly that she didnt demand that he help her up. He kind liked that. His nice thoughts about her ended as soon as she flung grass onto him than he went back to being grumpy.
He shook of mumbling "Stupid grass," before letting his eyes roam over this newly found vixen. She was right she was as dark as the sky and her fur seemed to have stars in them as if falling stars fell and landed on her fur. Her white tips made her stand out and he just kind of stared at her dumbfounded.

"I am perfectly entitled to pick a single spot to sit down and watch the stars. Not like some others I could mention, that decide to crash through the grass and pick a path right where there happens to be an obstruction, in the middle of this giant field, and not move their butts to avoid the stationary object."
Ryl's words lacked enough acid to make them an actual insult, though there was just enough energy in her voice that she didn't sound bored and uninterested. Yet another difference from her father. And if he could hear her thoughts, he'd wonder (in a dry tone) why she was even keeping count.
Ryl had to suppress and urge to sigh. She'd been looking forward to a bit of nice star-gazing, and now the taint of slight grumpiness was going to sit with her all night. She raked her silver gaze up and down the male's body. "Who the heck are you, anyway," she demanded.

"WELL forgive me for having to go off to some random place find my pain in the tail sister and drag her purple fluffy tail back home to our parents so they will leave me be. Cause she just had to go off on an adventure and not say where she was going and be gone for long periods of time." He grouched about and growled in irritation at the thought of sister. Why couldn't she just tell them where she was going so he didn't have to keep on fetching her. He wasn't a dog you know.
"Its Rai not that it matters little star stricken vixen" He said as he stood back up and moved to leave. He honestly would have rather stayed there and argue with the vixen than go but she more than likely didn't want him around.

Ryl almost snorted. "What, if your sister a kit? Adults are allowed to wander off om their own, that's why they're adults." Maybe Ryl was spoiled by having a fairly laid-back father who didn't much care where Ryl wandered off to as soon as she got old enough to look after herself. Not that Shen didn't care about her, he just wasn't the type to fuss over his kids.
"I'm Amaryllis, by the way," she tossed over her shoulder at the male as he appeared to be walking off. If he didn't want to stick around then that wasn't her lookout. She wasn't going to force Rai to do something he didn't want to; they'd only just met, after all.

He stopped moving and turned back toward the vixen."It is true that she is an adult but she still acts like a kit most of the time and gets her self into trouble almost on a daily bases. We are two out of the four off-springs of my parents mating and my father has 3 with another. So my mother is very protective over us because they were unable to have us after a long period of trying and finally she had us." He said. He was actually opening up to someone. He didn't even do that with his family and it was shocking to him. Clearing his throat in embarrassment "Um sorry about that and it was interesting to meet you Amaryllis the star struck vixen."

A chuckle bubbled up in Ryl's throat. "Long period of trying, huh? I was born by chance. My dad didn't even know my mom," she said, glancing back up at the sky. "I've only met her once, and my younger sister. Ironic, how those who don't even really want kits somehow end up with them."
She assumed her mother hadn't wanted children, anyway. After all, if she had, she certainly hadn't made any effort to include herself in her oldest daughter's life. Ryl really didn't have a lot to do either either Stella or Ming, and didn't feel the need to change any of that. When she had children of her own they would just have to make due with knowing their maternal grandfather, and hope for a lot of relatives on their father's (or other mother's) side to play with.
"You sound like it's a giant chore though," Ryl said, in response to Rai's comment about having to find his sister. "And call me Ryl. Amaryllis is such a mouthful for conversation." And it was, oddly enough, starting to turn into a conversation. Who could have foreseen that?

Rai tilted his head "Your one of the ones from crack breeings arent you? My older siblings the three that arent from my mother are the same. Dad took one their mother took another and the last one disappeared. It is ironic that those that want them most have trouble getting them." He agreed and sat down.
Apparently he had decided to stay. Things where interesting and she didn't irritate him like most others. He wondered if this was just a fluke or that he was actually getting along with someone so he decided to stick around and test it.
"Alright than Ryl. It is cause I'm always the one to go and find her. I got to bring her back and make sure she is ok. No one else does besides my parents every once in awhile."he said

Ryl tilted her head. "Why bring her back at all," she asked, not unreasonably, she thought. "I mean why can't your parents just tromp out to see her instead of sending you through hill and heather to find her, bring her back, and have her wander off again? She's probably out there trying to find a life."
Ryl made sure to keep her tone nonaccusatory and neutral as she said this. She wouldn't care if someone spouted all this stuff off at her, but she'd learned long ago that not much bothered her. And while she refused to pussyfoot around an issue, she did try not to make it sound like she was a nosy shrew.

"Because mother worries to much that if she was to go and check that one they would lose their territory or two we will get there and in counter some other fox that is unfriendly. I dont think my sister is out having a life yet i think she sees something that distracts her and than she gets lost." Rai said with a sigh. She had done that numerous times during their kit hood why would it change? It would if his sister changed but she didn't so it doesn't.

Ryl sighed through her nose. It all seemed kinda silly to her. But that was the difference of upbringing. She had a rootless drifter for a father and so much independence that some might have wondered if it was healthy.
"I suppose I'd have to meet your family to really understand. My way of life seems to be quite different." She glanced over at Rai, raising a single eyebrow just a tad.

Rai nodded in agreement. "I could introduce you to them if you would like but you might run away thinking we are all crazy,"he said jokingly and came back to sit down in front of her forgetting that he needed to go get his sister. "How were you raised?"

Ryl gave the sky one last look, then turned her gaze to Rai so that he wouldn't think he was being ignored or politely shunned.
"It was just me and Dad," she said. "Dad's very.....lazy. He didn't really care where I went or what I got up to. As a young kit he just told me to stay in his line of sight, but once I got older he just said try to stay out of trouble and within shouting distance."
Ryl actually chuckled a bit. "We're a lot more alike than we realize, me and Dad, aside from the fact that I'm not quite as lazy and nonconfrontational as him. We even love watching the sky together, but he's always been a fan of daylight and clouds more than night and stars."
